finished tsc. my review under the cut so nobody shout spoilers at me because THERE’S SPOILERS UNDER THERE⬇️⬇️⬇️BIG UNS

it was good! not really what i was expecting but nevertheless. some of it just felt a little… out of place, maybe? i appreciate nora’s dedication to fleshing out jean’s side of the narrative but. idk. i couldve used a bit more plausibility in the flesh.

the last scene with grayson had me confused and took me out of it. it felt overdone and played up, which is a weird thing to feel about a book because nobody is playing anything. lucas as a character is, yeah, really dedicated to wanting his brother back. but like, come on man. have a little fucking sense. read the room. context clues are not a thing in this universe apparently

neil showing up at the end felt kinda deus ex machina just for jean’s sake and i felt like it held little to no weight for narratives outside of jean at all. (yes it’s a book about jean. i still would like to retain some sense of cohesion with the universe at large. sue me.) i couldve sworn neil cleared everything about riko and his december at edgar allen up with the fbi at the end of the last book. one detail that kept snagging my brain was the bit with neil’s hair and stuff. i KNOW he told somebody that riko made him change it back, not by jean’s encouragement. (i specifically remember it because i always found the wording he used in the scene kind of odd. something something “gave me back my natural looks”? maybe? granted i read that book when i was like 15 and ive always been a nitpicker). is neil shooting himself in the foot there by telling a new and different story to the fbi or am i remembering wrong? i dont have my copy with me atm otherwise id check.

idk. that’s my review. still enjoyed it! glad i read a book. 4/5 stars
