“Is Hyunjin oppa doing well?”

“Your biased self is showing, Seri.”

Seri snorted at Seungmin’s statement while listening to the other chuckle. They were sitting in the JYP cafeteria just catching up on each other. The two idols were there for quite a while with Seri talking about TXT’s comeback and Seungmin talking about Kingdom. Of course, the teasing from the older was never absent. She wasn’t one to back down from it, either.

She smirked at the boy seated across from her. “Jealous, Seungmin?”

“As if,” he rolled his eyes at her, “I don’t think I’d ever get jealous. Or did you forget after going off about your new project?”

“But you were jealous about that!” Her laugh filled the cafeteria while Seungmin just frowned in front of her. “Please, when I told you the I was working on a special release with Dino oppa, you were complaining why it wasn’t with you!”

The way the elder shook his head in exasperation amused her. Just the week before, she had told Seungmin about discussing with HYBE regarding her releasing a song on her birthday. They thought it would be good promotion as long as she allowed for this one condition. When she told him they allowed for it to happen so long as she let Dino work on it as well and have her feature on a dance video with him, Seungmin was sulky.

“To be fair, I am your oldest friend in the industry outside of TXT.”

“Need I remind you of Ryujin and Chaeryoung?”

“Oldest guy friend,” he emphasized on the word guy, “and if it were for promotion, then wouldn’t it make sense to have the two of us? Remember when there were photos of us leaked from MAMA.”

She laughed. “MOAs and Stays had a field day. But, it’s for promotion of both Seventeen and TXT. We’re under the same company now, so it’s helping each other out, I guess. Next time, let’s do a collab.”

“Sounds good.” Seungmin nodded and leaned forward a bit, glancing at her bag. “You know, I could hear your phone buzzing for a while now. Shouldn’t you answer it?”

“It’s probably just Gyu.”

She glanced at her bag. It’s not like she hadn’t felt it vibrating, she just found it rude to open her phone while in the middle of a conversation with someone. Her members knew that, so why would they be calling or messaging her when they knew she was with a friend?

Just as she was about to pick up her phone, Chaeryoung came running towards them, surprising the two best friends as she slid in on the chair next to Seri.

“Oppa, hi,” she greeted a little frantically, “I need to show something to Seri real quick if you don’t mind.”

He didn’t get to answer as Chaeryoung shoved her phone into Seri’s hands.

One glance at the article’s title and she knew she was in trouble.

She quickly sped through the article, reading through each word. They even got a picture! now that was terrifying. She could feel Seungmin sit on her other side and read over her shoulder. In distress, she gave the phone back to Chaeryoung and buried her face in her hands.

“Oh my god,” she groaned, “what do I do?

Seungmin chuckled while returning to his previous seat. “Looks like we have to be more careful when we hang out. Can’t have everyone thinking you’re cheating on Dino sunbaenim with me.”

“You’re a demon, you know that?” Seri side-eyed him before turning to Chaeryoung. “When was this released.”

“Earlier today,” the dancer informed her. “Why didn’t you tell me you were dating someone? And Dino sunbaenim? I would have thought you’d date Beomgyu or Seungmin oppa!”

Seungmin choked on his drink when he heard his name. Seri rolled her eyes and reached across the table to hit Seungmin’s shoulder until his chest cleared up.

“Shut up, don’t act like dating me is your worst nightmare.”

“I think it might be just that. Ow— Hey!”

Seri ignored Seungmin’s cry of pain as he rubbed his head where she hit him. She turned to Chaeryoung who was looking at the two strangely. “Chaeryoung, I’m not dating anyone. It’s to early for me to date. I need to work on improving first, remember.”

“So what were you doing with Dino sunbaenim?”

“Well, for one, we work in the same building,” she deadpanned.

“They’re also working on a collaboration,” Seungmin piped in. The look she gave him was only returned, making her sigh.

“Yes, we are,” she nodded. “It’s for my birthday. God, what do I do? What are the members going to think?”

There was a moment of realization that passed between the two JYP artists. Chaeryoung’s eyes widened while Seungmin burst into laughter.

“Oh, you are so getting grilled later,” he laughed at her. “Send me a video. I’m sure it’ll make Hyunjin laugh.”

“It won’t because he’s actually nice to me, unlike you.”

“What are you going to do?” Chaeryoung asked as Seri pulled out her still buzzing phone.

Multiple messages from her members and a few friends. Over a dozen missed calls from Yeonjun and Beomgyu. She could already hear their lecturing in her head as she watched the number of messages increase on her lockscreen. She managed to catch one from her manager saying that he was waiting in the building’s parking lot for her with Taehyun.

“I’m gonna wing it and see how long they’ll lecture me before I tell them what’s actually going on.” Seri shook her head as gave Chaeryoung a hug and stood up. “I should have told them about this birthday project rather than kept it a secret. Then maybe my phone wouldn’t be buzzing this much.”

Seungmin reached over and picked up her bag for her. “I told you to tell them. Did you listen to me? No.”

“I wanted it to be a surprise! See you at the venue later, Chaeryoung! I’m looking forward to completing our Mafia tiktok.”

The older boy led her towards the parking lot as she shut her phone off. He lightly bumped his shoulder against hers to catch her attention.

“You good?”

“What?” His question slightly caught her off guard. “Oh, yeah. I’m fine. Just mentally preparing myself to be lectured by Junnie oppa and Gyu. You should have seen Gyu on White Day.”

“You got tackled, yeah?” When she looked at him questioningly, he laughed. “Yeonjun hyung told Changbin hyung. I happened to be there.”

“It’ll be quite another episode, I expect.”

“You’ll be fine. Soobin’s always on your side, isn’t he? And Taehyun, too? Try to talk to them first before you go see the others.”

“Noona!”

The two turned towards the end of the hallway where Taehyun was waiting. He sped over, smiling and bowing slightly to Seungmin in greeting. The 02 liner took her bag from Seungmin and almost immediately clung to her arm.

“I’ll take care of her from here, hyung.”

“You got it, Taehyun.” Seungmin smiled at the boy then proceeded to ruffle Seri’s hair. “Till next time, shortie.”

She barely managed to hit Seungmin’s arm as he jogged back into the building. Taehyun helped her sort out her hair while they walked back to the car.

“You know,” he began, “if you were to date a sunbae, I would have thought it would be Seungmin hyung.”

“Why does everyone say that?” Her exasperated tone made Taehyun laugh as he opened the car door for her. “And I’m not dating anyone! Sit tight, I’ll tell you on the way to our schedule.”

Sure enough it wasn’t peaceful the moment she and Taehyun arrived. She was bombarded with questions the moment she entered their waiting room. It was already draining the life out of her, and it’s only been a few seconds. With a silent greeting of hi to the four boys, she took the uniform she’d be wearing and headed to the mini dressing room in the corner to get dressed.

“Seri,” Yeonjun called to her through the curtain, “you’ve got explaining to do. You know you can’t be dating yet! I promised your mom and dad that I’d watch out for you, but you go and get into a relationship without telling me anything?”

“Technically,” Soobin cut in, “you didn’t promise them anything, I did. And this isn’t a big scandal, it’s actually mostly positive responses by the looks of it all.”

“Hyung! She was with a boy!”

“We’re boys.”

Beomgyu’s huff of indignance made her laugh. “Thanks, Binnie oppa!”

All she could hear after that was Yeonjun and Beomgyu going off about how Soobin was too soft on her. She laughed a little as she finished putting her uniform on. She stepped out a little where Kai was waiting right by the door, a look of curiosity on his face.

“You’re not actually dating someone, are you, noona?” He reached for her blouse and vest, helping her tuck them into her skirt in the back portion.

“Thanks for asking me first, Ning,” she turned to give him easier reach. “No, we’ve actually been working on something together. I wanted to keep it secret for a while, but I have to keep dumbo number one and dumbo number two over there from going crazy.”

She smiled at the younger as they got the uniform to settle on her in a way that flattered her body. He brought her over to the stylists chair where she was presented by Taehyun with a bunch of different hair ribbons that their stylist had left with him. Their stylist began to comb through her hair, adding gentle waves to it for a not too glamorous yet not too plain look.

“This one,” Kai picked out the black one and placed it on the table for their stylist to see.

Seri smiled. “I liked that one, too.”

“Yoon Seri!” Beomgyu appeared next to her, turning her chair to face him and lightly grasping her face in his hands. “You’re dating Dino sunbae? Is that why you’ve been leaving our floor in the company so often? And you didn’t tell me anything?”

“Hands off, Beomgyu,” their stylist lightly hit the Daegu boy’s hands away. “I still need to touch up her makeup.”

“Sorry, Noona.”

“Would you calm down?” She laughed as she lightly squeezed Beomgyu’s arm. “Didn’t Taehyun explain to you?”

“I tried, Noona,” the younger spoke, “but he and Yeonjun hyung were too busy coming for Soobin hyung to listen to me.”

“Call their attention, Ning.”

With a determined nod, Kai took a deep breath before letting out a scream, effectively catching everyone’s attention. There was a moment of silence as everyone turned to the maknae before the door opened.

“You guys good in here?” Yoonmi asked while peeking her head through the door. “I was on the way to Jihyo unnie, but I heard Kai screaming.”

“We’re good,” Taehyun smiled at their senior, “no need to worry.”

“Alright.” The BTS girl let out a small giggle at everyone’s somehow still frozen state. She looked towards Yeonjun. “Oppa, dinner later with Channie oppa and Changbin oppa, yeah? Don’t forget again.”

With that, the young girl closed the door to their waiting room. The TXT boys turned to face Seri as she continued to have her hair fixed.

“I’m assuming from the hundreds of messages and dozens of phone calls, you guys read the article?”

“There are so many things wrong here.” Beomgyu shook his head.

“Yeah,” Yeonjun nodded, “like the fact that you suddenly have a boyfriend that none of us had a hint of?”

Their stylist laughed when she heard that. “You mean you haven’t told them yet?”

“Only Tyun so far. Soobin oppa, too, because he’s leader and we needed to work stuff out.”

Yeonjun, upon hearing this, turned to Soobin and pointed at him accusingly. “You knew and didn’t tell me? I’m her father!”

“I’m her best friend and your roommate!” Beomgyu’s voice was slightly offended.

Soobin raised his arms up in surrender. “She said she wanted it to be a surprise!”

Just then, Kai leaned closer and whispered to her. “That’s great news, noona! Hopefully these two hyungs calm down long enough to hear what’s going on.”

“Let’s let them go off on Soobin for a bit longer,” Seri whispered back to the 02s. “I’m amused they’re not lecturing me. Thanks for explaining to Ning, Tyun.”

“I got your back, Noona.”

The younger half of the group watched as the Choi line had an exchange until their stylist finished with Seri’s hair and the fixing of her makeup. The whole time, she was listening to Yeonjun and Beomgyu repeating their arguments in different words and phrasing. The two were talking in circles, which was amusing. Beomgyu’s satoori was put for everyone to listen to, as well. Once their stylist left the room, she dusted her hands off.

“Guys!” Her yell caught their attention. “I’m working on a song with Dino opp for my birthday! The company wanted me to collaborate with him to promote both TXT and Seventeen.”

Beomgyu’s and Yeonjun’s jaws dropped. The two exchanged a look while Seri nodded.

“You’re working on a song?” Beomgyu asked her.

“Yup!”

“And Dino sunbae is working on it with you?”

“Yes, he is.”

Yeonjun asked the last question. “So, you’re just working with him? No relationships?”

“Nope,” she smiled, “just a friendship. I’m not looking for a relationship right now.”

“Oh thank god!” Yeonjun sighed in relief as he followed Beomgyu in hugging her. “My heart isn’t ready to see you off with another boy like that yet.”

The warmth of the hug spread through her, especially when Beomgyu nuzzled his face into her neck. She chuckled and hugged the two boys back. They had been so panicked over nothing, it was quite amusing. A glance at Soobin’s relieved face from not having to face the two other Chois’ scoldings made her just laugh out loud.

“Sorry about all the yelling.” Beomgyu’s voice was muffled coming from where he buried it between her neck and shoulder.

“It’s good.” She let her hand run through his hair a little. “I’m sure Dino oppa got even more grilled than I did.”

Kai snorted. “You should have heard the voice message Yeonjun hyung left for him.”

“Oppa!” Seri gave an indignant yell, pulling away from the three way hug.

Yeonjun sighed. “Alright, I’ll go apologize. I just had to make sure he wasn’t going to do anything stupid.”

the vlive starts with seri logging on and waving

she’s playing new rules in the background and staying quiet for the first two minutes

“moa! how are you all?”

she smiles and reads through the comments

she reads a few out loud and sees a few comments asking her to say i love you in different languages, to which she complies to

she turns off her music first and fixes herself in her chair

“bet you guys are wondering why i’m live today, huh? we’ll get to that in a bit. for now, let’s answer questions”

she looks through the comments carefully until she reads one out loud

Seriiiiiii! 5 Beomgyus or 5-year-old Beomgyu?

she laughs at this

“maybe a five year old bammie. he always makes a big deal of being older than me by a few months, so it would be good pay back”

she then pulls out her phone and scrolls through it before turning it towards the screen. it was a picture of beomgyu as a kid

“see this? he sent this to our groupchat the other day. tiny gyu is cute”

how are youuuuuu?

she claps her hands together and smiles at the live

“i’m doing great, thank you! i’ve been practicing harder, and i feel pretty good”

she scrolls through the comments again and takes a sip of her drink. she lightly mixes her drink around and places it back down

“you guys should try peach tea. it’s a godsend. oh, what’s this?”

shall we go on a date?

“you didn’t turn up at our last date”

she pouted a little and laughed

“i waited at the rooftop for a while, but you didn’t show up! but i guess we can go again because you’re moa”

she shifts a little and shakes her head amusedly at her own words

“do i sound like gyu?”

Hi Seri! I have a couple questions 😊 What has been your favorite era music wise and style wise? What hair style/color do you want to try? What's your current favorite song? What are you looking forward to most?

her eyes widened a little before she looks up trying to come up with answers to the series of questions

“oh, wow, i guess you could say i really liked our songs from the minisode album, but my favorite title track is run away for sure. actually, i take that back. i like the songs on dream chapter magic the most! in terms of style... dream chapter magic as well! i really like new rules’ styling especially”

a small smile makes its way to her face as she’s about to answer the last question from that comment

“right now, i’m really looking forward to our new album, and i hope you’ll like it as well! so far, the tracks are amazing!”

any plans for a comeback with the royals?

“i don’t know” she laughs and looks off camera “what do you think?”

yoonmi’s giggle can be heard while seri just laughed

“you exposed me! anyway, we’ll see when the three of us get an opportunity again” “you guys heard yoonmi”

seri takes the live and points it to the side, revealing the magenta-haired girl peacefully sitting in the dance studio near her while working on something on her laptop

“yoonmi is working on school stuff even if she just released a song yesterday” “responsibilities”

Seri baby are you aware that Seri sounds like berry? Therefore you are now berry Seri or Seri Berry 🤔

“oh, that’s cute! seri berry... i love it! i’m a berry now! i can replace strawberries, i don’t like strawberries”

she wrinkled her nose at the thought of the red berries as the sound of a chair moving came up. seri looked off camera and waved to, supposedly, yoonmi

“yoonmi has a meeting right now, so she’s off. anyway, back to our live”

Hiya Seri how are you liking the new building? What do you think has changed the most about you since you became an idol? And out of the members who do you think has changed most since you debuted?

“the new building is actually the best thing ever, i swear! there’s a lot of space, and the facilities are all high quality! honestly, i’m the only txt member who doesn’t get lost, so it’s pretty funny when the others have to ask for my help to walk around”

she then pressed her lips into a tight line while thinking about her next answer

“since becoming an idol... i think i became more confident. the others tell me this a lot. they say every comeback my stage presence gets better, and i look more comfortable? i also became a better dancer for sure. not the best yet, but i’m working on it. also maybe kai? first of all, he’s gotten way taller now. second, he’s been more mature. yes, he’s still our baby, but he handles things a lot more maturely now. sometimes he acts like he’s older than me as well”

hi bestieeeeeee! what do you think you’d be doing if you weren’t an idol?

“hey, bestie! musical theatre for sure!”

seri immediately perked up at this. she jumped back in her seat a little with the biggest grin while remembering her experiences

“i loved it back in school! honestly, my parents were pretty supportive about my involvement in theatre and my little brother kinda brags to his friends that his sister goes on stages to perform. it’s kinda cute”

would you consider acting? or maybe starring in a musical?

“oh for sure if i were given the chance!”

you dance amazingly! your artist of the month video with studio choom was absolutely perfect!!!!

“oh my god”

she covered her face and groaned before pulling out her phone and looking for the video on youtube. before pressing play, she looked back to the camera

“thank you, but i’m a little embarrassed about this. i wore red lipstick on stage for the first time after debut, and i showed a side of me that’s pretty different…”

she pressed play and watched the video, cringing at herself. it took a whole 20 seconds before she gave up and hid her phone behind her

“nope. nevermind, i can’t watch that. thank you, i’m glad you enjoyed it”

thoughts on the people you’re being shipped with? 👀

she burst into laughter upon reading this

“ah, yes. shipping. i see you guys on stan twitter with your little edits and headcanons and aus! honestly, it’s amusing. apparently most of you ship me with gyu and seungmin? and a few other people, too?”

she was quiet for a while like thinking about who moas shipped her with. she shook her head with and began talking again

“gyu... well, bammie’s my best friend, and i love him a lot. it’s been us from the very beginning, so i like to think we’ll be as close as ever until the end”

“seungmin is the bane of my existence”

she laughed at this before waving her hand

“kidding! he’s actually really nice, and i love hanging out with him, it just so happens our friendship is based on bickering. we do support each other though. seungmin, if you see this, you did well on love poem”

she then lit up as if just remembering something

“some of you guys ship me with chaeryoung! interesting considering you all see me as ryujin’s sibling, but please, i’m not worthy of the queen herself. i love chae with all my heart honestly she’s such a sweet child”

her phone buzzed and she glanced at it a little bit before turning back to the live

“perfect timing because hyunsuk just messaged me and some special ship mentions are hyunsuk and jeno oppa. i think it’s because i hang out with hyunsuk’s little siblings a lot. but jeno oppa? we just met earlier this year, it’s a little funny how apparently a lot of people ship us when we haven’t really shown our friendship much”

she typed something one her phone before chuckling and shutting it off once again. she looked through the comments until she found the topic she was looking for

What’s up with you and Dino? 👀👀👀

“ah, this. this brings me to the reason i went live. recently, you guys have seen me and dino oppa hanging out, right? well, we’re not dating. i wanted it to be a surprise, but he’s helping me with something for my birthday, and i agreed to do something with him for their youtube as well”

her phone rang, and she laughed before picking it up and putting it on speaker

“hello? you’re on speaker” “seri-yah! how dare you deny our relationship?” “oh? you’re watching?” “look up, stupid. i’m standing by the door”

she looked off camera and laughed

“yah! oppa, what are you doing here?” “miya told me you were gonna talk about the scandal, so i thought why not come early?”

dino appears next to seri in a mask and a hat. he nudged seri over to the side so they could both be centered on screen, making her raise her eyebrow at him

“meet my new dance partner” dino points towards seri whose eyes widen as soon as he said that

“they don’t know yet!” “you said we were working on two things together!” “but they didn’t know one of them is dance!” “might as well tell them so we can clear up this rumor before i get attacked by moas”

she sighed at him

“i’d get attacked by carats. anyway, fine. dino oppa’s helping me with a song, and he’s making me dance with him for a video. you can look forward to this in july”

dino adjusted his hat and leaned forward a little

“no need to panic, we’re not in a romantic relationship. she’s too tall for me”

“... you’re literally taller than me though?” “not by that much. if you wear heels, we’d be the same height, and i don’t think i’m up for that”

she playfully rolled her eyes

“looks like i’ve discussed what needed to be cleared up now. i’m single. single.” “yes, they get the point” “oh, would you just go already?”

she was pretending to push him away while he laughed at her failed attempts. he moved off camera but stays in the room

“no way, we’ve got to work the choreography out today”

“this is gonna be a while,” she muttered before smiling at the live once again “well, time for me to go. i’ve got a lot of work to do to be on par with a member of seventeen’s performance team”

dino’s groaning could be heard from the side

“this again?”

she laughed

“bye moa! hopefully that cleared things up, and hopefully you enjoyed this little tmi session”
