Only 40 days left ...
until Summer Grand Prix in Wisła!
And 160 days until the start of World Cup season 2018/19. That might seem much but we've already made it 77 days without ski jumping and if we reach Summer Grand Prix, it'll have been 117 with only 120 left, so we can do it!!!

Actually, 100 days without ski flying and even longer without ski jumping because the last WC competition on a large hill and not a flying hill was in Trondheim but whatever.

Ski jumping WC season 2017/18 is over--what now? A first aid kit.
Don’t panic! It’s gonna be okay.
First of all, take a deep breath. The season was quite demanding for the fans, too. Recharge your batteries in the next couple of days/weeks, just like the jumpers will do.
Now, there are some things to look forward to in the summer. We don’t have to wait that long for some competitions! Summer-Grand-Prix starts on July, 21st. Maybe plan a trip?

Ski jumper Freund: World Championships in Seefeld are the big goal
Severin Freund was Olympic champion, world champion and overall winner of the World Cup. Then two ACL ruptures threw him back. But the thirty-year-old doesn't give up - and wants to be back on the very top again.
He had to wait over a year for this moment. Instead of enjoying the weightlessness during the flight, he was busy with his bachelor's thesis, rehab and on the cross-country ski run. At the start of the week, the Bavarian jumped from a large hill again after a long time of suffering - and was instantly hooked again.
"I see the potential to get back again to where I was before. I do need the goal ahead and the feeling, that it's possible to reach it any time," Freund told the DPA.
At the moment the double world champion of 2015 is training for the winter season with the A team of Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger. Freund's goal is evident, as he tags almost every post on social media with it since his surgery after the second ACL rupture in July 2017: Road to Seefeld.
The Nordic World Ski Championships in February 2019 urge the thirty-year-old on and motivate him. "It's the big goal I'm working towards," said Freund. But he knows: "You can't expect everything to continue just like it did when you left." In one and a half year without a competition on a hill, he has kept his reason and realism.
His passion for the sport, too, still seems to be endless. Freund and his wife Caren are expecting a baby in autumn, a "Minifreund", as the father-to-be wrote. "He is in a classic phase of life where priorities shift, but he seems to love ski jumping so much that he doesn't want to resign," said German coach Werner Schuster about his long lasting showcase athlete. For the Austrian, it's "a pleasure to have him back again".
Due to the success in Pyeongchang where Wellinger won gold and silver and the DSV team was runner-up, Freund is only one of many "eagles" all of a sudden. His way back to the top is long, but it urges the ambitious economics student further on. "It isn't enough for me to just jump with the rest. I'm not the type for that," said the most successful German ski jumper of the era after Sven Hannawald and Martin schmitt.
Freund took his time until he threw himself off a hill again. On July 6th, he shared a video of a jump off a smaller hill on Instagram. Now he is lead back to the level bit by bit. "At the moment, it's just about him jumping from hills again. He must wangle the hill sizes again. Then it will be important that he gains safety again," said coach Schuster. So far, this process was without complication for Freund.
The Olympic team champion of 2014 and overall world cup winner of 2015 doesn't plan a comeback during the ongoing Summer Grand Prix. But he stressed that a comeback in Klingenthal in October might be possible. In the coming weeks, he wants to build the basis for a long winter of competitions with four months of travelling and competition stress. "From now on the real work begins. So far everything is going well," said Freund. "Now it's time to really pick up steam."

It was Miran Tepeš who decided the suits were too low (crotch length)
Now it's most important to find out what exactly led to the disqualification and why the suits were okay just last season but not now.
Good suits were one detail which led to the success of the Norwegian team in the past, but they were always according to the rules but of course close to the limit of what is allowed. The team was very successful but at the same time avoided disqualifications. The strategy was never to risk a DSQ but rather have a little bit more material on the suits.
So now the two DSQ came as an even bigger surprise right before the start of the new season. They considered the competition as training, to see if everything is okay again. Both Robert and Daniel were good in the training, even another reason not to risk a DSQ because of the suit.
Last time, Miran Tepeš disqualified 9 of 40 jumpers, but the Norwegians didn't compete - so now they had to pay for that this time.
Sondre Ringen had to have his suit measured three times and got a warning for 0,2 cm missing in crotch length.
Apparently Tande's waistband was too high and even trying to readjust the suit (both by him and by Tepeš) didn't satisfy Tepeš so Tande got disqualified. But Tande didn't say at the time that he was wearing an old jumping suits that he had worn a lot last winter and never had had any problems with when it was checked. It hasn't been altered and everything is the way it was before (crotch length, waistband).
[It is speculated that maybe the two got disqualified because the Norwegian team didn't compete in some of the SGP competitions.]
Clas Brede Bråthen said they are confused now and will try to understand why the suits were dismissed.
