I finally went and designed 'em!! A king salmon that appeared in a dream from a while back (I talked about how the salmon attacks + xtrawave works in this post)

...but the more I look at this character, now I'm starting to see them as a common boss salmonid instead of a king; they'd be around the same height as steelhead tho!

Here she is!!! Ol’ Maw Maw’s wife, Sunny ☀️ 🐟

Sunny is a laid-back, eccentric hippie that didn’t fit in with Salmonid society; instead, free spirit that she is, she decided to wander the land and eventually settled down in the Splatlands to paint landscapes, meditate and commune with the Earth. She met Flow in her younger days hitchhiking to music festivals, but now she’s living with Maw Maw and tends to their garden behind the diner- although not a lot of her vegetables make it into Maw Maw’s greasy, feel-good meals!

I was thinking how it’d be really funny if they did release playable salmonids, but that they were just normal salmonids (like chums and goldies) and not the ideal salmonling (that’s human shaped), so you just have salmonids who are just wearing clothing but are otherwise completely normal.

and what’d ya know, an OC popped out of that. Might write a fic about that or something at some point.

there were salmon idols i needed to exorcise from my brain. i think they go by hook-bait (chum) and tripwire (steel eel pilot)
