You love Rumbelle? Golden Lace? Woven Beauty? Woven Lace?
You want to express that love in creative form?
You are competetive?
An experienced writer?
Or someone who never wrote fanfics but would love to try, especially for your OTP, with a bonus of complete anonymity helping you overcome the fear of failure or being judged by others?
You find writing 1000-1500 words oneshots the most comfortable / fun / etc?
You usually write long multi-chap things but would love to try writing something shorter?
You don't have the spoons for writing long multi-chap things but are itching to write?
You want to write but don't have a starting point and need some prompts?
Sign up for Rumbelle Showdown 2024*!
Trust me, you won't regret it 😉

The moment has arrived! Sign-ups are open!
Most of you know the drill. To sign up, send an email to [email protected]. In this email, I need three things from you:
Your tumblr name
Your super-secret Showdown pseud
Three prompts (no more than four words each)
If you're new to Rumbelle fandom... first of all, welcome! Secondly, you can refer to the FAQ, the Rules, and the Event Breakdown. Those posts sum up the Showdown pretty well. If you still have questions after that, please send an anon ask to the blog. No question is too small, too obvious, or too silly. Please ask.
You should receive a brief response to your sign-up email. If I haven't responded within a day, please message me on my personal blog, @jackabelle73
End date for sign-ups will be posted at the top of the blog, as soon as I figure it out.

It's that time of year, dearies!
The time of year when I ask if the fandom wants another Rumbelle Showdown. This is the official interest post. I'll use responses to this to judge whether we still have enough people active in the fandom to make this work.
One caveat: please don't respond to this post by declaring that you will absolutely be signing up as a writer. The authors are supposed to be anonymous, remember?
Due to the nature of the Showdown, I personally feel that we need a minimum of 10 participants at the beginning. I'd prefer a minimum of 12, but I'll run the event with 10.
It's not just a matter of having enough writers, though. This event requires fandom participation to work. I need the fandom to send in prompts, read the fics, reblog, comment, send love to the authors via the ask box, and most importantly, to VOTE!!
If you're new to the fandom -- and how wonderful that we are still recruiting new people to this crazy ship of ours? -- you may not know what I'm talking about. I'll refer you to our FAQ, Event Breakdown, and Rules. If you still have questions after reading those, send me a question via the ask box.

Showdown Rules
1. The author is not permitted to reveal their identity at any time. If you squeal, you forfeit. If you squeal on anyone else, you forfeit.
2. The deadline for each round will be clearly stated when prompts are announced and posted at the top of the blog. If you fail to meet the deadline, you forfeit.
3. The fic must be a minimum of 1,000 words and not exceed the limit for the round. There's a little wiggle room if your fic exceeds the max by only a few words, but please try to keep it under the max.
4. No bashing. Positivity only. If we catch an author bashing the others, you forfeit.
————————————————————————————— PROMPT REQUIREMENTS:
1. Since the fics are meant to be short, we can’t box in our writers if we want variety.
YOUR PROMPT CAN BE NO MORE THAN 4 WORDS.
4 WORDS.
YOUR PROMPT CAN ONLY BE UP TO 4 WORDS.
Everyone is encouraged to submit a prompt–including non-competitors! Feel free to submit as many as you like! But they can only be 4 words long.
Please make sure when you send in prompts that you specify whether a string of words is to be 1 single prompt or separate prompts. If you’re sending prompts via Anon Ask, please be specific in your wording so there is no confusion.
We will be drawing 3 prompts at a time, per round. Each author is expected to fill all 3 prompts within their fic. HOWEVER for multi-word prompts that are several separate ideas or images, do the best you can. You do not have to use every single word you are given.
2. This event is intended only for Rumbelle pairings. We love Anyelle, but, we can only accept Rumbelle, Golden Lace, Woven Beauty, or Woven Lace fics to even the odds for our contestants. Not everyone in this fandom writes Anyelle, and not everyone writes every Anyelle pairing.
3. The prompts may not specifically ask for smut. Not everyone is comfortable with reading/writing smut. We would rather leave that to the authors’ choice.

Rumbelle Prompt Showdown Breakdown
What is it? Registered authors will be placed on a bracket. Their fics will be voted on, and the higher rated fics will move on to the next round, and so on and so forth, until there is one winner.
What will we be writing? Once registration is open, everyone, even those not registered, are invited to submit prompt words/phrases. Submit as many as you can, because 3 prompts will be drawn at a time. The registered authors will write a 1000-1,500 word fic/snippet that MUST include all three prompts.
How do the writers advance? You will vote via ballot submission after a reading period that will vary by the number of participants. The moderator will tally the votes.
What makes this event any different? Writers will submit their stories anonymously.
Writers will choose a nickname for themselves -- one that must not give a clue to who they are. Only the mod and the respective writer will know the real identities.
This isn’t about popularity–this is about the quality of the stories!

Questions?
1. Do I need to be an experienced writer? It doesn’t matter if you’ve written 0 or 100000000 stories–anyone can join in on the fun!
2.Where will the fics be posted, and who will post them? Since the stories must be posted anonymously, everyone will email their fics to us, and we will post them on the Rumbelle Showdown blog for you, under your nickname.
3. Do we write one fic, or will writers be required to write a new fic based on new prompts if they reach the next round? You will write a fic based on each set of prompts that will be given for each round. If you would like to make it an ongoing story, that’s great! As long as each part fills the required prompts.
4. Do all writers get the same prompts, or are they different for each writer? Since there are a lot of sign-ups, everyone will be split into groups. Each group gets the same set of prompts per round. But the prompts will be short and general enough to give each writer a chance to make the story their own.
5. Do I need to set up a side blog to participate?
No. You just need to choose a Secret Pen Name that only you and the Mods know. If you do choose to set up a side blog for the Showdown, I ask that you refrain from posting any of your entries until the end of the contest.
6. In what format should we send our fics? I ask that you copy and paste your fic, with title, into the body of your email. Indicate your secret Showdown name and the round number in the subject line. "Jackabelle entry for round one." If you are able to attach it as a Word document, or provide a link to Google docs, please do that in addition to the copy/paste. Those options make formatting easier, but copying the text of your fic gives me a backup method.
7. Concerning your prompts: No, your fic doesn’t have to spell out each and every single prompt given to you, but I must be able to tell there is at least an influence. Especially concerning any abstract ideas.
