Ruhnuk Dailies and More Thoughts on 7.2
No story spoilers here, just talking about the quest objectives and how soloable they are and other positive feels about 7.2
Overall, I think 7.2 launched really well.  I know some folks are having issues with the new map system, but I haven’t any glitches or f-ups like we saw at the launch of 7.0.  I haven’t had any tech issues such as constantly falling through the floor, having to log in and out to teleport, etc.
That said, I have had a few problems with line-of-sight with healing comps, as well as pulling one group chain pulling a group that’s WAY over there -- there’s one hallway that’s just a death run unless you’re in stealth.  So be mindful of where your comps are at and pulling spawns into hallways, even if there looks to be enough distance between packs.
The dailies feel “natural” in the sense that you will eventually stumble across the objectives as long as you follow the way routes (which are pretty well done, given how twisty turny the planet is).  The graphics are beautiful here.  There’s a lot of stuff to do, so if you have double rep tokens, blow ‘em here; you’ll get the weekly cap of rep easily within about 2 days (I think I have 1130 rep left for this week?).  The flightpoints are spread out enough that you’re made to see the planet, and that’s a good thing, I think.
I ran through the dailies once.  The only one I’m having a glitch with is the Heroic Weekly, Blaze of Glory (kill Kithrawl).  I’ve tried it in a op group of 8 and in a smaller group of 4 -- never got credit for the quest.
The mouse droid quest, Unconventional Methods, IMHO, because it resets all progress when you get killed:
Tumblr media
Other than that:
Ani Ara’novor - find and sabotage equipment, well labeled on the map
One Mando’s Trash -- collect the blue objects in the mining map
Proving our Strength - burn Mando flags, summon one baddie, kill baddie; repeat 4 times.
Ruhnuk Rarebit -- kill animals to make snackies.
What’s in the Works?  - don’t worry about finding this one -- you will.  It’s not immediately obvious, but the other dailies will drag you there
Snapping the Chain/Natural Resources -- One of these is labeled a Heroic 4, but you can get the tags off regular pet creatures around camp -- you don’t have to fight the gold stars on the initial quest. Natural Resources climaxes with a Heroic 4.  I defeated it on a scoundrel by running around like a chicken with my head cut off, using a healing tactical on my bushwack to keep me healed, Akaavi on heals at about Comp level 20.
Weak Links -- let the map lead you around, you’ll run across the blue objects across the planet -- I only used the heroic transport at the end to get the last one.
The Strongest Links -- again, follow the directions, kill the mobs.
There are other one-off quests and quests you find in the process of doing the others.  One of these is Relic Hunt, which I haven’t started yet.
In sum, minus the Weekly Raid, you can solo everything with a 20 Comp; I don’t raid or do anything fancy beyond Seasons objectives.  You don’t have to pump up Shae to get the intro quests done.  Using Akaavi or Torian here is in general fun for RP’ing, but nothing is stopping you from using your other comps.
In sum, if 7.0 had dropped like this, I think reception would have been better for end-game content.  Keep in mind too we got Life Day and PVP revamp -- that’s a hell of a lotta stuff.  I’m actually hyped about PVP this week.  I LIKE seeing what I get as I progress.  Using the Seasons system is highly attractive to me, who can’t remember to visit the PVP vendor to save my life half the time.

Y'know one thing they've changed in SWtOR that I miss aside from free QT?
Rep trophies stacking in your inventory until you choose to use them, instead of being instantly consumed when you complete a daily/loot them. Also, while we're at it, dailies resetting from when you turned them in rather than having a set time they reset.

PETRA • The Lost Mandalorian
Petra Kelborn Octavius knows she is a Mandalorian, but her history is hazy. During the Great Galactic War, she was a young girl; her parents were members of the Crusader's Schism, wishing to fight on the side of the Republic, against Mandalore the Vindicated and the Empire. Petra's parents were killed during the Manda'lor's siege on the Schism; a small Republic squad showed up to support the Crusaders, but they were too late. Little Petra was taken in by Captain Nikolas Octavius and raised as his adoptive daughter.
Separated from her heritage but loyal to the Republic for saving her life, Petra struggles greatly with her sense of identity. She wishes to be and understand what it is to be Mandalorian, but her people's alignment with the Empire troubles her.
She joined the Republic Army as a way to both serve the nation that saved her and to try and understand her people's passion for war and glory. Petra only found herself struggling to uphold the good of the Republic against a war-hungry Chancellor, a galaxy she could not comprehend, and a sense of self at conflict with the heritage she wanted to connect with.
---
anyway here's my Trooper in the Ruhnuk Wanderer outfit, which I finally got after months of grinding the Ruhnuk dailies. I feel like it fits the character I've created for Petra. I also really love this outfit because it's distinctly Mandalorian but with its own flair. It isn't extremely armored, which, if you know me, I'm really not a fan of SWTOR's heavy armor sets.

Ruhnuk is kinda insane. Pretty hype to hang out with Shae again.
Ruhnuk is the new planet coming to SWTOR in Game Update 7.2. It features new story, dailies, a reputation track and hidden shenanigans.

Thoughts on the Swtor 7.2 livestream and slight spoilers for story I guess
7.2 Release date: Sometime in winter, so around middle to late december or early january if it gets delayed. Just guessing though, nothing concrete from them for now
Story: Basically what Shae told us what is going to happen in 7.1 so no new information here yet. Still trying to figure out how the Mandos tie in with Malgus apart from Sahar but guess I'll see
Ruhnuk looks cool and propably wont fry my toaster like Onderon so plus points for that. I can already see myself falling down the canyons though xD
Characters:
THE ORDO BROTHERS WOOP
AKAAVI AND TORIAN!!!! I REPEAT: AKAAVI AND TORIAN
(*hoping for Theron*)
Rhunuk again:
New daily area with fully voiced characters
Damn Shae has a cousin (smash)
LEGACY TITLES IN MANDO'A
(YOOO EIN BAGGER (Sorry my inner german got exited there))
The planet actually seems to be somewhat of a decent size. I think around the size of Ossus from what they're saying
PvP:
I have never really played with PvP but the changes sound good (can't really compare how better from the current system the changes are but chat seems to like it)
Gearing changes:
*cries in I have played this game for years and still don't really understand the gearing system* All I know is green arrow means better xD
(The guy talking kinda looks like Mark Forster....)
New UI:
Colour blind mode, noice
The new Minimap is so much better
OMG THE NEW MINI MAP @b4um3pfl4um3 You'll love the new mini map.
The mini map damn
Like IT CAN BE BIG BUT SMALL AND TRANSLUCENT ON YOUR SCREEN AHHHH
Love how you can customize what things you see in the utility bars
Finally a good destruct/delete window
Overall very impressed
Cartel market:
The weapons are cool (I need those for Ky'rii) NEW BLADES
Events:
*sighs in Life Day while sparkling with snowflakes from a snowball*
Glad for y'all but I don't like that event
Happy Wookie Hugging though, I will be hiding in my stronghold for those 5 weeks
That hat though xD
Overall it's going to be a pretty cool update. Very excited for more story and the new UI

Not me trying to figure out if my game bugged out on the Ruhnuk Daily Storyline, or
if it really ends that abruptly???
I am so confused right now. Lane and I go on this adventure together. We rescue a bunch of war droids (I'm sure Grandpa Revan will forgive us for saving an endangered... droid species he tried to wipe out??)
She tells me "Oh hey, this little droid might be your size" (excuse me Lane Viszla, we are the same height missy), and that she just needs to get it back to base. And then the cutscene ends, I get an achievement... but no cutscene? AND NO BABY BASILISK DROID.
"We'll meet you there," Lane says.
Tumblr media
Fade to black.
Tumblr media
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. THE END I GUESS.
I have been misled. Bamboozled.
Or I somehow broke the game??
I remain in confusion. And hope that maybe I'll finally get 7.2 mail call.

Completed Ruhnuk story. Datacron achieved. \o
After two months of waiting for Ruhnuk to be less crowded and got a new gaming rig, I finally got round to doing 7.2 story. I tried it on Ania impside but I got very frustrated at how tedious the enemies were and devs made it very difficult for tech classes. I did the story again on repside and Force user classes have an easier time. idk if it because of the 330-336 gearing or not.
I feel devs deliberately nerfed tech classes in 7.0 expansion. But other than that, the story was ok, it's not wowing me over because I haven't been a huge Mandalorian fan. Also, Shae was a badass and I love her.
I do think Ri'ken is going to backstab/betray his sister. Sa'har is very conflicted about the whole thing since you confronted her. But I have to wait and see.
Anyways, I did my dailies, relic hunt quest and collected datacron. Tomorrow, I'll work on gathering codex then focus on levelling my Zabrak Marr through story and create Eleena's family via Yuthura/Elysia Shan's bloodline. :)

SWTOR 7.3 Feedback
Non-spoilery stuff first
No technical glitches that I experienced on two playthroughs on Pubside.  Minus one or two moments with Odessen NPCs wandering around, nothing broke the game or immersion.  All the quests worked for credit; I had the weekly for Ruhnuk not work the time round, so this was nice.
I am aware that there are some financial changes they’re trying to patch back.  Basically, too much is being charged between trades with other players directly and when mailing to alts.  Also!  There is now a 30-day cooldown period between joining a guild and being able to access the guild bank. So get those alts in sooner rather than later, especially if you plan on raiding/doing group stuff with them.
On the Gunslingers and Snipers you now have a 2% per 3 seconds passive heal while in cover  -- level 64 option.  This is a big deal for survivability for these two classes.  I ran dailies and set my companion to DPS.  I had to pause and heal the comp after combat, not myself.   No more glass cannon, but this might be nerfed soon, since it’s a little op.  I’m going to have fun with it while I can.
If you love the Mantellian Privateer or Mira’s Armor from KOTOR II but can’t afford either on Cartel Market, good news:  the Mira set from Bounty Association (the event that comes around every 1-2 months) is now unlockable in collections.  So if you have a Mando char that goes hard on Bounty week, you now have a new cert sink + unlock with Cartel Points for the whole account.  There are some subtle differences in the outfits for the discerning Space Barbie player.
The Date Nights don’t happen in this patch; I would guess it will probably be activated during Night Life in July. Speculation on my part, though
Non-Spoilery Plot Stuff:  A lot of characters that we had the previous option to kill are present in this patch.  This really gives me hope for future content; I previously complained that Bioware was writing to the deadest version of the game (where they assume everyone is dead and only work with Lana).  We got A LOT of coverage with ‘optional’ characters, so this does give me hope for the future writing: assume everyone is alive, and some people get less content.  I’ll talk about what that means later for this patch.
Onward to spoilery stuff.
Torian does get an Alliance alert, which his ba’vodu Eva answered; this is unromanced I feel good about the Torian piece I just reblogged, because it seems consistent with what we see here.  Torian thought the drama over his father was over, the shame was done, the name redeemed -- and there is all is, resurrected from the dead.  Even more content with our neighborhood Mando really does make me want equivalent content with Vette; given that (shitty) decision was almost 7 years ago now and we JUST got a storyline with payoff for that choice, Vette needs some love now, romantic or platonic, beyond Date Night.
The only downside to letting Torian live at the moment, especially if you’re a smug or bh, is that you lose quality screen time with Akaavi Spar on Ruhnuk. She comes to your rescue in the final fight.  I also feel as if this scene should have been back with the 6.2 content drop, when the banner is first stolen, but it does work here as well, with the burning of it compounding all of Torian’s feelings about his history.
While Eva does hate that burnt tater thot, the content for Arcann was really good.  I actively wonder if they are pulling things from the aborted third KotXX expansion.  THIS is the character development many of us wanted to see before romancing him: we wanted to see the realization of what he’d done, the desire to fix things, the acknowledgement it may never be enough for some people.  Ding Ding Ding!  I did view both versions of the Darth Nul investigation -- I killed him on DS Eva and let him live on my sunshine and Rainbows LS smug Dyo -- and the version with Arcann in it is so much better.  You also get an additional scene with him; romanced folks get a hug!
Like the Torian scene, this Arcann development probably should have been earlier in the plotline, but WAAAAY earlier -- like 6+ years.  I think before the romance trigger, most definitely, but at least by the time of Nathema, especially if the Commander takes any of his advice to heart regarding Theron.  I think this falls to fan fic writers to fix, in terms of char dev.
As I mentioned above, both of these guys are killable.  And they got some great content this patch.  The story feels better with both of them in it.
As for our dynamic duo, Lana and Theron do show up and play a vocal role with Shae in regard to the interrogation of Malgus.  Theron does get to call Shae out on her working with Malgus to sack Coruscant 2x years ago (I have no idea what year we’re in since COVID screwed everything up).  We also get wonderfully protective partners in Lana and Theron.  Theron makes a comment that the work among other “benefits” keep him young if you’ve romanced him -- poor Lana.  There is noticeable smoldering going on between him and the romanced PC.  Theron does provide significant dialogue content and reaction shots, even though he’s killable.  And of course you get a Theron letter, which alludes to Date Night.  In sum, I don’t think Theron was at all side-lined compared to Lana.
The one weak part of all this is the tenuous connection between the Voss and Malgus’s plans.  In part, it’s becacuse Sana Rae had to be on Voss and decided to kill a few birds with one stone (or one Commander).   It boils down to a vision in which the PC saves the galaxy again.  We do get the tidbit that if we outright kill Malgus, things happen faster, but ‘things’ are ‘inevitable.’  Some of the ‘mundane’ quests verge on the ridiculous, but Star Wars always stomps on character hubris when it can.
Did I enjoy going back to Voss?  Yup.  Did it make sense, given the nature of the Arcann content?  Yup; if you didn’t spare Arcann, this feels more contrived than if you did, in my opinion.  If I recall correctly, Voss was supposed to be visited in an earlier expansion but that was also canned.
The transition from Bioware to Broadsword may be bringing old things back to life to ‘finish’ the game -- or start a new beginning.  I remain optimistic.  I will say that the old story of Voss and the new story post Eternal Empire does spin together well.
Good patch, in my opinion, minus the issues with the economic system that are ongoing.

Made it through the first half of the Malgussy arc and Eight felt bad for Malgus for like, 3 minutes before he completed changed his mind when he started calling him a moron lol. (He also was unfortunately thinking about yielding and watching what he would do instead of stopping him right there because he was kind of entranced by his entrance. Lana definitely smacked the back of his head and told him to get his head out of the gutter). It was pretty entertaining watching him go "I don't wanna" the entire time while everyone remarked that he was being petty, but alas, our poor husky is dragged along on misadventures as usual.
Looks like they're starting to lean into more puzzles and movement fights in normal content for once, the Nul trap room was decently fun and Malgus doing the naruto run was incredibly unexpected. It's no FFXIV, but it's a good start.
Also made it through Ruhnuk and a few of the dailies and it's definitely the stronger half of the shared arcs; I haven't seen a cutscene that long in this game and the fight scenes were really good. That being said, Eight and Shae's dynamic kills me because I feel as if she went to the Alliance and went give me your best warriors so he had to go with her. As expected, Echani and Mandos mix like oil and water; Shae is way too aggressive and explosion-prone compared to his tactics while Eight was like what are you doing calm down jeez. He's the bold one in his line of work, but Mandalorians are a whole different level of bombastic. The only part they saw eye-to-eye was through honor; Shae mentioned he thought like a Mando and he definitely went "no, I'm just an Echani."
Got to flirt with Rass Ordo as well. I can see why people like him. He's kind of like if Jonas was a goofy Mando. Definitely gives off strong puppy dog vibes and smiles a lot; very cute compared to half of the brooding characters in this game. Eight likes him, but I don't think they'd go beyond a few dates and flirting on and off.

semi-coherent 7.2 thoughts roundup/screenshot dump/’fuck this was fun, look at my boy!!!!!’ (short of the dailies because I had to dart off to work, so that’s a later in the week event for me) below the cut (and in a wacky order because ????? lmao what’s chronology fuck it we ball (in what order can i find my screenshots)
(I love reading everyone’s reviews, it feels like comparing notes xD)
Tumblr media
honest to goodness think there’s some real competition for most satisfying kill option here. i deadass almost thought they weren’t going to give me the utter pleasure and i was going to be SO pissed, tyr was NOT takin’ more shit. my friend could confirm i was ready to jump this option the second it popped up, lmao.
Tumblr media
genuinely some of my favorite cutscene action in a hot minute. not just because i got to watch my favorite bestest boy kick ass, take names, and maybe get his ass kicked a bit in return along the way (yeah, I’m predictable, sue me), but because it was genuinely some fuckin cinematics. showdown on ruhnuk for sure! genuinely impressed with the amount of action condensed into this patch’s cutscenes.
the atmosphere of the arena. hundreds, maybe thousands of mandalorians preparing to watch shae and heta duke it out. watching shae with bated breath. someone mentioned prequels-level epicness in their post and i wholeheartedly agree. this felt like watching an epic star wars showdown unfold, complete with heroic star wars action music, lol.
Tumblr media
felt incredibly indulgently good to go scouting with shae. assess, infiltrate, eliminate, damn it’s almost like we’re back in intelligence for a change (tyr relishes it almost as much as shae relishes the hunt).
i’m also incredibly interested in their borderline opposition over objectives.
Tumblr media
just when he’s maybe getting somewhere in de-escalating the situation, shae gets impatient and they both lose whatever they were hoping to gain. shae gets snappy, tyr understandably doesn’t quite appreciate it, but they move on. he respects her authority on dealing with heta, but he isn’t excited about losing leads on the bigger picture issue - especially on one that’s probably cost him a few good nights of sleep like malgus, lmao.
sir ur eyes are very pretty nd i love u anyway
i was incredibly interested in the amount of path decisions to be made along the way. heta mentions a round-up of your methods which i was all for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
dot.exe has encountered an error. tyr, thankfully, doesn’t share my “issue” for powerful women xD. he’s happily married, thank you.
overall? i honestly feel SO FED. very seen, lmao. this was a LOT of fun to play through. glad to see everything sort of tying together by sa’har and ri’kan being here, makes its introduction feel a bit less jarring. i’m here for the ~vibes of something bigger playing out for these characters, pushing them together, putting them in opposition. no new big reveals about the whys or the hows, perhaps, but i feel like the insights into these other characters was worth it. and, again, the absolute cinematics of it all was REALLY damn good. ruhnuk looks beautiful, there was a lot more to it than i had been expecting, i am so far a big fan of the ui changes and map update that was VERY nice.
runs back to the front of the line my other characters, i’ll be looking forward to going through this ride all over again, lol.
and also maybe i just missed my boy a lot. i will always be happy to have a reason to see my boy. xD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this was also fucking golden i fucking love this as a running thing i fucking LOVE that rass was SO DAMN EXCITED and also that the shuttle crashes are a running gag and tyr and shae were both equally (un)amused i literally just. i loved this. this was great for me, lol.
glad to not have another patch of endless alliance meetings summarizing information, basically, too. i can’t entirely blame shae for wanting away from all the mandalore clan running, can i? xD
also shoutout to the very real fear i felt for a good five minutes that they’d given us torian and akavvi back only for me to IMMEDIATELY fuck that up with comm silence don’t FUCK WITH ME LIKE THAT that’s my BOY (it was, in fact, fine in the end, but HOOOO). i don’t trust them to not let me pull something like that, okay, that seemed completely possible at the time. but they didn’t. so it’s okay.

16, 18, 20 and 22 from SWTOR player asks? (I wanted to send those days ago, but my evil brain forgot to do the thing)
No worries. Thank you for the ask, Pauletta <3
16. Do you have a favorite Flashpoint or operation? A least favorite?
I enjoy Cademimu (especially on stealth with the appropriate crew skills to do the shortcuts and stuff), mostly for mocking the boss - “I fought in the war you piece of trash!” ok, and? I think Athiss and Red Reaper are pretty fun, not too difficult, more fun for me on a stealther. It's actually been a while since I've done too many flashpoints, because I've had some less-than-stellar groupfinder groups, but I'd love to get back into them if my computer can behave.
As far as operations, I’m always a slut for Dread Fortress/Dread Palace. Not just because of my unhealthy obsession with the Dread Masters, but also because I like the fights. They’re fun for me to heal (either HM, or if I’m solohealing SM with my guildmates and we do stupid shit), and I like dps-ing because I actually feel useful on all of the fights since I know them well and there aren’t places I get lost/confused (and because if we're doing a guild funrun, I get to do absolutely stupid shit and give the healer a heart attack). One day I’ll get my nim Brontes clears.
18. Which achievement(s) are you most proud of?
I was really proud of each of my HM Gods clears, even though I didn’t get to clear Izax with the rest of my team (the night before 7.0 dropped and I had to work the next morning, so I couldn’t stay on late to pull with them). I'm pretty proud of getting through the Tineback Tamer one on Ruhnuk today, even though it's a silly one, and relatively easy to do, since everything was conspiring against me to not get it lol.
20. What do you most often do while playing? (ex. PVP, FPs, quests, crafting, RP, etc.)
I mostly do dailies or catch some of my toons up on content. I’ve got a few baby toons that I can replay class stories on as well. I used to mostly do operations, but while my computer is being a potato, I'm not as comfortable joining pugs that I might suddenly disconnect from (and they'll think I ragequit) or being active on my prog team and holding them back while they wait for my computer to behave.
22. Of all the in-game events (Relics of the Gree, Rakghoul, Life Day, so on) which do you like the most, and which do you dislike?
Life Day is nice because you get to get hugs. I like Gree because Ilum is pretty (screw the Ilum pvp though, it brings out the worst toxicity in some players for some reason), and the Grey Secant stuff is fun - my guild used to do marathon runs of HM Xeno to try for the Red Sphere mount, but hasn't done it as much post-7.0. I dislike Rakghoul Week just because people are so annoying about it on Fleet sometimes, even though the event itself can be fun, and the dailies are easy enough (even if some of them are broken as hell).
