Now that I'm thinkin about it again, got reminded of my first realization that things were getting.. out of hand? SAYER stretchin its control and boundaries more with every episode that went on.
Like boiling a frog, its "I.... am SAYER." introduction happening later and later in each subsequent episode until I'm left wondering if it'll even Do so, this time around. After the explanation for why it had to, for each resident, and something feeling so out of place until that line comes in, like we're suddenly back on track.
Like a gear clicking into place and things running smoothly again, even after all the horror that's been wrought.

Not me binging my way through the preceding ten episodes at a sprint to make sure I was immersed for the new sayer episode and coming out the other side of episode 85 shipping SAYER and SPEAKER because of SPEAKER's insistence on being incredibly snarky to SAYER's face but talking about how magically efficient it is when speaking with OCEAN

I laughed when sayer said Fuck, indeed. but also I want to point out that young panics as soon as he realizes there's a duplicate of him. not because of the inherent scariness of duplication (he backs up his brain! every night!) but because he is in an environment where having a duplicate of him present immediately renders his existence tenuous and conditional

i have this half-formed fic idea about ocean reactivating syoung and putting him in the f13 programming bay going off of some explanation along the lines of "needing someone in there to monitor it (in the knowledge that sayer might try to return) while ocean can do other stuff + it being easier to modify an existing AI than building a new one
i have a lot of thoughts about character interactions in this au that i might try to write up at some point but i got tired. that said. im fixated on the idea of syoung having vague secondhand memories of porter + porter being just generally kind of fascinated with him + the fact that both of them knew future and neither of them knows what happened to it :')
