Racism and colourism are systemic, and of course they're rampant in most media, fandoms, merchandising, the whole shebang. So these are far from the only examples of this being a problem, but it's maddening being into jjba, ffvii, and fma and seeing damn near NOTHING for any of the (scant) core characters of colour from these fandoms.

Oh cool, look at all of this art featuring the large fma cast (if not massive cast regarding mangahood)! It includes villains even! ... So Scar just doesn't exist or...? Man, not even Miles? Paninya?? Hello????
#i don't like miles because he's used as a mouthpiece for racist pro-military liberalism but i'm always amazed that even he (the token 'good'#ishvalan) gets left out of so much fanart. but scar being fully omitted every single time regardless of whether we're talking#the brotherhood or 03 or manga as the focus it doesn't matter: you won't find shit for scar. ppl love every single war criminal more#kimblee included which is 💀. but scar is a step too far and it's exceptionally clear why#jjba (esp sdc) fans will lean on the gap in the arc where avdol is recovering off screen as an excuse#meanwhile they will include iggy. which means avdol should have alreadu returned#and barret has been left out of fanworks and canon spinoffs and merch since ffvii's inception#(i know paninya is a side character with little focus & rose isn't brown in mangahood but c'mon it still reeks)#and when the melanated characters get included they're literally whitefaced for the artist's racist comfort#hilariously this rant was spurred on by some acrylic standee merch for fmab that shockingly did include scar!#except his skin is not only significantly lightened! but it's green!! (?????) wtffffffffffffffff#and y'know that most merch/artwork is digital art! you can (at worst) colour pick from official art/anime frames! you have easy access to a#colourwheel! this shit sucks so hard!#not mentioned in the post but baten kaitos has this problem too. people lighten kalas' skin all the damn time#doesn't seem to happen to gibari but mostly because he doesn't get drawn much 🙃#jjba#ffvii#fma

More of those..."official merch looking like bootlegs" stuff :D
So I bought the whole SDC gang from the same seller that sold me the previous set. All's there apart from Iggy; idk if his Banpresto keychain exists.
I also realised their cardboard background is of a different colour and print than the Pol-Hol-Nilla-Dio set. As expected, the paint job was...yeah. I think out of the four, Jotaro looks the most decent.

-First off, little merch you can work into your life! Pins for your jackets or bags include this officially licensed zen monkey studio sparkly one and a fan made SDC one on etsy
-For stickers, there's an adorable froggie polnareff a very very squishy pol the jojo chariot card as a sticker and a very cute Polnareff face I want to squeeze (I mean look at him:
If you want some official JoJo merch, there's this cool metallic p5 card and a p5 shiny can badge!
-Unfortunately this etsy shop is taking a break atm, but they have the coolest coco jumbo and key friendship necklace set!!!
-Good news though, there's still an officially licensed turtle key keychain!
-Since Pol's favorite color (according to Araki) is gold and his tarot card is the chariot, I think this necklace is the perfect nod to him!
-When I think of Pol, the scene where Silver Chariot skewers the coins stands out, so here's a cool yes/no divination coin you can have in your pocket for him
-Another little Silver Chariot nod you can wear are these cool moon and sword earrings!
-Next, here are some accessories and clothes if you want to work his outfit into your wardrobe:
-Clear heart earrings like his and a few different finishes in the same style from an etsy seller (like glitter, solid, metallic)
-A black one shoulder shirt like Pol's (that goes up to 2x)
-Cuff bracelets that give me similar vibes to his
-Instead of just a rucksack, there's a cool oversized green corduroy tote
-If you want to learn some French phrases and conversations to connect with Pol, here's a pocket reference book
-And if you want to make french food as another way to connect, there's a great "kids" cookbook with some basic but delicious recipes as a way to dip your toes into the cuisine!
-I also think Polnareff is really into fashion, so having some french magazines around to flip through can bring him into your space! I recommend the Vogue Paris Collections magazine (they usually release after fashion week and I've found it at Barnes and Noble before!)
-For a cute solo date, buy yourself red roses from Pol, grab a baguette and some garlic and herb cheese (the laughing cow one!) and (if you're of age) some sweet sparkling white wine like a moscato (don't forget a glass)! If you want extras, pick up some fresh strawberries or melon, meats like salami or ham, and your favorite chocolates. Grab a blanket, find an open spot, and have a picnic <3
-Finally, music suggestions!! Pol's namesake is Michel Polnareff (and I love how he absolutely claims the character, it's so sweet:

ISO Jean Pierre Polnareff Merch...
I’m planning on possibly making an Ita Bag, if there is enough Pol merch. If not then I’ll just make a Stardust Crusaders one instead.
I was kinda late to the fandom that’s why I didn’t get to pre-order any of the Part 3 merch from Japan. Most of the Japanese hobby sites I go to are all sold out and are not taking any back-orders anymore. So I’m kinda disappointed about that. I did manage to buy some official jjba keychains and pins from GE that were released here in north america but I need more to fill out the ita bag.
Please HMU if you guys are selling any or know anyone that sells SDC merch, especially Polnareff. Or if you know any websites where I can buy them for a reasonable price please let me know too! Thank you! :D
