AO3 First Lines Tag Game
I was tagged by @darkpuck!
Rules: Share the first lines of ten of your most recent fanfics and tag ten people. If you have written fewer than ten, don’t be shy and share anyway.
1. See You Soon (Star Wars)
It had been months since the three of them had been in the same place at the same time.
Technically, they still weren’t--Padme was home on Naboo for meetings with the Queen and other local politicians; Obi-Wan was in his quarters on the Dauntless; and Anakin was planetside somewhere rainy, based on the way his hair was plastered to his head and the faint not-quite-static background noise.
Still, it was something like being together, even if they couldn’t touch. The chance to see one another’s faces, hear each other’s voices--that mattered. And, for the first time in three weeks, everything had lined up so they could have a call.
2. A Question of Trust (Battlestar Galactica)
Gaius hesitated for a moment before shutting the lockbox and returning it to its hiding place under the floor.
I could leave it out, he thought. I could let her see.
Which felt faintly ridiculous to contemplate; but, then again, he was contemplating…quite a few things he’d never really thought he would, lately. And this…
He rested his fingers against his skin, familiar and smooth, still slightly damp from slipping out to the lake under cover of darkness.
3. Stay (Star Wars)
What was left of the Malevolence was no longer capable of shooting at them, even if there was still one hell of a debris field to navigate through, and some of the tension in the cockpit eased.
Some of it.
There was something about the way the three of them had moved together, had fallen into sync together; both while they were fleeing through the ship and after they’d made their escape.
It was…
Padme didn’t have a word for it, other than it felt right.
4. Snowglobe (Battlestar Galactica)
She woke up first, and quietly extracted herself from the pile of blankets next to the fireplace--the fire had gone out hours ago, probably; the ashes were cold and grey.
Gaius was still asleep, a few strands of his hair--it had grown out some in the months since she’d first approached him--falling across his face, tracing softer paths than the shadows of the firelight the night before, when they’d finally found themselves here.
5. The Secret Agent Job (Leverage/Nikita Crossover)
The last job had wrapped up, without any unexpected complications other than bringing them back to the bar an hour after closing. Which wasn’t a problem; ever since they’d helped Cora straighten things out at her father’s wake, they had keys and were trusted to be in and out of the bar without causing any trouble.
Still, it was late enough that even Parker decided to just crash here for the night rather than making her way back to wherever the hell her current apartment was. She had passed out in one of the booths; Nate and Sophie had gone upstairs; Hardison was wrapping up a few things in Lucille while Eliot cleaned up after they’d had a victory drink.
6. Incinctus (Castlevania TV Series)
“That the last of them?” Trevor asked.
“Hm,” Alucard said, eyes flicking around the clearing. “I believe everything I saw in the mirror is accounted for, yes. I’ll take another look when we get back to the castle.”
7. Under This Flooded Sky (Star Wars)
There was a quiet, unfamiliar tension on the Resolute when Ahsoka stepped off of Bo-Katan’s shuttle. Master Obi-Wan was waiting for her at the base of the ramp, hands folded into his sleeves. He looked…tired. Older.
Like he’d aged more than a decade in the months since she’d seen him last.
She’d had a bad feeling about this ever since she’d connected with Yularen, and then spoken briefly with Obi-Wan to set the meeting, and that feeling surged up in the back of her head now, stronger than it had been before.
Something is wrong.
8. Protectors (Star Wars)
There were moments when it felt as if the Force itself was holding its breath, waiting for the change that was bound to come.
Sidious had experienced several such moments before, learned to sense when they were building--and, of course, learned to exploit them. But he didn’t think it would take his skill to do so now, simply access to the right knowledge.
Project Stardust was all but complete.
He was prepared, at long last, to formally dissolve the Senate, which had remained in place as a polite fiction of limits to his power for nineteen years.
A fool in possession of those two facts would be aware that this was a turning point in history.
9. Of Other Suns (Star Wars/Avatar: the Last Airbender Crossover)
“So, I’ve got good news and bad news,” Ahsoka said, rejoining Padme in the cockpit.
“Yeah?” Padme asked, looking up from her seventeenth try at getting the comms to work.
10. Preludes (Star Wars)
Faint footsteps, almost-but-not-quite masked by the soft swish of a robe against the floor; Mara focuses in on that sound, that anchor in the face of this overwhelming presence in the Force, like a gravity well, attracting everything in range.
The footsteps stop.
“You know why you are here.”

Thank you very much @lilacs-with-lavender❤️
Which fandoms do you write for?
Idk, it really depends on my mood and how obssessed I am at the moment of writing. I have a Star Wars Rogue One fic on Wattpad and a Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger fic on both Wattpad and AO3. In my drafts I have many more fandoms: Warcraft LOTR, Percy Jackson, Fairy Tail, DC, Death Note, GOT, Les Mis and idk what else.(I have also posted a Misa Amane fic on Wattpad but it’s in romanian so not many people have read that, maybe I should rewrite it in english)
Which characters do you write for?
I wrote some Misa Amane fics, I started many Jason Grace fics, I am really excited about my Maiev Shadowsong x Illidan Stormrage fics, I am also a big fan of Eponine’s perspective in Les Mis, I am sure I have more but that’s all I’m gonna say for now.
Is there any character you currently don’t write for but want to, if any?
My main girl Daenerys Targaryen and my boy Matthias Helvar, I really love them both and I wanna do them justice. Also Juvia from Fairy Tail and some Inej Ghafa x Kaz Brekker action, Luna Lovegood is also on my list and let’s just add Sylvanas Windrunner for now and also my babies Kell Maresh X Lila Bard. These are just some of the characters I really wanna start writing about.
Are you working on a fic right now?
I am working on yet another Misa fic and a Illidan x Maiev one. I wanted to post them on my birthday, but I am lazy so I guess I won’t.
What do you write most of? Fluff, smut, angst, or dark?
If it is a character I love who has been wronged by canon, that means dark angst most of the time. If it’s a couple I love, fluff all the way. It’s not always like that tho I guess it depends on how I feel when I am writing. I can switch and make it all sunshine and rainbows for my wronged faves and take a dark turn for those with an ok ending. It’s not up to my brain, it’s up to my heart :))
Do you have a playlist or specific music you listen to while you write?
Yes, I have lots of playlists, but sometimes I make a specific playlist for a certain story or mood.
Are there things you like to do while writing?
I like listening to music and sometimes checking facts on the internet, because I forget stuff from canon and I am trying to be as accurate as possible(just sometimes, if canon sucks then I’ll make my own fanon). I also like to look at fanarts to get some inspiration. Or look at aesthetic boards and pics.
What writing program do you use?
Microsoft Word and google docs. When I was younger I would write directly on wattpad but those days are long gone. I also enjoy to write by hand, it makes me feel like a writer lady from the 19th century or something.
How long have you been writing for?
I have been writing since 2013-2014, around that time I think. I enjoyed writing in notebooks and journals before that and around that time one of my friends showed me wattpad (I used to read fanfics on fanfiction.net, but never thought about writing any) and then I fell in love with writing stuff, but I am too anxious to really post stuff regularly and all that.
I have no idea who to tag so if you wanna do it then please have fun!
Now some shameless advertising:
If y’all wanna check out my 2 fics here you go
my wattpad (I don’t update it anymore, but who knows) and my archiveofourown
Have a fantastic day/night wherever you may be!

February 2018 Book Roundup
I’d that this was a pretty diverse month for me in terms of reading.  Sure, there was plenty of my traditional fantasy in there, but I also went through a biography, some contemporary YA, a historical fiction novel about Eleanor Roosevelt, alt-history, and some very silly (but very enjoyable) contemporary romance.  My favorite book of the month was probably Purple Hearts, the conclusion of Michael Grant’s Front Lines trilogy--but I’d be lying if I said that one of those romance novels didn’t rival it.  Unfortunately, my least favorite book was that aforementioned Eleanor Roosevelt book.  But hey, I tried it.
Purple Hearts by Michael Grant.  4/5.  The final book in Grant’s Front Lines/Soldier Girls trilogy, Purple Hearts sees Silver Star recipients Rio, Rainy, and Frangie return to the European front in World War II.  Rio is battle-hardened and growing increasingly fearful--not of what she faces at war, but how she, a girl very good at soldiering, will adjust to life afterwards.  Rainy is undercover and subjected to horrors that have a deeply personal ring as she deals with the guilt of surviving, killing, and becoming even colder than she already was.  Frangie is struggling with her faith, saving many as a medic but losing more--in ways that she wouldn’t have imagined.  This series--a take on World War II with the premise that girls were allowed to enlist and be drafted in America--really was way better and far more realistic than it had a right to be.  There were clumsy moments, largely because Grant is (I assume) a guy trying to be as inclusive as possible.  But you know--even when certain scenes came off as a bit awkward, I appreciated the diversity.  And the fact is that you have different reasons to bond with each of our leads, and the people they care about.  I’ll always have a soft spot for Rio most of all, because she embodies that “naive innocent turned into a battle-hardened killer” character type I love so much.  But Frangie goes through so fucking much in this book (they all do, but Frangie seemed like such an optimist at first) and even Rainy, the heroine I had the most difficulty connecting with, finally opens up and becomes a fully-realized character.  “Purple Hearts” struck me as the most brutal book in the trilogy, and there are a lot of horrific scenes throughout.  But it was ultimately very satisfying, and a great end to the series.
Empress of the East by Leslie Peirce.  4/5.  Hurrem Sultan, also known as Roxelana, was the first woman in centuries to legally wed an Ottoman sultan, thus becoming an essential empress.  However, like any concubine, she began life as a slave before catching the eye of Suleyman the Magnificent and beginning one of history’s greatest love affairs--that would result in six children and a fundamental change in Ottoman politics.  Peirce has to make a lot of assumptions when writing this book--little is known about Hurrem, referred to by the name Roxelana in this biography.  But she sticks to accuracy whenever possible, and none of her assumptions are all that out there to me.  I’d call this more popular than academic history, but if you’re looking to get into the history of Hurrem and the Ottoman Empire, I think it’s a great start.
Shadowsong by S. Jae-Jones.  4/5.  Six months after leaving her husband, the Goblin King, behind in the Underground, Liesl is attempting to make something out of her life.  Yet her brother Josef, a gifted musician, hasn’t responded to any of her letters and she finds herself unable to compose.  After receiving a proposal from a mysterious benefactor, Liesl goes to further her career in Vienna, only to realize that the boundaries between our world and the Goblin King’s are deteriorating at an alarming rate, and something is seriously wrong with her brother.  Liesl must return to the Underground to figure out what’s going on--but can she do so without losing her sanity?  This book... is a lot.  It’s beautifully written, incredibly dark at points, and takes a pretty bold turn.  Liesl’s story in “Wintersong” was really of self-discovery and sexual awakening, whereas here the story revolves--fairy stuff aside--around her mental condition and her relationship with Josef.  Along with a bit of Goblin King backstory for good measure.  And for the most part, I’d say it’s successful.  Yes, there were points where I was like “honestly Liesl should probably do something rather than thinking about how bad shit is” but... “Wintersong” wasn’t a very plot-driven book either, so I can’t say that I felt that plot was meant to be a priority in the sequel.  It’s all sort of delightfully eerie and morally ambiguous, holdovers from “Wintersong”. But it was missing the Goblin King.  Again, I feel that this book was very ambitious and super interesting and enjoyable, but it was missing something that made me absolutely adore “Wintersong”.  And I’m not ashamed to admit that that something was the Goblin King and all the emo sex he had with Liesl.  There were definitely points where I almost felt like Jones was trying to push back against the fact that most of the praise surrounding “Wintersong” was around how hot her male “hero” (................ ish) was, but I’ve got to say that that story did seem a bit more effortless to read.  Basically, I wouldn’t change the plot of “Shadowsong”, I think it’s a really good book and followup, but I would add more Goblin King and I’m not ashamed to admit it.  Still, I really loved it and was overall satisfied with the book.
Immortal Reign by Morgan Rhodes.  4/5.  I’m not going to bother on a summary for this because it’s the conclusion to a 6 (?) book series that is all very convoluted.  Essentially, Immortal Reign takes all of the characters we’ve followed and concludes their stories in the expected ways, and while I wouldn’t say that the Falling Kingdoms series is good, exactly... it does what it came here to do.  It’s a very trope-y Game of Thrones for teens type thing with a feisty princess and a brooding dark prince at the center taking up the actual plot (which involves some elemental gods or whatever) with their arranged marriage angsty sexual tension shenanigans and honestly?  It’s fun.  All’s well that ends well.
Anatomy of a Scandal by Sarah Vaughan.  2/5.  Sophie, a cossetted politician’s wife, is shocked when her husband James revealed that he had an affair with a young employee.  James is charismatic and prominent, and though Sophie can believe that the affair happened, she doesn’t believe what comes next--the reveal that James allegedly raped the woman he was sleeping with.  Kate, an experienced lawyer, is ready to prosecute James, completely convinced of his guilt.  But which woman is right?  I honestly debated doing one or two stars here, and I think I went with two because I get what the author is going for.  But like... here’s the thing.  We know which woman is right.  We know from the start, especially after James’s perspective is introduced (side note: the way the POVs were handled seemed wonky).  I’m all about the issue of rape being handled in fiction, especially when we’re talking about charismatic politicians.  It’s very relevant.  But the thing is that there is room for doubt in some cases; a very, very small amount, sure.  However, there’s a reason why trials happen in rape cases.  (Unfortunately, those trials often don’t end as they should, but that’s another issue.)  There should have been doubt in a book that touted itself as a thriller, but all I got was preachiness and a “twist” that... did not... impress me.  Kate’s perspective was incredibly holier than thou--so even though I agreed with her beliefs, I felt like I was being *told* how to feel rather than convinced through the story or writing.  Like, obviously I should agree with everything Kate says.  Obviously.  Also, the writing just wasn’t great--slow and strange at times.  The descriptions of people were weird.  Like, way to take your novel about a feminist issue and describe the evil defense attorney in a way that is suggestive of her weight--she’s described as a “weighty” woman who “plumps” herself down.  Which... whatever.  Good idea, downright unintelligent and uninspired execution that probably would have been more interesting if we focused solely on Sophie’s point of view.
White Houses by Amy Bloom.  2/5.  Lorena Hickock tells the story of her decades-long love affair with first lady Eleanor Roosevelt.  Though American history has never been my jam, I was intrigued because the existence of Eleanor’s affair with “Hick” is debated to this day, despite a lot of evidence towards the fact that Eleanor was a) interested in women and b) in love with Hick, and vice versa.  And this should have been so interesting.  Not only is there the inherent interest factor of a first lady having an affair--and with another woman in the early twentieth century, at that--but Eleanor was a multi-dimensional, controversial woman married to a controversial man (who had plenty of affairs of his own).  But Amy Bloom’s writing style and characterization of Hick (who had a horrific childhood that was handled... I don’t know, rather coldly, by the writing style) just sucked the life out of everything.  I won’t say that there weren’t some pretty moments and I feel like the approach to depicting a long relationship was good, but this was too boring.
Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann.  3/5.  Alice has recently suffered yet another bad breakup--and the reason why her girlfriend dumped her is especially painful.  Biromantic and asexual, Alice struggles to communicate to her partners how she feels, and how her romantic attraction to them doesn’t mean that she experiences sexual attraction.  Right after proclaiming that she’s done with dating, Alice meets the handsome, kind Takumi, and is immediately head over heels.  But does she dare tell him about her feelings--and her sexuality?  This book was definitely hard for me to rate, because in all honesty...  I didn’t really like it.  I didn’t really hate it, either.  It was fine.  The representation is so important that I feel like I can’t not recommend it--Alice is black, biromantic, and asexual.  That’s huge.  I don’t know if the author is asexual or not--I know she’s black--so I can’t speak to how the book handles asexuality (another reason why I wasn’t sure how to rate it) but I did appreciate that race wasn’t ignored in the book.  The thing is that while Takumi was very cute, much of the book felt more like a Tumblr spiel than a story.  Alice has a right to have her feelings hurt by the fact that her girlfriend doesn’t want to be with her; but I also felt like the girlfriend was a bit demonized for wanting to feel sexually desired, and the fact is that... that’s okay.  Alice’s friends seem to say the right things a bit too often, especially considering how little the average person knows about asexuality.  Alice herself annoyed the shit out of me, for reasons that had nothing to do with her sexuality--she was just so fucking cutesy, and in all honesty I had a hard time believing that a girl her age thought the way she did.  It also felt as if that fed into the perception of ace people as these fairy-like unicorn types who love all things soft and cute, which...  I don’t know.  Maybe an ace person would read this and say otherwise.  I’m not ace, so I have no idea. Basically: good idea, not so sure about the execution, great rep.  Important, but perhaps a little too After School Special for me.
The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden.  3/5.  Following the events of The Bear and the Nightingale, Vasya is left with two choices: marry, or join a convent.  Spirited--and still being mentored on some level by the frost demon Morozko--Vasya is quickly gains the esteem of the Prince of Moscow after a battle with bandits.  But that leaves her disguising her gender, an d in more danger than ever before.  I remember liking The Bear and the Nightingale--but I’m not sure that it left a huge impression on me, because I felt like I was going into this book blind.  I remember the characters--it’s a big cast--but I wasn’t excited about anything but Vasya and Morozko.  I don’t know, it all came off as a bit slow to me.  Beautifully written and interesting, but slow.  I plan on giving it another shot at some point.
From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata.  4/5.  At twenty-six, Jasmine is past her prime as a figure skater, and her pairs partner’s abrupt departure has caused her to miss a season.  She should be thrilled to be asked to partner last-minute with Ivan Lukov, the current world champion--but Ivan is also her best friend’s older brother, and her arch nemesis since she was a teenager.  He’s arrogant and stuck-up; she’s got a chip on her shoulder.  It’s a romance novel.  We know what’s going to happen.  But this was one of the most fun love/hate romance novels I’ve read in a while.  Honestly, there’s nothing INCREDIBLY deep going on here--the stakes are relatively low, there aren’t any major obstacles or even a last minute shocking reveal~.  Ivan and Jasmine really just need to stop being assholes to each other and fucking skate.  Also, make out.  But it’s such a fun book.  Like, the writing is nothing spectacular--there’s some repetition and awkward descriptions--but the leads’ chemistry keeps it together and I pretty much wolfed the book down.
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata.  3/5.  For two years, Vanessa has been the long-suffering personal, assistant of football star Aiden Graves, who acts as if she doesn’t exist.  Fed up with being taken for granted, Vanessa quits--only to have Aiden show up on her doorstep, asking her to marry him.  A Canadian, Aiden is in danger of having his visa expire, and the easiest way for him to stay in the U.S.--the only way he’ll accept--is through marriage, and Vanessa is the best potential (fake) wife.  After Aiden promises to pay off her student loans and buy her a house, she agrees--but can she keep her real feelings at bay?  Another cheesy but charming romance from Zapata, but this one I found a good bit less compelling.  It was likable, sure, but I didn’t feel the chemistry between Aiden and Vanessa on the same level that I did Ivan and Jasmine’s in the above book.  For that matter, while Aiden wasn’t as nasty to Vanessa as Ivan was to Jasmine--well, Jasmine dished it as well as she took it.  Vanessa, on the other hand, was just a doormat as Aiden had her wash his sheets, cook for him, basically handle everything an adult should handle... while acting like she didn’t exist.  It certainly diminished Aiden’s appeal, though I didn’t hate him.  Again, it was fun, but not nearly as good as From Lukov with Love.

Tumblr media
So, for some reason, I got the little flag saying I had a message, and I got the email alert, but when I go to my inbox the ask doesn't actually show up??? Thanks, tumblr. Anyway, hence the screencap from my email because sure.
[image description: an ask from @blackdragonhellfire: I'd love to hear more about your Star Wars WIPS! Especially the 2023 Big Bang fic] [end ID]
So, the two I listed are our faces like a mirror, which is something I've been working on for. Many Years Now, lol, and SWBB 2023 [Anakin & Ahsoka AU], which did not actually come together for 2023 and should probably be renamed for 2024 but that's a future me problem, lol.
More details behind the cut because I get Wordy.
OFLAM is a story about Bo-Katan and Satine Kryze, and how the civil war when they were teens impacted them and radicalized them in opposite directions. The story is told entirely from Bo's point of view and covers a roughly ten-year period, from when Bo leaves Sundari a few months before Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon turn up to when she eventually joins Death Watch. The way I had it structured does ignore some later timeline revelations because insert Nick Fury gif here. I have Bo as two years younger than her sister; their father dies when she's sixteen and Satine is eighteen and the war starts in the aftermath; she's sent away into hiding on her own (with two allies/bodyguards) not long after that. A few months later, her bodyguards are killed, and she escapes alone. This is when Satine reaches out to the Republic/Jedi Order for help and Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan get involved.
Bo does go back to Sundari when she hears her sister won the war and is more securely established as Duchess now, and the two of them try to make it work for a while (especially because Korkie is involved), but their different responses to the war just keep making that gap between them get wider and wider and eventually Bo leaves, about eight years after her return. This is a snippet from the epilogue but...well, foregone conclusion; we all know where Bo ends up:
“You think my sister’s beliefs define mine?” I asked. “I think I wonder if she sent you here.” “Why would she?” I asked. “Deception and subterfuge like that isn’t her style. If she knew what you were building here, she’d come after you directly. She’d come herself to get a look, if she wanted more proof. She wouldn’t send me. Not like this. If you think that, you don’t know my sister at all. You’re way off the mark.” “And what about you, Lady Kryze?” he asked, the title curling sarcastically through his helmet’s vocoder. Now I pulled my blaster, and fired one clean shot, cutting the antenna off his helmet. He, along with every other true Mandalorian gathered there, was less than a beat behind. I counted twelve guns pointed at me, and smiled. “I never miss my mark, Lord Viszla.”
The Anakin and Ahsoka AU was something I'd planned to write for SWBB this past year, but it didn't come together in time. I'm hoping to use it for next year (so there won't be any snippet shared like the last one).
Background:
This is an AU where Padme's ship went somewhere Not Tatooine for repairs; handwaving that the rest of TPM went Close Enough To The Same, even though that's not really the focus of the AU, but just to limit the fallout.
Anakin's background in this fic is--he and his mother were sold separately about two years after TPM takes place. Anakin connects with an underground movement and participates in what is ultimately a failed slave revolt. He's one of the few who manages to get away with his life, and realizes that an all-out revolt is not in the cards, with the resources/etc. available. So he spends his time smuggling supplies and people in and out of Hutt space, sometimes attacking known slavers when he thinks he has the resources. Always looking for his mom.
Fast forward to about halfway through the Clone Wars; by this point Anakin has a pretty hefty price on his head in Hutt space, but is only vaguely known to the Republic and the Separatists. Ahsoka, meanwhile, has been assigned as a Padawan about three to six months into the War (probably Obi-Wan; but I've also considered matching her up with Mace instead).
She ends up crashing on a planet where Anakin has stopped for a few weeks to restock on supplies/etc. They run into each other and pretty much immediately click; they stumble across a Separatist plot that will result in a Lot of civilian casualties and foil it, continuing to bond/adopt each other along the way.
And then the rest should be saved for when I actually write it, since unlike OFLAM, this is Not a Foregone Conclusion ending, lol.

I was tagged by @fracktastic!
The rules were: Rules: reveal the titles of the documents in your WIP folder and tag as many people as there are documents. Let others ask questions about the ones that interest them and post snippets or explain the contents as you see fit!
So, I'm nowhere near organized enough to have an actual Folder, lol. Some stuff is on GoogleDocs, some stuff is on an external hard drive...it's all pretty scattered.
But here are some working titles and/or filenames for various WIPs that I haven't started posting anywhere yet:
The Other Battlestar (BSG)
The Blood of Angry Men (BSG)
Acheron (Les Mis)
Provenance (Les Mis)
our faces like a mirror (Star Wars)
swbb2023 [Anakin & Ahsoka AU] (Star Wars)
Avatar Zuko AU (AtLA)
Kellom saturation (Original/Feredar)
Kesshare saturation (Original/Feredar)

Back to bouncing back and forth about what to do for SWBB...
(I need 6000 words in the next two weeks, which is absolutely doable, i just. need to decide what i’m actually doing, lol.)
I thought I’d settled on Option 2 from this post, but then I was rereading The Devoted to get things straight in my brain and just...nope.
Tumblr media
Which leaves me with...well, option 1 or option 3 from the post I linked above? And/or one of the other variations on Option 1, which I might be able to kick back into gear.
The things is, I think I’m really in the mood for something that’s gonna focus on Anakin and Ahsoka being bros? Which doesn’t rule out Option 3 (or Option 1, technically, though I’d rearrange some stuff to put them in more focus).
But it also gives me some other options?
Like, just doing a general Clone Wars Mission Fic is an option, but I’m kind of lukewarm on that if only because I’m not 100% sure what I’d do with it.
There’s also doing something along the lines of The Auxiliaries; Anakin never joined the Order, he and Ahsoka connect sometime during the war and Shenanigans Ensue (whether this would include Kitster and Vika and the other background I built for Auxiliaries!Verse is a separate question).
I could also do what I usually do; do some kind of post-TCW Anakin-never-fell AU focusing on him and Ahsoka, but I’m not 100% how I’d structure that.
So...asking for opinions again I guess, lol XD To simplify things, the list is:
1. BSG crossover
2. Darth Lectys tracks down Anakin during the Imperial era
3. Clone Wars mission fic
4. Anakin isn’t part of the Order; Ahsoka is; they meet up and Bond during the war
5. Post-TCW Anakin-Never-Fell Like Always, but focused on him and Ahsoka.
Thoughts? Opinions?

In the Rain
Author: shadowsong26
Rating: PG
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Anakin, Padme, Obi-Wan
Warnings: Nope.
Summary: On a rare trip together, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme get caught in a sudden storm.
Disclaimer: All characters are the property of their respective creators.
Notes: Written for the Year of the OTP event. June prompt: downpour.
I am catching up on the June prompts I didn't get to last month, and then the July ones will be coming not too long after that. I should be back on track and doing things in the correct month for August, lol.
(I am also doing this for BSG and some of my original ‘verses, if you’re interested in checking those out! One ship per canon. The fanfic ones will be posted to AO3 probably a day or two after they’re on tumblr. This fic is also available on AO3 here. Master list of all fills can be found here.)
It had been that rarest of things--an opportunity for the three of them to spend time together, alone, legitimately.
Padme had been specifically requested for a delicate series of negotiations on a neutral planet with a cache of valuable natural resources; that delicacy meant she hadn’t been able to bring security from Naboo, as that might indicate, symbolically, that she was representing her own people rather than the Republic as a whole.
But she was allowed a pair of neutral escorts for the three-day trip across the planetary divide (which had its own attendant rules and traditions); and as Anakin and Obi-Wan happened to be between assignments, it had all fallen into place so neatly.
An entire three days, with Anakin and Padme and no eyes on them.
Obi-Wan hadn’t realized how much he’d wanted something like that until the opportunity had arisen.
Especially since the terrain they were crossing was astoundingly beautiful; almost as beautiful as the two beings at his side. Mountains rising to staggering heights on either side of the narrow valley, capped by sharp white peaks; lush indigo grassland grazed by wild local fauna in varying shades of grey and brown.
Even when, late in the second day, those peaks grew shadowed with approaching stormclouds, it hadn’t dimmed the beauty, or the simple joy of the experience.
They had planned for that, of course; the local authorities had advised them how high into the hills they would need to camp to avoid getting caught in a flash flood if it rained, and, even though it would make them late for their rendezvous on the other side, they broke off early and hiked upward into a darkening sky.
And a good thing, too--the tent was barely up when the clouds opened on them.
Padme yelped and dove inside, Obi-Wan half a step behind her, but Anakin--
He had stopped, laughing, arms wide, head tilted up towards the sky.
“Anakin!” Obi-Wan called. “Come inside!”
“In a minute,” he called back, turning in a slow circle under the rain to face them, grinning. “I just want to feel this first.”
Ah, yes. Some things never really change.
It was…nice, to see him smile like that. To fall back into the simple joys of his youth; the wide-eyed delight of a desert child in the rain.
Padme’s soft sigh beside him indicated that her thoughts were probably along the same lines.
“You could join me, you know,” Anakin called.
“Or you could come in before you freeze,” Padme called back, but she was smiling.
“All right, all right,” he said, and squelched over to the two of them.
Obi-Wan caught a fleeting hint of mischief from him, too fast to realize before Anakin swept the two of them up in a close, tight, and very wet hug.
“Love you,” Anakin murmured, kissing first Obi-Wan’s cheek, then Padme’s.
“Love you, too,” Padme said, before extracting herself. “Now get in the damn tent so we can all dry off. I’ll make hot chocolate.”
“Well, when you put it like that,” he said, laughing. “I’m coming.”
Obi-Wan leaned his head against Anakin’s for just a moment before pulling away too. “The rain will still be beautiful from inside,” he said, softly. “And a good deal more comfortable.”
Anakin flashed a smile, soft and sweet, and followed them into the tent to wait out the storm.

Some days, he can almost see it.
Not the specifics, but the big picture. The important parts. Him, and Padme, and Obi-Wan, together; after the war ends.
Some days, that picture is elusive. It hides in the mud or the dust or the smoke, in the acrid tang of blaster fire in the air. Anything like peace seems impossibly far away.
But he takes a minute--when he has a minute--to close his eyes and picture it. The three of them, together. Maybe kids, someday. Peace.
It gets harder as the war drags on. But he never stops trying.
~ * ~ * ~ * ~
Some days, she can almost see it.
Anakin making flatcakes because somehow he’s the best cook; Obi-Wan smiling as he watches; the children (she’s hoping there’ll be children, someday) chasing each other around, barefoot in the grass.
Peace.
Part of her knows it won’t be that simple. Her boys will have to leave the Order, and she’ll have to leave the Senate, and that’s a daunting prospect; and as the war drags on, this future seems so very distant.
But still, she pictures that far-away morning, and she holds it close, a beacon through the darkness between now and then.
~ * ~ * ~ * ~
Some days, he can almost see it.
The details are uncertain, but frankly, they’re irrelevant. It’s a feeling that he seeks. The shadows fading from Anakin’s eyes. The tightness gone from behind Padme’s smile. The tension bleeding out of his own shoulders.
The way the sunlight catches Anakin’s hair; Padme’s laughter rippling over them.
Perhaps…perhaps even little ones, someday.
Some days, he needs to see it. Even--especially--when it seems impossibly far away.
But the war will end someday. They will share that kind of morning. Someday.
And when he closes his eyes, he can almost, almost see it.

Ooo for the wip game: ground
All right! This is way more than a sentence but XD
It hadn’t taken Zeb long to notice he was climbing the walls a little bit--Zeb was blunt, not stupid or unobservant--which is what had led them here, first thing in the morning, before Zeb had to go on duty.
To a training room, full of weapons, on the Palace grounds.
He turned to Zeb and raised an eyebrow in a silent question.
“Don’t worry, you’re clear to be here,” Zeb said. “Just...I dunno, thought you could use a chance to work out some tension before we figured out what to do next.”
We.
It was...a very nice feeling; another one he was still getting used to. Even after weeks and months of travelling up from the Border to Haven, learning about each other, then the whole process of clearing him, then living together, and…
We.
(comes from the Jedi of Valdemar AU which I don't think I've posted anything about in a while XD)
Send me a word!

Brief crossover snippet
So this is a thing I wrote...probably like a year ago? And after some Enabling from my roommate, I figured I’d share it XD
A couple brief notes--I don’t think I’ve posted this before, but I handwrote it out at some point (I’m guessing while I was at work on a call/in a meeting?) and then typed it up At Some Point, that much I do remember. ...except I can’t find the typed-up version anywhere. And I only found one handwritten page, when I could’ve sworn there were two??? But I might be misremembering.
Anyway, with that caveat aside, here’s a snippet of a hypothetical conversation between Zeb and Helo, in one of the like twelve different BSG/Star Wars crossover scenarios I’ve played with in my head. XD ((On the BSG side; this is during the period where Helo and Starbuck are hanging out with Sam and his people while Athena is MIA; on the Star Wars side it’s...sometime after the Rebels series finale but otherwise Vague.))
“Don’t...don’t think about it that way,” [Zeb] said. “Forgiveness is just...big. And total. It’s one of those things that is or isn’t, there’s no in-between or anything. And if you think too hard about it...” He stared out over the valley. This far from the cities, they still looked alive. He cleared his throat roughly. “Think about it too much, and it gets all tangled up, with the...with the guilt. That you’re here, and he’s here, and so many other people just...aren’t.”
“So, what, then?” [Helo] asked. “How’d you do it?”
Zeb thought about it for a moment. “...it’s about trust. Yeah. Trust.”
“Trust is easier than forgiveness?”
“Nah,” he said. “It’s not easy. None of this is easy. But it is simpler. It breaks down into pieces. It can be conditional.”
Helo made a sort of noncommittal skeptical noise in the back of his throat.
“Well, look at it this way,” Zeb said. “There’s people I absolutely trust to have my back in a fight, but I wouldn’t trust ‘em to watch my kids. Not ‘cause they’re bad people, but they’re bad with kids, specifically.”
“i see your point.”
“And with Alex...” He stared out over the valley again, thinking. “Most people, unless they’re fanatics, you can trust to act in their own self-interest. You can trust ‘em to work together, if you need each other to survive. Alex was the first--and probably still the only--Imp I’d trust not to stab me in the back the second the crisis was over. And, you know, we got to talking, and I realized we had more in common than we didn’t--even figuring he’s a spy, and all the twisty shit that comes with that. And I figured...if he took the blinders off, used his spy skills to investigate the people he worked for, instead of us...I figured I could trust him to do the right thing, once he had all the facts. And I trusted that he was...I dunno, strong enough? That resetting his brain like that wouldn’t break him.” He smiled. “And you know what? The bastard proved me right. Over and over again. And now there’s no one I trust more. He’s...my partner. No other way to put it.” He paused. “...except when he hogs all the blankets. Then he’s my nemesis again.”
Helo laughed. “Yeah. I guess that’s fair.”
He turned back to Helo. “So...I guess that’s my advice, for what it’s worth. Ask yourself if you’re willing to give her the chance to earn your trust. But, Helo--you have to really mean it. She might let you down, and yeah, you gotta be prepared for that, but if you tell her you’re giving her a chance but spend all your time expecting her to stab you in the back...” He shook his head. “It’ll blow up in your face. Trust me. It’s not fair to either of you. And if she’s telling the truth about being pregnant, it sure as hell isn’t fair to that kid.”
“...yeah.”
“So, think about it,” Zeb said. “If you can do that. And if she earns it, maybe you’ll realize, one day, that forgiveness snuck in when you weren’t looking.”
[the blanket joke is shamelessly stolen from my Enabling roommate. credit where credit is due XD]

(I am admittedly not 100% satisfied with how this one came out (which is why I’m posting it so late in the month, lol) but I’m satisfied enough to post/to not keep fiddling at it for the next day, so here we are)
What was left of the Malevolence was no longer capable of shooting at them, even if there was still one hell of a debris field to navigate through, and some of the tension in the cockpit eased.
Some of it.
There was something about the way the three of them had moved together, had fallen into sync together; both while they were fleeing through the ship and after they’d made their escape.
It was…
Padme didn’t have a word for it, other than it felt right.
She risked a hand on Anakin’s shoulder; stole a glance at Obi-Wan. She couldn’t read him as well as her husband, but she could have sworn there was a flicker of that same something there.
Anakin took his eyes off the viewscreen for a moment, first to meet hers--and that was much clearer; I’m so glad you’re all right, that we all made it out; her Anakin had always worn his heart on his sleeve--and then followed her gaze over to his former master.
And then back at her.
Then back to Obi-Wan; and back to her.
He took a breath, and nodded.
They were still learning, a little, how to communicate. Everything had happened so fast, after all; from reconnecting to confessing to the wedding on the balcony, and with so many eyes on them, with the War and who and what they were…
But even now, already, after so little time, there were times when they didn’t need words.
She squeezed his shoulder briefly, and smiled.
He smiled back, twisting the steering column to avoid another chunk of Grievous’ ship.
“I should make contact with the fleet,” Obi-Wan said, getting up out of the copilot’s seat. “Let them know we made it out all right.”
Giving us space. Just like back there on Malevolence.
He knew. At least part of it. Which made it easier and harder all at once.
But Anakin took one hand off the steering column, caught the edge of Obi-Wan’s sleeve. “Stay.”
Obi-Wan paused. “I…” He looked over at Padme.
“Please,” she said, holding out her free hand to him. “Stay.”
“…yes,” he said. He took her hand, raised it to his mouth, planted a soft kiss on the back.
She squeezed his hand, then pulled him closer and kissed him, gently, but full on the mouth.
Different, from kissing Anakin. The beard, for one thing; and Obi-Wan didn’t taste exactly the same.
But it was no less warm, or sweet, or wanted, or right.
He pulled back after a moment, but he was still smiling, his eyes shining softly. “I really do need to call in,” he said, but he made no further moves to go.
On his way back to the copilot seat, he paused for a breath, and bent down to kiss Anakin’s cheek.
Anakin huffed. “Really?”
“You’re driving,” Obi-Wan reminded him.
“I’m a better pilot than that.”
Padme rolled her eyes and grinned at them--at both of them; both of her boys; both of her Jedi.
There were still details to work out. Obi-Wan wasn’t necessarily as willing to bend the rules as Anakin was, but…
But they’d made it this far. They’d come together. The most important question had been answered.
They’d figure the rest out along the way. Together.

(I am also doing this for BSG and some of my original ‘verses, if you’re interested in checking those out! One ship per canon. The fanfic ones will be posted to AO3 probably a day or two after they’re on tumblr. This fic is also available on AO3 here. Master list of all fills can be found here.)
Obi-Wan carefully extracted himself from the bed; slipping out from under Anakin’s arm as smoothly and silently as possible.
With a reasonable amount of success. Padme didn’t stir, and if Anakin noticed him leaving--and he might have; Anakin had always been a fairly light sleeper--he chose not to comment or react, which was all Obi-Wan needed for now.
He pulled his cloak on--not bothering with the rest of his clothes; the other room was private enough and he had every intention of returning to his lovers in a few moments.
Lovers.
He tasted the word for a moment; considered it in this context, how it applied to himself, and Anakin, and Padme, separately and together.
It wasn’t that he hadn’t had lovers before. Brief encounters, mostly; a pleasant companion for a night or three, quietly in the background or aftermath of a mission; sometimes repeating the experience when their paths crossed again. Some became friends--and some had been friends first, and remained primarily platonic friends after or between.
And, of course, there had been Satine.
But how much of that had been war and danger and desperation; the fact that they were both very young and thrown together so completely?
He might never know, not for sure, not unless Satine came back into his life in some way. But…no. No, what he had felt then, in that time, and in that place, it had been real. Denying that because this relationship felt different wasn’t fair to any of them.
And it did feel different. If he and Satine had matched one another like a pair of gloves, opening his heart to Anakin and Padme was more like…like the sensation of a dislocated joint sliding back into place.
True, once again, there was war and danger, although perhaps less desperation, he thought. Certainly the three of them weren’t quite so alone as he and Satine (and Qui-Gon) had been years ago.
Although they were alone in this. For…several reasons, political and otherwise, they would have to at least try for discretion. The others hadn’t…well, Obi-Wan knew Anakin very well, after all; perhaps he shouldn’t judge their ability to keep this particular secret too harshly. Until the War was over, or until Ahsoka passed her Trials, whatever this was should remain between the three of them.
And after that?
He thought about it for a moment, stroking his beard contemplatively.
Prescience had never been one of his stronger gifts, but for a moment, he could see it. Their future together. Perhaps not entirely calm or peaceful--Anakin would find some mess to dive into; and Obi-Wan had seen enough of Padme’s floor speeches to know that her intensity was only slightly more tempered than their partner’s.
…partner.
That was it, wasn’t it. He was already thinking of them as his partners. In the romantic or familial sense; not just what his relationship with Anakin had grown into over the past few months.
Am I ready for that? he asked himself. Is that truly a commitment I am prepared to make? That I want to make?
He mulled that over for a moment, his hands falling still. The idea of stepping back, of being once again outside what they shared; the idea of being in and out, pleasant company from time to time but shying away from a deeper commitment; the idea of…being with them, as fully as he could--as any of them could--with the War and the Order and the Senate and all their other responsibilities.
Yes, he thought. Yes, that is what I want. What I can give. What we can be. Together.
The decision settled over him, a layer of warm contentment. That sense of something falling into place again.
Ready now, he went back into the other room to rejoin the others; as he’d half-expected, Anakin’s eyes were half-open, watching him as he slipped through the door and out of his cloak.
Moving slowly, probably so as not to disturb Padme--still asleep on his other side--Anakin stretched out a hand.
Obi-Wan smiled, and took it, bending down to kiss it briefly before sliding back into the bed beside him.
Anakin’s arm fell naturally across his waist once again; and, basking in the feel of his partners lying beside him, Obi-Wan closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
