Note
that poll has me seriously considering Marlon and Gus... why
Succumb to my wisdom Silly (/j)
Anyways, I'm going to try and flesh this out with some basic dot-points to see if I could see it working. Enjoy >:)
Marlon x Gus Dot Points
tw: for death mentions, injury, food, possible (?) unreality
I'm trying to think of a ship name. "Fighting-Recipe"? Uh..."Dinner-Slayer" no
Anyways. Old men who love each other.
Marlon always gets free meals after coming back half-dead from the mines. Trust me when I say Gus pulls out all the stops to make sure he doesn't have to spend all his money at Harvey's (let's be real none of us can afford that at first. And there's no way Marlon's as rich as our players--surely)
Very slightly and kind of adjacent to grumpy x sunshine? Marlon being the grump and Gus being the sunshine
More reserved x friendly honestly
Gus definitely had to initiate the relationship. It probably started with Gus knowing Marlon had a thing for Marnie and trying to help. He's a pretty good wing-man
But then of course Marlon ended up falling for him instead! Gus didn't like him back for a long time--he restricted his feelings to only platonic--but eventually it got the better of him. That was still after Marlon had liked him for a while, though
No "who fell first who fell harder" because although Marlon fell first they both love each other an equal and healthy amount
Gus had to confess I think. He was still nervous as all hell, but he did it.
Idk if the following counts as unreality but just in case... Unreality tw for the last few dot points.
Imagine: you're Marlon. You've spent all day in the mines fighting and working and doing injury report paperwork for the farmer. You're tired. You enter the Stardrop Saloon for a nice thing of beer. Everyone seems really, really interested in you for some reason. You sit down at the bar. Shane is staring at you but looks away. Suddenly, you notice Emily hurrying over to the jukebox and changing the song.
It's the Macarena. Gus starts dancing--I'm kidding!!!
No, it's a slow-dancing romance song. You look over at Gus for answers; he quickly looks away. But not for long, because with a deep breath, he walks over to you and says the following.
"Did you...Sorry. Would you like to go on a date with me?"
(Sorry long-time Gus fans I don't know what he would say exactly)
You're stunned. What?! Did he--did he just as you out on a date? Didn't he think you still liked Marnie? Or were you that obvious?
Final rating: 7.75/10. Not my go-to, but I wouldn't complain if it was canon. Marnie definitely deserves Marlon over Lewis though in my opinion.
Hope you enjoyed, Silly.
