[ID: A digital illustration of Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth, Maya Fey, Mia Fey and Dick Gumshoe from Ace Attorney. Phoenix and Edgeworth stand in the centre, back to back but looking over their shoulders to smile at each other. Maya leans around Phoenix, grinning at him and Mia stands behind Maya, smiling at her and Phoenix. Gumshoe stands behind Edgeworth, grinning with his eyes closed and looking a little sheepish. Behind them all is the courtroom and various pieces of evidence and items from the first Ace Attorney game fill the space around them along with confetti. In the middle, behind Phoenix and Edgeworth, are a defence attorney's badge and a prosecutor's badge. End description.]
Happy 21 years of Ace Attorney!!! (and 21 years of me in two weeks!)

can i please hear your thoughts about franema. blease. i know they have something going on between them
oh yes yes.... franema happy to talk about it. for starters just everything about how ema behaves herself in aa4 makes me believe that would be some excellent yuri because bitch4bitch femslash is always so important.
in general though i think they're two people whose lives are very centered around their work (as much of the main ace attorney cast is) but they center their work extremely differently in a way i think would cause the other person to question a lot about their own perspective. I think a situation where two characters can really ruffle each others feathers just by existing in proximity has a lot of good ship fodder.
i think in many ways franziska is what ema wanted to be. she's a child prodigy, competent and excelling in her field and earning respect from a very young age. meanwhile when she's several years older than fran was passing the bar ema is still just a high school student just dipping her nose into forensic science for the first time. by the time she's in her mid 20s ema still isn't at the level of career success fran reached in her teen years, being stuck as a detective after failures to pass the forensics exams. and i think it's really worth paying attention to the fact that Detective was specifically the job that lead to her sister's life turning to shit, so i think the longer and longer she stays trapped in that position the more she's gonna start feeling like the walls of her life are closing in on her. i know we don't know where fran is at career wise during this point in the timeline but my personal headcanon is that she ends up doing a lot of work with interprol and primarily specializing in prosecuting cases that take place across various countries' jurisdictions, and has had good success doing so.
Then on the flipside I think Fran see's ema's fully self-motivated passion for forensics as something enviable and admirable. Fran is i think someone who has spent her entire life running through a treadmill of carrots and sticks that dictated what her life was going to be like since she was born. Obviously prosecuting is the family trade and she was started extremely young, then pitted against someone much older for the majority of her childhood. I think the ebb and flow of validation or disinterest from her peers and family was such an overwhelming motivator that she never had the chance to even consider whether or not there's anything she's passionate about. As an adult, i think she does come to find an honest passion in her career but it's nothing like what ema has, it can't be decoupled from external validation, and that's something she's come to understand as a bit of a weakness.
Then interpersonally i feel like since ema is much more personable and socially adjusted than fran, i could feel that being something she instinctively kind of leverages against fran to try and level their playing field. like, okay, franziska may be this bigshot famous prosecutor (just like edgeworth, who ema wants sooo bad to impress) but ema can find ways to embarrass, frustrate, or otherwise fluster her in social settings so that's totally the same as being intellectual equals right. right. right. (<- thoughts of a girl who is definitely being normal about the situation). but i feel like fran could kind of learn to be grateful for the lack of deference ema treats her with and it could be a real first step to them actually getting to know each other better.
i feel like they'd have a lot of similar opinions on the broader aspects of life. i think they'd both be fine with a more casual relationship that involves a lot of traveling for work and isn't particularly romantic by a lot of people's standards. and i think it would be fun for them to fuck each other. overall it just works imo. thank you for coming to my ted talk.

I've been thinking a lot about Phoenix's family, and I got carried away so I'm going to put the whole essay below the cut, I'm so normal about him
I'm sorry there's just no way that Phoenix has any sort of normal family situation, not just because they're never mentioned even in passing as he goes through extremely major life events, but also because of how he is as a person. You cannot convince me that the guy who fell head over heels for Dahlia two seconds after meeting her had any sort of reliable support system in his life. When she got arrested the only person he could think about was a guy he hadn't seen since they were both nine instead of any current person who would likely care that he almost got poisoned and arrested for murder.
While I think it would be nice if he had lesbian moms who loved him, it just doesn't quite fit in with what we know about Phoenix. I mean, even in the WAA/WTA the only photograph on display is Zak's, and if there isn't a better person to put on the wall than the biological father of his daughter who abandoned her, that's pretty sad. (though I personally like to think that his portrait was there specifically as a target for things like darts and throwing knives). Plus, we already know from the thing with Dahlia that Phoenix's primary way of dealing with trauma and abusive people is just to pretend nothing happened and force himself to forget about them.
That's not even mentioning this guy's abandonment issues and complete willingness to adopt anyone he finds into his found family with zero hesitation. He meets Ema once for a few days, someone he has no personal connection to, but because she reminded him of Maya he stays in contact with her at some capacity to the point that he keeps her investigative tools with him and can have his name be used to gain her favor. Also, there's that new years art where she gets drunk with the Wright's and Apollo. And there are several more young adults/teenagers like that, he's got that foster kid to foster dad energy.
What I think makes the most sense is either that he was given up for adoption/ was an orphan in the foster care system who was passed around a lot, never getting too attached to one family, which led to his abandonment issues, or that he had a normal family life until something happened that estranged them from him. As a staunch believer in Transmasc Phoenix my thoughts are that he had transphobic parents so when he left for university he cut them off and changed his full name which explains why he is so desperate for emotional connection at that time. He suddenly has no one but a dream to find Miles and a girlfriend whose red flags he's completely blind to.
But honestly, there are so many reasons that people could come up with that would also make sense for his character. Maybe they were emotionally abusive and since everyone around him has dead or horrifically bad parents he's just not going to ever bring it up because who is he to complain when his besties are Maya Fey and Miles Edgeworth. Maybe they were just absent a lot and he had to take care of himself (and perhaps younger siblings) until he just couldn't take it anymore. Maybe they just tried to get him a girlfriend to settle down with one too many times and he just refuses to visit them, not even on holidays like Christmas or new years. It's just fascinating to me that there's absolutely nothing about them, I think there was even one of those little (official?) comics that poked fun at the fact that he doesn't really have parents, he may not even know who they are.
I also stand behind all of the ideas from my Phoenix Family HCs Poll because all of them would be so fun to explore even if some of them are total crack HCs. Tigre is only 16 years older than Phoenix but you can't say it's not possible that he messed around in high school and his girlfriend just gave up the kid for adoption and it would be so funny if Phoenix had to put his own father into prison after he pretended to be him.
In my Fem!Phoenix AU where I'm planning on expounding upon her relationship with the Feys and her own spiritual power (Phoenix does canonically talk to ghosts sometimes), the spirit of Ryunosuke found her and kind of became her imaginary friend who appears sometimes because I love him.
Even the idea of the goddess of law making him as an indestructible little terror on the legal system would be fascinating to expand upon. I would love to read about the whole concept of law being turned into a kind of religion, is she a single omniscient god (is she single?) or is she part of a larger pantheon? What would that mean for Phoenix?
I just can't even fathom that there's something normal going on with Phoenix and his family, I think he should pull an Apollo and secretly have the most batshit family backstory. Just looking at this guy and you know he has some kinds of issues, he was an art/theater major, he's got to be a little bit of that flavor of fucked up.

lana skye enjoyers come here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- lana becomes a detective again after she is released out of prison! due to all of her crimes she couldn't be a prosecutor again and it's not like she wanted to all that much - it reminded her a little bit too much of the time she was gant's puppet literally committing crimes at his request (not even only at his request. I think it was her conscious decision to forge evidence which she regrets now)
- she is, despite everything, actually very respected on the force. part of the reason why is because some of these people remember her as a chief prosecutor, and it's hard to see her as anything less than an authority, part of the reason is because no one in the public eye actually knows the details of rfta, because otherwise it would have made a huge scandal, so lana is remembered for her previous accomplishments mostly, and not... everything she confessed to.
- she allows herself to be much softer with people, she's sort of mellowed out and if she reminds you of older edgeworth, that's not a coincidence. she is very much in touch with him and is proud of where he got
depressing skye sisters headcanon coming
the only thing that's still fucked is her relationship with ema
Tumblr media
It's not that she's controlling or anything like that. we don't have any issues. she doesn't overcompensate for being cold and neglectful for two years by being overprotective. Gant definitely didn't poison her mind.
ema is constantly escaping the clutches of lana's control and hiding facts about their life to deflect lana's potential disappointment, that's why they don't talk about her much in the games - sort of a sore spot.
ema is also pissed off by nahyuta and drawn to them at the same time because of how much they remind them of lana- oh wait that's a lana post. okay I think that's it then!

Dear Anonymous,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Hee-ho! Hee-ho! Hee-ho! Hee-ha! Hee-ha!
Tumblr media
Co-Mod: Heeheeheehohohohohahahahahahaha!!! Is this a Luke Atmey impression contest or something?
Chief Mod Edgeworth: .....
Tumblr media
have you never seen Persona 5 Strikers?
Co-Mod: Ah! No, I haven't. Thanks for the clarification.
Mod Zieks: What the hell is a persona, and why are they on strike?
Mod Gregson: Strikers is better than base Persona 5, I will not budge on this.
Tumblr media
(Referenced Link)
Co-Mod: Looks interesting. A friend of mine got me into Power Rangers, which I found to be a lot more interesting than I expected for a kid's show, so I can imagine the same being true for this show. That being said, I probably won't have the time to watch it for a while, so that's all the feedback I can give for now.

Dear Miraz van Nohrr,
Chief Mod Edgeworth:
Tumblr media
Have you tried commenting through your computer or safari? See if those work. You will find it right here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dear Dawsongfg,
Co-Mod: Congratulations! Meanwhile, I have a cat (or rather, my parents do) that likes to drool on me and everything I own. As much as I love cats, nothing in this world will ever convince me to own one. Not one that drools, anyway.
Mod Gregson: I've got two cats! One is approaching 15 years and is still healthy and playful, one is 6 years old and is a grumpy old lady who refuses to let the older cat befriend her. Mod Zieks: I do as well! We all have our own little gremlins in our life. Mine is also a cat, a little tortie named Charlie. I love her, and she is just the silliest little thing.
Tumblr media
Dear Jeffrey,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Congratulations on the new puppy.
Tumblr media
Sorry about the loss of Dylan. I also lost my pet while she was getting spayed. I hope things go well for your new pet.
Co-Mod: Wait... You're saying that's not a real-life Scooby-Doo?
Just kidding. I'm glad he's been a help to you. My family went through a similar experience when our cat died by falling out of a tree during a storm. We missed having a cat in the house so much that we had to get a new one, so we did. Much like Dylan, she's not the same as our previous cat, but still a great source of joy for us.
Mod Gregson: I'm sorry for the loss of your puppy; I know that can be pretty tough. But I'm glad you've found a new friend and family member to help fill the void!
Mod Zieks: Congratulations on the puppy, and I'm sincerely sorry for your loss.
Tumblr media
Dear Anonymous,
Chief Mod Edgeworth:
Tumblr media
Who knows? Though, that would be weird in my opinion.
Mod Gregson: Am I the only one who finds this a lot funnier than it should be? Imagining Turnabout Trump or Turnabout Succession but the only change is "Kristopher Gavin" is cracking me up. Yes, this is my sense of humor.
Mod Zieks: Based, but not my kind of based. Then again, mixing dreams and ace attorney brought us 'Country Gavin' (@doctorsiren)
Tumblr media
Dear Anonymous,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Miles Edgeworth and Kazuma Asogi! What do you mean Mia or Klavier have better boobs?
Tumblr media
Mod Gregson: Neither, I'm more of a legs gal!
Mod Zieks: It's a tie between Max Galactica from the circus cases and Miles Edgeworth.
Tumblr media
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Uh-huh and you didn't send me a few previous anonymous letters under different names with the same fakemail.com or the oh so obvious Hotti letters with the same style of writing as you under different emails after sending this mod letter.
Tumblr media
Mod Gregson: Oh, I have special words for you later. :)
Tumblr media
Dear Miraz van Nohrr,
Chief Mod Edgeworth:
Tumblr media
I've visited other states, but not countries. If I did, I'd likely go to Mexico, since my grandparents live at the border. Too bad I need a Passport.
Co-Mod: I visited Matamoros, Mexico once. From what I remember, it was just like being in the U.S., but with everyone speaking Spanish, everything being written in Spanish, and Mexican food tasting like Mexican food (not the Americanized version). Overall, it was pretty enjoyable.
Mod Gregson: I was born in Costa Rica, actually! Moved to the States when I was a young'un. I've gone back there a few times, and... I didn't really like it, but I apparently went to one of the worse parts of it, so maybe I can't judge? Mod Zieks: I've actually never gone out of my home state, and I'd like to change that someday. Preferably, moving from the States and going to the UK. Since their gender-affirming care is paid for by their universal healthcare, and their firearms laws aren't as loose.

Woah woah, okay. So I just finished spirit of justic except for the special episode. Current thoughts from a foggy memory:
realizing this post is super long so it’s under the break, also soj spoilers
Implied that Phoenix and gumshoe correspond on their own when Phoenix mentions something to Edgeworth. When he’s questioned about it he just says something like “I have my sources…” and Edgeworth tells him to inform his source of a paycheck cut.
Even though Athena got a case of her own to do I feel like she didn’t have as strong of a presence and idk man balancing three lawyers kind of a crazy move
I found rayfa oddly charming because of her silly insults
Not utter dogshit but I see why people generally dont like dual Destinies and spirit of justice as much
My mom misses gumshoe
I did not call the queen being powerless like at all
if there’s another ace attorney game I want a dedicated scene about Apollo and Trucy getting told the truth
Hard to pick a favorite case but I think I liked case 2 and turnabout storyteller just bc it was pretty fun. Also can not believe Athena’s case was the super short filler one!
would’ve appreciated more Maya
cannot believe they just added on characters that were never previously mentioned. Oh yeah, there’s a secret fourth group gramarye member. Apollo? He actually has a brother and was left behind by his foster father at about fifteen or so.
Did the archaeologist guy just… steal a bunch of shit from Adrian’s exhibit? He had literally everything. Good god I wonder how he felt about that scroll having gravy on it
on the plane ride back why did Trucy sit (and fall asleep on) Edgeworth instead of idk her father. What did Athena really want to sit there or something. It’s very cute but also why
Actually Maya and Edgeworth should’ve sat next to eachother on the plane so they can debate about plumed punisher. “You gave away your one of a kind steal samurai themed watch FOR A RIPOFF KEYCHAIN” and then he throws her off the plane (personally, of the belief he would throttle ms inmee [not actually])
about that, it’s so funny to me that he ranted about the show to Datz, a guy he just met and is a revolutionary
Need to mention that Edgeworth’s cravat gets attacked by a dog, I don’t even have a comment I just need to iterate that fact
The breakdown scenes were fun and dynamic but idk I didn’t care for them that much
kind of thought they were gonna channel Apollo’s dad Jove fucking justice
It was funnier when I, for a split second, assumed that since nobody knew the name of his father that Apollo chose his last name to be Justice.
just now realizing that Apollo who shares a namesake with the god of music has two musician parents now
I am so happy that the 3d sprites look better than in dual destinies I don’t know if I could take it if they looked like that again
My mom’s favorite character design is Rayfa’s (but her favorite character is Susato who has nothing to do with soj)
Maya should get an “I survived TWO kidnapping” shirt because everyone wants leverage over Phoenix.
From what I saw online before playing the game I thought nahyuta would be super insanely awful, and then they introduce him as a level headed guy. Then I think oh he seems okay, and then he tells Apollo to go to the depths of hell and that he’ll be reincarnated as a piece of shit
When investigating phoenix tells Edgeworth that he think’s he’d like a gaudy house, to which Edgeworth is offended. And then Phoenix makes fun of him for his bright red sports car in his mind.
Would’ve loved a reference to some older characters, like Iris who is just like never brought up again. Anyways, what’s with spirit channeling families and being super fucked up
i am so sorry to say that Apollo looked like really good in that one cg with his hair antenna down (the one where he almost drowned) (not my best moment)
How in the world did Apollo survive as a teenager? If dhurke left him 10 or so years before this he’d be about fifteen? Did he just get dropped off at a boarding school, who the hell took care of him and how did he become a lawyer.
Why didn’t Amara just resume the throne herself? Idk if I totally missed something but isn’t she still a rightful heir
Khura’in spent EIGHT HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS ON A LIE. THEY WERE DONATIONS. AND FIVE YEARS OF LABOR (Amara’s tomb)
So funny to me that nahyuta drags Ema around everywhere like a little ragdoll back and forth country to country
The pun names in this one were wild 🤪 (suggested emoji)
oh god what if Edgeworth and rayfa were to talk about plumed punisher
Yeah we’re back to this, edgey’s sitting in a rebel hideout with lizards hanging from the ceiling and he watches the plumed punisher??? I kinda forgot the timeline but either Maya is currently kidnapped or dhurke’s in jail “oh okay I’ll stay behind” “let’s turn on the tv” “what the fucj is this”
One time phoenix’s phone went off and I jumped out of my seat because I also have the steal samurai theme as my damn ringtone
I get that it’s just fun sprite stuff but where does nahyuta get all his necklaces? How does his floating ribbon work?
In aa4 with my vague recollection, there’s a scene that kind of made me assume Ace attorney definitely took place in some weird fantasy land that coexisted with real world. (It was something that had to do with the founding fathers? And apollo “yes I know what America is” justice, like they currently don’t live there. It was some exchange during the case where klavier’s guitar blows up). Guess how surprised I was when oh golly now they’re full blown Americans!
since I mentioned aa4 and I already got off track everytime my mom hears that song (which Apollo made his ringtone) she complains about it and gets bad flashbacks. She told me everytime she hears a piano arrangement she thinks about the case. Maybe it wore off by now but it was her version of blue badger
Uendo was my favorite witness
Yeah I don’t think I have anything else to say, what a nice note to it on.
Nope I remembered something, queen ga’ran made me want to use the royal we.

I had a random au idea where Miles Edgeworth is 6 years younger than he is in canon. Same age as Franziska but several months older (she still is "big sister"). He also became prosecutor at 13 like Franziska, so there were TWO angry 13 year olds in the courtroom. DL-6 incident happened when he was 7 instead of 9, the statue of limitations is 10, and Phoenix's incisive moment was when this 7 year old stood up for him at the playground when he was accused of theft and he was moved that this little boy was willing to help when no one else would.

Based on a dream I had
It was a rainy June day at the facility where we had summer camp. Water fell from the sky in heavy curtains. The ground was muddy and waterlogged and drenched with puddles. It was impossible to play outside.
Since everyone was stuck inside, a few kids decided to have a conversation-type game, debating which of two proposed characters would win in a fight.
More kids got drawn in, each pitting their favorite characters in, and defending them in the argument.
Some of the conversations were really funny, like when the kids decided the little pop-star Miku Hatsune could defeat Superman! How? Because she was involved with a company called Crypton, and Superman’s weakness was Kryptonite.
My name is Amelie Sugar. I’m just an average 9 year old girl who is often too passionate about things that don’t matter. I tend to get carried away often, and love to daydream.
It was finally time for me to argue which character I think would be the strongest. I chose Tinkaton from Pokémon. Sure, she was cute, but she was also a force to be reckoned with! She wields a humungous steel hammer forged she herself, and has the power to fling it around effortlessly! And despite being a fairy-type Pokémon, she doesn’t have a weakness to steel, because she’s steel-type herself too. And all fairies are super epic already because they slay dragons. And Tinkaton is so powerful that she slays Corviknight too! She’s an absolute menace!
“Tinkaton could take down anyone!” I said enthusiastically. “She brings down flying Corviknight by flinging rocks in the sky with her MASSIVE HAMMER. It’s super powerful and it takes a ton of strength to lift! And Tinkaton is a fairy, so she fights with the power of light and friendship!”
“Well, I think the Steel Samurai could beat Tinkaton.” A boy named Miles Edgeworth said smugly. He was a year older than me, but in the same group. “The Steel Samurai’s element is steel, and Tinkaton is a fairy Pokémon. Fairies are weak to steel. Well? What do you have to say about that?”
“Miles… you’re forgetting that Tinkaton is a steel-type too!” I said back. “She doesn’t have a weakness to steel attacks, because her steel-typing gives her a resistance to it!”
Miles now looked visibly frustrated. It felt kind of good to be getting to him. The truth is, I don’t win often at anything, especially not at debates. I’m a bit insecure about it. And Miles is so smug all the time and is usually great at arguing! I felt a sense of victory to make him become quiet.
“Yeah, Ame! You TELL him!” My friend Joy cheered. Joy was my friend who was a year younger than me and looked up to me. It was flattering really, how cool she well, perceived me to be.
“W-Well…” Miles continued. “Tinkaton’s hammer wouldn’t stand a chance against the Steel Samurai sword! It’s forged of the strongest mineral in the land. It might even slice right through that hammer! Take that!”
“Well, did you know Tinkaton is a master blacksmith herself?” I added on. “She forged her hammer herself, and it weighs a megaton and is iron-cast. One hammer hit to the Steel Samurai sword will bend it out of shape! And guess what? Tinkaton would just steal that sword, and the Steel Samurai’s armor, and use the steel to make her hammer even bigger! In your FACE!”
I laughed in victory. I saw Miles’ face turn red and flushed.
“…OBJECTION!” Miles yelled. Then he paused, like he couldn’t think of an objection. “I… The Steel Samurai… He… he never loses!”
“Sorry, Miles. But Ame just explained why Tinkaton is more epic.” Joy smiled.
“Objection! The Steel Samurai fights for the people… he’s a hero…” Miles said weakly.
Just then, I felt myself become a little apologetic.
“Hey, Miles? The Steel Samurai is important to you, isn’t he?”
“I… Of course he is!” Miles lashed out. “And you tried to make it all about your… stupid Tinkaton! One more thing. CALL ME EDGEWORTH. Only my FRIENDS call me Miles.”
“…Okay, Edgeworthless.” I said.
It was supposed to be a harmless joke.
The truth was, I was feeling a bit disheartened that Edgeworth said I wasn’t his friend.
But Miles… he was hurt. He started crying. I didn’t expect him to cry. He was usually so stern. All this time, I thought his heart was as hard and cold as steel.
“Amelie… How can you be such a jerk!” He sniffled. “You… called me such a horrible name! I… I won’t forgive you.”
Edgeworth gave me one last look of shame and hatred and ran off in tears.
I suddenly felt a bit of heaviness in my heart.
“What did you do that for, Amelie?” A quiet, sensible boy named Defota asked me. “That was really mean.”
“Well Edgeworth isn’t nice either.” I said to defend myself.
“You shouldn’t have called him worthless though.” Defota walked away as well. I frowned.
“Sorry Ame.” Joy said. “I know you didn’t mean that.”
I sighed. I still felt bad.
The game ended right there and everyone dispersed.
“Amelie, what the heck?” Taya went up to me, only seeing part of the scene. He seemed a bit skeptical of me, and I honestly didn’t blame him. “What did you say to Miles to make him cry like that?”
“I… I honestly wish I knew.” I said.
It wasn’t that I was really a jerk... I just had trouble understanding things… But did that really make me a jerk? I felt bad.
“I… I think I’m going to try to apologize to him. To Miles.” I said. But suddenly his words flashed through my head, and his angry, crying face.
“I… I won’t forgive you!”
What if Miles won’t forgive me?

Take My Hand
Mia Fey after three years since her mother left the village that it is time to say "SCREW IT!" to her family legacy. The only problem is - she can't leave the most important person in the world to her.
Day 4 in Au-Gust Writing Challenge - Runaway!
AO3 DAY 1 DAY 2 DAY 3
Day 4: Runaway
-
Packing the last of their pitiful amount of possessions in sacks, she took a deep breath.
 I have to do this… it’s for my sister… it’s for me.
Mia Fey repeated this mantra in her mind over and over as she paced the small room she and her little sister, Maya shared in Fey Manor. Maya, only being five years old, looked at her older sister with big, round eyes, biting her thumbnail as she clutched at a teddy bear to her chest with her free arm.
“Big Sister…” Maya whispered, her voice squeaky. “Where are we going…?” she asked yet again. It was the fifth time in ten minutes she had asked it.
It was the fifth time Mia had no answer.
It had been three years since their mother, Misty Fey, had disappeared from Kurain Village after the channeling of Gregory Edgeworth had failed. The news got out and Misty was considered a fraud and a hack. Instead of trying to rebuild her reputation, she abandoned the village,
 And her two daughters.
Mia was technically the next in line to become the Master of the Kurain Channeling Technique as she was eldest daughter of the Main Family - however, after seeing what it has done to her family, she wanted nothing to do with it. She saw how it made her Aunt Morgan bitter and resentful toward her sister… Morgan was older than Misty yet she was not the Master due to not having enough Spiritual power. Morgan desperately tried to have her own daughters, only for her twins not to have any power either, like herself.
The young Mia was thrown into training at a young age, and Dahlia along with Iris were thrown in too. When it was discovered that the twins had no Spiritual power, their father divorced Morgan and took them away form the village. The last Mia had heard was that he had remarried but only kept Dahlia and forced Iris to live at Hazakura Temple with another Fey Branch family member.
Now, Morgan’s internal body clock was ticking, but she was desperate to find another partner in order to have another daughter. She believed if she had a daughter that was stronger than Mia their family could take over…
And I’ll let them! I don’t care! Nothing is worth my sister’s life for!
 “Big Sister…?” Maya tearfully said.
“We’re going to be okay, Maya… I promise…!” Mia assured, crouching down to her sister’s level. “I’m going to protect you… as your big sister, I swear by it!”
Maya threw her arms around Mia, her sniffling. “You won’t leave me like Mama?”
 “I won’t…! I never will!”
With that, Mia grabbed Maya’s sack and tied it around the small girl’s waist. In turn, she tied her own sack around herself. It was time to leave.
The village was dark when Mia and Maya crept out of the manor, Mia putting her finger to her lips to signal her sister to be extra quiet. Both girls knew where ever creak was with every floorboard, so it was easy to sneak out. Once outside the manor, the cool breeze ripped through both of the girls’ yukatas, causing them both to chatter their teeth.
Crossing the boundary of the village gate, Mia felt her heart pound in her chest. She knew once she crossed the line, she would never be able to come back – it would be the same for Maya. They were both abandoning their family legacy. Did Mia have the right to make that decision for her sister?
Mia glanced down at Maya, who was looking up at her with her large, dark blue eyes.
 No… she deserves a better life…
Together, they both stepped over the boundary and walked down the path leaving Kurain Village.
Notes:
- A much shorter story, but then end is open to interpretation!

Manfred von Karma mentions a grandchild (granddaughter?) at one point so it's a fair assumption that he has at least one more child and through several leaps of logic I have decided that this third child is a high maintenance lesbian opera singer named Freida von Karma.

A Second Chance?  (Miles Edgeworth x Detective!reader) -some angst at the beginning, but a nice ending- Miles Edgeworth was a relatively lonely kid. He was considered a loner by some, and by others they thought he was a bit stuck up. After all, his father was a famous defense attorney, and his family therefore was rather wealthy. However, this didn’t mean that he actually was the way the rumors depicted him to be.  He had some friends, three to be exact. Larry Butz, Phoenix Wright, and a girl named (Y/n) (L/n). Together they were the signal samurai, and had corresponding key chains to prove their friendship. They would constantly hang out together and they seemed like quite the group, but they were happy... at least, some of them were. Miles had a crush on (Y/n), however hard he tried he couldn’t get rid of it, and everyday it seemed like she just got closer and closer to him. ‘Why can’t I just tell her?’ he thought one say, heading home from school.  His father knew that his son liked someone, and had gotten a description of the girl from his flustered and embarrassed child, but he had never met her before. He had met Miles’s male companions, but never the girl who captured his young heart. “ Over dinner, Gregory Edgeworth asked his son about school. “It was fun, I suppose. Phoenix, Larry, (Y/n) and I played on the jungle-gym and Larry fell off.”  “My goodness! Was he okay?” “Yes, he was fine. He laughed it off but he was bleeding. (Y/n) gave him a bandage for it. She’s so prepared for almost anything.” Gregory watched his son’s face flush red and a small smile creep up onto his face. “You really do like this (Y/n) quite a lot, don’t you, my boy?”  Miles nearly choked on his drink. “F-father! She’s just a friend, nothing else!” Gregory smiled, “That blush on your face says otherwise.”  ‘Curse his sharp observation skills.’ Thought Miles, his blush growing. “So what if I like her? It doesn’t mean that she’ll possess the same feelings I do.”  “You’ll never know unless you tell her. Plus, you two are friends, I doubt it will change anything if she doesn’t.” That quote would stay with Miles, haunting him for many years. The next day, after school, (Y/n) decided to walk with him after school back home. They lived relatively close to each other, so it wasn’t uncommon to see them leaving school together. ‘She’s so close..’ Thought the young Edgeworth, and his father’s words and he decided now was a better time than never. Oh, but how life can play such cruel tricks.  “(Y/n) I have something to tell you.” “Hm? What is it Miles?” “I lo-” Just then two teenage boys walked over to them and shoved the two children away. “Beat it losers.” Said one of the older boys, the other chuckling as Miles hit his head on the iron gate behind him and fell down onto the pavement. Miles’s head hurt so much. A headache to be sure, but also frustration toward the teenagers.  “Meanies! Shove off you big bullies!” (Y/n) yelled at the older boys and tuned to help Miles up. “Are you okay?” She held her hand out to her fallen friend. This, of course, flared up Miles’ anger, due to the pain of his headache and the humiliation of being pushed around right in front of his crush and having her defend him like he was a damsel in distress. He slapped her hand away and glared at her. “I’m fine, shut up won’t you? Gosh you’re so annoying! Just leave me alone!”  He realized what he said the moment he looked her in the eyes. There were unshed tears threatening to fall. “O-oh... I’m sorry. I’ll leave. Bye.” As Miles reached out to grab her hand and make her stay, she ran from him, leaving him alone on the sidewalk. That night, he couldn’t sleep a wink. The next day at school, he tried to speak to (Y/n) but she did everything in her power to avoid him. It was killing Miles slowly and Larry and Phoenix could see that something happened. The moment that Miles got close to (Y/n), she would leave. They got concerned for their friends, especially since they knew a certain girl’s secret. Phoenix was the one to ask (Y/n) about
what was going on and she told him about what happened. “It doesn’t help that I’m moving away tomorrow.. I was kinda hoping I could confess to him by then, but I guess that’ll never happen.”  That day (Y/n), Phoenix, and Larry walked to (Y/n)’s house to say their last goodbyes, and by the next morning, (Y/n)’s family was gone. When Miles came to school, a few flowers in his backpack for (Y/n), he noticed something weird. She wasn’t there. When he asked the teacher where she was, his heart nearly stopped. “Sh-she moved away?” Miles was crushed. He had broken (Y/n)’s heart, as Larry had told him the previous day, and now he would never be able to make things right. (Y/n) (L/n), the girl he had been pining for, was gone and he’d probably never see her again. --Time Skip-- It had been almost 15 years since that fateful day when (Y/n) moved away, and to this day, Miles still regretted what he did. At that current moment, however, he had been called in to check out a murder case. His bright red sports car parked in the drive way and he walked into the house. Detective Gumshoe was already in the house, outside of the crime scene.  "Good morning, Detective. What do we have for today?"  "Ah! Mr. Edgeworth, Sir! I'm actually waiting for my new partner to arrive. My niece just got out of training and is a full fledged detective now. She's gonna join me on this case, sir." Miles was surprised. "You never told me you had a niece, much less siblings. Congratulations on your new partner. What's her name?"  "Her name's (Y/n). Come to think of it, she's actually your age, Mr. Edgeworth, Sir." Miles's heart sped up a little. 'Did he say (Y/n)?' Just then, both of them heard the front door to the house open, and footsteps coming closer.  "Uncle Gumshoe.. er, sir. I'm sorry I'm a little late, I got caught in some traffic."  Miles looked toward the voice and his eyes began to widen. She had grown older and taller, but he'd recognize her anywhere. "It's no problem, (Y/n). Oh, before you go in, I want you to meet someone! This is Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth. He's been assigned to this case as well." At the mention of the name, (Y/n) looked toward Miles for the first time in almost 15 years. She seemed shocked to see him. "Oh. Umm. Hello, Mr. Edgeworth. It's nice to see you again. It's been a while, hasn't it? It's an honor to be working with you."  'Mr. Edgeworth?' He thought, not liking how it sounded coming from her. "Hold the phone, you two have met before?" Her uncle said, looking a little surprised. (Y/n) nodded.  "We spent a few years of school together. Anyway, we should get to work." Miles could not believe his luck. Almost 15 years, and the universe has given him another chance. 'But does she still feel the way she did when we were kids?' He wondered, entering the crime scene. "The victim is a rich 32 year old man named Mr. Daniel Myres. He was stabbed to death with a sharp object." Read Detective Gumshoe from the autopsy report, giving it to Miles. The body was gone from the room, the chalk outline being left behind. There was blood on the floor, slightly dried, but not entirely. "There's multiple things wrong with this room." Said (Y/n), squatting down to get a better look at a pile of glass by the window. Miles nodded, "Detective Gumshoe, do we have any potential weapons in police possession?" "Yes sir. There was a butchers knife found in the victim's back with his blood on it. Not only that, but aparently, the victim's neighbor, Kenny Longoth, is the prime suspect in the murder because the victim's wife claims she saw him kill her husband." "Was there any fingerprints found on the knife for proof?" Asked (Y/n), putting some gloves on and looking toward the window where the supposed killer entered. "Yes, the victim's and wife's fingerprints were on it, but that's it. So the Mr. Kenny probably used gloves." Miles looked around the room and heard a soft laugh. Turned around, he saw (Y/n) looking out of the broken window. "I don't think the accused is the one who killed the victim. I
believe that our supposed eye witnesses might have killed her husband. There's glass from the window outside on the ground meaning that the glass was broken from the inside. Have someone take a pictures of that as proof of evidence. Someone should probably also check the kitchen. I think a butchers knife should be missing." A police officer went outside to take a picture and check the kitchen while Detective Gumshoe had to leave the room to make a phone call. Miles decided now was as good a time as any to finally talk to her. "It seems life has served you well?" He said, looking around for any decisive evidence. "I suppose." She replied, continuing her own search. "How about you? I thought you wanted to be a defense attorney like your father." "Well.. Life had different plans for me. I thought you wanted to be an artist?" She smirked and looked toward Miles. "I guess Life had different plans for me." The prosecutor blushed slightly and smiled at her. "Mr. Edgeworth, how are Phoenix and La-" "Miles." (Y/n) looked back at him in confusion. "What?" "You can call me Miles. You know that. We're friends." 'Ah, yes, there's that familiar sting.' (Y/n) looked away. "I thought you wanted me to stay away from you." Miles frowned, "I know I said that.. but I was only because I was embarrassed. I just got pushed around in front of you and then you tried to help me. I thought you would think I was weak and my head hurt so I snapped at you. Then you moved away and I... I never got to apologize. I didn't mean to hurt you.. I wanted to tell you how much you meant to me." There was a soft silence in the room and nobody said a word. Miles felt his heart sink. "I- forget I said anything. I'm sorry." "No, don't apologize. I'm sorry too. I made you think I hated you or something like that. I forgave you a long time ago, Miles. It wasn't fair of me as well to leave so suddenly and not say goodbye to you." Edgeworth blushed at the mention of his name, and she continued. "How did you feel about me back then?" "I... I loved you. I was quite attracted to you and wanted to tell you, but those highschoolers interrupted me." (Y/n) looked at him in shock, a bright red blush growing on her face. "Y-you loved me??" Miles blushed even harder now and he heard his father's words. "You'll never know unless you tell her." "I'd be lying if I didn't still feel attracted to you." There was a warmth in his chest as he looked at her smiling face. "How about we talk more about this over coffee? Tomorrow morning before the trial?" "I'd love to." Just then, Detective Gumshoe came back and explained the situation. Mrs. Myres was under arrest and was going to be present at the trial the next day. The sun was high in the sky when the two detectives and the prosecutor exited the building. Lots had been learned and for two of them, feelings that both of them thought were lost were rekindled, burning brighter than ever. "See you tomorrow, Miles!" (Y/n) called out, the corresponding male looking back at her and smiling, waving to her before entering his car. 'I've gotten a second chance. I'm not about to screw this one up too.'

It seriously did not occur to me how young Thalassa was when she had Apollo until just recently.
so Jove was murdered in 2005, when Apollo was still a baby, and a very young baby at that. He couldn't have even been two if he was still wrapped up in the swaddle - hell, eighteen months is around the upper limit for an average baby to be walking around, which Apollo is very clearly not.
thus, we can assume that at this time, Apollo was around a year old?? Maybe just possibly on the cusp of a year and a half.
Thalassa is forty in 2026, meaning that if you go down from there, in 2005 Thalassa would have been nineteen. Unless they are for some reason taking a literal newborn on this tour with them, this means that Thalassa could have had him when she was eighteen at the oldest. If you consider they might have taken a newborn on the tour with them, then maybe she could have been nineteen, but nonetheless this is a worryingly young age to have a baby.
This brings up the question of Jove Justice. The game doesn't give him an age because we know almost nothing about him, but Jove really doesn't look like a teenager? Honestly I always thought he was somewhere in his twenties, maybe around twenty-four like Apollo in SOJ, but if he died a year after they had the baby when he was twenty-three, this would imply that he dated her when she was underage. Which, while not illegal unless there's sex, is still, y'know, not great. So for the sake of my own sanity, I'm going to toss Jove in the group of AA characters notorious for looking way older than they actually are - like Will Powers (twenty-five in AAI2 despite looking in his thirties) and Gregory Edgeworth (who somehow manages to look older at thirty-four than he did in his profile mugshot and the picture of his corpse at thirty-five, so I just end up averaging out how old he looks to be somewhere in the middle), to name a few. We'll say Jove is either Thalassa's age, or, more likely, a year or two older at most. At that point, if they did start dating when Thalassa was underage, the age gap was so small that it would have at the very least been legal in many American states - much like how most of the time in a fandom situation where adult/minor ships are banned (of course), exceptions are often made for very small age gaps (for example, from what I've seen, Franziskay isn't usually considered a problem).
It's potentially possible to fudge these dates a little bit, since Apollo didn't have a birth certificate that anyone could find, and Thalassa's garbage excuse for a family abandoned her in Europe for an undisclosed amount of time, presumably with no identification papers whatsoever given that she'd forgotten her own name. But in the end, what we've discovered is that Thalassa most likely had Apollo when she was a teenager, and that Jove is hopefully younger than he looks.

Anyway Meet the Robinsons with 9 year old Phoenix (Filler last name here) the day before the class Trial. Trucy Woopsies back in time using a magic pocket watch for reasons. For conflict reasons they end up jumping Forward in time to the Edgeworth-Wright mansion. The pocket watch breaks and she frantically attempts to fix it.
When Pearl comes in and sees Phoenix. (Cue panicked screaming)
She manages to shush Pearl and shove a beanie over Phoenix’s hair (the only way anyone can in canon recognize him).
“You going to have to go by Feenie for now. Don’t you dare tell anyone your real name or else- TIME TROUBLES. And keep that hat on. Also no lying. Everyone will Instantly know.”
“O-Okay?”
We have this huge house full of strange people who are all family??? And Love each other??? There’s Ema and her science experiments that cause a huge explosion. They end up in Trucy’s magic room. Kalvier’s guitar filled guest room. Kay’s Ninja (thief) room. Gumshoe and Maggie and their rugrats are running around setting up for something. Apollo is video calling in from a robot. There are two older women called the Wright’s constantly making puns and laughing. Maya is in the kitchen and offers Feenie some food. You remind me of my brother.
Just so. Much. Family.
And at the heart of it all is this calm and serious grey hair man. And maybe he should be scary but honestly he looks like a dad. Phoenix isn’t well versed in what Dad’s look like. But he is. That man is Dad shaped.
Anyway we get that conflict scene where Phoenix enters a room only to find something of value is shattered on the floor. Immediately someone enters the room after him and he’s terrified he’ll get accused again.
“A CRIME! INVESTIGATION TIME! :D!”
And theirs just this whole Team of Family sweeping the crime scene for evidence. Ema, Kay, Gumshoe. Who broke Papa’s Defense trophy? Trucy trying to keep them from questioning Phoenix too hard. Athena pulling up her mood matrix and Apollo on the robotic skype machine with his bracelet like ‘okay tell us what happened.’
Phoenix gets nervous because it looks like he’s going to be accused again because he was found at the crime scene and then-
“Hm. Kay do you have any evidence that supports a verdict.”
“Not much I’m afraid.”
“Then I suppose since the Defense is out we shall have to rely on the prosecutors code. As it stands-”
“Wait!” His voice halted them. They turned to stare. “W-What if the reason I didn’t see the person who broke it was because...” Uh... “They weren’t a person?”
An eyebrow raised.
“L-Like a mouse? If it was small then I wouldn’t have seen it but it could have fallen off the shelf for ‘no reason!’”
“... An interesting theory. Detectives?”
“...!”
“SQUIREL!”
(Queue chaos involving a squirrel and Pess.)
(Squirrel is escorted off premises.)
“Haha, well i suppose it’s time for the verdict. Not guilty.”
“You know Mr. Wright would really like you!” “Yeah, you were a little turnabout terror just now! Be careful or he’ll be asking you to intern for him!”
“Good job.” And a pat on the head from Edgeworth.
Well that’s the most positive affection Feenie’s had from an adult in years. Excuse him while he starts crying. Edgeworth is immediately concerned- as is everyone else.
“I’m sorry! I just! I wish I had a family like this!”
Edgeworth Immediately with the adoption papers. ‘Ah this will make a far better birthday gift than those absurd t-shirts. Wright loves adopting children’
The entire Family banding around Feenie like WE’RE YOUR FAMILY NOW NO TAKE BACKS. YOUR STUCK WITH US
Trucy and Pearl panicking in the background like ‘no no no no’
Trucy yanking Phoenix’s beanie off to reveal his hair.
The gasp.
The pull away.
‘okay so i’m not from this time but- but no one cares about me back there so it’s fine! I can just stay here.’
“Oh Phoenix. I’m so sorry. But you have to go home.”
“NO!”
Larry - the ‘villian’ of this story ‘helping’ Phoenix. (he’s being manipulated by Kristoph (maybe Dahlia? Hm) Phoenix seeing a world in anarchy because he ran away from the class trial that day. Because Phoenix wasn’t there to be saved by Edgeworth. To save Edgeworth. To save Maya. To meet Trucy.
Them setting the time line right.
Feenie getting to say goodbye - no not goodbye, see you later - to his future. Phoenix coming home from work to have that sweet moment at the end of the movie of ‘you keep fighting, you keep trying and loving and trusting and promise. It’ll get better.’
Feenie seeing Edgeworth and Wright holding hands. Matching rings around their fingers. Surrounded by family that loved them so much. Trucy - the light of his world - taking him home. Her hugging her Daddy to be goodbye.
Larry reconnecting with the friends he’d thought abandoned him. Edgeworth stepping up and Defending Phoenix in the class trial. Gregory meeting Phoenix and being like ‘oh actually I know a couple that was looking into adoption. I could help them push it through.’ (The Wright’s. Two lovely women who adore Phoenix.)
Just keep moving forward.

- miles, right after this case ends: “so I got accused of murder again.” Phoenix: “shit. Where are you? I’ll come defend.” Miles: “don’t worry. I fixed it.”
- no the sprites are ADORABLE. miles whipping out his watch to check the time??? His little bow?? My love
- FRAN!!!ZI!!!SKA!!!!
- “I wanted to beat you in court, but I guess I’ll have to settle for arresting you instead.” PLEASE
- her curtsy 😢
- miles none of this would’ve happened if you rode business or economy like a normal person
- franziska’s new sprites are so beautiful, they defined her face and eyes more and it makes her look older than when she was in aa2. Her hair is also much less blue which is kind of sad
- i think this case is the first time i've ever seen someone refer to edgeworth as just miles (franziska)
- Cammy: "oh! now i get it! maybe you've 'got your eye' on ms. rhoda..." Miles: "of course im keeping an eye on her! i can't very well let her escape, can I?"
- oh this Amano dude is also referring to him as Miles, and "my boy". huh...

go ahead and tell us about franziska....... please
I HAVE SO MANY FRANZISKA THOUGHTS
- She was brought up almost exclusively by Manfred von Karma and an assortment of nannies and barely remembers her birth mother, who had divorced MvK not long after Franziska was born. She's done all she can over the years to separate herself from her father but she still notices the mannerisms and habits that she's picked up from him. Most notably, she was often taught to react to negative situations with aggression and violence, which she picked up from her father unintentionally. As she gets older she tries to leave that behind, but it's difficult when that's all she's known.
- Speaking of MvK, she feels absolutely awful discussing her own feelings about her upbringing because she feels like Miles had it so much worse. As she grows up, her aggression and dominance in the courtroom is less a response to not getting her way and more a way to pretend that she's happier and more confident than she really is.
- She sleeptalks very loudly. We're talking full conversations in her sleep.
- Post-trilogy, Franziska's outfit changes to look less like MvK's. She also grows out her hair to around her mid-back and generally wears it in a half-updo.
- Post-trilogy, she stays in contact with Miles (of course) as well as the Feys. She had a crush on Maya for a while, but they become friends long before they start dating. But she also makes an effort to get Pearl to like her - which she does, eventually.
- To aid in rebuilding the Khura'inese legal system, Edgeworth sends over the odd prosecutor to help out with cases. Franziska sees a lot of herself in Rayfa as a young girl put in a position of authority that she's too young and immature to fully understand and the two get on surprisingly well. She also gives Rayfa a whip (to everyone else's dismay).
- As an international prosecutor, she has briefly worked with both Klavier Gavin and Nahyuta Sahdmadhi before. She gets on with Klavier better than she does Nahyuta (See above)
I love Franziska so much thank youuuu
