KohRin Headcanons
Inspirations for their dynamic in order:
Nuts and Dolts (platonic soulmates/queer platonic)
Vanoe: Deeply intimate, close friendship, borderline queer romantic (tell me they aren’t in love, tell me)
Hak/Yona: I just love them and I love that Hak and Kohaku would protect their girl.
EdWin: Childhood friends who fell in love (I’m a sucker for it)
Kyoru: I can’t explain it, I just know it’s as cute as this.
Who initiates their first kiss: Kohaku. They’re both in their teens and it’s more of a kiss that was meant to be on the cheek but Rin turned her head up to talk to him. Sesshomaru did punch him when he found out but Kohaku didn’t protest (Sango did almost beat Sesshomaru though)
Rin fell first. She’s loved him since they were children. But Kohaku fell harder.
I like the idea that they got married in their twenties and had three children.

Sunrise is commiting many mistakes with themes like racism, homophobia, pedophilia and sexism in the anime Hanyo no Yashahime, and I understand those people who wants to keep watching this anime since it is the sequel of InuYasha. However, I can’t understand and believe that (a small group of) people in this fandom are actually DEFENDING the way the anime are showing those themes and even saying and doing more terrible things just to forgive Sunrise’s mistakes.
It is pretty sad that such a great anime that was InuYasha became something like this... I don’t have any strength left to hate only Sunrise’s work anymore, because I think this (small part of the) fandom is worse than Sunrise.
If you are a white, straight, man and/or never suffered from sexual abuse, you should NOT talk in the name of people who suffered for a long time (and is still suffering) for being who they are. You don’t have the right to ilegitimate people’s fight/suffering. When people with the right to speak says how bad they are feeling, you just SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH, because they are actually asking for HELP! If you say that their feelings is bullshit, and that they are overreacting, then you should review your values, because you are actually blaming them for something THEY DID NOT CHOOSE TO BE!
You don’t need to put yourself in the place of the other person, but you MUST give everyone respect! You don’t need to feel that person’s pain, you just need to KNOW that the pain they felt is real. Denying help is not right, yet it is better than attacking people that showed to you their deadly wounds. Yes, people can die in real life for being black, gay, a child and a woman and your actions and misplaced words can actually be responsible for a death, so think twice before posting nonsense and defending a crime, be it in literature, be it irl.
Btw, I am really glad to be with the antis of this fandom. I like how smart, gentle and patient we are, even with THAT disgusting side of the fandom taking us as clowns. I wish we could be more noisy, though, because even if we cannot save HnY anymore, we still can be a good reference as human beings and as InuYasha’s OG fan.

Ok before you all start another civil war send death threats to Sunrise and Rumiko, or whatever you are about to do with all that free time nobody knows how you manage to have. At least read the timeline this hardworking fan managed to put together with checked facts.
Rin was not 13. Not 14. Not 7. Not newborn when she got pregnant. Stop removing 1-2 years from her age every week to feed your narrative. Two weeks ago she was 17, last week she was 16 this week she is 13. The least you all can do is get your facts straight. I am unbiased in these tantrums and sick of both parties being mentally ill.
Conclusion: Rin was 18 when she gave birth, 17 when she got pregnant. Do whatever you want with the information.
The debate on wether is ok or not for some grown ass dude to date a 17 yo he knew since she was 8 can go on, i'm not your mother. All of you are entitled to your opinions but at least stop arguing about her fucking age.
Also keep in mind no valid source ever confirmed Rin's age to be 8 in the OG series. She could have easily been 9 or 10 but let's settle it for the worst case scenario and let her be 8 the way the fandom agreed long time ago and start from there.

Don't bother to send me death threats or whatever the f**k you impulsive weirdos want to send me before even reading the timeline. If you can have a civilised debate on the issue AFTER you have gotten your facts straight, I'm 100% open to it.

ahahah hi so this is gonna be like a lil introduction post 🤪
first i wanna say that i’ve been watching inuyasha since i was 7. my older half sister (by 10 years) used to spend the weekends at my house and we used to bond over sneaking into the living room to watch it on adult swim at night. so this is formative media for me and i love it with my whole heart
which brings me to saying that i absolutely hate how the original story is being brutalized by sunrise, and the way the original characters can barely even be described as puppets of themselves in yashahime
inuyasha was my first anime and sesshomaru was one of my favorites from the beginning so seeing my favorite character being twisted into a child groomer and an awful person in general is kinda distressing
that being said, i dont want this blog to be constant bashing on yashahime. there will Definitely be yashahime bashing but i also really want somewhere to post the things i loved about inuyasha so that will be here too.

Things in my fanfic I feel like oversharing cause I have a compulsive need to:
I originally had a whole side story planned on how Rin, Kohaku and Hisui became vampires but I decided to scrap it. Partly because I love this characterization of Rin that I have and the idea of writing out her traumatic experience isn’t something I want to do. That would be just a big chunk of trauma porn and I don’t want to make readers uncomfortable (or myself).
There will be backstory to their turnings though. It will be explained.
Towa and Setsuna are still SessKagu twins and do have human nights. But their ears are pointed cause they would look cooler cause I said so.
Confirmed couples for this fic are as followed: established InuKag, SessKagu, MirSan (slight, but it’s potent to the story) and RikuRin {I will explain}
Kohaku does have a love interest but he’s currently healing from his relationship with Shiori and his LI is respectful.
Hisui is the oldest of the four kiddos, the absolute mom friend and his only weakness is when Moroha gives him puppy eyes. He can’t say no to them. He has tried and failed.
Moroha is second oldest cause she was born about a year after Sango’s disappearance.
The Tuna twins were born months later, and Setsuna hates that she’s the literal baby of the group.
All four of them are 18-19 in physical appearance and also mentally. They may be close to 500 years old but they’re all college aged with a bit more brain cells.
On that note, Towa is the only one of them to have actively gotten her college education. She studies in the States. She dragged Hisui along her second semester there and the two attend Duke University at the start of the fic.
Moroha is taking college courses online but she also has shrine maiden duties since she helps her great-grandpa and grandma run the Higurashi shrine.
Setsuna doesn’t give a shit. It keeps her from spending time with Kohaku (who is her uncle, mentor and second father figure)
Rin thinks it’s cute.
On the topic of the slightly older kiddos.
Because Sango literally was only 22 when she disappeared, I played around with idea I’d having Kohaku be physically older than her.
So he’s 26 while Rin is 23, the same age as KinGyo. Riku is physically 25
On the subject of Rin and Riku being a romantic item, they were originally going to be friends to budding lovers to enemies who hate fuck while mutually pining for each other but I did not feel up for writing that dynamic. Too toxic and irritable.
Instead, Rin is the personification of ‘looks like a cinnamon, can kill you’. A big inspiration for her characterization is Yor from Spy x Family. But she takes strongly after her mama Kagura and won’t hesitate to curse someone out.
Riku and Rin were friends before anything. Their friendship is what lead to her being kidnapped and cursed by Zero. I’m still working out those kinks on how it caused vampirism. 
Riku defected to Sesshomaru’s side after Rin was cursed. They didn’t start a relationship until years down the line.
Towa still has the silver pearl in her eye, Setsuna still has her gold pearl. Moroha wears her red pearl around her neck like a pendant.
Also, the girls’s hair does the Ghibli puff. Moroha’a hair is wavy like how Kagome’s was in the earlier manga so it’s adorable.
On the subject of character physical changes: Moroha’s eyes are more brown with a gray hint while Towa’s eyes are crimson. Setsuna retains her looks but their red streaks are dyed in honor of their mother.
Moroha gives Hisui blood. But he makes her promise it’s not unless it’s dire.
Kohaku, Rin and Hisui can go days without blood but no longer than six. If it’s been to long, their eyes turn spider lily red and they start to go into a feral state.
KinGyo are featured more in the later half of part 2. This fic idea is long but I am taking my time to write and work it out. But the Goldfish twins are featured.
Kin’u helps run the Higurashi shrine while Gyokuto has been taking care of the demon slayer village. Sesshomaru made it so the land was gifted to her family. So the cover story is it was in the family for years. She has a small weapons’ workshop and works with guns. She also handles demon slaying in Japan while the kiddos are away.
One of them is a lesbian, I’m still deciding which one.
Kohaku and Shiori almost had a child. But they decided against it because they weren’t how Kohaku’s vampirism would take in terms of genetics, since he’s still alive.
Shiori died during the Taisho era. Her death hurt mostly Setsuna and Kohaku.
Shippo and Soten took over taking care of the hanyo village.
Kohaku works as Sesshomaru’s informant. He’s actively looking for the Four Perils and Zero, and has always been just a step behind them.
It’s actually how he met Yuichiro (his love interest), who is human.
InuKag run a flower shop. Kagome wanted to open one in remembrance of her friends. She named it after Sango.
This whole story is going to take place from 2010 to 2014 😅

Y’all. If Sesshomaru didn’t love Rin he would have never:
1. Married her
2. Gave up his title
3. Had children with her
4. Protected her and their children
5. Stayed by her side in the tree
I’m surprised people don’t realize that. He has a different way of showing his love. He is more of a show than tell kind of person. I have complete faith in him and I know that he’ll make things right at the end. Rin trusts him as well. She even said out loud: “I have faith in you Lord Sesshomaru.” He isn’t a bad father, he’s just trying to protect his family!

Sesshomaru waited 10 years by that tree. The only times he left were “help” Kirinmaru and to protect his babies. He loves his wife so much that he stayed by her side. He’ll keep doing it until she wakes up. Even if he has to wait an eternity.

Sessrin was canon the moment it was announced that the twins were half demons. There is literally no other human that Sesshomaru cares about. It’s been almost 2 months since Yashahime season 1 ended and I’m still not over this scene! Sesshomaru’s gasp when he sees his wife suffering and in pain. The realization that something is wrong. He loves her so much and he wants to take away her pain. I don’t think we’ve ever seen him make these facial expressions before and that makes this scene even more sad! I really hope these two have the happy ending they deserve.

Please remember that Jaken said that he would eventually collect Rin and bring her to the barrier where the twins were, so I truly believe that she raised the twins until the forest fire. Sesshomaru, Rin, and Jaken obviously didn’t tell Kaede where they were going, so it makes sense that she thought Rin disappeared.

He still just can’t go behind Kirin’s back yet or else I believe Rin could be in danger and his kids could be killed as well. I still have faith in him and you should too! 😄
