i've treated hundreds upon hundreds of trauma patients, and i can tell you, the force required to break a sternum is insane. like, airbags deploying in a 60mph crash where no one is wearing their seatbelt levels of force, and even that won't always do it. patients are at risk of multiple other thoracic injuries, which can be life-threatening, in the setting of a sternal fracture, and it takes months to heal completely.

that matty apparently suffered the injury in game 3 and was allowed to play in game 4 is mind-boggling. i'm sure he wanted to, but he absolutely should not have been given the choice.

as much as i genuinely wanted the panthers to win the cup... i will be overjoyed for jack eichel to win after everything he's been through with his health and how the sabres treated him and being constantly being compared to mcdavid. he deserves this.

Look, unpopular opinion maybe but I think I’ve noticed the main difference in McDavid’s game vs Eichel’s.

Obviously McDavid is the better overall player, he makes plays and scores out of absolutely nothing, no one can dispute that.

But. But I will say. As many goals as Connor scores, Jack assists on just as many. This has definitely developed since his Buffalo days. He also makes plays out of nothing, but he’s the one that gets the puck to the player who scores. At least this season, and particularly during the Florida series. The difference is that Connor has…two? players that he can count on. Jack has like eleven. Jack is one piece of a well oiled machine. Connor has to be the machine. (Plus one German of course)
