#124 again here! Apologies if this ask goes a bit more all over the place and doesn't entirely hone in on Izzy, but there's something else I've been wanting to pry out of my brain and dissect in this lovely little space here.

So, to me, I've never thought of Izzy and Ed having any sort of romantic or sexual dynamic. Maybe love of sorts, but more so in a co-dependent, staying loyal to each other because of a long history/circumstances, etc etc way. An unhealthier way. I've also really never viewed them as familial to any degree, but Ed crossing paths and tangling with many an older, caustic man because of his trauma does make a bit more narrative sense.

I can also see their dynamic being devoid of romantic/sexual love but having a "we're tied to each other" angle to mirror Stede and Mary. There's nothing between Stede and Mary, but they were bound by standards, and to keep their family afloat. Similarly, there's nothing between Izzy and Ed, but they were bound by standards (captain and first mate), and to keep their family (crew) afloat. Also, Stede and Mary were wanting different things and were tugging in different directions, and Izzy and Ed were wanting different things and tugging in different directions. And, Izzy and Mary were attempting to just stay course and pilot a sinking ship, attempting to make the impossible work for them, whereas Ed and Stede were ready to jump as soon as they possibly could.

And obviously there are different personalities present, and different complexities to those dynamics, but I digress; it just sort of hammers in my point that I see nothing but duty and history between Ed and Izzy.

So then. I say all of that to say: what the hell is the deal with Ed going "he's jealous" after the uncomfortable scene with Izzy interrupting the afterglow? And this isn't against Ed; more so against the strange choices that were already present in that scene. Because, I already spoke on how squicky that scene is for me, and how Izzy's characterization and motives are so bizarre in episodes 6-7, and the edition of that line certainly doesn't help!

Because jealous of what? Of who?

Jealous of the mere concept of two men having sex? He walked into the tail-end of Lucius and Pete having sex, and didn't seem to be jealous at all. In fact, he seemed quite willing to dish out the mockery/contempt, which, yes, arguably could stem from jealousy, but I don't think that was the case. It seemed to be more from a place of toxic masculinity than anything else. Not to mention that I'm sure he's witnessed his fair share of men having sex throughout all his years in piracy, so I don't think it's a new concept.

Jealous of Ed getting fucked? Again, nothing in the narrative really tells me that he desires that type of thing.

Jealous of Stede fucking Ed? Yes, I would say he's possessive of Ed, but again, I've never viewed that possessiveness to come from romantic and/or sexual desire. I've always viewed it as "I don't want anything or anyone to come between Ed and I, because that means the face of Blackbeard could get stolen away from me, and then I won't have anything to hide behind. Without Ed, without a Captain behind my name, I have zero power and zero ground to stand on. I can no longer ride the threat."

I'll even throw in another one—jealous of Ed fucking Stede? Again, nothing in the narrative points me to that, be it from a "Izzy's sexual preferences" angle, or a "having any sort of romantic/sexual interest in Stede" angle.

The only thing I can sort of link it to is maybe Izzy being jealous of them sharing that connection? Of having something tangible, something beyond piracy? Because he was beginning to experience that a bit for himself throughout season 2?

Or, mayyybbeee Ed just saying that as a sort of "yeah, he's had issue with me for wanting this, so he fucking WISHES" type thing?

But idk; the whole interruption just feels so off to me as I previously mentioned, and then that comment causes an even deeper dissonance and discomfort. Because, it seems to be right up there with trying to further Izzy's queerness and acceptance without any sort of backing. Like, "oh, suddenly this man who mocked Lucius after Lucius and Pete had sex and wanted Ed dead for being softer and feminine...is jealous at the idea of two men having softness and sex."

And it sort of shakes hands with the "made your boyfriend blush" comment too, in the sense that he's suddenly all buddy buddy and totally down with all of this, like he's neeeeever had an issue with any of it for any sort of reason. You know???

TLDR, I guess I really dislike that entire interruption and everything that goes along with it, and many of the subsequent characterization choices just feel so weird to me ((Except for Stede being like "jESuS!!!")). And I really wish the interruption could have been from someone who had been subjected to all of Stede's sleep-moaning, because that would have been hilarious, made narrative sense, served as a callback, and completely gotten rid of the dissonance.

Currently, there are three seasons of VADTD uploaded on Kakaopage, Kakaowebtoon and Tapas:

Season 1 - From episode 1 to 44 + the prologue

Season 2 - From episode 45 to 85

Season 3 - From episode 86 to 124

Hopefully the season 4 will come early fall 💜

About the spoilers of the novel, yes of course I can give you some specific ones, whether you want to ask in the comments of this post or ask me by inbox. But I can give you some simple spoilers for what we will probably see in season 4:

This season will reach the climax of the story, so we will have to prepare ourselves for the roller coaster of emotions that it will make us feel 🫣

We will see two important parties: the birthday celebration of crown prince Callisto and a dance between him and Penelope, as well as Penelope's coming-of-age ceremony and the tragedy of the poisoned glass of wine🍷

But mainly, we will finally see the character of Ivonne Eckhart👀

I feel like some of these Riverdale final season episodes have that sort of Very Special Episode type of vibe, except seasoned with the usual Riverdale mayhem then buried in pot in the ground to ferment into kimchi (which is to say, a food that retains some of the aspects of the original cabbage but smells, tastes, and has an altogether different nutritional value and gastronomical impact on the palate). Episode 119 (Skip Hop And Thump) was the The Closet is Bad episode which ended up making me hate Kevin, which reached a nadir from which he will never recover with the Prostitution Episode (Episode 124). Episode 120 (Sex Ed) was the Repression is Bad episode which started 1950s Betty on her Sex on the Brain character arc to the obliteration of all other interests which sort of reached an apotheosis in Episode 124 (Dirty Dancing) where flashing her panties to the entire town on live television was presented as some sort of ‘liberation’ by a bunch of male writers who really don’t want to think about things like equal pay for equal work and the fact that maternity leave should be no less than 2 years, fully paid, and mandated by federal law, but definitely want more pretty women to get more naked in public (fuck them all). Episode 121 (Love and Marriage) was literally about those things - lavender marriages (Cheryl and Archie), relationships across various barriers + fan service (Jughead and Veronica). Episode 122 (Tales in a Jugular Vein) was about The Power of Narrative - about how narrative can be salvation and joy for the writer but also cost him goodwill of those who are important to him.

I promised so here it is: my favorite bdubs mindcrack episodes. was gonna do etho too but this list is already humongous so I will simply have to make a separate post.

s1 ep 21 - in which bdubs tells his audience we are NOT going to bother etho for help with his spawner situation and etho chats him in the middle of saying so to ask if bdubs wants help. continued in 22 and 23 where bdubs invites etho to move in with him and we learn what sports etho played.

s1 ep 59 - bdubs promises to kill someone on the server in exchange for etho providing him the means to stay alive. etho showers him with meat (not clickbait) in ep

s1 ep 86 - appraising beef's castle. it's a whole thing

s1 ep 96 - b-team mafia threatens etho. rub jobs.

s1 ep 100 - all-time fave. just before the Trial, etho and bdubs hang out, explode a common area, bicker about filling in holes, and lie to each other about wanting each other dead.

s1 ep 107 - b-team redstone shop.

s1 ep 121 and 124 - etho gets blamed for the latest e-pranker actvity. etho decides to show bdubs what a real quality etho prank looks like.

s2 ep 6 - redstone with bdubs!

s2 ep 10 - the most iconic horse bdubs has ever owned and the beginning of etho and bdubs' joint horse projects.

s2 ep 28 - bdubs building co begins.

s2 ep 33 - beginning of the nether hub, but also doc's perimeter project, witch farm edition.

s2 ep 34 - bdubs tries so hard to kill etho in the nether. it ends spectacularly (poorly). also, TWO BAJS intro, and subcontractor beef gets a lesson in using inferior materials for the broadcast station.

s2 ep 35 - includes a bit etho cut from his episode in which bdubs gives him a hard time for being sick. etho teaches bdubs how to do a fishing rod kill and gets upset that bdubs doesn't look at him when giving him the best gift of his life.

s2 ep 38 - the only noises you're gonna hear from me and etho is [perfect ghast noises]

s2 ep 43 - etho tries to kill bdubs and it goes spectacularly (poorly). dinnerbone pranks bdubs. maybe do not watch the intro in public due to the um well bdubs used to get really out of breath when doing combat. so.

s2 ep 50 - the explosive return of the e-pranker.

s2 ep 52 - bdubs builds a two-car garage for beyonc?. ymmv here i just love beyonc and i love his stupid little garage on his goofy little house with his silly little manicured lit lawn.

s2 ep 57 - we learn the identity of the e-pranker

s2 ep 81 - the beginning of yet another season-ending collaboration. continues notably in 82, 85, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 98, 99, 102, 105, 110.

s2 ep 84 - the b-team become french pastry chefs.

s2 ep 101 - a review of all the builds he'd done so far - not much jungle stuff in this list so you can see it here too. talks about trying to build perfect adventure maps for others on the server!

s3 ep 2 - the beginning of bdubs' hatred of nighttime dangers. he suffers a lot in his forest base.

s3 ep 23 - the beginning of the horse racetrack western town. it's NOT an arena, doc jokes, because he doesn't want the server to reset. little does he know that etho + bdubs horse courses are even more cursed. continued through the majority of the rest of the season. which ends before it's done, of course.

s3 ep 28 - tnt & redstone. what could go wrong

s3 ep 31 - etho and bdubs horsin' around. bdubs cuts out him being ill but we all know how that went down.

s3 ep 39 - redstoooooone with bdubs! generik quizzes bdubs' redstone knowledge.

How many works do you have on AO3?

2. What's your total AO3 words count?

675,033 (about 200k or so of these aren't actually mine because when you do a collaboration with several authors, it adds the total word count of the fic to everyone's word counts)

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Mass Effect mostly. Once in a blue moon Dragon Age. The majority of my posted fics are Supernatural.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Season Z Watching You Truth or Dare You Should See Me In A Crown Lock Me Up (These are all Supernatural)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I respond to every comment I get! There have for sure been times where its taken me months to do so, but I always do.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Here's the thing, "angstiest" is super subjective. I've got lots of fics with pretty angsty endings. There was a point at which people regularly called me a murderer because I had a habit of killing characters. However, I tend to find 'fate worse than death' much angstier than character death, so this one in which Dean burns off his soul to find Cas' grace to save him is it, I think: Whatever It Takes.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

You Should See Me In A Crown. I have a tendency to not do straight up happy endings. Like, trauma doesn't just go away, ya know. So my happy endings tend to be more melancholy/hopeful or what have you. This fic is absolutely an exception to that. Everyone gets what they want, the guy gets the guy. Basically I wrote this like an action movie haha

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I've never gotten *hate* on a fic, but I have gotten comments that are rude and shitty in the way of commenters being demanding about what should happen in a fic or complaining that things weren't written the way they wanted them to be. My response to that usually something along the lines of "you fucking write it then."

9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?

Yeah! I very much enjoy writing smut. I think probably most of the smut I write is pretty vanilla, although I have definitely written some more intense kink by request and also because I like to challenge myself and learn new things. I do think my sweet spot when it comes to smut is leaning into the emotion involved. For most of my characters sex is less about the physical act of sex and more about trust and intimacy, so leaning into that works for me.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I have an unfinished Supernatural/Into the Badlands fic, and honestly I only ever wrote one chapter, but I had initially planned to do a chapter for every episode of Into the Badlands. I also have a half-outlined, partially written Supernatural/Dragon Age crossover in which Dean is a templar, Cas is an apostate, and Sam is a Grey Warden haha

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I don't think so

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Several! Its why my word count on AO3 is so high, actually lol

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

I have a lot of ships across a lot of media, but the one I always always always come back to is mShenko.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Oh god, I have a ton of abandoned WIPs from my Supernatural days that I'd love to finish but probably never will. I just can't bring myself to write Supernatural fic anymore.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Character voice and creating dynamic relationships between characters.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Consistency, especially in long fics. My writing style tends to change, sometimes pretty significantly, from one chapter to the next.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Hell yeah, I love multilingual characters, and I love putting foreign language dialogue in fic. If you're using a made up language, you can kind of do whatever you want. If you're using a real language, try to find a native speaker to help you with it so you don't accidentally end up writing something offensive or that you don't mean to.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Lust. I wrote this fic for the SPN Dark Fic bang in 2019 because I wanted to write murder husbands. It was honestly super fun to take a full loving, domestic dynamic between Michael and Crowley and juxtapose it with them also being incredibly brutal murderers.

- Chapter 122: They meet and Creed captures Homura (by Justice's order) with his Ether Lock, shrinking her into a palm-sized cage. - Chapter 124: Creed thinks that Homura is pretty. - Chapter 126: Because of Xenolith's attack: "Gravity Center" Creed dropped Homura's cage. To avoid Victory stepping on her, Creed unlocks her cage, releasing her and restoring her to normal size. As Homura leaves the scene, Creed is seen blushing while looking at her. - Chapter 130: Creed is seen looking at pictures of Homura while blushing.

NERO 66 ARC (139-169):

- Chapter 151: They run into each other. Homura remembers him. though she (accidentally) calls him "forgettable man in glasses" and (embarrassed) he tells her that his name is Creed.

- Chapter 152: As they have the same goal (stop Shura from using the all-link) Creed proposes they work together. Homura says she doesn't trust him and Creed assures her he would never lie to someone as beautiful as her.

- Chapter 154: An embarrassed Homura asks Creed to stop following her, to which he responds that there's nothing he can do since they're going in the same direction.

- Chapter 159: Creed reveals his real name, Seiji, to Homura and that he comes from the same planet as her, Oedo. She's surprised to know that he belongs to the shogunate family of Oedo.

- Chapter 160: After discovering Creed belongs to the Shogunate family of Oedo Homura apologizes to him for the way she was been acting with him. Creed says she should treat him the same as always, as they aren't in Oedo and the cosmos are free. He says his objective is to change the old ways of their home planet, which Homura says is a wonderful idea, and smiles at him. Creed thinks Homura's smile is too beautiful for words. As they agree to work together to destroy the all-link system they are found by Jesse who points a gun at them and asks Creed to get away from Homura. As Creed prepares to use his ether on Jesse, Jesse fires at him, shooting him in the chest. As he's falling, Creed confesses his feelings to Homura and dies.

- Chapter 161: Homura closes Creed's eyes. When asked who Creed is, she replies he is "a friend from home". While crying, she says everyone that gets close to her goes away (ie dies).

- Chapter 168: Jesse says to Justice that Homura was the one who killed Creed. That she seduced and then killed him. Meanwhile, Homura hopes that Creed (his body) made it back to his ship/crew.

X495 ARC (170-180):

- Chapter 171: with a sad expression, Homura remembers Creed.

LENDARD ARC (181-220):

- Chapter 211: Homura offers Justice assistance in the battle against Acnoela. He remembers that Jesse said that Homura was the one who killed Creed.

- Chapter 216: Justice admits that it doesn't make sense that Homura killed Creed.

EDENS ZERO REUNION ARC (221-247):

- Chapter 232: On Universe 0, Homura and Creed met during a sword match when they were kids. Homura injured him in the presence of the Shogun, Creed's father, thus Homura was to be beheaded. Despite his injury, Creed stood in defense of Homura, asking his father to show mercy. In the end, Valkyrie, Homura's master, was beheaded in Homura's place.

- Chapter 234: On Universe 0 Homura meets Valkyrie, she is surprised to see that Valkyrie is alive since she was beheaded. Valkyrie says that Creed/Seiji was the one who repaired her.

I’M BACK EVERYONE!

Hello everyone! It’s me, Muggle-Born-Princess and I just wanna say that I’m officially back from my 1 month hiatus!

It honestly feels really great to be back on here. I know I have a lot to take care from answering questions in my inbox to writing my Chloe and Zoe AUs on @pro-bee-sisters to posting more content on my art and writing blog.

Speaking of content, I do wanna point something out: I’m really sorry to say this, but after Season 5 of Miraculous and the Awakening movie, I am officially gonna be done with the show for good. I’m really sorry to those who only followed me for Miraculous content only, but it’s the truth. After hearing about how the season has been so far with multiple retcons, terrible writing choices, and character flanderization 24/7, I think it’s about time I say goodbye to the show.

But,

That’s not gonna happen anytime soon! 😊

Yep, even though I will be closing the book on Miraculous, I won’t do it immediately for the following reasons:

1. I will be rewatching the whole series before I start S5 as a whole just to see what aged poorly or what still holds up. (I think we all know the answers to those both. 🙄)

2. Once I start Season 5, I plan to do some multiple rewrites and AUs for it. Mainly for my second arc for The Lost Miraculous, despite that being in progress still.

3. Speaking of rewrites and AUs, that’s the other thing I wanna do before I leave the show for good. I especially wanna do my AUs involving Chloe and Zoe (i.e. The Queen Bee and the Vesperia & The Bee Sisters Duo!); some Chlonette in there because they’re my now my OTP (i.e. Bug & Wasp Game); and some other characters that deserve focus and potential too (i.e. A Fox and Her Club which features Lila and Sabrina as a duo; Pink and Purple Love Square which involves a Love Square between Rose/Pigella and Juleka/Purple Tigress)

4. I am super excited for the Awakening movie! The trailer and animation look so promising and since Astruc himself will not be apart of it whatsoever, it gives me hope that maybe the show will get back on its feet and if not, then we can officially call the movie the new canon if it’s any good!

I also do wanna point out that I also wanna focus on other fandoms I’m a part of and do more work for them. (i.e. Super Mario, Total Drama, Monster High, etc...) That’s why I also have my art and writing blogs, so I can focus more on those than Miraculous. Don’t get me wrong, I will still do fanwork for Miraculous, but I also wanna expand myself to other interests just to see if anyone else is interested.

Now that brings me up to this:

Will I stop following MLB-related blogs?

Well, that depends. I do have a lot of Miraculous-related blogs I adore (@immaturityofthomasastruc; @miraculousbeezcentral; @emdoddles; and @a-chlolix-blog being my Top 4), but here’s the deal: If they’re still active, then I will still follow them just for their content. However, if they end up retiring from the show just like me, then I don’t see the point of still following them.

It’s been a really long run being a part of the Miraculous fandom, but I think it’s about time I say goodbye to it. It had a very long run for about 8 and a half years with 5 seasons, 124 episodes, 2 specials, an upcoming movie, and more to come. I say it did good for what it became.

Which leads me to my final question:

What’s gonna happen to me now that I will be done with Miraculous?

Well obviously, I still will make fan content for it and sometimes, you will see me with a Miraculous avatar on here to dA to AO3. But, as I said, I will not only focus on other fandoms and expand them even more with their own fan content, but I will also be making a poll asking my followers what’s the next magical girl series I should explore next.

As much as I had my problems with Miraculous itself, I will admit that it did give me a new outlook on the magical girl genre in general, and it made me really happy to see that I can learn to understand what the genre is all about, and what made it so popular to begin with.

All in all, while I will miss those who I befriended in this fandom, I need to move on and find out what other new things that are out there that I will like~

Thoughts on Manhwa adaptations

I have no objective evidence, but I suspect the more the popular a series is, the more the studios want to keep it popular and serializing, so they'll milk it for all it's worth.

The complaint that Matriarch is dragging is a valid one: it's been 120 chapters and they're still kids. I'm not sure, but I think they're still following a roughly 1:1 adaptation with the novel and manhwa. At this rate, they won't finish by chapter 200 or anytime soon. It's a super hit at 1 billion views, so they're keeping it strong.

Villains are Destined to die ended Season 3 with episode 124. This is also roughly a 1:1 adaptation with its novel. The novel has about 230 chapters, so it'll likely have a volume 5 IMO. It's also massively popular with 67 million views.

Actually, I was the Real One (54 million views) is still ongoing, but it has quite a bit of manhwa original content so I'm not sure if it has enough content for a season 4. Its novel is about 180 chapters, and it's currently at about chapter 110 and nearing the end.

Father, I don't want this marriage (55 million views) just finished at chapter 123, it's novel had about 230 chapters. So it went at a quicker rate than the others. I was honesty surprised they didnt' drag it out.

Villain Duke's Precious One (26 million views) - another one of Eclair's novels adapted to a manhwa by Luna-Heng. The main story ended at novel 181 chapters, and the manhwa ended at chapter 113 (?) I think? I noticed that they rushed the end, doing a 1:2 speedy adaptation.

I noticed newer serializations of manhwa start off with a rapid pace to hook readers in (makes sense, with all the competition around), but that very much depends on the studio).

YM (20 million views) - Main story 234 chapters, epilogue 11 chapters, special side story 8 chapters. I noticed the rate of Chapters 1-65 was about 1:1, then starting near the end of season 2 the rate went crazy to about 1:1.2 to 1:2.4 for an adaption (basically about 1 manhwa chapter adapts 2.4 novel chapters). Officially, the announcements say they were going for for "more dramatic and exciting events", so I hope it's not a sign that they want to rush to get it finished with. I do agree it's hard to adapt all of that internal monologue to make it interesting and exciting....

Anyways, the current rate is about 1:1.5 right now, which is.. OK I guess. I can see them speedrunning it back to about 1:2.4 though.

Depending on how the rest of season 3 goes, I suspect chapter 117 will end with RupeLali reuniting (pt 1). Which makes sense because it gives some sort of reasonable ending (anywhere else is a massive 5 month cliffhanger of separation).

After that, if a season 4 is greenlit, then ~ chapters 118-140 would adapt the rest of the main story. If we're super lucky, chapters 141-146 would be the epilogue, which is where most of the rupelali sweetness and couple moments are. If we are the luckiest readers on earth, they'll adapt the special side stories, which is like another 4 chapters.
