i wonder if anything will ever capture me quite like bug fables did
#everybody please play this game. it consumes my entire life for like two weeks during my winter break senior year#haiku was pretty good too#it’s not my favorite thing i’ve ever played but it really grabbed my attention#i almost finished the game in one day i just couldn’t put it down#rwdp had me in a chokehold for a few weeks but in a different way that bug fables#there’s something special about bug fables that i can’t quite put into words

On Rainwater Downpipe System
An overview of the rainwater collection system:
1. Collecting the Rainwater:
Rainwater could be collected directly onto a roof surface, where it is angled to fall into a rainwater outlet. The angling could be done in many ways - for example, on a reinforced concrete roof, the screed on the roof could be designed to slope towards the outlet, usually at a gradient of 1:150 to 1:200.
In order to help with the collection of rainwater into the rainwater outlet, a scupper drain is sometimes designed along the axes where the rainwater outlets are situated. These drains make screeding easier as instead of screeding towards points (of rainwater outlets), screeding could be done towards lines (where the scupper drains are). Once the water flows into the scupper drains, screeding in the scupper drain further channels the water into the rainwater outlets.
Sometimes, the creation of scupper drains increase the depth of screeding required on the roof. In addition, whenever scupper drains occur in areas where there is human traffic, drain cover gratings need to be put in place, preferably in a hardy material such as stainless or galvanised steel. If these areas are accessible by persons on wheelchair, grating gap size needs to be smaller than 12mm (By Singapore Accessibility Codes).
2. Channeling the Rainwater
The rainwater collected into the rainwater outlets may go one of two ways:
i. Gets discharged from the rainwater outlets after a short distance towards the exterior of the building, through sprout pipes or directly through the rainwater outlet itself. In this scenario, the rainwater collection system is a short one, and is mainly intended to quickly drain water away from a location to prevent ponding issues. In the Singapore context, most of the rainwater is intended to be channeled into reservoirs to be treated for drinking use. Hence, this method is not recommended for most of the rainwater collected.
ii. Gets channeled through a rainwater downpipe system into public drains. The rainwater downpipes could either be exposed or concealed inside shafts. Usually, it is not recommended for the downpipes to travel too great a horizontal distance above the ceiling and below the slab. This is to prevent water leakage onto the floors when the downpipe leaks.
As the rain reaches ground level, it flows into drains sunken into the ground. These drains also collect rainwater from the ground level. Usually, there are private drains as a part of larger development before the rainwater goes into public drains. As drains usually cover the perimeter of buildings, they are covered either partially or completely by drain covers, but may also remain exposed with fence to prevent people slipping in. Areas with heavier foot traffic tend to use drain covers. If these areas are accessible by persons on wheelchair, grating gap size needs consideration.
3. Containing the Rainwater
In most developments in Singapore, the rainwater that is channeled down into drains will first be contained before being discharged into the public drains for any development larger than 0.2ha (2000m2). This prevents a sudden influx of rainwater into the public drain system during sudden heavy downpours that may cause flooding when not discharged efficiently.
In conventional cases, the rainwater is contained within a detention tank calculated according to the catchment size of the development. Rainwater is then released to the public drains from this detention tank at a controlled rate stipulated by PUB through a flow regulator. Since the government would still like to collect the rainwater for consumption eventually, detention tanks are designed to discharge all of its water within a 4 hour window after the storm event.
At the same time, more ‘active’ methods of water detention could also be used, such as designing planting systems that slow the rate of flow of rainwater. Particularly, bioswales with amphibious plants could be an interesting addition to the design of the development. When such designs are developed, roofs channeling water to these bioswales could also have unique designs.
Types of rainwater downpipe systems:
1. Conventional Rainwater Downpipe System
As the name implies, these are standard downpipe systems.
Pros:
Useful when there are many outlets connecting to the main downpipe
Good for rain collection when volume is not high
Cons:
Rainwater flows down at a slower rate
Require a gradient when flowing horizontally, which may result in headroom issues when ceiling space is tight
Require a bigger pipe diameter when collecting the same amount of rainwater
2. Siphonic Rainwater Downpipe System
This system uses siphonic action to channel the rainwater down.
Pros:
Can siphon rainwater down at a higher velocity when there is large volumes of water
Does not require a gradient when flowing horizontally, which saves ceiling space
Requires a smaller pipe diameter when collecting the same amount of rainwater
Cons:
Does not reach full capacity until there is enough rainwater to create a full bore
Is not useful when the main pipe collects from too many outlets
At the end of the day, which pipe is more suitable depends on the area where it is applied. If a building collects its rainwater largely from a main roof, a siphonic system may be ideal. If a building collects its rainwater from many different areas, a conventional system may be better.
Other Key Terms and their Definitions
- Drop Inlet
A rectangular box below the surface level where rainwater flows into. Similar to a rainwater outlet, the rainwater that flows inside then gets discharged to a rainwater pipe that is connected to this drop inlet. Gratings cover the top of the box, and it is usually designed for roads and curbs. In Singapore, PUB provides a standard detail of how the drop inlet looks like for its road works.
- Sump
A sump is a large rectangular box area (larger than a drop inlet) that collects (in this case) rainwater inflow from different pipes before discharging it elsewhere. Usually, a sump is required at intersections where drains converge, and also where discharge from the rainwater down pipes to drains is anticipated to be high. There are usually multiple sumps in a development, and it can occur both before and after the detention tank for a variety of purposes. To prevent water back flow, in flowing water pipes to the sump needs to be at a higher level while out flowing water pipes from the sump needs to be at a lower level than the invert level of the sump.
- Invert Level (IL)
Conventionally, invert level is a technical term used in many liquid related systems (e.g. for both drains [for rainwater] and sewer [for sanitary discharge]). It is the lowest base level of a pipe/ trench. This is usually mentioned together with Top Level.
- Top Level (TL)
The top level, sometimes called by other names, is the top most level of the pipe/ trench/ drain.
Usually, a drain will be shown with both an IL and TL. The IL will indicate which direction the drain is flowing towards, while the TL needs to be verified to prevent the drain from being higher than its surrounding ground level.

Dean Winchester knows a lot about loving someone, but how he has forgotten of being loved.
Dean Winchester has been the one who gives so many times, he doesn’t know how to take.
Dean Winchester has scars on his body, remainder of the many times he fought and fell for the ones he swore to protect; but to be the cause of someone’s fall is all too new and foreign for him.
So when Castiel—a mighty angel, a warrior of God—falls from his grace, Dean turns blind. He continues to do so, actually, until the angel has to throw the words to his face.
And oh, how it is magical.
“I fell for you, Dean Winchester,” Castiel has said one day, with blood in his vein and stars in his eyes.
Dean doesn’t know how to react. This is not supposed to happen. Dean is just a low human; bloody and broken with soul so impure even Lucifer laughs (“Really, what was Dad thinking when he chose you to become Michael’s vessel, huh?”). He doesn’t deserve to be needed, to be loved. Yet here Castiel stands, all his humanity compressed in a small body of what used to belong to Jimmy Novak, his angelic grace seeping out fast.
So he gulps and stares, fear clear in his green orbs. His voice comes out shaky when he asks, “Why?”
Castiel’s head tilts. Dean suddenly remembers the first time Castiel showed himself, all majestic and mysterious. “Isn’t it obvious?” the dark-haired man asks with the same tone he used all those years ago.
“What’s so obvious?” Dean snaps. “For fuck’s sake, Cas, I-I’m not—I don’t deserve it. All this—” he waves his hands, gesturing at everything, “is not … look, I’m not worth it, okay? When I started out as a hunter, all I want was to make Dad happy, and maybe gank the son of a bitch who killed my Mom and avenge her. I didn’t sign up for this saving-the-world bullshit! I’m not cut for this. I did the exact opposite of what was told. I cause harm and destruction and death everywhere I go. I’m just…”
Silence stretches, and Cas looks at Dean as if he’s waiting for the hunter to finish his words. Dean runs a hand through his hair, feeling ache spreading all over his body, before he turns at Cas in desperation. “I don’t deserve you, and I’m sorry.”
“You shouldn’t,” Cas states firmly.
“No, you wingless dickbag! I should feel sorry, I really should!” Dean yells again, throat sore from the weight of emotions crashing in his voice. “I’m sorry, really. For bringing you down with me. Hell, if I was strong enough, all this wouldn’t happen. Lucifer wouldn’t walk out, Sammy would still have a life, and you … you would still be in Heaven, strumming angelic harp or something—not here, fallen, human.”
Dean decides that he’s had enough. All the burden in his shoulder comes crashing down, and now he just wants to sleep. Sleep and never wake up.
“Dean, listen to me,” Cas says again, this time with softer voice. “I fell for you. Not because of you, but for you. There’s a difference.”
Cas sees the stillness of Dean, the fear in his broad yet fragile body. He reaches out for Dean’s face, tracing the freckles on his cheeks. “I choose this path, Dean. It is not forced upon me. If any, I might have forced my existence on you,” Cas’ stare falls as he retracts his hand. Dean’s own itches to hold them, take them and feel the warmth of flesh against flesh, but he refrains. For a while, their breathing—and the night in the background—is the only sound filling the air.
Cas heaves a breath. “I left Heaven. I betrayed my own brothers and sisters. I gave up on my Father. I turn my back on my faith,” he says, his voice soft, his lips quivering. “I fell, Dean. I truly fell in every way imaginable.”
“Cas—”
“But,” Cas cuts him, looking straight at Dean’s eyes, into his soul, “I would do it again and again, because I know, in the end, I fell in the best way possible.”
Dean’s breath hitches when Cas finds a way to hold his face. The former angel smiles. The wind blows as a night breeze, delivering the sweet whisper of those sinful lips; “Dean Winchester, I fell in love with you.”
Surprisingly for both of them, Dean is the one to kiss first. At first, it feels like lips against lips. But then Dean’s stomach churns, and he kisses Cas again and again desperately. He grasps at the man’s lithe body, holding him so close he can hear the erratic thumping of his heart.
“Oh God, Cas…” Dean breathes, looking at the universe trapped in Cas’ blue orbs, and he kisses the man again. This time slower, softer, but more passionate than ever. Dean can’t help but cling at the feeling; cling at Cas like the human is his lifeline.
For once, Dean Winchester learns how it feels to be loved.
