kazuha has always found kuni’s younger sister absolutely adorable. despite her sometimes disturbing comments about topics that are normally far beyond a child’s comprehension, she’s a gentle and compassionate kid. kazuha doesn’t mind her company when he’s at ei’s house.
but he never expected to be left alone with the task of babysitting the six-year-old while kuni leaves for an emergency board meeting because of the stock market collapse or something.
now, kazuha isn’t jobless. he’s a lit professor and is normally too busy to be appointed as an unpaid babysitter. but it’s, sadly, winter vacation.
“you have old man hair,” mei says, with a savage flat tone of voice.
kazuha winces, he physically winces, and strokes his hair. “would you like to play? i have dolls. one of them looks like you, in fact—”
“i’m drawing.”
she was, in fact, drawing. with four crayons and a sheet of old newspaper. her long, purple ponytail kept getting in the way though. she still refused to let it sit on her back. instead it was proudly tucked on her shoulder.
kazuha bravely tries to make conversation. “who are you drawing? is that nii-san?”
mei nods at this, face slightly brightened. “nii-san bought me a computer yesterday. this is my present to him back!”
kazuha is suspicious. “does your mother know?”
ei does not like technology. ‘it disturbs the nature’s eternal balance’, she says, ‘brings in unpredictable variables’. to this day, she doesn’t own a cell-phone.
mei is alarmed by the question, and dodges it with, “nii-san is buying you a present too!”
kazuha isn’t gullible enough to fall for this. he isn’t. “what present?”
mei colours kuni’s hair with her purple crayon. “it’s a ring! he says it’s really special and that i’m not supposed to tell you.”
kazuha loses the ability to speak for the next half-hour. mei looks pleased with herself, at least.
scaramouche comes home at 1 am that night, to kazuha sleeping on the couch with his ponytail undone, and mei sleeping on top of him, still holding the rubber band she obviously stole from kazuha’s hair.
scaramouche takes about a dozen pictures before picking up mei and putting her to sleep in the guest bedroom. she mumbles something about secret, sorry, and drawing.
but scaramouche pays it no mind.
when he goes back to carry kazuha back to their bedroom, he finds him sitting up on the couch, disoriented and rubbing his eyes with his palm like a sleepy 5 year old. “kuni?” he mumbles in scaramouche’s general direction. “did you save the economy?”
scaramouche smiles and scoops kazuha into his arms, kissing him senseless until they have to breathe. “i love you so much,” scaramouche whispers, gently biting kazuha’s nose.
“i’ll marry you too!” kazuha mumbles, then drapes himself all over scaramouche and falls sound asleep.
it takes a few minutes for scaramouche to reach a conclusion. it takes all of his conscience combined to not return mei’s computer the next day.

Q&A time? Oh boy!
Question 1: Have you ever played a game called Celeste?
Question 2: What got you into the omori fandom in the first place?
Question 3: uhhhh not a question but your art is fantastic and always a joy to see on my dash
Answer 1: Nope, but I've heard of it, it's like a platformer game right if I'm correct?
Platformer games gives a rise to my blood pressure, especially Super Mario Deluxe. Hopefully Celeste is a single player game, I might loose my voice if I keep yelling at my siblings to stay on track.
Answer 2: My best friend.
One day she was like, "Yo check this new game out, it's so cool looking!!" Proceeds to share with me her bundle of OMORI fanarts.
Then I was like, "wait a min, ain't that super familiar like the trailer I saw 2 years ago?"
Then she was like, "Woah you knew this before?!" And I replied yeah, because I knew bo en before I stumbled across the then OMORI demo trailer. That time I was under the assumption that OMORI is just like those scrapped game that is never gonna be finished but I didn't know/didn't get the news that its actually announced and played. It was 2021 then.
I didn't really pay attention to it, maybe I kept OMORI over the back burner, then still obsessing over Zelda instead, but it's only until I watched a "OMORI story explained" video that I got interested in it again, back in May.
Then I gave in and bought the game to play back in July, and now here we are.
Saddest thing is, my best friend got a new thing to obsessed over (ahem- Genshin -ahem) and I'm left with this brain rot myself. We still talk about omori occasionally, in fact, this drawing/post I made was actually a challenge my best friend gave me to do :D.
