i think personally the scp wiki is pretty safe from the "death by overexplaining" thing that happened to the backrooms specifically because you CAN'T overexplain the scp foundation. they make such a point of nothing being the one true canon that we have a zillion different versions of SCP-001 depending on what you think is the real one, or if you think it's none of them. you can never officially declare answers to SCP foundation mysteries just like you can't officially declare which 001 proposal is real. i think that helps it stay sort of unknowable and keeps it interesting

They are specialized spies that were trained by the foundation after certain circumstances in their youth.

Angel is a reborn karcist(he doesn't remember that) the foundation found him when he was about eight and decided to use his fleshcraft for study.

Seraphim is a android created by a mehkanite. The man had a raid done on his home and they found the young android and took him away to study.

Now the two are best buds and usually spend their time inside the foundation until duty calls as they cant leave unless on a mission or heavily monitored.

okay so scp is like... theres no actual body of specific media that can be consumed that teaches you the canon? there's the mainsite (https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/) which has every article written

the articles are "official" documents detailing the different containment procedures for different anomalies (like fucking... bigfoot, jersey devil, etc, or just other brand new made up guys)

the premise of the scp universe is that there's a world "behind the veil" where different groups work towards capturing, containing, killing or freeing these anomalies.

How I Would Recommend joining scp fandom is via reading some of the most popular articles, maybe? like scp 035, scp 049, scp 173 (<- you cannot not know this guy. he's everything /j), scp 096, scp 682, so on and so forth?

but if you only want to know abt benjamin kondraki the main article i would recommend is my ever beloved scp-7408 (https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-7408). I wont spoil it for you but its genuinely one of my favourite articles to ever be written (i am visibly biased). another good piece of reading to understand who kondraki is is the tale "portraits of your father" (https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/portraits-of-your-father [I'm warning you now that it deals with suicide and alcoholism and there's some... intense gore in the scene that deals with the immediate aftermath of the suicide.])

something important to note is that scp is whatever you want it to be. there's literally no canon. or rather, there's so many canons that sticking to one is ludicrous. your headcanons? yea that's canon. that's your own canon. tadaaa.

some random TMA worldbuilding speculation about five years too late, but here it is anyway: I used to wonder what the practical purpose of Artifact Storage was supposed to be. like, I know the in-universe reason for its existence was that the Institute was "researching" the artifacts, but by the end we know the Institute wasn't researching shit; Elias (and presumably the people in charge of the sister organizations) knew exactly what was up with all that crap all along.

then I realized: it's Elias's home garden. hoard a bunch of extremely scary and dangerous artifacts with very specific containment requirements, then put a few stressed-out academics in charge of keeping it all in order so you can passively feed on their fear. people who desperately want to believe that learning and knowing the behaviors of every item will be enough to keep them safe. it's a less effort-intensive version of what Peter does on the Tundra.
