A little update
Hello, my loves.
This is basically my monthly check-in to show that I'm still alive. There's been some hefty shit lately. I got passed over for a promotion that I've been doing the job of for four months. That didn't fuckin tickle.
I always want to be back here - I want to dip into my favorite community and spend time here and write again, but in full honesty, I have not been able to write in almost two full years now. It's like the muses are stuck and don't know how to move on.
I want to be here. So I'm gonna keep trying to write, and I'm gonna keep trying to be active, and so I'll be happy if any of you choose to stick around but also don't blame any of you if you wander away.
Hugs to you all and especially any of you who might be dealing with some shit right now. Please remember that even if I'm not posting that my inbox and ask box are always open for chats. <3

just going to keep this au tucked into the back of my mind for the rest of the show btw. doctor who if his companions literally would not leave him alone. he keeps getting new companions and they’re just. integrated into the tardis family. bonding over how much they all love this weird pathetic spaceman who has enriched and/or ruined their lives.
#even funnier if the doctor regenerates and tentoo does not so theyre just perpetually stuck with angsty david tennant alongside whatever#doctor is flying the ship at the time#they’ll like. leave and do normal life stuff every once in a while.#the doctor internally going both ‘oh good theyre returning to their lives 🙂’ and ‘THEYRE ABANDONING ME 😭’ because he has issues#and then another companion will hijack the tardis to pick them up again because the doctor is trying to avoid it ‘for their own good’#the doctor tries to leave them all behind when they all go to donna’s wedding and is thwarted by luke smith (also invited to wedding because#donna and sarah jane are friends now and luke eventually starts living parttime on the tardis like sarah jane does (sarah jane i can see#going back home the most. but still never leaving the doctor alone lmao.) and anyway luke got overstimulated at the wedding and hid in the#tardis to calm down (sarah jane told him that was okay 🥺) and then the doctor tries to??? fucking leave everyone??? (<- having a crisis)#and twenty minutes later luke has commandeered the tardis back to the wedding and the doctor is getting an earful from both donna (‘YOU RAN#AWAY FROM MY WEDDING???? And put more tension between her paranormal podcasting persona and real life skepticism#don't love stuff that engages with true crime fans without actively critiquing it. Someday tumblr is going to be gone, or I will, and that's ok. It's sad, yes, but at least I will have known you. spent the last few weeks trying to figure out why the episodes after 12's run don't hit as hard and i cannot make a coherent argument for the life of me
#9 speaks#just finished the giggle and it feels like they're trying to set up a Sarah Jane Adventures kinda thing#which i hope to god doesn't happen#if they marvel-ify doctor who (more than it already has been) i will bite someone#but yeah no the most coherent argument i can make is that i think the series works best#when it's like 40-minute individual adventures with an overarching season plot#the episodes have an alien that's an allegory for whatever the fuck the writer wants to do commentary on#and you sprinkle in stuff about the doctor's life or reputation but you don't make it the WHOLE PLOT#i love the timelord victorious shit as much as the next guy but i think a lot of people forget that those episodes had like. a villain#like the doctor only got to have his little 'the laws of time are mine' moment because the mars colony was getting fucked by the water dude#it feels like as the series has progressed the 'doctor deals with issues' series-long b-plot has overtaken like. the actual aliens?#much as the toymaker was fun and camp and i love seeing him back#the connective tissue between bigeneration + toymaker + 'the doctor is wearing himself down and never stops'#was not strong in the slightest#it feels like someone took a bunch of disconnected scripts and jammed them together#anyway 9 is going to go read more 13th doctor fanfics bc she deserved better

I've really revolutionized my reading habits by sticking to the following rules:
If a new book has over a 4.5 rating on Goodreads, it's probably bad.
If Booktok is going insane over it, it's probably bad.
#i would like the hours of my life back that i spent reading the love hypothesis#and any other bad fanfiction turned bad not-quite-original fiction#sarah j maas also owes me like 12 hours over 2 books#it's so discouraging writing romance when stuff that is Objectively Bad Writing is what's getting popular#can we get some character-driven books for once? i'm so tired of tropes driving the plot#because that means psychological realism goes out the window#so much time crafting perfect book boyfriends when they need to spend that time crafting a good female protagonist#like i get that people want to be able to project themselves on wet cardboard protags like feyre and olive and bella swan#but that doesn't mean you have to write these hoes without a shred of personality!#no nuance no complexity we die like fucking idiots

post-canon: Slider comes and sits in front of Tom's tombstone everytime he's in town and speaks to him for hours, about everything that happened from the last time he was there to small anecdotes from when they were young. The first time he says you would have hated around here and from the second he starts taking a chair with him because I'm gettin' old Tommy, my back hurts more days than not. He leaves birthday presents and sends stupid Christmas cards to Sarah, just like he used to send to Tom. Sometimes he send them to Mitchell too, even if he knows the other man won't grasp the real meaning of them.
