It's becoming more obvious to me that just like Classic Elitists in the late 90s/early 2000s, people can't handle Sonic remotely having actual emotional maturity and reflection. They'd rush to defend "Big Oof" as "He's just saying kewl slang" while ignoring that Sonic in canon can actually read the freaking room. It makes the Pontaff joke hate seem even more hypocritical, especially since even those games Sonic doesn't even joke in tense moments
When fans say they want Dark stories back, they oddly never consider that it'd mean having characters actually read the tone/mood of a scene. Frontiers people noted that Sonic's friends oddly never deeply question his struggle, and just whine at him like nothing major is happening
Imagine in SA2 if Sonic made a trash joke after Shadow's sacrifice, or in 06 upon seeing the article of Elise dying he just makes a pun. He'd be beyond punchable, just a 90s character mockery
Ironically Ian keeps writing him aggressively blasé to other character's feelings, because he keeps mistakening "optimism" for "cracking a joke". Even Evan falls victim to this (Sonic flat out ditching Kit and not realizing the negative connotations of "sir" and aggressive pining)
The closest you get to canon of Sonic failing to read the room is
-Shadow, where he walks in excited as Shadow just stopped musing his trauma. This is made up for him gradually opening up to Shadow in Ark Levels regarding his past in SA2
-BK where he notes Gawain was too dramatic for the suicide, though he prevents it. He gradually understands more about a Knights honor the rest of the game, seen especially in Percival and Dark Queen Merlina fights
Vs far more examples of semi solemn acceptance or maturity
-SA1 in both noting that Chaos won't be dissuaded, and silently accepting that Chaos is liberated from its anger
-SA2 in quiet self reflection in comparison to him and Shadow after the sacrifice. He wordlessly gives Rouge the ring prior since she worked closely with Shadow
-Shadow during the race in one of the Ark missions he
-Battle despite being shaken up on Emerl's death he reassures Tails that humanity can be free of turmoil. He also assures Shadow that he isn't a weapon
-Rush he knows Blaze is dealing with internal conflict of distrust. Later he goes to Cream post story to reassure her that Blaze is fine
-06 he knew Elise would go back to repressing herself. It's why he took her to the garden, why he had her run for a bit, and why despite knowing this the greater good in resetting the timelines was needed
-Secret Rings he correctly assumes Shahra had a past fling with Erazor, but doesn't press on it. After the battle, even though he himself hates tears, he grants her the tissues to cry till she feels satisfied
-Unleashed he grapples with self esteem issues. Yet despite that, he wants to help Chip, and in the end he muses on Chip's sacrifice before running off
-Black Knight he notes Merlina's odd fascination on death of a flower. He remembers this later as he's giving his speech to her
-Lost World he feels responsible for losing Tails and the conch. When alone after everyone's gone he quietly mourns, then moves on to stop the Zeti
-Forces he is aware Avatar is a newbie, but never brings it up, for their confidence
The irony of all this, fans complain he isn't emoting and expressive unless he's hyper moody crying like Archie, but then are fine when he's just dismissing anyone out of tone
And for the last time, he's not supposed to be a chatterbox
Honestly...this all sounds like no one wants to think more than "cool hedgehog"

Surprise kiss <3
Here's that A.R.K. Chao garden, @shadamyheadcanons
Of course Gerald, his team, but especially Shadow and Maria grew different kinds of plants on the A.R.K., like hostas and palms. They'd plant them in the Chao garden later. They would use a daylight simulator for that :) Not in the least place because I was simply too lazy to draw a starry sky and apply the lighting and shading that would come with that, hehe^^ Not that there's no daylight in space, but the light would be extremely fierce at one moment and cast the entire A.R.K. in shadows the next... I'd like to think everyone aboard would often visit the Chao garden to get their needed portion of sunlight, apart from wanting to chill and play with the Chao, so they wouldn't start feeling too depressed. Lack of daylight and an isolated environment can do that to creatures, among other things. I tried to draw the Chao garden portal that's used in Sonic Adventure and combine it with the Project Shadow logo, so that's that thing with the red light in the background :p

Let’s try this again...
So for those of you who can’t currently see asks, I was informed in an ask about this statement by Ian Flynn in regards to why IDW Eggman acted the opposite of a respectable, well-characterized Eggman during the zombot arc:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Needless to say, this Steamed my Hams. Here’s why. (Credit to @beevean and @colony-drop-program for several additional points.)
In SA1, Eggman was constantly one step ahead of the heroes by swiping their emeralds, had both Chaos and the Egg Carrier operating at the same time, resorted to a missile when both were seemingly dealt with (which only turned out to be a dud cause of bad luck), and revealed a second Egg Carrier in the event that Chaos would betray him. And in the case of the missile - he was clearly at his wit’s end by that point, and suicide attacks on the brink of a villainous breakdown are common among many villains, including clever schemers... like Eggman.
In SA2, Eggman suspected there was a fake emerald in the mist that the heroes wanted to use to trick him, so he set up a situation perfectly in a way that would reveal which one it is.
In Battle, he was able to drive Emerl insane with energy in case the robot defeated him in battle.
In Unleashed, the game starts with Eggman setting up a trap based on the expectation that he would know exactly how Sonic (or rather, Super Sonic) would react, and it worked flawlessly. And upon learning that Dark Gaia woke up too early and his spawn were scattered all across the planet, Eggman managed to lure Dark Gaia spawn to him, and he still able to create Eggmanland and did his best to prevent Sonic from reaching the final temple.
Even in ‘06, he had that trap where he sent Sonic and Co to the future. It may have relied on the heroes being stupid, but it still counts as Eggman preparing for something.
Even in Heroes, arguably his most pathetic role in the game canon due to being locked in a room by his own creation for the whole game, he still had the initiative to hire the Chaotix into getting him out. And Metal Sonic’s flaws with his own plan... are Metal Sonic’s. Not Eggman’s. Metal Sonic didn’t take control of Eggman’s plan, he came up with his own plan to begin with. Metal’s failings in Heroes are not in any way, shape or form the fault of Ivo’s, and I don’t know why this example was even mentioned.
And keep in mind, these are just the games where Eggman was still upstaged. We’re not even going into the games that KEPT him as the top dog from start to finish, like in Sonic 3 & Knuckles where he’s constantly doing everything he can to stall you from reaching the Death Egg (which implies planning at least some of it in advance), Rush Adventure where he created the pirates as a proxy to search out the Jeweled Scepter, Colours where he kept his mind control cannon a secret, Generations where he teamed up with his past self in order to tame the Time Eater, Lost World where he brought a Cacophonic Conch with him to subjugate the Deadly Six, then bounced his way back up even after they stole his tech, and everything in Forces (storing Phantom Ruby copies, the artificial sun plot in case the Death Egg was destroyed, being able to dispose of Infinite in case he acted up, keeping the real Phantom Ruby for himself, even having a second mech inside the first mech in case the latter was destroyed).
Hell, the entire reason he set up a racing tournament in the original Sonic Riders was so that he could uncover the Babylon Garden.
And didn’t Flynn himself write that Mega Drive comic from a while back? The one where Eggman made a similar SA2-style bargain ploy for the last Ancient Gear, only to then reveal he had the other Gears already once he got it?
Eggman may be careless at times, with occasional details, but he’s not a Mephiles-tier moron who doesn’t understand the concept of a plan or strategy. He’s a mastermind, with many elaborate plots over the years to live up to that title, and when he’s not planning things out in advance, he’s just as quick to improvise or take advantage of the situation as best as he can.
He knew what would happen with Chaos upon feeding him Chaos Emeralds, because...
Tumblr media
He knew something would happen with Dark Gaia, because...
Tumblr media
(He also proceeded to kidnap Professor Pickle for the specific purpose of obtaining even more information on the subject.)
And while he may not have known exactly what Project Shadow was at the time, he still knew its existence in the first place (and by proxy, the ARK’s existence), because...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...And he brought a Chaos Emerald along with him. And knew the password, “Maria”.
There is no excuse for the doctor to just shrug and do absolutely nothing upon being informed about a potential error in his plan. The fact that Ian Flynn - a man who has worked with this character for over a decade, and thus by all means should know this character by the back of his hand - completely disregards this official, canonical element of the main villain of a 30 year old franchise, only makes me less willing to trust any of the characters’ handling under his pen. And that’s putting aside how questionably handled everyone else has been in IDW.
And you might say “But it’s IDW, it’s a different interpretation”. But here’s the thing: it’s following off of Forces, a game where Eggman was at his brilliant best. There’s no way you can go from his backup-plan-after-backup-plan strategy from that game, to his DarkSydePhil-tier “nothing I could do dood” showing in this comic, and chalk it up to anything other than, at best, an extreme display of inconsistency. And as far as we know, this isn’t even the cause of those mandates that everyone loves to point to... this was all Flynn.
So yes. If I wasn’t certain that Flynn’s widespread fandom status as the Best Sonic Writer of all time, every time, was just a teensy, tiny bit exaggerated... I am now. I may be an Eggman fan, so naturally that does fuel my annoyance with his statement on the doc, but I’d be just as annoyed if it were any other character who was blatantly misinterpreted to this degree, even if it were a character I was apathetic to or even flat out disliked.
Best Writers™ do not selectively choose how characters from long lasting IPs act. You can experiment with a character. You can play around with a character’s traits. But you can’t turn a character completely inside out and expect it to work just like that.
It doesn’t work.

The Babylon Rogues are Dimension Hoppers and I can prove it
Tumblr media
[ID: The Babylon Garden flying through space, as seen at the end of Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. End ID.]
I have several points to make in this theory, so I’ll make this intro brief. Here is what I will be attempting to prove in this fun little essay:
The Babylonians are not native to Mobius
They are, in fact, native to Blaze’s dimension
They used to be dimension hoppers, but after the fall of the Babylon Garden they had to cease activity
The dimension-hopping can be proven by looking at Blaze’s world, Sonic Boom, possibly Black Knight, and finally and most damningly, the Arabian Nights of Sonic and the Secret Rings.
Let’s continue.
Babylonians are (canonically?) not native to Mobius
Very quickly, let’s go over some important lore for this theory. This might seem a bit “boring” for the moment, but please give it a read for context.
Tumblr media
[ID: Ancient ruins showing the legendary Divine Wings, as seen in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. The Divine Wings looks similar to a spaceship, with two orbs atop and four “wings.” End ID.]
A bit of detail is given in Sonic Riders as to the Ancient Babylonians, such as that they are believed to have been genies. (Remember that specifically for later.) Their incredibly advanced technology marked them as separate from the other ancient cultures.
As revealed in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Ancient Babylonians believed in a legendary bird known as the Divine Wings. From what we can gather from what Tails is aware of and Knuckles reads from ancient inscriptions, the legends say that the Divine Wings rode the gods through the heavens, but lost their plumes to the dark and fell to the ground. The plumes became “stars,” returning to the land- these “plumes” (the Arks of the Cosmos) being the power sources that were sought after throughout the game.
Tails eventually concludes that the Divine Wings was a spaceship, and that this “lightless black” that attacked the Divine Wings turns out to have been an actual Black Hole; while Tails believes it may have been programmed into the Arks as a warning “for people to step away from power beyond control,” what actually seems to have happened, though, may have been less of an intentional precautionary measure and more of a malfunction. It’s just as likely that the Arks went out of control either by themselves (as technology is want to do) or due to something in the planet’s atmosphere, threatening to turn their ship’s engine into the black hole.
Unable to control the Black Hole, the Babylonians then lost their ability for space travel; they disconnected the Arks from their ship, sending them into the planet’s orbit. Their ship, the Babylon Garden, crashed onto the planet; while it still floated, they were unable to leave the atmosphere, and thus wished for every “falling star” to be their Arks to help them return home. They only managed to recover two over time, both of which were sealed away separately until it was safe to relaunch their ship.
Tumblr media
[ID: The Arks scattering throughout space, from Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. End ID.]
The Babylon Garden remained floating and the Babylonians resided there, eventually becoming notorious thieves, though they are also famous for their technology, including their magic carpet (again, note for later) and “angel wings” they gave a boy that gave him a bit too much power.
This “too much power” seems to have “incurred the wrath of the gods;” the Babylon Garden was buried beneath the Sand Ruins, while the Babylonians scattered, though the Key to the Garden was passed along. Their history, though, turned into legend.
Tumblr media
[ID: Art showing an angel-like creature striking lightning down onto the Babylon Garden. End ID.]
So, here is the “proposed” timeline:
Babylonians are aliens
Crash land on Mobius
Become thieves
Gods get pissed and “tower of babel” them
sidenote, but considering the known gods of the Sonicverse are Chaos, Illumina, Light/Dark Gaia and Solaris... I’m literally losing my mind imagining this unlikely group banding together and saying “yeah. yeah these birds need to go”
But here’s a question... what if it wasn’t a spaceship at all?
What if the ship could hop not across different planets, but through different worlds?
The Babylonians were not aliens from another planet, but from another dimension.
And the first of my evidence is that Babylon has actually been seen in another canonical dimension.
Babylon Exists (but is abandoned) in Blaze’s World
Who here remembers Sonic Rush Adventure?
Tumblr media
[ID: A stage logo from Sonic Rush Adventure. It reads “Sky Babylon” and features a purple jewel among leaves. End ID.]
Very clearly, a certain “Babylon” does appear in Blaze’s dimension (which we’ll call the Sol Dimension for clarity’s sake). And this isn’t just speculation; the pirates and Blaze refer to the ruins as “Sky Babylon” within the game.
From what Blaze says, Sky Babylon was inhabited by an ancient civilization, and was a continent in the sky. However, one day “it fell from the sky and crashed into the ocean.” Quite similar to the Babylon Garden, huh? After the continent fell, the people had to live among the land-dwellers, but longed one day to return to the sky, leaving keys to point the way.
Sidenote: Blaze later finds ancient writings discussing the ruins- eerily similar to how Tails and Knuckles found out about the Divine Wings in Zero Gravity. And the writing says “To reach our homeland, head north along the shallows.”
Tumblr media
[ID: Screenshot from Sonic Rush Adventure, of the Sky Babylon stage. Sonic is swinging on a rope beside pillars. End ID.]
So, let’s review similarities between Blaze’s Babylon and Sonic’s Babylon:
Ancient Civilizations living in floating cities
The continent later fell from the sky and crashed, becoming lost overtime
The people had to live on the planet but longed to return to the sky
Keys were left; the word “key” refers in Blaze’s world to the signs explaining how to reach Sky Babylon, while in Sonic’s world the key is the ability to open the Babylon Garden, left to Jet.
Ancient Writings were left explaining the lore.
Now I’m sure you’re all thinking, “Gee, Connie, it’s probably just the other dimension’s versions of the Babylonians, just as Blaze is another dimension counterpart to Sonic and Marine is the counterpart to Tails.”
But something interesting- almost nothing in Blaze’s world shares the same name as Sonic’s world. Even ones with similar names have notable differences- Eggman is Eggman Nega, the Chaos Emeralds are the Sol Emeralds, etc. And that’s literally the only two things with similar names, unless you count the South Island/Southern Island thing. (Which are. very common names.) Babylon is exactly the same in both dimensions.
“But it’s Sky Babylon and the Babylon Garden, that’s different-” No, actually. The Babylon Garden were the spaceship, and only became a homeland after crashing. Sky Babylon is referred to exclusively as the Babylon Homeland. So what if Sky Babylon was their home base, and the Garden was their ship?
This also isn’t the only dimension with hints of Babylonians.
Babylonian Hints in Other Dimensions
Now these two may be reaches, but they’re just setup to when we hit the big guns, so strap in.
In a canonically different dimension to the main games, the Sonic Boom games have several floating cities with very little backstory.
Tumblr media
[ID: The Sky Citadel in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. Though abandoned, it is in good condition, and features several stone pillars and hanging plants. The citadel is among the sky and vaguely foggy, as it stands above the clouds. End ID.]
In Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, Team Sonic finds their final chaos crystal in the Sky Citadel, an enormous city located within the clouds; however, it has been long since abandoned, with only ruins remaining. In Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, Lyric imprisons Amy in Cloud Sanctuary, which are several floating islands joined by roads and hidden by the clouds. Once again, in the sanctuary are ancient ruins; there are no remaining people, only remnants of a lost civilization, with zero explanation as to what this city is or was.
It is assumed that both of those worlds are remnants from the Ancients like Lyric the Snake; however, unless I’m mistaken, there is no confirmation of this, only the news that the Ancients hid the Sky Crystal in the Sky Citadel in order to keep it from Lyric; there’s no word that they lived there. In fact, wouldn’t hiding a chaos crystal from Lyric in a place that he lived be a really bad idea? Not a great hiding spot, guys.
Another sidenote, but speculation: should, as I’m sure you’re inferring I’m implying, these lands have belonged to the Babylonians of the Boom!Universe, who is to say that they didn’t find the hidden Sky Crystal and steal it? They’re notorious thieves after all.
The Sonic Boomniverse also has ancients with insanely powerful tech... hmm.
Secondly, let’s bring in Sonic and the Black Knight. You see, on the modern Babylonians’ ship, a painting of a pirate hawk is hanging above Jet’s desk. It has been speculated to be Jet’s father, or at least an ancestor. In this portrait, this captain holds a sword.
Tumblr media
Now, let’s, um. Compare that sword to Caliburn, one of the sacred swords of Camelot.
Tumblr media
I’m gonna be honest; at least to my untrained eye, I believe that the Babylon Sword pictured here is very similar in color and shape to Caliburn. The connector to the blade may be a bit more rounded like Laevatin, however that may just be the blurriness of the portrait. Now how would a Babylonian locked in Sonic’s dimension get access to Caliburn?
Well, you say, Sonic was transported to another dimension in Black Knight, wasn’t he? So they could have been summoned at some point, that’s not evidence they purposefully hopped dimensions.
But let’s go back to that. Sonic was transported to another dimension in Black Knight... and also in that other Sonic Storybook.
Which one was that again?
The Big Guns: Sonic and the Secret Rings
Tumblr media
[ID: Concept art from Sonic and the Secret Rings. End ID.]
Let’s talk about the source of the name Babylon for a moment.
Babylon was also a city on Earth; it was in ancient Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq. The name at the time derived from the Akkadian bav-il or bav-ilim, meaning “Gate of the Gods.” The city was featured in several stories within Abrahamic culture- the Tower of Babel (which I referenced earlier!), the enslavement of Jerusalem resulting in the famous stories of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. In at least Jewish and Christian tradition, Babylon symbolizes oppressors and worldliness. The city is even personified in the Christian book of Revolutation as the Whore of Babylon.
But outside of this reputation, the city is known as an archeological marvel; very impressive architecture, an interesting code of law, and one of the seven wonders of the world, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, a tiered garden.
Sources: Mark, Joshua J. J. “Babylon.” Ancient History Encyclopedia, Ancient History Encyclopedia, 23 Oct. 2020, www.ancient.eu/babylon/, also the fact I am and was raised Christian so I Know This Christian Stuff™ just trust me
There’s more I could get into, but I’m sure you’re already bored- yeah, yeah, Sonic Team named their cool ancient civilization after another cool ancient civilization, who cares? Here’s why I mentioned this, though: Babylon was in what is now Iraq. Iraq, as anyone with a georgraphy education would know, is in the Middle East of the planet. Know what else is in the middle east?
The Arabian Nights.
Know what the Arabian Nights influenced heavily, almost exclusively?
The first Sonic Storybook, Sonic and the Secret Rings.
Tumblr media
[ID: A screenshot from Sonic and the Secret Rings, showing Shahra the Genie and Sonic having a discussion. End ID.]
Remember all the way back in the beginning when I mentioned genies and magic carpets being a staple of SonicWorld Babylon? Well, genies are definitely canon to the Arabian Nights World, with Shahra and Erazor Djinn, and the idea of a magic carpet, while not appearing in Secret Rings, is very much a middle eastern staple, which most modern people connect to Aladdin, which Shahra references first and constantly throughout the game.
Now, two very interesting dimensional instances are featured within Secret Rings. First off- the titular seven rings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Three screenshots of a scene from Sonic and the Secret Rings; Sonic and Shahra are attempting to grab a blue water ring. Sonic says, “Looks like I’m the only one that can touch [the rings]. I betcha it’s because I’m not from this world. Does that mean these rings aren’t from this world, either?” End ID.]
The rings, though insanely powerful, cannot be touched by anyone but Sonic. While it’s never confirmed, Sonic theorizes that the reason for this is that the rings are also from another dimension, possibly even his own. Now how would rings from another dimension end up in the Arabian Nights?
The second dimensional fun thing is one of the bosses in this game- the Ifrit.
Tumblr media
[ID: Screenshot from Sonic and the Secret Rings. The Ifrit Golem rises from a fire pit. Sonic is shocked, and Shahra exclaims, “It’s a djinn that controls fire... it’s called an Ifrit!” End ID.]
Now, I could go a lot into certain theories about the Ifrit, but my sister covered that topic pretty well with her kickass Infinite/Solaris theory. So instead let’s just cover the basics.
Ifrit’s name also has sources in Abrahamic mythology, though this one is specifically from Islam. It is a powerful demon, usually identified with spirits of the dead. The whole “death” thing isn’t really brought into this but, you know. Interesting.
In Secret Rings, the Ifrit Golem is summoned by Erazor Djinn in order to burn pages of the Arabian Nights. It seems to be vaguely robotic, but considering it was summoned and seems to be alive I assume it’s just possessing some kind of robotic form, but most importantly it is mostly brown and red and is able to control fire. When Erazor summons it, he claims it is condemned by Iblis (a powerful djinn in Islamic mythology, former angel cast out of heaven, but also literally half of a god in Sonic 06, which was in production around the same time as Secret Rings) and also says he summoned it from Jahannam, basically hell.
Tumblr media
[ID: A loading screen from Sonic Rivals 2, showing the Ifrit there, breathing fire. End ID.]
Ifrit also appears, however, in another game released the same year; Sonic Rivals 2. And it is mentioned to, again, be from another dimension. It is summoned by Eggman Nega to destroy the world, but is defeated by the Sonic Squads™ and eventually left trapped in its own dimension. It is, once again, incredibly fire-based, colored red and brown, and actually has mind control powers now, so that’s cool for it I guess.
So in two games, released the same year, Ifrit is connected to different dimensions; Arabian Nights, Jahannam, its own hell-dimension (possibly Jahannam?), and also a bit of Mobius, as Gerald Robotnik was noted to have studied the Ifrit’s legendary power.
So Secret Rings has rings from another dimension, and a fire demon from another dimension. Also a blue hedgehog shows up and does some stuff there idk. Which means that Secret Rings is no stranger to other dimensions popping in and out.
What this whole tangent is leading to- Arabian Nights is clearly connected to dimension-hopping. And Babylon is connected to the Arabian Nights by several things- specifically, the name and history, the magic carpet, and the genies.
(Does that make Jet and Shahra distant cousins?)
Also another interesting thing: the Levitated Ruins.
Tumblr media
[ID: A screenshot from Sonic and the Secret Rings. Sonic is running through the sky, and we see several manta-ray like creatures, called the rukh, with cities built upon their backs. End ID.]
The towns there are built on the back of flying rukh flying through the atmosphere.
Flying ruins again? Interesting.
Very fucking interesting.
Conclusion
Tumblr media
[ID: Screenshot from Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. The Babylon Rogues look up at the sky, where the Babylon Garden is flying into orbit. End ID.]
So, let’s get down the facts:
Despite almost everything in Sol having a different name than in Mobius, the Babylonians have the same name.
Sky Babylon in Sol was considered the Babylon Homeland, but abandoned after it fell into the sea.
The Babylon Garden was some kind of ship, but it crashed on Earth.
The Babylonians in both dimensions longed to return to the sky and left keys for their descendants to make that possible.
The Babylonians are connected by visual cues to Sonic Boom abandoned cities (with no word on who lived there or where they went), and possibly even Black Knight.
Due to their name, similar technology, and the legends of genies, the Babylonians are also connected to the Arabian Nights.
Arabian Nights itself has a lot of dimensional shenanigans going on.
The Babylonians are connected to Sol, Mobius, Sonic Boom, Black Knight and/or Arabian Nights.
So. What conclusions did I draw from this?
Some thousand or so years ago, the Babylonians, originating in Sol, had the technology to hop between dimensions.
Considering they later became notorious Mobian thieves, we can assume that thievery was also in the picture during these ancient times. How easy would it be to be a thief with dimensional powers? You steal something, hop dimensions, and then hop back when the cops are gone.
Either the first dimension they went to or their main hangout was the Arabian Nights; they picked up a lot of the culture/tech, such as magic carpets and genie myths. Possibly due to this, the Arabian Nights has an open connection to other worlds.
Perhaps the Seven Rings actually came from Babylon, stashing these cool new gems into their inbetween world and forgetting to pick them up.
They set up some cities on flying manta rays, nbd.
They also hopped into the Sonic Boom dimension, where they made some sky cities to rest in inbetween dimension hops. Upon their ship’s failure, the sky cities were left abandoned.
They also may have visited the Black Knight dimension.
During one of their dimension hops, their ship, the Babylon Garden, goes to the Mobius dimension; however, something in their tech fucks up within this dimension’s boundaries/atmosphere.
This one’s just a wild speculation, but if they came from Sol, Sol and Mobius have different emeralds, so I think they may have different power sources.
In order to prevent a Black Hole from destroying them and this other dimension, the Babylonian travelers split their power and fall into Mobius. There, they live on their Garden until it falls.
Back in Sol, Sky Babylon also ends up falling; perhaps whatever caused the Garden to fall hit Sky Babylon, or perhaps some other disaster occurred before Babylon Prime could figure out what happened to their Garden.
The Sol Babylonians settle among the land.
Eventually they all either forget the dimension hopping or it becomes secret as fuck.
So what’s the full conclusion?
It’d be really funny if the Babylonians learned the Arabian Nights prophecy about a blue hedgehog saving their world and passed that story along forever but it just went completely over Jet’s head because the second he saw Sonic his gay kill bill sirens went off and he was like “I have to race him” and it takes him years to remember.

Inspiration
After the success of Sonic Adventure, SEGA wasted no time at getting a sequel in order. By this point in time, however, Sonic Team had split into two teams, Sonic Team Japan and Sonic Team USA (which relocated its offices to San Francisco) for Sonic Adventure in order for the USA Team to localize it. Sonic Adventure 2 was made by Sonic Team USA (and it is the first Sonic game to be made by Sonic Team USA as Sonic Team Japan was working on other titles like Phantasy Star Online), who used their new surrounding home of San Francisco, California as inspiration for their level design (The famous City Escape and Radical Highway levels are some of the biggest examples of this) as well as Yosemite National Park for their scenery and game environments.
Story
In the game, there are two (technically three) story arcs, which are Hero, Dark, and Final Story, which can only be completed once the initial two arcs are completed first.
For the Hero Arc, the story begins with Sonic busting out of a military helicopter and escaping into the city below due being a wanted criminal. His crime? Nothing, as he was framed for a “look-a-like” hedgehog called Shadow, who had causing a ruckus all over the city. He knows that Eggman has something behind this, so he gathers his friends in helping to defeat Eggman and whoever this Shadow guy is...
For the Dark Arc, the story begins as Eggman discovers his long-passed grandfather’s secret weapon Shadow the Hedgehog a.k.a “The Ultimate Lifeform”. Using this new ally, Eggman has plans for world domination and all he needs are the Chaos Emeralds to fire the Eclipse Cannon from the space colony ARK. He brings on Rouge the Bat, world-renowned treasure hunter to help with the Emerald collecting.
For the Final Arc, both sides meet up at the ARK to discover some final transmissions from Eggman’s grandfather himself, and how he wanted to get back at G.U.N. for taking everything away from him, including his ill granddaughter Maria, who was a casualty on that fateful day. He also goes into why he designed Shadow the way he did. Eggman still goes along with the plan anyway to use the Eclipse Cannon. To stop him, Sonic and Shadow both go Super with the power of the Chaos Emeralds. They win the fight but Shadow falls to Earth, assumed to be dead.
Gameplay
Like the first game, it is a 3D platformer where you run around a specific environment in order to achieve the giant floating ring at the end of the level or the boss fight. In order to stay alive, you have keep up with your ring intake before letting it drop to zero. While not playing the main game, there are other features such as one-on-one mini games and the Chao Garden as well as missions you can complete.
Reception
Like the first game, Sonic Adventure 2 was well-received by fans and critics alike for the visuals, music, and gameplay. Like the last game however, the camera was still a problem (partially fixed in later ports like the Gamecube port, though the weird 3D camera in a lot of earlier games was a common issue) and the dialogue was a little awkward (it was down to a sound mixing problem). The Gamecube version received mixed reviews when it was released six months later.
Legacy
Sonic Adventure 2 is arguably one of the most iconic and well-remembered games for the franchise and although it was the last Sonic game for the Dreamcast before it went under, many played the game thanks to the GameCube port, which was more widely available at the time. Also like the first one in its own right, the stellar OST helped pave the way for Crush 40, which would help to create the franchises best known music. It also introduced us to Shadow the Hedgehog and Rouge the Bat, who would end up being regulars in the series.
Thoughts from the Head
If you were to ask me what were some of the games that defined my childhood, Sonic Adventure 2 would my first response off the bat. Alongside Unleased, it’s one of my favorite Sonic games to play and replay. I played the GameCube version first (as did many my age since more people had a GameCube than a Dreamcast at this point and this was the late 2000s/early 2010s at this point). Was is a masterpiece? Not quite, but it still holds a special place in my heart even with the awkward sound mixing and the story.
Despite everything, I would recommend the game to any Sonic fan who hasn’t tried it. The soundtrack is outstanding, the gameplay is great and you will become addicted to the Chao Garden faster than you can snap your fingers (seriously). Which version is best, you ask? For the most accessibility, i would go the one on Steam. It has the best graphics and controls, and it’s $10. Plus with this being a much older title, you can pretty much run this on anything. If you want the console experience, go with the Dreamcast version. The Gamecube version isn’t bad (go for that one if you don’t have a Dreamcast), especially with the extra content, but the graphics aren’t super great and the controls are kinda wonky.

If you had a time machine, would you go back in time or visit the future? I feel like visiting the future would just raise a lot of questions and worries, so I’d rather visit the past.

@dieviskais asked: hc asks round 2
Again under the cut.
death
WELL…
Shadow’s attitude towards death has shifted significantly. At the end of SA2, upon realizing his own shortcomings with Maria’s promise, Shadow wasn’t like….actively trying to die but when his Super form went kaput he was FINE with falling through the atmosphere, feeling like it was a fair price for all he hell he put everyone else through and for tarnishing her legacy.
Now though? Now he’s intent on staying alive to keep his promise and to do good. Shadow also knows he’s going to outlive all of his friends, and that thought...really hurts, but he tries not to dwell on it much. I talked about Shadow in the future a few times and eventually he gets okay with the concept of death. He has a lot of time to cope and process things and he DOES soften up overtime.
dreams
Shadow has somewhat lofty dreams for the future and, being the Ultimate, doesn’t think he should settle for anything less. His partnership with Noctus probably doesn’t help w/ that much as they start to try and put in long-term effort to fix G.U.N.. But he’s starting to see that he wants to be genuinely proud of where he works and to make it into something more than an obligation that hangs over his head. It’s high aspirations, but Shadow’s starting to believe that he might be able to work for it...
tikal
Shadow trusts Tikal immensely and, ignoring shippiness that I have with Bwaze atm, she is pretty much the only person that’s in Shadow’s life for long periods of time on account of the whole spirit-being-bound-to-the-M.E. thing. They are close friends and confidants and she helps him with understanding how to heal and work with the M.E. to better utilize his Chaos powers.
With shippiness, Shadow loves that Tikal always chooses the good in people. She’s not dumb or naive she just strives so hard to help people be the best they can be and she lives with the consequences. Shadow finds that admirable. He also knows that, if she wanted, she could be a force to be reckoned with. He likes that she doesn’t want that.
chao garden
Shadow spends a lot of his spare time in the Chao garden. I already talked a bit about the SECRET CHAO GARDEN he’s working on building up from nothingness so I won’t do that. But Shadow likes Chao a lot!!!!!!!!! I mean, who doesn’t. He enjoys going there with a book or a cup of coffee and just chilling with them. He frequents the one in Westopolis where Helios resides but usually pops in to the various gardens around the world whenever he can.
maria
Maria is clearly the character with the most influence over Shadow, to the point that he sometimes doesn’t even say her name because it can be so painful for him. He’s come to terms and accepted her death and he doesn’t really think about that much anymore. Now ‘Maria’ is more synonymous with his promise -- his promise that he feels like he can’t maintain...his promise that feels like an obligation...his promise that he’s completely let down over and over again. It’s kind of sad, but the promise has almost trumped the influence of Maria herself in Shadow’s life at this point.
His memories of the ARK, while there, are still fuzzy around the edges and while many of them are crystal clear, there are an equal amount of them that feel completely gone. So he clings to what he knows with certainty: that he made a promise to Maria and that he loved her and that she was killed.
desires
Shadow’s utmost desire is honestly to just be left alone and to make his own choices. He wants to do things his way and to sit and relax and just like...be a normal person. He really craves normalcy at this point, which is funny with how much he clings to his ego and constantly reminds everyone “I’M THE ULTIMATE” but….that’s the truth. Real Greed FMA hours. In the future, this desire eventually turns into “I want to keep people safe” and not “I have to keep people safe” and he’s much more Chill (™). I have feelings about future-Shadow.
team dark
Shadow trusts Rouge more than anyone else. Plain and simple. Omega is a close second but the robot also tends to focus on DESTROYING THINGS and not much else so it doesn’t make him a good person to really talk to. That said, Shadow knows Omega has his back and vice versa. He pretty much refuses to work with anyone else...and when he is forced into group missions that don’t have the other Dark members? He throws a real fit about it.

Conversation
Since Sonic Twitter Takeover #4 transcription by pacifistchara is no longer available I reupload it here:
Sonic: Hey, what’s up, everyone? Sonic here, excited to be with you all for our fourth ever Twitter Takeover! You can ask me any questions with—
[knocking sounds in background]
Sonic: Oh, sorry, one sec. Yeah? Hello? Oh, Tails!
Tails: Hey, Sonic! Heard you were doing that Twitter thing again! Can I join this time?
Sonic: Of course! You, uh…you didn’t invite Knuckles, though, right?
Tails: Nah, just me! But, uh, I think Eggman was actually waiting outsi—
Eggman: Surprise!
Tails: [sighs]
Eggman: You didn’t think you could host another of these without me around, did you, Sonic? Ooh, and I brought a friend!
Shadow: I’m still not your friend, Doctor. I just felt this Twitter Takeover could use a little help from the Ultimate Lifeform.
Sonic: Ah. Well, it’s a bit crowded in here now, but we’ll make this work! Tweet us your questions today on Twitter with the hashtag #AskSonic, and you might get a special response from us!
Shadow: Wait. Why is it “#AskSonic”? I think it should be “#AskShadow”.
Eggman: Or #AskEggman! I do have a PhD.
Tails: Or #AskTails! I know all sorts of stuff, I’m really smart—!
Sonic: Guys, guys, guys. Guys! It’s just #AskSonic, okay? You can all answer, don’t worry!
Tails: Fine…
Eggman: [sighs loudly]
Shadow: [indistinct grumbling]
Sonic: So send us your questions here on Twitter for the next six hours, and you might get a response from us! Until then…
All: See ya!
Shadow: Hmph. It really should be #AskShadow.
~ #1 ~
Eggman: Let’s see…here’s a question from Sonicguy001. He says, “Tails, what’s the greatest thing you’ve ever invented?”
Tails: Oh, the greatest thing I’ve ever invented? Oh, man, but there’s so many! Uh…maybe the Tornado? No, no, maybe Miles Electric?
Shadow: “Miles Electric”?
Sonic: Oh, that little translator pad you keep with you?
Tails: Yeah! Or – wait, I know, maybe…the Sea Fox!
Eggman: None of these are really that impressive, in my opinion.
Shadow: I’ve never even heard of the Sea Fox.
Tails: Oh, right. We hadn’t really met you yet.
Sonic: Yeah, Game Gear days, my dude.
Eggman: Tails is responsible for the death of so many batteries.
Tails: Thanks for your question, Sonicguy! Between us, I hope my best invention is yet to come!
~ #2 ~
Shadow: TassaneeKunchai asks… If I pronounced that name wrong, change it. Anyway, they ask, “Eggman, do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they?” Heh. This should be good.
Eggman: Ooh, I like this one! Let’s see, my hobbies include long walks on the beach, creating robot armies, and oh, of course – conquering the entire planet you live on.
Sonic: Seriously? Can you really call it a hobby if it’s something you fail at every time you try it?
Tails: Hahaha, are you talking about him conquering the planet or the long walks on the beach, Sonic?
Shadow: He means both. The doctor spends far too much time indoors.
Eggman: I do not! I get outside all the time. You guys, stop ganging up on me! Anyway, thanks for the question, Tassa… [stutters] When I take over this planet, unlike these three, you’ll be on my good list.
~ #3 ~
Eggman: Hope I’m pronouncing this right… LoveyDoveyii asks, “Hey guys, hope you’re all having a nice day. To Sonic, if you were to list everything you like about your little buddy Tails, what would it be?”
Tails: Aww, this one’s about me?
Sonic: Well, let’s see. Tails is awesome for a ton of reasons! But I’ll list the big ones. He’s always there for me when I need him, and—
Shadow: Sure. Just like that time you were sent in a capsule that exploded from the Space Colony ARK, right?
Eggman: Oh, right, I did do that.
Tails: Hey, no, I—!
Sonic: Plus he’s always optimistic, he’s a genius mechanic, and I know he always does the right thing. He once even saved all of Station Square from Eggman!
Tails: Haha, I mean, y'know…
Eggman: I wasn’t really trying, you know.
Sonic: So, anyway, those are just a few of the things about Tails that I think are great. You’re the best, man.
Tails: Aw, thanks, Sonic!
Shadow: I think I’m going to throw up.
~ #4 ~
Tails: Here’s one! Col0rsandmayhem asks, “What are some of your favorite snacks?”
Eggman: Oh, wonderful timing! We’ve just arrived at today’s Twitter Takeover Sponsorship! Here, Sonic, read this.
[paper rustling]
Sonic: Wait, do I really have to—
Eggman: Come on, just read it or I don’t get my free minifridge!
Sonic: UGH, fine. [in a bored monotone] “This Twitter Takeover is brought to you by Chaos Cola, the official cola of Chao Races and Chao Karate worldwide. Crack open a relatively chilled Chaos Cola today.”
Tails: Personally, I like their mint juice drinks better.
Shadow: You’re all such corporate sellouts. I say support indie drinks. There’s nothing cooler than supporting the little guy.
~ #5 ~
Eggman: Jirard the Completionist asks, “Hey guys, huge fan, all hail Shadow—”
Shadow: Ooh, yeah, I like this guy already.
Eggman: Shadow, let me finish, please. [clears throat] “What is your ideal chilidog? Does Eggman’s have egg on top?”
Sonic: Ah. Plain dog, hot chili, and cheese. Easy answer.
Tails: I mostly give my chilidogs to Sonic. But I think I get the same thing he does.
Shadow: First, bonus points for showing me the respect I deserve, Completionist. Second, I add peppers, and even more cheese than Sonic. Just to prove I’m better than him.
Eggman: Mine would have three eggs on top, all with little Eggman faces—
Sonic: Hey, Eggman, check this out. I was searching this dude and he’s got a band called “Big Bad Bosses” with you in it!
Eggman: Huh? That can’t be right. My musical career is kept remarkably secret!
Tails: Oh, wow, there’s a whole Eggman song and everything!
Shadow: If you’ll excuse us, Jirard, we’re about to watch this video and laugh profusely at Eggman. Thanks for the great question.
~ #6 ~
Sonic: Evil_Antho asks “Hi guys! Question for your glorious, egg-shaped mad genius…” You know what, I think we’re just gonna throw this one out.
[paper rustling]
Eggman: Hey, give me that! Let’s see. They want to know if I secretly keep a Chao Garden in my evil lair. “If so, would you please share your secrets to Chao care?”
Tails: Eggman, you have a Chao Garden in your evil lair?
Eggman: What? Heh, not at all, I wouldn’t do that! Even if the evil ones are surprisingly cute, and understand me at a psychological level far deeper than anyone else ever could.
Shadow: Doctor, last time I was at your lair, I could’ve sworn I saw little Chao toys all over the floor—
Eggman: Nononono, those were, those were…those were Tails’s.
Tails: WHAT? That is NOT TRUE!
Eggman: Anyway, uh, thanks for the question, Evil, but I most definitely do NOT have a bunch of secret evil Chao in my lair, haha. CUT THE MIKE! CUT THE MIKE!
~ #7 ~
Shadow: SlashClaws asks, “Eggman, have you ever used your tech for a non-evil purpose?”
Eggman: Good question! But of course, SlashClaws. I did help save the planet from a falling space colony once.
Tails: Yeah, but to be fair, you also kinda started all that.
Eggman: Okay, then how about…I once used it to stop the Deadly Six from also destroying the world.
Sonic: Yeah, but that was using your creation, Eggman. You started that one too.
Eggman: Okay, wow, you guys are just really being mean to me here. I’m not that evil—
Shadow: Don’t trust anything the doctor says, ever. That’s my motto.
Tails: I agree.
Eggman: I just can’t win with you people! Thanks for the question, SlashClaws.
~ #8 ~
Tails: Oh, I got a fun one here! maliasorce asks – sorry if I said that wrong, heh – “Sonic, what is the key to your positivity? What makes you so optimistic 24/7?”
Shadow: Yes, please tell us so I can finally put into words what bothers me about you so much.
Sonic: Hey, Malia! Great question. And, uh, ignore Shadow. [mockingly] He’s just grumpy because he hasn’t had a question in a bit.
Eggman: So what is it that keeps you so positive all the time, Sonic?
Sonic: Easy! Part of it’s my friends, like Tails and Knuckles, and part of it is knowing that no matter what, we can always overcome whatever life throws at us.
Shadow: Aw, how adorable. And remarkably cheesy.
Tails: He’s right, though! Everyone has bad days and rough times, but I think it always helps to know that even if they’re rough, things are going to get better someday.
Eggman: Thanks for the question, Malia.
~ #9 ~
Sonic: All right. Gushers asks, “Yes, hi, Sonic, sir!” Wow, so formal. “Why do people always send me this?” Oh, and there’s a…picture here…
Tails: It’s a picture of you, Sonic!
Eggman: Whoa, looks like an old one! What is this, Dreamcast days?
Shadow: It’s a little picture of you saying “I like Gusher”?
Eggman: Wait, I know what this is…
Shadow: Leave it to me, Eggman. I’ve been waiting for this moment. [clears throat] Silence, brand.
Sonic: Whoa, guys, chill out. I like their Twitter. Thanks, Gushers!
Tails: PS, if you wanna send us any free samples, my workshop’s address is 101 Mystic Ruins Lane, Suite—
Shadow: Tails, you’re doing it again. Stop being a corporate sellout. Listen, Gushers, if you send any samples out, you send ‘em straight to me.
~ #10 ~
Tails: Thomas Capella asks, “To everyone except Shadow, because he already answered, what’s your favorite anime?”
Eggman: Oh, mine’s a bit dark, you might not like it, it involves ghouls and the like…
Sonic: Ha, mine’s easy. Sonic X! Not that I’m biased or anything. How about you, Tails?
Tails: I like the one with the kid who becomes a hero. “One for All!”
Shadow: Mine’s still the one with the girl and the scissor blade. It’s the greatest anime of all time, and none of you will ever change my mind.
~ #11 ~
Shadow: _kimmyko_ asks “Hey, Eggman, where do I sign up to join the Eggman Empire? Is there a paid internship program or something? Asking for a friend.”
Sonic: Whoa, whoa, whoa, kimmyko, let me stop you right there. You really don’t want this internship, trust me.
Tails: Hey, I could use an intern! I mean, I couldn’t pay you in anything but gold rings, but—
Eggman: Would you two stop trying to poach my new hires? People wonder why HR can’t find quality candidates, and now I realize it’s you two! kimmyko, I don’t pay my interns because it’s the most evil thing I can do. But I’d be happy to have you join the Eggman Empire.
Shadow: Between us, I recommend going your own way. You don’t need Eggman or Sonic and Tails. Trust only yourself.
Eggman: Exactly. Trust yourself to ignore Shadow and follow me! Welcome aboard!
~ #12 ~
Tails: Hey, Eggman, what’s that one?
Eggman: Let’s see. SonicReikai asks, “For your Spanish fans, could you four please sing the Macarena?”
Tails: Wait, you guys sang last time?
Sonic: I mean, yeah, a little bit.
Shadow: You have no proof I sang anything.
Eggman: Well, they soon will. Let’s do it!
All: [a few lines’ worth of indistinct mumble-singing] Ay macarena!
Tails: [a few more lines’ worth of indistinct mumble-singing]
All: Ay macarena!
~ #13 ~
Tails: Heh, I like this one. Brandon Santiago asks, “To Shadow, if you’re the ultimate lifeform, how come you need your rocket shoes to run fast while Sonic doesn’t, hmmm?”
Eggman: Ooh, he’s going right in with that one, isn’t he?
Sonic: [mockingly] Yeah, Shadow, why do you need rocket shoes to run fast?
Shadow: What a presumptuous question from this “Brandon” person. I’m not just fast because of my rocket shoes, Brandon. I’m the Ultimate Lifeform. And you would be wise to respect my power!
Eggman: Whoa, he’s actually getting a little angry.
Tails: Do you think he’s upset because it’s maybe a little true?
Shadow: No, it’s NOT true! Tails, you couldn’t even come close to beating me if you tried. Especially if—
Sonic: Guys, why is Shadow glowing red?
Shadow: —especially if I—
Eggman: Oh, no, I’ve seen this before—
Shadow: Chaos—
Everyone else: [screaming]
Shadow: —Blast!
Everyone else: [screaming continues]
~ #14 ~
Tails: DarkNecroDizzy asks, “Hey, Sonic, what do you do with all the golden rings you’ve collected over the years, anyways?”
Shadow: Yes, what do you do with those, Sonic?
Eggman: Ha, he doesn’t have that many! I normally knock them all out of him.
Sonic: Really? Good question, NecroDizzy. I save a lot of them, but I do spend a good amount on Chao and power-ups, too.
Tails: And I use them to fund my creations!
Shadow: I donate all my gold rings to those in need. Check out Global Giving, St. Jude, and Extra Life for some great places to send your gold rings, too.
Eggman: Shadow’s a philanthropist? Who knew? Thanks, NecroDizzy!
~ #15 ~
Shadow: LuckyPaola asks, “Dear Sonic, Tails, Shadow, and Doctor Eggman, what do you eat for breakfast?”
Sonic: Oh, hey, they drew a little image here.
Tails: Oh my gosh, this is so cute!
Eggman: Oh, hey, that’s me on the right there! Am I…am I flipping eggs or pancakes?
Sonic: It’s gotta be eggs, because you’re Eggman, right?
Eggman: Well, sure, but I actually really love making waffles for breakfast!
Shadow: Am I drinking tea or coffee?
Tails: Do you drink a lot of coffee, Shadow?
Shadow: No, I just eat the beans straight. Didn’t you listen to the last Twitter Takeover?
Sonic: Tails, we’ve got little breakfast chilidogs, I think!
Tails: This is my new favorite art ever! Thanks, LuckyPaola!
~ #16 ~
Shadow: Recko the Dark asks, “Well, Eggman, would you sell TV products? What would be the first one that would occur to you?”
Eggman: TV products, hmm… Well, that’s easy. I’ve got so many wonderful products I’ve made over the years.
Tails: All of them remarkably dangerous and definitely not safe for TV.
Eggman: Oh, that’s not true, Tails! I built the Hedgehog Trapper 9000, which is only dangerous if you’re the one being trapped.
Tails: That one has sawblades!
Eggman: Purely decorative, don’t worry! And I’m working out this neat design for a new Metal Sonic – he’s got rockets on both his hands and feet!
Sonic: Wait, whoa, this still sounds really dangerous.
Eggman: Oh, no, no, not for the people on TV, don’t worry. Only dangerous for you, Sonic.
Shadow: Recko, I don’t think we can legally allow Eggman to keep talking, so I’m going to cut the mike here. Thanks for your question.
~ #17 ~
Sonic: Oh hey, the Sonic Stadium – nice fansite name, guys – asks, “Many of our readers want to know, what is the secret to growing such a fine moustache?”
Tails: Wait, is that for all of us or just Eggman?
Eggman: I’ve got this, don’t worry. Listen, the secret is quite simple. First you need good product. I use a firming gel called “Adam and Sven”. Then you use a comb, and also carefully trim it to become impeccably stunning and handsome.
Tails: I wonder what Eggman would look like if we shaved his mustache off.
Eggman: Oh no, trust me, you really don’t wanna see that.
Shadow: I agree, Tails. Maybe we should shave it off right now.
Eggman: Shadow – no no no, please, guys, listen, I—
Sonic: Just grab him, quick!
Eggman: No, no, nonono, wait— [screams]
~ #18 ~
Tails: smoov22_sonic asks, “What’s Shadow’s favorite place to go shopping?”
Sonic: Oh, it’s gotta be that store with all the edgy clothing and goth stuff. What is it, Lukewarm Topic?
Eggman: I bet it’s the Halloween shop down the street! I saw him wearing a cape once.
Shadow: What? Those are both fine establishments, by the way, but I do my shopping at the local convenience store. It’s called “Maria’s”.
Eggman: [quiet intake of breath]
Tails: Oh, wait, um, Maria was…
Sonic: Oh, wow, sorry. I – I didn’t mean to—
Shadow: No. No, it’s fine. As long as I can keep supporting some Maria out there in the world, I…at least feel like I’m making it a better place.
Eggman: This question turned out to be quite the emotional rollercoaster. Thanks, smoov22.
~ #19 ~
Shadow: JadeUltra asks, “Where do you guys see yourself in the future?”
Eggman: Oh ho, that’s easy! Sitting atop my mechanical throne, ruling the world!
Sonic: Also an easy answer. Stopping Eggman from whatever plan he thinks he can pull off, and spending some more time on Twitter when I can.
Tails: I’d like to create more inventions that could support everyone.
Shadow: I’d like to open up a cat orphanage someday, for all the stray cats of the world, so they have a place to stay.
Everyone else: Wait, really?
Shadow: What? I have a soft spot for adorable little kittens. Don’t judge me.
Eggman: So judged.
~ #20 ~
Tails: TheHaasManWyatt asks, “What is your all-time favorite memory?”
Sonic: Oh, I like this one! For me, probably that time we all saved the planet together. Well, the one with the Biolizard, anyway.
Tails: My favorite memory is meeting Sonic for the first time. And after that, uh… My adventure on Cocoa Island.
Eggman: My favorite memory was finally beating Sonic, e-even though it happens all the time. What about yours, Shadow?
Shadow: My favorite memory was being dead.
Sonic: Wow, okay, that got dark.

Eggman: GottaPostFast asks – oh, I get that, that’s a reference – “Hey Tails, you probably get this a lot, but what does the fox say?”
Tails: Oh, uh… [quietly] Hey, Sonic, are the lawyers gonna get angry if I sing the song and stuff?
Sonic: [quietly] Yeah, probably. You just have to come up with something else real fast.
Shadow: [quietly] What are you two whispering about?
Tails: N-nothing! The fox says, uh… um… I’ve gotta fly high!
Eggman: Wait, that’s just your theme song from Sonic Adventure—
Tails: So I can reach the highest of all the heavens!
Sonic: Nice save, bud.
Shadow: I’m very, very confused by all this. Thank you, GottaPostFast. Next question.
~ #22 ~
Tails: AshleyChan456 asks, “I’ve got a question to ask all of you. Seeing that summer is nearly upon us, I’ve gotta ask: What’s your ideal summer vacation?”
Sonic: For me, a nice, beautiful beach, a palm tree or two, an umbrella to block out the sun, a boombox to play some tunes…
Tails: A motorized surfboard so I can splash water all over Sonic on accident, then go out of control and try to rescue a big owl guy.
Sonic: I almost feel like we’ve done this before.
Shadow: My ideal summer vacation is a trip to somewhere dark and spooky. I might invite Rouge or Omega to join me.
Eggman: Mine would be in my evil lair, surrounded by my own creations, watching as my minions conquer and capture all the little animals of the forest and turn them into more robots.
Shadow: Wait, can I change my answer? Instead—
Tails: Nope, we’re outta time! Thanks, Ashley, and hope you have a great summer too!
~ #23 ~
Sonic: Menno asks, “Hello, Shadow! What would your ultimate day look like?”
Tails: [imitating Shadow] “Dear Diary, today I brooded. And brooded some more. And then raised some Chao.”
Eggman: Hey, that’s not bad, Tails.
Shadow: Quiet, fox. My ultimate day would consist of a nice two handfuls of coffee beans in the morning, followed by a playthrough of the world’s greatest video game—
Sonic: Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric?
Shadow: No, Shadow the Hedgehog.
Tails: Probably should’ve seen that one coming.
Shadow: Then I head outside to do mysterious things, like saving people in need at the last moment, or picking up cool dark clothing that I’ll never wear.
Eggman: And then after that?
Shadow: Finally, I head home and put on a good movie, like Chao in Space 3, which features me. It’s much better than Chao in Space 2.
Sonic: …yeah. Well, thanks for the question, Menno.
Shadow: Wait, I’m not done y—

Sonic: [clears throat and proceeds to stumble over the pronunciation of the asker’s name several times] aoii91 asks, “How many chilidogs could a hedgehog eat if a hedgehog could eat chilidogs?”
Shadow: Let me get this straight. “How many chilidogs could a hedgehog eat if a hedgehog could eat chilidogs?”
Tails: A hedgehog could eat all the chilidogs.
Eggman: Well, if a hedgehog could eat chilidogs. I think they’re vegetarians.
~ #25 ~
Eggman: Hyper Potions asks, “What’s your favorite Team Sonic Racing track?”
Tails: Oh, man, we have to pick one? But I love so many!
Shadow: Do they mean track, or musical? Aren’t these some of the people who worked on the game’s soundtrack?
Sonic: Hey, I know these guys! Hyper Potions also made the trailer music for Sonic Mania! Well, to answer your question, Whale Lagoon for me.
Eggman: Personally, my favorite track is Final Fortress.
Shadow: Mine is Boo’s House. I love watching Knuckles get scared of ghosts.
Tails: Okay, then mine would be…Sky Road.
Eggman: There you go, Hyper Potions. Oh, and special thanks to the other musicians who helped make the soundtrack so amazing, too!
Sonic: Yeah, like Jun Senoue and Crush 40!
Tails: And Tee Lopes!
Shadow: And Tyler Smith. He also made the theme of Infinite, which I enjoy very much.
Eggman: And TORIENA!
Sonic: Thanks for the question, Hyper Potions!
~ #26 ~
Shadow: TheChaosSpirit asks, “To all of you, what do you guys like to do to stay motivated when the going gets tough?”
Eggman: Personally, I build more robots. Keeps my mind off things. And believe me, the going gets tough for me a lot.
Tails: I like to think about new inventions, or go outside.
Sonic: And I like to stay motivated by running. Anywhere, any place. Oh, and by blowing up Eggman’s robots.
Shadow: I look back on my past dark, traumatic moments, and use those to shield myself from the impending challenges of the future. No matter what may come, I’ve surely faced far worse before.
Eggman: And there you go! Always so optimistic, Shadow.
~ #27 ~
Tails: Ann Michal asks, “Hi, Sonic! Have you ever considered dyeing your fur black and red to look cooler?”
Shadow: Who is this girl? And why does she have such good taste in hedgehogs?
Sonic: I’m sorry, what? Dye my fur black and red? Pshht, no thanks. That’s a Shadow thing right there. I’m good with blue.
Eggman: Wait a minute, you guys. I looked into this person’s history and it says here she even gave a presentation about Shadow.
Sonic: Wow. That’s a lot of retweets, too.
Tails: Ooh, someone’s got an admirer!
Shadow: “An Exploration of Shadow the Hedgehog’s True Moral Compass (& Knuckles)”. Impressive. Very impressive. Nice work, Michal. Thanks for being one of my biggest fans.
Sonic: Blue quills are better.
~ #28 ~
Eggman: LiatrisBlossom asks, “So, Shadow, where was that fourth Chaos Emerald?”
Tails: Yeah, Shadow, did you ever find that thing? It’s kind of a meme on the internet, you know.
Shadow: No, Tails, I never found that [bleep] fourth Chaos Emerald. I tried searching for the [bleep] Chaos Emerald many times, but I never found it.
Sonic: Wait, are you censoring yourself on purpose, Shadow?
Shadow: What? No. I just said exactly what I said in the game. You know, that [bleep] fourth Chaos Emerald.
Tails: Holy cow, he’s being censored in real time!
Eggman: That is some pretty impressive tech, SEGA.
Shadow: You may think you can stop me, SEGA Twitter team, but if I said it in the game, I’ll find a way to say it on Twitter. That [bleep] fourth Chaos Emerald – argh! [bleep] fourth Chaos Emerald! …Curse you, SEGA.
Sonic: Sorry, Shadow, but this was the only way the ESRB would let us continue. Thanks for understanding.
~ #29 ~
Sonic: Sam’s Procrastination Station asks, “Hey, @sonic_hedgehog, do you mind finally explaining to the general audience why you’re in a car in games like Team Sonic Racing? People still ask this question for some reason, so I think this is the perfect time to address it.”
Tails: Oh, that’s an easy one! He’s in a car in Team Sonic Racing because—
Sonic: Because if I was on foot, I’d win instantly. Exactly, Tails!
Tails: Aww, I wanted to answer that one, Sonic!
Shadow: Hold on a second. If you were on foot, you’d still lose just as badly to me, Sonic.
Tails: Hey, I can run too. Doesn’t anyone remember Sonic R on the Saturn?
Eggman: The car makes things even, Sam. But let’s be honest, even in Sonic R, I’m still the best racer by far. Thanks for the question!
~ #30 ~
Eggman: snowcanine asks, “If you guys could change one thing about yourselves, what would it be?”
Sonic: Good question! I’d like to be able to know exactly where the Chaos Emeralds were at any time. Would make stopping Eggman much easier.
Tails: I’d like to be able to keep flying without ever getting tired.
Eggman: I’d get rid of that silly sense of mercy that keeps stopping me from ever finally defeating Sonic. It’s just a weakness, really.
Shadow: I wouldn’t change a thing. Our mistakes make us who we are, and I’m comfortable with my identity.
Sonic: Yeah, I feel like Shadow’s answers are either the most depressing or the most inspiring, depending on the question. Thanks, snowcanine!
~ #31 ~
Tails: Barry Kramer asks, “You guys are in the business of moving quickly. What’s the best way to keep your shoes on? Laces, hook-and-loop fasteners, or, uh, other? Thanks.”
Sonic: Good question, Barry! Personally, I’m all about the buckle. Had it since the classic days.
Shadow: Other. I don’t really need a buckle. My shoes were specially designed and fit my feet perfectly, no matter how fast I’m going.
Tails: I actually don’t use one either! But I totally modified my shoes a bit so they’re a perfect fit too.
Eggman: I, um…I don’t do much running. A genius like me can conquer the world from the comfort of his own chair!
Sonic: Well, thanks for the question, Barry! And hope your next project comes out amazing.
~ #32 ~
Shadow: LTDork asks, “Sonic has become pretty notorious for his terrible taste in puns. Are there any specific jokes you guys like?”
Sonic: Whoa, whoa, whoa! Now, hang on, terrible taste in puns? That’s not entirely true—
Tails: But what about the games, Sonic? It’s definitely kinda true there.
Sonic: Yeah, but those are totally different writers! I’ve got a script to follow! Twitter Takeovers are way easier because I can just…be myself.
Eggman: I’d just like to add that I appreciate all of my writers, no matter the script. Please keep casting me as the villain!
Shadow: Suckup.
~ #33 ~
Shadow: Elsie Fisher asks, “Why do you guys always wear gloves? What are you hiding?”
Eggman: Uh, hands, mostly.
Tails: Hey, Sonic, have you ever tried taking off your gloves?
Sonic: What? No, why would I? They’re super comfy.
Tails: I dunno, like…for science and stuff?
Sonic: Huh. Well, all right, let’s see if I can— [grunting] Huh. Wow. That thing is – yeah, it’s really stuck on there.
Tails: Wait, Sonic. Rrrgh… My gloves won’t come off either!
Sonic: But Tails, what if I have, like, creepy blue hands under these!?
Tails: Uh…
Shadow: Would you both stop panicking? Elsie Fisher, thanks for your question, but we wear gloves because they’re comfortable and cool, and there’s absolutely nothing hidden underneath. …wait, wait. Can she – can she see that I’m winking right now, or is that not going through?
~ #34 ~
Tails: RubberNinja asks, “On a downward incline, would Eggman’s top speed while rolling surpass Sonic?”
Shadow: Wait a minute. That’s Ross. He’s one of the Grumpy Guys or whatever they call themselves. I was a grumpy guy before it was cool.
Sonic: The Game Grumps, Shadow. But this one’s easy, so I’ll answer it. There is absolutely no way I’d lose to Eggman at anything. Especially a speed competition.
Eggman: Hold on, hold on. Let’s think about this scientifically. From a momentum perspective, since I weigh more than you, I would almost certainly eventually—
Shadow: But your body is clearly not built for spin-dashing, Doctor. I don’t think you’d have nearly as smooth of a roll downward.
Eggman: Oh, no, no, we can just do the math here, let’s see. On a downward incline, assuming Sonic begins with a spin dash—
Tails: And also assuming Eggman has no bones to slow him down—
Eggman: Wait, what?
Tails: Eggman would eventually pass Sonic after roughly 7.8 miles.
Eggman: Hold on a minute, what was that about no bones?
Shadow: Well, there you have it, Ross of the Grumpy Grumps. That’s just science.
~ #35 ~
Tails: Chris Scullion asks, “Do ghosts and spirits of our deceased loved ones exist, or are they merely mental projections constructed in our own minds as a coping mechanism, as knowing they still have some presence (albeit a merely etherial one) gives some comfort?”
Shadow: Don’t worry, I got this one. Yes.
~ #36 ~
Sonic: SakataLouis asks, “Can you all say Happy Birthday to my little brother Diego? He’s seven years old today and he really likes you guys, especially Shadow.”
Tails: Aww, that’s adorable! Yeah, we can do that!
All: “Happy Birthday to my little brother Diego. He’s seven years old today and he really likes you guys, especially Shadow.”
Shadow: To Diego, one of my ultimate fans, happy seventh birthday.
Eggman: Thanks for being a good brother, SakataLouis.
~ #37 ~
Tails: Ooh, listen to this one, guys! From Lisamellow1, “An innocent question for Sonic, if he doesn’t mind. I’ve read in a book that it is confirmed by the Sonic Team that Sonic has feelings for Amy, but he’s too nervous to admit it! So, is that true? Also, have this very quick doodle of Amy I made.”
Eggman: Oh my. Is that true, Sonic?
Sonic: Whoa, what, what? A-Amy? Why are you guys asking me this all of the sudden?
Tails: Hey, the fans just wanna know! And you did say they could ask you anything…
Sonic: Yeah, but, well – listen, I don’t really feel comfortable talking about that on Twitter right—
Shadow: Are you afraid, Sonic? Are you running away from your feelings now, too?
Sonic: I just really don’t want to – I’ll be right back!
Tails: …Wow, he’s not normally like that. Well, one thing’s for sure now, the Sonamy fans are gonna go nuts.
~ #38 ~
Tails: theminemanner2 asks, “Doctor Eggman, how long did it take you to come up with the plan of luring Sonic and company into a false sense of security by joining the Twitter Takeover?”
Eggman: Good question, minemanner. Let’s see, how long has it been now…approximately six hours. Surprise, Sonic!
Tails: Oh, if you’re talking about the traps you placed, i already disarmed all of those.
Eggman: What?
Shadow: And the robots you were trying to hide above us were all destroyed when I used Chaos Blast earlier.
Eggman: H-how?
Sonic: And we totally had Knuckles trash your lair while you were doing this. Actually, this was just a plan to get you away from your base, Eggman.
Eggman: Are you kidding me? No! This is not okay! Rrrrrgh…
Sonic: Well, all’s well that ends well! Let’s keep the questions going.
~ #39 ~
Sonic: All right, here’s one! BluSlashed asks, “Who’s the best driver between all of you? You can only choose one.”
Shadow: Is that really a question? It’s well-known that I’m the best driver in this room.
Eggman: Oh no you aren’t, Shadow! You may be fast, but I could outsmart you any day.
Sonic: Ha, didn’t any of you guys watch “Team Sonic Racing: Overdrive”? Tails and I clearly won because we worked together.
Tails: Yeah, it’s all about the real superpower of teamwork!
Shadow: I was winning. You were all slow and had to rely on that Team Ultimate to save you.
Eggman: You know, it’s strange, but I really don’t have much recollection of what happened after that race.
Tails: Oh, uh, yeah, that’s, uh…probably for the best.
Sonic: Should we tell him?
Tails: No way!
~ #40 ~
Shadow: egoraptor asks, “Sonic, have you and Tails just straight-up forgotten how evil Robotnik is? I find it very disturbing to see y'all pal around with this joker.”
Sonic: Y'know, it’s a fair point that Eggman is pretty evil sometimes.
Tails: And he has tried to ruin our lives on multiple occasions.
Shadow: And risked the lives of the entire planet.
Sonic: But he’s more like…a lovable kind of bad guy, you know? There’s just something about him. Well, that and he just shows up uninvited all the time.
Eggman: Dear Arin Hanson, interesting question. I see you’ve chosen poorly when it comes to selecting your allies. I’ll be in touch. Very soon.
Everyone else: Dun-dun-dunnn!
~ #41 ~
Eggman: Caddicarus asks, “So hey, @Sonic_Hedgehog! Why do you collect rings when an anagram of your name is 'coins’?”
Sonic: They’re rings! Way bigger, way better, and you can throw them over your arm, too.
Shadow: Who would even collect coins, anyway?
Tails: All sorts of people, Shadow! I mean, there are people in the street, coin collectors, and that one plumber guy we ran into, y'know.
Sonic: In my humble opinion, Caddicarus, gold rings are way better than coins, and a much better investment, too.
~ #42 ~
Tails: Whew, I had no idea there’d be so many questions coming our way!
Eggman: Well, buckle up, fox boy, it’s normal. I’ve done this for years, trust me.
Shadow: Don’t worry. Eggman’s just upset because we’ve got more questions than he did.
Sonic: Guys, there’s even more questions still coming in, but I think time’s up.
Tails: Well, we’ve gotta stop somewhere. Thank you all so much for sharing your questions with us today, and for inviting me to join in!
Eggman: As always, a huge thank you to my adoring fans.
Shadow: And to the supporters of the world’s greatest hedgehog.
Sonic: Aw, you shouldn’t have, Shadow.
Shadow: No, no. I meant me.
Sonic: Oh. Well. That’s typical.
Eggman: So, what about all the people whose questions we didn’t get to answer? We have to come back for a fifth Takeover someday, right?
Sonic: Whoa! I mean, guys, we just finished the fourth!
Tails: Yeah! And let’s invite someone else next time, too! Like Rouge, or Big, or Amy – oh, maybe Cream—
Sonic: Nononono, uh, Tails, listen—
Shadow: From all of this in this cramped little room, please accept our appreciation for hanging out with us today.
Sonic: Yeah. Thanks, everyone!
Tails: Thank you!
Eggman: 'Til next time!
Shadow: Chaos Control!

Yaldabaoth and Sethian Creation
Yaldabaoth and Sethian Creation
Yaldabaoth and Sethian Creation. By Gnostic Jesus.
The Trinity
The Sethian (or Classic) Gnostic creation myth comes from the Apocryphon of John.
There is one invisible spirit. He is pure, holy and immaculate. This ineffable one emanated pure, immeasurable light. He is indestructible and eternal.
Jesus reveals Him in the New Testament as the First Aeon and God.
The Spirit drinks in water-light from the power of life. Through the power of thought, he brings forth the feminine emanation of Him. Barbelo (the forethought of all) is His feminine counterpart. Barbelo is the perfect aeon. The Spirit bestowed five powers upon her: image of the invisible spirit, foreknowledge, indestructibility, eternal life and truth.
Pure light radiates between the Spirit and Barbelo. A spark ignites from this light, resulting in yet another pale light. This is the “only begotten child”, named Autogenes, the aeon Christ, the Anointed One. This is how the Gnostic Trinity is born; there is the Father, Mother and Son. Each is a perfect aeon.
Autogenes is androgynous, like his Father and Mother. Despite their masculine and feminine names (Father, Mother), each Perfect aeon is a dyad of gender. Together with his Father, Autogenes produces four more aeons named Harmozel, Oroiael, Daveithai and Eleleth. The four aeons are helpers for Autogenes.
Each of the four aeon helpers creates three more aeons. Harmozel emanates Grace, Truth and Form. Oroiael emanates Conception, Perception and Memory. Daveithai emanates Understanding, Love and Idea. Eleleth emanates Perfection, Peace and Wisdom – also named Sophia.
All four light aeons and their three serve Autogenes. These are the original aeons, the angels. In addition, four other beings dwelled with the luminaries (the aeons/angels). Pigera (or Adamas, the perfect being or Cosmic Man) lived with Harmozel. Seth (the son of Adamas) lived with Oroiael. Posterity of Seth (the souls of holy people) lived with Daveithai. Finally, the Souls (those that have yet to attain gnosis) lived with Eleleth.
Sophia Myth
Many Gnostics regard Sophia as the most important aeon after Christ. It is important to remember that Sophia is responsible for the creation of the material world via her offspring, the Demiurge.
Barbelo is the forethought, and Sophia is the afterthought. Most likely, out of pride, Sophia wanted to emulate the Invisible Spirit (the Father) by producing an image of her. However, Sophia did not consult the Father before doing this. Sophia had the power to procreate, but lacked the necessary knowledge. Sophia became horrified at the sight of her creation.
He was an ugly, imperfect creature with a body of a serpent and the face of a lion. He had eyes of fire. Sophia called her child Yaldabaoth. Out of shame and disgust, Sophia cast Yaldabaoth out of her pleroma and hid him in a thick cloud. By hiding him behind a cloud, the other aeons would not be able to see him. The Sethian Gnostics believe that Yaldabaoth was the consequence of Sophia’s desire.
Yaldabaoth then stole his mother’s power so that she was not able to escape from the cloud that she had originally trapped him in. Despite the fact that he had gained his mother’s power, Yaldabaoth was still weak, but he had strong ambitions. Inherited from his mother, Yaldabaoth also lacked knowledge.
Because of this inherent deficit, Yaldabaoth then fathered twelve archons to aide him in his conquests. Seven of the archons were to rule the seven heavens, and five would rule in the abyss, which Yaldabaoth created with the archons. Together, Yaldabaoth and his archons created 365 angels to help with their expanding empire.
From here, Yaldabaoth created a realm called matter. From this matter, he created seven androgynous offspring to rule the seven realms. Some Sethian Gnostics believe that this is how the seven planets came into being.
Yaldabaoth became weak and ignorant, as he believed that he was the first and true God. Sophia began to refer to her son as Samael and Saklas, both names for the devil. Yaldabaoth was still proud, and he truly believed that none was more powerful than he was.
Yaldabaoth challenged Sophia, but he could only hear her because of the darkness that he created. Sophia stretched out her finger and brought infinite light into Yaldaboaoth’s creation of darkness and chaos. Yaldabaoth longed to see his mother’s face. He could hear her voice, but he wanted more.
Yaldabaoth followed his mother’s voice, and found her reflection in water. Yaldabaoth then attempted to take hold of the image, but he could not. This is yet another example of his ignorance – the image was coming from above him, and he could not understand this. He begins to claim that he is a jealous God, and that he is the only God.
Sophia finally realizes the great magnitude of her mistake and begins to repent. Sophia begins to pray to the Father, and asks him to restore the power that Yaldabaoth stole from her. The Father accepted her prayer for deliverance. Yaldabaoth now heard the voice of the invisible spirit. The Father rebuked Yaldabaoth and his archons. When Yaldabaoth looked back into the water, he saw not the face of his mother, but instead saw an image of God – in human form.
Adam and Eve
The physical world has now come into existence. Yaldabaoth is also aware that he is not the only God, and he is not a truly powerful one.
Yaldabaoth now wants to create an image of God from the image that he had seen in the water. To help his quest, Yaldabaoth summoned all the angels and archons; together they created a being in the likeness of the first man. The purpose of this was to steal the Spirit of the Father.
To their dismay, their creation was lifeless and without a soul. Little did Yaldabaoth know, his mother (Sophia) was meeting with the Father and Barbelo in a desperate attempt to regain her power. To help Sophia, the Father and Barbelo tell Yaldabaoth to blow air (life) into his creation, and that will awaken it. Ignorant, Yaldabaoth did as he was told. This is how Adam’s soul was created.
When Yaldabaoth saw that Adam was good, pure and free from evil, he cast Adam out of the pleroma and sent him to live on the lowest plane of existence: Earth. To help Adam, Barbelo decided to send a helper along with him; a spirit named Epinoia. Adam’s body hid Epinoia. While in hiding, she gives Adam secret knowledge of his existence, and taught him how to ascend back to the pleroma.
Angry, the archons wanted to confine Adam. Out of punishment, Yaldabaoth created a physical body out of flesh to confine his soul. His body was mortal, and Yaldabaoth again cast him away, this time, sending Adam into the Garden of Eden. Yaldabaoth also bound Adam by sleep and forgetfulness.
While Adam was sleeping, Yaldabaoth attempted to bring Epinoia out of his body through his rib, but she managed to escape. Yaldabaoth then quickly created another mortal body from Epinoia’s image, and captured Epinoia inside. Yaldabaoth then placed Epinoia next to Adam in the Garden.
Epinoia commanded Adam to awaken. Because of the spell of ignorance from Yaldabaoth, Adam thought that Epinoia was the one who gave him life, and he called her Eve. Yaldabaoth wanted Adam and Eve to remain ignorant. If the two first humans were forever ignorant, then they would forever worship him. Yaldabaoth told the two to do as they pleased, but to say away from the Tree of Knowledge.
Some Gnostics believe that it was Jesus himself that told them to eat from the tree; the Sethian Gnostics hold the serpent of Genesis as the deliverer of knowledge.
Once they ate from the Tree, Adam and Eve awakened from their ignorance. Now they realized that Yaldabaoth was a false God. The fruit from the tree had given them the gnosis to understand that their creator was not God. Yaldabaoth then placed a curse on the serpent, Adam and Eve.
Yaldabaoth was angry, and threw Adam out of the Garden. Yaldabaoth snatched Eve when he observed her faithfulness to Adam. Epinoia escaped from the mortal body as Yaldabaoth raped the physical body of Eve out of anger.
In the Apocryphon of John, this produced Cain and Abel. However, the Hypostasis of the Archons teaches that Cain was the only child conceived from this event.
Adam and Eve later had a child together that they named Seth, and it is his descendents that possess the gnosis that their ancestors did.
Norea
The Sethian Gnostics regard Seth as the son of Adam and Eve, a very wise and faithful follower of gnosis. However, Seth also had a sister that was even wiser than he was. Sethian Gnostics believe that Norea is Sophia after her fall from grace. She is sometimes the Syzygy of Adam and the wife of Noah.
The archons wanted to destroy humankind with the deluge. The demiurge had warned Noah of these plans, and told him to build an ark to escape. Norea arrives and attempts to board the ark, but Noah will not allow her. Norea blows onto the vessel, engulfing it in flames and destroying it. This happened three separate times. Norea claims that her powers come from stolen sparks recovered from sexual emissions.
Seeing her power, the archons decide to capture her, but she defies them they tell her that her mother (Eve) had belonged to them at one point. Because she was so wise, Norea knew that Yaldabaoth was not her true God, but that he was a creature of darkness. Out of anger, he attempts to rape her, but Norea knew to call out to the True God for help. The aeon Eleleth arrives. Eleleth frightens the archons away.
Eleleth reveals to Norea that he came not only to save her, but also to teach her of her true origins. It is now that Norea learns that she is a descendent of God. Eleleth also teaches Norea about the origins of Yaldabaoth. Norea now knows that she is more powerful than Yaldabaoth.
Once again, Yaldabaoth grows angry and boastful, claiming that he is the most powerful being and the only God. Sabaoth (one of Yaldabaoth’s offspring) witnesses the power of Eleleth against Yaldabaoth. Sabaoth repents and pledges allegiance to Eleleth and the True God. Sophia and Eleleth reward Sabaoth and make him ruler of the eighth heaven.
Yaldabaoth witnesses the good treatment given to Sabaoth and begins to envy him. Yaldabaoth is the first to create envy. From envy, he created death. It is he that brought death to humankind.

Hey, can you give us an update on the game? Who's still alive, what's going on now, is everyone ok? Or, you know. Still in one piece.
oh wow so many people are not in one piece
uhhhhh
shit, where to even start
Well, we’ve had 2 player character deaths. Tadek and Nadine both died during an object lesson Krystiyan gave to Isaiah to teach him detachment (well, Tadek died, Nadine went into torpor, but at Humanity 4 torpor lasts for a decade and the end of the world is right around the corner, so she’s out of the game). Krystiyan ‘hired’ Henry Milliner, a talented Giovanni necromancer, to do the deed. Henry was infected with the blood of the Tzimisce Antediluvian, and needed someone to teach him vicissitude in order to contain the symptoms. In exchange for Henry sending a horde of undead against the party while they were underground trying to kill Nadine’s sire, Krystiyan promised to give him the discipline. Henry Milliner is an effective young man and as good as his word. He’ll be getting his own mood board soon.
The party raided the lair of the Inconnu monitor of New York City to steal her library, because they needed Noddist secrets. The only one who could read the books was Cora’s sire, so Bedegraine, the monitor, destroyed his memory. Cora diablerized him to take an intuitive sense of what he knew into herself, and used Eyes of Chaos to find what she needed. She later shredded the books - or at least, every page that mentioned Malkav - in order to use Eyes of Chaos on the scraps to make brief, terrifying contact with her Antediluvian. It worked! It also meant she’s destroyed the only source of information she is ever likely to have about her terrible progenitor. And Malkav Knows About Her now.
Selene, Casimir’s descendant, has made a series of pacts with the demon Cleveland and is now a full-blown infernalist. She has all kinds of fun powers, without which the party would not have escaped their disastrous expedition into Morninglight. Just, like, a lot of people died during and after that trip. Selene and Morninglight’s director of security, John Copley, seem to be having a bit of a ~thing~ now, though.
Selene is being stalked by one of the most powerful demons in the world.
The speed of light is getting faster and nobody knows why.
the Society of Leopold officially joined Casimir’s secret council
Cora officially joined the Society of Leopold
Isaiah sacrificed Yves, his ghoul, to the furtherance of his dark science, and successfully set foot on the Path of Metamorphosis.
(having a member of the Society of Leopold and a Metamorphosist in the same party will definitely end cool and great for everybody, we all agree)
The party learned that the Tzimisce Antediluvian, Morninglight, and Margueritte Delacours, the “Tremere” very-much-in-ironic-quotations ritualist and demonologist (who will also get a moodboard soon) were all brought to New York by the same person: Remy Madurai. Unfortunately, Remy was killed by some charming fuck named Soren, for reasons unknown. So the party went and found Soren, who turned out to be a former member of the Inconnu. He told them that Gehenna started 12 years ago, several Antediluvians died, the Last Daughter of Eve was killed, children stopped being conceived, monsters rose out of the water, the Masquerade was shattered, people were dying by the thousands, and then all of it stopped and everyone forgot. You believe you see children but there are no children.
As soon as he stopped talking, the party forgot, too, but with perseverence they’ve managed to remember some of it. Not anything about the Antediluvians, or the children, unfortunately, but they know that there is Something they Keep Forgetting that makes everyone believe that the world is at peace when it is actually ending slowly all around them. Remy doesn’t exist. He’s a repeating pattern: a leitmotif. So is the Last Daughter of Eve, and the Night Garden. For some reason, this shared delusion requires those leitmotifs to operate, and so they reoccur again and again. Soren has killed Remy three times, not that it ever seems to do any good.
So that’s cool
The Sabbat also had a total crisis of leadership now that Trudy is dead and Eva Brodeur is dead and Polonia appears to have gone mad. They’re a reckless mob, now, and one that’s likely to attack the Camarilla at any time, and potentially disrupt Casimir’s plan to turn New York City into an ark that could sail through Gehenna. So Casimir informed the council that we would be dealing with that, by which he meant exterminating the Sabbat in one fell swoop. which he could pull off, because he secretly replaced Polonia over a year ago and led all of them into a trap. Isaiah realizes that means he has vinculum 9 with the prince of the city. cue the Curb Your Enthusiasm music.
but Cora has a seat on the council now because, with Malkav’s terrifying and inscrutable momentary assistance, she was able to prove that she could “speak for the Malkavians”
and Isaiah has an entire battalion of around 100 Zantosa ghouls who serve him fervently
and Selene can steal stats above her generational maximum by reaping them from the souls of her elders
so things are going good I guess? things are going a lot faster now that they’re powerful enough to start taking in the bigger picture.

my take on forces
this is gonna be a long and complicated read but bare with me.
I tried to make this as accessible as possible, using images for visualization and very generous spacing between topic paragraphs.
The question I ask is...
Tumblr media
Who is this mysterious villain that people call “Infinity” or “Infinite”? What are their powers? What are those cubes? What may have caused Forces to have happened? What will happen in Forces?
I’m going to present multiple theories that I have come up with in the last few hours since the trailer was aired.
Check TLDR at the end of the post if you are unable to keep up with my thought jumping or the way I type. This theory is about 10 or 11 pages long on word.
Going off physical resemblance this villain looks a lot like proto-blaze (as shown with this redraw of the original prototype art)
Tumblr media
(the picture shows the villain in comparison to proto-blaze and current blaze)
They have the exact same eyecolor when color-picked, they have resembling hairstyles, they both have a gem located on their chest. The markins on the tail resemble blaze to an extend, but the tail of the villain is broader. Moreover is Blaze not confirmed for forces yet, maybe that would be the big plot twist?
Why would Blaze suddenly be a main villain? Does this even have to be the real Blaze? I mean. The weird hair/quill thing on the head is white, and the mask has bat ears. White fur, bat ears? That is rouge. But it can’t be rouge because of the missing wings and the fluffy tail.
wait. Big ears. Fluffy Tail.
Tumblr media
(picture of a fennec fox)
It might be a new character, perhaps a fennec? Huge ears. Typical canine tail. The face shape fits almost too well.....
oh shit guys I’m. I’m onto something here.
Set was a god associated with chaos, storms and the desert. Originally, he served as a powerful protector deity of Upper Egypt. [...] When Egypt was unified and the worship of Horus became dominant, Set was increasingly villainized, particularly after Egypt was invaded by a people who identified him with their own chief god. The most famous story about him is his killing of his brother Osiris for the throne of Egypt and his contests with Horus over it.
Animal Motifs: [...] Possibly a Fennec fox, otherwise it's just called the 'Set animal'
Adaptational Villainy: Originally a protective deity, he was demonized into a God of Evil [...].
(source: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/EgyptianMythology )
But wait.... Gods? Chaos??? The sonic world is made up of Chaos Energy! And who else is a God? Solaris and Mephiles!
Hold on guys.... Please hear me out on this one, because I might’ve figured this out to an extend.
When i first saw them I immediately got a Mephiles and Solaris vibe. Why? Because of that red eye and the what seems to be green iris. Another hint to Mephiles and Solaris in general is the shape of the quills/hair or this character which looks a lot like a popular perception of the sun vriewed frontal.
Tumblr media
and (thanks to @sh4dzi for the hint) who do we know is the sun? Solaris the sun god. Mephiles is one half of solaris. And he said it himself!
Tumblr media
He is the sun. He is a being that stands above time. A bridge to other worlds? Mephiles is probably very similar to dark matter. We can’t grasp it, its beyond our capabilities to comprehend because it probably exists within another dimension. As time itself is “the forth dimension” we live in. We can notice the effects that dark matter has on our universe by space time disortions like curved spaces. And as we know, Mephiles is capagle of time travel! Just like that. No chaos needed.
Those cubes that the villain is holding up remind me a lot of the shadow of a four dimensional cube: The Tesseract, also called Hypercube.
Tumblr media
(image of the shadow of a tesseract)
Tumblr media
(image of the cubes the villain is controlling)
You can clearly see that there is a cube within those cubes, but it is reflected on each side. The confusing part is, that even though we see 3D reflections on each side, we dont see the rest of that 3D object beyond the face of the cube they are reflected on. This is a way to symbolize the fact that there is another dimension within this three dimensional object.
But wait! Didn’t I say it was called a tesseract? Have you heard that somewhere before? I bet you did!
Tumblr media
(image of the MCU tesseract)
In the MCU there is an artifact called the Tesseract! What is the tesseract? Simple! It holds the infinity stone of space!
This cube is pure energy, which a mortal cannot hold without crumbling to ashes by the sheer amount of force this relic possesses. This cube controls space itself. It can be used to warp to another place. It can also be used to defend oneself off of enemies energetic attacks. Moreover can it be used to achieve visions from the past, present and future.
How is this possible? Time itself is not a physical dimension, but a dimension of itself. It flows in only one direction and it is ever present. The past present and future exist all at the same time! Does this sound familiar? I hope it does!
Tumblr media
(part of the script of the final story in 06, summary below)
Silver wants to destroy Solaris, a creature existing in the past, present and future, a creature standing above time itself. A creature that sees more dimensions than we can comprehend, a creature that sees the multiverse unfolding before themselves. (Hence it wanting to destroy “all existing timelines” ! )
Yes, the multiverse! There is one theory that says that every possible timeline in the universe is possible. every second another alternate universe, and alternate timeline is split from the one you are currently in. Each and everyone of us exists infinite times, in infinite different scenarios, no matter how small the differences!
Tumblr media
(the infinity symbol as shown in the trailer)
Infinity. the symbol shown in the trailer. isnt that the name people give our mysterious new villain?
Our villain has access to the multiverse. Their powers reselble the tesseract, they surpass the power of chaos control. This villain has Solaris’ power. to warp and bend space time at their whim. To access the infinite different universes.
This is how they were able to summon all the death egg robots into the city, despite eggman only ever having made one of them!
The time eater only had the power to travel through time, much like Mephiles. I theorize Mephiles to be the god of time itself, and the time eater may perhaps be a part of him. An alternate form? His shadow? We just don’t know. All I know is that Iblis must be the god of space, for iblis and mephiles to fuse and create solaris: The God of Space-Time.
HOLD YOUR HORESE I JUST REMEMBERED SOMETHING
Tumblr media
(jet holding the cubic key of babylon garden)
Look at what Jet is holding. The symbolic of the tesseract has been in the games before! The babylonians were an ancient civilization with immense advanced technologies. perhaps they had the key to unleashing the manipulation of space-time? As we can see in riders the babilonians managed to create an infinate space in a castle.
In zero gravity, we see that the Babylonians had the power to defy gravity. We get to know that they had built an engine (the ARKs of Cosmos) that was rendering their Babylonian Garden afloat. (We would know more if Jet had not told wave to shut up)
The ARKs or Cosmos have enormous powers, which the ancestors of our rouges possessed. These powers are: Direct convertion of Mass-energy into other forms of energy and the control over gravity itself.
Together they induce a black hole. Black holes are immense amounts of mass converted into minimal space, making a force so strong that it destroys time itself...... It Destroys space time by compressing everything into a single point in space, into a single point in time. Basically stopping time.
So to think....
Space-Time is the very fabric of our observable universe. If you control space time, you control every possible time line, every possible outcome, every possible universe. Everything.
Tumblr media
( “I will be able to control everything and rule the world.”-Eggman)
and
Tumblr media
( ”Capture mephiles, you must bring him to me” - Eggman )
This is why Eggman wanted both, iblis and mephiles, in order to complete his machine in 06. To be able to fully control space-time.
He can’t use chaos control himself, and chaos control would never be able to aid him in the massive way he wants things to go down. No. He needs the power of a god.
It is very clear that Eggman has a liking for mythlogy and ancient creatures, possessive of immense powers. (just like his grandfather.. huh)
Eggman is trying to find a way to control space and time. He’s been doing so ever since the beginning of the franchise.
Ever since Sonic 2 he was eager to get the chaos emeralds. In sonic 3 he first learned about Chaos itself and just how much energy it possessed. In sonic CD he already wanted to conquer time and space, hoping that the time stones would aid him.
in every big title that follows, eggman is always out to gain access to mythical power in order to fulfil his wish. Perfect chaos, chaos energy, solaris, dark gaia, wisps, the zeti (or in the end just life force itself). The ARKs of the cosmos from te babylon rouges......
But he always needs someone or something else to control that power for him, because he is unable to himself, being a mere human being.
Hold on. He needs someone else to control the power. He can create the means to control, but he lacks the certain something. Thats what the villain is for....
Did Eggman straight up create them? Did he follow into Geralds footsteps and created his own ultimate life form? Or did he manipulate another being?
I just got a message reminding of those “clues” the sonic social media posted and was reminded of the myth of icarus (thanks @auranon )
Tumblr media
(image of crypic message )
The secret lies in the Empire; the Eggman Empire. Which is now the world. Its real. Eggman is the emperor of the world.
We can get it back; the world. The world will be freed from eggman.
The son of Daedalus is Icarus. The Man that used Wings made of wax and featers to escape prison. He was so blinded by his euphoria that he tried to reach the sun. His wings burned away and he fell to his death.
What id this is what happened to our villain? What if this is the point this game is leading to. They are blinded by the power eggman (the father in this analogy) gave them (or improved), trying to either unleash solaris’ full potential, or reach solaris’ level of power.
Even if Solaris was not involved, the Sun symbolic (their head being shaped like the sun) makes sense, because of the analogy to Icarus.
I dont remember the numbers the sonic social media is referring to but if you can find that please add on to this post!!!
You might think: hold on! What does this all have to do with sonic forces?? How does this all make sense? How does this all add up?
Alright my unknowing children i’m gonna present you a summary and a conclusion here.
TLDR; only related to what this all has to do with forces.
I’m strongly going off symbolism here. The villain resebles a fennec fox a whole lot and that mgiht be the key to understanding them and the story, also leading us to the clues as to who that might be, or who they might’ve been inspired by.
Them being a fennec fox might be very well symbolic for their evil being, as Set was later seen as god of Chaos and Evil. Maybe this is foreshadowing what will happen.
Eggman is onthe throne, he rules the world, and that villain is his pawn. He was somehow able to convince this creature to work for him, perhaps by granting, or improving, the incredible power to control the multiverse, and aid him with his goals.
Assuming they derive their power from solaris, or any other ancient relic that would be able to grant this immense power of maybe advanced/enhanced chaos control, they can warp space-time and access the multiverse to retrieve multiple items, such as death egg robots and villains that are not meant to exist anymore, not in the way they are presented in the trailer.
But if we go by the symbolism of Set and Icarus, then the villain will throw Eggman from his throne and claim it for themselves, blinded by power, essentially having used Eggman for their means by obeying him just long enough to reach their goal.
But following the myth of Icarus, something will go wrong. Something is going to go terribly wrong. How? Maybe it’ll end in a black hole, like it did in zero gravity; maybe there will be a space-time rift like in 06. We don’t know yet.
What we know is that we can look forward to this story, if my theory turns out to be even just somewhat true.
Wow that was a lot. Thank you so much for reading! I’ll gladly appreciate to have everyone engage in a discussion by now. I’ll be very happy to answer any questions you might have concerning my totally all over the place theory.

The Frontier
The heartland of humanity, the Frontier is an eclectic mix of races, worlds, and cultures.
Caught between the Maial Might and the Illuminated Empire of the One-Thousand-And-One is the Fontier, a lawless, uncivilized stretch of space where anything goes. In places, small groups have organized into utopian settlements and colonies. In others, miniature empires spring up, only to be crushed by the next would-be dictator. Criminal syndicates rule entire worlds while cabals of sorcerers work on secret projects in the hearts of asteroids. Gleaming city-states and young nations rise up from amidst the chaos. Pirates roam the vast reaches between the safety of civilized worlds, preying on anyone they see as weak.
It was here that Progress set the Ark Primaris down, and now, the Frontier is humanity's home.
Because of the nature of space, it's difficult to say which direction the Frontier lies in, though most agree that despite the common saying, it does not actually lie between the two galactic superpowers. Rather, it is situated in what is referred to as the Galactic Southwest, where it borders both groups, though these borders are much shorter and more poorly defined than most would imagine. In its entirely, the Frontier is larger than both galactic powers put together, and while population is difficult to officially determine, it is believed to have a population that comes close to matching the combined total of both the Might and the Empire.
Humans make up the majority of the population, with the Forged as a close second. Over a billion Forged served on the First Worldfleet, braving the Void alongside their human friends. While a handful of ships were lost to the Nova, in the present day, the Worldfleet's Forged crew is considered entirely accounted for (either known to Progress or considered lost to the Void). Orog make up the third largest group in the Frontier, represented both by groups fleeing the Might and hidden warbands who have never been held in chains. Rarely, a character traveling the Frontier might encounter rogue Maial, banished Illuminated, human or Forged Exiles, or wandering Goran.
Both the Maial and the Illuminated want the Frontier and its near limitless resources, though neither can commit to a warfront there, and this stalemate is what has kept the Frontier free for four hundred years. Occasional incursions from both superpowers /do/ occur for various reasons. An upstart Empire growing strong enough that either side sees it as a threat, the discovery of a valuable resource that the Maial or Illuminated want to claim, even a group of hunters or enforcers pursuing a particularly deadly criminal. Such incursions are usually short, swift, and direct. If the invaders fail to achieve their objective quickly and cleanly, they withdraw. The Frontier is diverse, but divided, and a direct threat or war or occupation from either imperial power might unite and galvanise their population, something that neither group wants.
Places To Go, Things To Do
Edenia and the Ark Primaris - Humanity's cradle and salvation both, the Ark Primaris is the flagship of the First Worldfleet and the body of Progress, a Forged Alpha of immense power and intelligence. It was at the head of the fleet that carried one third of all humans from Earth, though it was blown off course by the Nova, and set down in the Aradax Reach on a world its passengers named Edenia. Edenia is a testament to human ingenuity and the will to survive. Originally a slapdash settlement built from salvaged ships, it has grown into a thriving community and the central hub of power and trade in the Frontier. The Edenian capital is called Athena, after the chief navigator of the Worldfleet. Athena consists of two parts, nicknamed Land (the city itself) and Sky (the Ark Primaris, which floats above it, secured and kept immobile by cables and trams).
The Tangle - The Tangle is a ship junkyard that is itself formed from ships. No one really rules the Tangle, but groups of mercenaries and criminals occasionally stake claims to parts of it and use it as a base. While it's lawless and dangerous, legitimate traders and merchants sometimes come here seeking parts for ships, as just about anything can be found amidst the platforms of junk. The Tangle orbits the wasteland of Piaxil, an uninhabitable planet. It is often used a source of justice by whoever the dominant power in the Tangle is, with criminals hurled down to the surface in pods as punishment for their crimes.
The Floating Garden - Once part of the First Worldfleet, the Garden was a sub-section of the Ark Primaris, its intelligence powered by a partly-organic Forged named Aster. It was responsible for carrying Earth's plant and animal lifeforms in the hopes that they could be recreated in humanity's new home land. It also served as the Ark's life-support system and lungs, the plants within it providing oxygen and food for the human crew. Sheared away during the Nova, the failing Garden crash-landed on a barren world that humanity identifies as Planetary Body 3.A.35. Several forms of plants and animals seemed ideally suited to survival here have broken free and overwhelmed the planet, and the entire globe is a now a treacherous, living rainforest inhabited by dangerous mutant animals. Aster herself still inhabits the ruined Garden, and has been standing guard over the remaining genetic blueprints for four hundred years. While the Garden is extremely dangerous, all of Earth's lost life exists somewhere within it, and recently a group of adventurers received great acclaim for retrieving the genetic codes for rice.
