6 and 8 for the swtor player asks? 👀
SWTOR Player Asks Thanks for the asks, @sealeneee !
Do you primarily play Republic, Empire, or a mix of both sides? Is there a specific reason for this preference?
I play both, but I can't lie - the Empire stories tend to be more fun. Being evil is fun. Being light-side in an environment where everyone else is evil is also fun.
Name your top favorite companions (feel free to include reasons why).
Kira - Because she's Kira. 😍 Lana - Because she's an actual canon example of a Sith character with a complicated but consistent moral compass. Most other Sith in the game are classic evil "villains of the week" regardless of whether you're playing Empire or Republic. Teeseven - Because he's cute. 🥰
Thanks for the asks!

16, 18, 20 and 22 from SWTOR player asks? (I wanted to send those days ago, but my evil brain forgot to do the thing)
No worries. Thank you for the ask, Pauletta <3
16. Do you have a favorite Flashpoint or operation? A least favorite?
I enjoy Cademimu (especially on stealth with the appropriate crew skills to do the shortcuts and stuff), mostly for mocking the boss - “I fought in the war you piece of trash!” ok, and? I think Athiss and Red Reaper are pretty fun, not too difficult, more fun for me on a stealther. It's actually been a while since I've done too many flashpoints, because I've had some less-than-stellar groupfinder groups, but I'd love to get back into them if my computer can behave.
As far as operations, I’m always a slut for Dread Fortress/Dread Palace. Not just because of my unhealthy obsession with the Dread Masters, but also because I like the fights. They’re fun for me to heal (either HM, or if I’m solohealing SM with my guildmates and we do stupid shit), and I like dps-ing because I actually feel useful on all of the fights since I know them well and there aren’t places I get lost/confused (and because if we're doing a guild funrun, I get to do absolutely stupid shit and give the healer a heart attack). One day I’ll get my nim Brontes clears.
18. Which achievement(s) are you most proud of?
I was really proud of each of my HM Gods clears, even though I didn’t get to clear Izax with the rest of my team (the night before 7.0 dropped and I had to work the next morning, so I couldn’t stay on late to pull with them). I'm pretty proud of getting through the Tineback Tamer one on Ruhnuk today, even though it's a silly one, and relatively easy to do, since everything was conspiring against me to not get it lol.
20. What do you most often do while playing? (ex. PVP, FPs, quests, crafting, RP, etc.)
I mostly do dailies or catch some of my toons up on content. I’ve got a few baby toons that I can replay class stories on as well. I used to mostly do operations, but while my computer is being a potato, I'm not as comfortable joining pugs that I might suddenly disconnect from (and they'll think I ragequit) or being active on my prog team and holding them back while they wait for my computer to behave.
22. Of all the in-game events (Relics of the Gree, Rakghoul, Life Day, so on) which do you like the most, and which do you dislike?
Life Day is nice because you get to get hugs. I like Gree because Ilum is pretty (screw the Ilum pvp though, it brings out the worst toxicity in some players for some reason), and the Grey Secant stuff is fun - my guild used to do marathon runs of HM Xeno to try for the Red Sphere mount, but hasn't done it as much post-7.0. I dislike Rakghoul Week just because people are so annoying about it on Fleet sometimes, even though the event itself can be fun, and the dailies are easy enough (even if some of them are broken as hell).

7 & 8 for the swtor asks? :)
Saving this for after work was the correct choice (and also I overslept, oops >.>) bc bOY WERE WE BUSY. So thank you, this kept me a bit more sane, lol.
ask list here!
7. Which player voice actor is your favorite and your least favorite?
To probably no one who has seen an ounce of my content ever, I'd listen (and... have... by playing) to the Male Agent for hours. I think I'm up to 3 male agent ocs and the urge to make more? Constant. Inescapable. More than likely inevitable, tbh. I'm a glutton for the punishment of Imperial Agent story, apparently. Just leave me where I lie, there is no saving to be done.
Female Smuggler gets an honorable mention as well because I adore her. I adore the humor of smuggler. I adore the sass, the take no shit.
THEY HAVE THE RANGE!
Anyway, my least favorite is... probably either of the Jedi Knights, I think. Side by side, they don't feel as distinguishable from one another as some of the other classes. The job is done; I've played both at least through the class story and I wouldn't mind doing it again just looking at voice acting, but I feel like other classes have a bit more pop and variety. Or maybe I've just played my Knights too predictably akdfnlksdnflsdf.
8. Name your top favorite companions.
Oh man. Oh boy. How do I pick??? Y'know what, maybe I'll choose violence. Maybe I'll pick my favorite from every class. I've played them all. I could do that. (It's just as daunting to consider as it may be to read.)
Preface: I think my faves are largely story-based in my reasoning - I like their story, I like how they're engaged in the story, etc. Very rarely do I swap companions because of a felt need in gameplay given everyone's capability to do anything, but I have done so for story reasons.
Okay, I decided I'm insane enough to try to pick one from each, so since that's quite a list, find that beneath the cut:
We'll start with Agent, my beloved, and Vector. The Friend The Agent Needs. No more need be said. I want to hug them. I hope he's having a good day. One day, I'll do his romance, too. Dot stop playing male agents challenge. (I'm such a creature of habit.)
Bounty Hunter's a tough call because I found myself fond of practically the whole damn crew. Real found family vibe. Idk if I love one of them so much over the other as much as I just appreciate the crew's dynamic overall so, so much. The level of interaction and mingling with the crew just felt so much higher or hit so much harder than a lot of the others that I'd rank BH as a class story relatively high on my list solely for companion interactions.
For Sith Warrior, again, to little surprise if you've heard me open my mouth, Malavai Quinn. Ironically and slightly unironically my "he did nothing wrong" bastard. I'm, unfortunately, so incredibly attracted to this smart idiot of a man. The repression of feelings to explosion of passion and dedication in his romance is chef's kiss kind of shit. They're lying if they're trying to convince me that this man isn't a disaster bisexual. He's just. So insanely pretty. I'll forgive him even if I ever make a character that won't.
I think Talos is probably my favorite Inquisitor companion. Whoever said we were robbed because we don't have an Inquisitor x Talos romance in-game? You're so right. Dude has a cool name. Love this history nerd. He's so incredible. I am so pleased he was still being bright and bubbly on Elom. Miss him.
Trooper is hands down Elara. Constantly tip-tapping like a very excited, happy dog when I see I can talk to best girl. I love her story. Her romance is incredibly sweet. She's the single thing that got me through a 2nd Trooper playthrough.
Smuggler's another no competition in favor of Bowdarr. I want to give this Wookie so. many. hugs.
Kira Carsen for Jedi Knight. Again, no competition. The friendship is so, so sweet.
And Jedi Consular is a tough one to round out on. I have a lot of love for basically the whole crew, but I think I'll have to go with Qyzen for being bestie original MVP. I'm so glad we get to build a friendship with him because I don't think we get to see Trandoshans in quite this same light anywhere else in the game.
And also Theron Shan. I can't do this list without him. Sir, I'd die for you. Sometimes you're an idiot and I love you. Insert, after all, why shouldn't I romance Theron again meme here.
Honorable mention to Major Anri. I'm love her. If I have to fuck with her directly in saboteuring of the Empire, I'm going to feel SO many emotions. Keep me in your thoughts kan;fladnkfl;dsf.

swtor player asks
i answered 16 here :)
11. Which expansions did you like the most, and which ones did you dislike? i adore kotfe. it's like my comfort expansion. kotet is a close second tho bc we get arcann. i think lots was a let down for everyone and i like the other expansions too much to put anything else on the bottom of the list :/
19. Where can other players most commonly find you in game? when i'm not playing through the class stories for the tenth time, i'm vibing on odessen or the republic station.
24. Do you have a primary/preferred stronghold? the tatooine stronghold is stunning. i made it into a home for my mandalorian clan but i don't have the credits and i'm not very good at decorating so it's a little empty. i still love it tho

1, 10, 18, 21 for the swtor ask? --darth-bagel says hi, i saw your ask, sadly at 2 am so ill get it it now✨
[SWTOR Player Asks]
haha, thanks Bagel! 💚💜
1. How many characters do you have?
On just Star Forge, my main server, I've got 34. The others have anything from like 2, to 22 is my second-largest server. I don't play my non-SF ones much, though.
10. Favorite love interest?
Hmm... For vanilla, I think I have to say... Maybe Felix. I enjoyed his romance, but kinda bummed you don't get him til so late into the story. I also love Torian, but I think Felix wins for that cheek-kiss on Corellia I about died when he did that it was so sweet. However, I haven't done/finished many of the vanilla romances, so my pool to pick from is pretty small.
Expansions... I think I've gotta say Theron.
Of any of my OC/Canon ships, Lina/Felix and Xaerez/Theron are easily my favorites.
18. Which achievement(s) are you most proud of?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soloing master mode KOTFE/ET on a sniper is still one of my proudest achievements, and it was over a year ago, now akdl;jskl. Some of the fights were horrible without a 60sec stun, easy kiting, or good self-heals, which just makes me even prouder of it.
and Run for the Shadows final boss? Over four hours. I was running on sheer anger and stubbornness by the end of it and wanted to cry when the cutscene triggered to tell me I'd finally finally won. Like legit, I think I gasped out loud when I realized I'd finished the fight, alive, and could finally move on. imo that was the hardest fight in ALL of KOTFE/ET, and managing it by myself?
...never again, though. Probably.
21. Which player ship is your favorite?
Agent's, hands-down. It's such a beautiful ship, and definitely fits the vibe.
Bounty Hunter's comes in second, though. It looks lived in, and it's such a bizarre layout I love it haha. My main BH lovingly named hers the Rust Bucket and it's her baby.

25. Mind sharing some screenshots of your stronghold(s)?
Thank you for the ask @starknstarwars
Sadly, I haven't really touched Strongholds in a while. I don't earn nearly enough to buy cartel coins for decent decorations. I have four, but the Coruscant, Dromund, and Nar Shaddaa ones are empty. I do have a Yavin IV stronghold with a few things in it, tho.
It's...not really that good.

YES SWTOR BOUNTY CONTRACT WEEK IS COMING BACK IN TWO WEEKS.
MUST GRIND REPUTATION.
My Knight was CHEATED out of keeping the sleen she tamed in KotFE Chapter 12. She NEEDS the Desert Sleen mount. I don't care if it doesn't make sense for her to have it, she needs it. I have spoken. 😠

Thanks for the ask!
2. What is your favorite class and why? And/or list the player classes in order of most -> least favorite.
Honestly? Jedi Consular has been been my fav so far where I started a redux play through of my Main so I don't repeat my first blind play through where I made some choices I wasn't happy with. I'm honestly all about the Wise Healer slowly becoming more and more disillusioned the more the Consular class story goes on; Wanting to do good only to be just another pawn in just another war.
But I will say Sith Inquisitor quickly shot up the list to a very close second. Just everything about that class story really. Zash? I both love and hate her. Seeing her on Nathema the first time made me go feral. I'm totally not debating playing with the story beat of she didn't die then and will come back AGAIN later down the line... lol. That and the whole force ghost story bits, and the end of the class story? *(Chefs kiss)*
Least fav? Jedi Knight. The whole light vs dark side bits were waaay to ridged for my tastes. Yes Kira was like a little sister to my character, No that doesn't mean she's turning to the dark side.
6. Do you primarily play Republic, Empire, or a mix of both sides? Is there a specific reason for this preference?
Currently I mostly play the pub side only because most of my Cartel items/purchases are reedemed on Isadola (my main). I have been slowly leaning towards playing more of both as I dust off my Sith Inquisitor more and more. But I'm not gunna lie I love the Imp fleet a lot more, it's design is much more up my alley.
8. Name your top favorite companions (feel free to include reasons why).
Ohh, that's a bit of a list but I'll stick with my top 5. Top of the list is Lana hands down, She's Issie's better half among other things that would be too long to list here. Number 2 slot is HK-51, I've had him for less than a few weeks and I would already die for my assassin bot buddy. Next in number 3 & 4 is Nadia & Ashara, My fav force students that are borderline sisters to each of my mains. And number 5 is Khem Val easily, I love my big morose monster of a teddy bear. He reminds me a lot personality wise of my old cat. So yea.. I got quite attached to him.
9. How about your least favorite companions?
Doc. Hands down, no list. Dude does not take "no" for an answer. Kira was close to killing him? Girl would have to get in line behind me as I throw his ass out the air lock. At least Tharan took the hint when you shoot him down, but fuck does Doc just not let it go if you're playing a female jedi. Not to mention he's so fucking full of himself. I could rant all day about this, and no shame to those that do like him, but Doc just rubbed me in all the wrong ways and there was no way I could get rid of him. He made a tedious playthrough like I was pulling teeth.
15. Show us your main(s)!
You mean fav swtor OCs/ my mains? Hell yeah!
First we have Isadola Ardeen Shir (Or known as Issie by those closest to her); Jedi Consular, Miraluka.
Tumblr media
This girl can hide so much trauma in her.
I've been trying to write more stuff for her considering she's the Character I have almost literally all my time/progress on. I feel I need to do her backstory justice.
Now my other main, Or in Issie's case the other side of the mirror-
We have the Sith AU Issie, otherwise known as Atteia Ulla Shir, Sith Inquisitor.
Tumblr media
Small changes in their shared backstory resulted in her becoming Sith instead. In this timeline she lost her original name, and was given another.
In some sense they are both the same person and different people. And if you forced them to meet, they would probably try to kill each other over who suffered more in what little of their pasts that they share, but would be stuck in a stalemate because they are both on the same power level as the other.
Best quote I can borrow for these two is from Bioshock Infinite: "Constants and Variables". These two are the almost literal embodiment of that quote.

How do open world games manage to feel so big? When you sit and look at them they're usually just a couple km per side, but they feel like a whole country at times. What're the tricks?
There's a lot of small details and choices that combine together to make a world feel big. Each small thing isn't enough to do it on its own, but with enough details working together the player will feel that sense of "bigness". Most of these details are rules and expectations that humans have subconsciously internalized, things that we don't necessarily think about but have taken as true.
Tumblr media
The most common detail of "bigness" is visible size. Most areas in video games are already built larger than they would be for a real person of that size. Having buildings that are scaled larger than normal in video games contributes to a sense of grandeur. The SWTOR Jedi Temple on Tython, for example, is apparently built for giants. There's no way that normal-sized humanoids could live or operate comfortably in a space that large, but the purpose isn't a real living space, it's to convey a sense of enormity and grandeur to the players who enter that space.
Tumblr media
The amount of time it takes to navigate the area also contributes to the sense of how large a place is. If you think about traveling in real life, the metric of travel time is the most commonly used to determine how far away something is. This means that making travel time take longer actually makes something feel bigger, because our brains tell us "the longer it takes to get there means the further away it is", even if it isn't actually that far away. Look at how long it takes the player to approach the Colossus in this animation. It makes the colossus feel so much bigger because it takes so much longer to reach it.
Tumblr media
We also often use tricks like forced perspective in certain places in order to make things feel bigger. If we have unreachable areas (e.g. cliffsides, mountain faces, etc.) that are still visible, we can use visual tricks to fool our brains into thinking things are further away or larger than they actually are. Without a reference point that can break the illusion, our minds will fill in the gaps by constructing its own consistent world view - that castle looks this big, so it must be this far away. The illusion above is only broken because we know roughly how tall a human is, so either the humans are giant or the buildings are tiny.
Tumblr media
These various tricks (plus others that I haven't talked about) work to stitch a cohesive experience together in the player's mind. Your brain is being shown many things that have all subconsciously meant "big" to it before, so it assumes that its internal rules are still correct and the thing is big.

I really don’t want swtor to shut down it’s the only eu thing that’s active we have left
I knew these asks were going to start coming in.
So for those who haven't heard, it was reported, and then later confirmed by Keith Kanneg on the forums, that EA is "selling" SWTOR to another developer, Broadsword. For those who want to read the article discussing it, you can read here: https://www.ign.com/articles/star-wars-the-old-republic-development-third-party-bioware
TL;DR -- It's not shutting down. The servers are going to stay active for a while
There's a few points to note here:
If I understand things correctly, EA actually owns Broadsword. So EA is in fact not actually offloading a property, I think what's actually happening is BioWare Austin itself is being divvied out and would not be surprised to see if that branch is shut down
At least half of the SWTOR dev team is part of this move, so the key things to keep an eye on is which members of the dev team are moving. If the narrative staff is kept intact, then we have more story ahead of us beyond what's been written, and they've confirmed we're getting 7.3, 7.3.1, and 7.4. It's important to note that their production timeline is generally a year out from things being written, so story-wise, if they have narrative staff, we'll likely still have some story drops ahead of us
SWTOR is profitable (it hit over $1 billion in profit several years ago), and I will admit I don't have the best understanding of video game finances, but my impresion it was far into the black and maybe not an enromous cash cow, but a decent consistent revenue stream. EA is a publisher that is about profits, so as long as the game is profitable, even if there's not new story drops, the game will stay online
Disney has seemingly taken a recent interest in SWTOR after mostly ignoring it after its acquisition of Star Wars, even going so far as to finally acknowledge the general KOTOR/SWTOR era in their presentations last year at Celebration. Does this ultimately mean anything? I don't know, but SWTOR is one of the longest running current properties with a stable player base. They're just as interested in profit as EA. Probably another indicator that the game will keep running for a while.
Other properties that Broadsword operates, such as Dark Age of Camelot and Ultima Online, are old games. Ultima Online was released in 1997, and the servers are still active. So like, I think regardless of what happens in regards of the story, we're not losing the ability to log in and play the game
Long term subscriptions - I remember reading, and forgive me, because I've long forgotten the source, that a key indicator if the servers are going offline is to also keep an eye on the six-month subscription option. Basically, if suddenly the only option for subs goes down to one month, that's when to worry about being able to actually play the game.
This is probably not about SWTOR, but BioWare as a whole. It seems there's a leadership issue at the main Alberta office that's causing issues. This is likely an Anthem issue all over again, but Anthem this time happens to be the Mass Effect and Dragon Age properties. Unfortunately, BioWare Austin looks like it's going to suffer the consequences of that, even though they've been running a tight ship overall compared to the rest of the branches. I feel for them. This sucks.
Now I'm not an oracle, I have no idea if this is ultimately a good or bad thing for the game itself. There's a lot of evidence for both sides of the coin, so right now the best thing is to wait and see. We at least have the promise of the next two patches. Let's focus on enjoying that, and celebrating what we love about our silly space game.
If you love the game, keep playing it. Spend money on it, and keep it profitable and it will stay around. Be kind and supportive of the devs, who regardless of how this shakes out, are going through a major transition. But immediately decrying an active game's death and going into doom and gloom is not going to help things.
Will we get more story beyond 7.4? I do not know one way or the other. I hope we do, but it's hard to say for certain on that front. But I do believe we'll still have our toons and be able to replay all of the released content for quite a while to come. Again, for now I'm just going to enjoy my favorite game, and support it as long as I have it. Even if this inevitably means it's going to change.

27 and 16 for the SWTOR Player Asks
SWTOR Player Asks Thank you @khrushchevs-corn-farm / @legends-chauvinist !
If you could make any current NPC a player companion, who would you pick? Ohhhh… there are a bunch. I definitely wish Hollow Voice from the Jedi Consular story could have been a companion, but that might have seemed redundant game-play wise given you already have Qyzen.
I'll throw out a few others - Thana Vesh, Bengel Morr and Leeha Narezz.
Do you have a favorite Flashpoint or operation? A least favorite?
I'm one of those people who used to grind Hammer Station endlessly to get my gear to 306 back in the day. So on the one hand I hate it - because I've seen it too much - and I like it - because I actually know what I'm doing. (I don't know what I'm doing in most of the Operations / Flashpoints.)
Thanks for the asks!

2. What is your favorite class and why? And/or list the player classes in order of most -> least favorite
Agent is probably my favorite. I’ve always enjoyed operative more than any other spec, so before combat styles was a thing, that partially influenced my love of the class. But I also enjoy the class story a lot. I like the major antagonists of the three chapters, I like the Agent’s npcs, I like the different ways I’ve seen people take their Agents’ stories… just love it all around. In terms of origin story ranking?
Agent - Consular - Smuggler - Sith Inquisitor - Bounty Hunter - Sith Warrior - Jedi Knight/Trooper (my ranking changes a lot, but I think Agent is always at the top, Knight/Trooper is always at the bottom. Depends on what characters I’m currently playing, I guess).
4. What is your favorite player combat ability?
I like most of the stabbing abilities on operative (I am completely normal about operative), especially Lethal Strike on Lethality and Veiled Strike on Concealment - they have great sound effects and a very satisfying slicing motion that I can pretty viscerally feel when my toons do them (yes, Laceration, Lethal Strike, and Veiled Strike are all very similar in terms of the animation, but there are subtle differences to the arm movement and to the snkkt-squelch knife noise, and I love them all). Also a fan of the sound effects on Scoundrel’s Sucker Punch, Bludgeon, Dirty Kick… all of the ones where you just realize that you brought a gun to a laser sword fight (or a giant robot fight) and figure, what the hell, might as well just start punching things until they keel over.
12. Do you have a preferred mount/speeder? Is there one you want, but don’t own yet?
I mostly prefer animal mounts, just because I like their look better than the vehicle mounts. I like the kybucks and orokeets. I have a few mounts that are somewhat character-specific, like a Crystalcrag Monolith, a Kingpin’s Rancor, the other Kingpin mount… some kind of cat?, a couple of the seasons mounts… But when I find a mount I like, I tend to unlock it for my whole legacy so all of my toons can enjoy it and I just use whatever “activate random mount” gives me. The few exceptions to my animal preference are the Merim Dart that I have for Raz (because of the meep meep that it does when you mount up), one that I can't remember the name of but it was a Star Fortress drop for Mena and I thought it looked pretty swanky for her, and a Vectron that I have for Zhorrid because I don't really think she would like animals?

hello!
are you tired of swtor guilds that are just "okay with you being queer" or "aren't racist" but you can tell someone there probably is?
this is an interest check for a queer+poc friendly Star Forge guild! as in honest to god run by qpoc, queer folks, and poc. no more of the underlying discomfort of "i have to assume everyone is white/cishet in this guild!"
(the short backstory is i sorta inherited a pub+imp guild a while back, and got blessings from the previous owners to do whatever the heck i want with them)
swtor specific benefits include:
alt toon parking
no inactivity limits
nar shaddaa pub sh, tattoine imp sh
anywhere from 5-10% xp bonus depending on faction
I'm hoping this would be a good guild for group finding, group content with non-randos, and potential raid groups as well!
Edit: did i mention everyone would probably be neurodivergent as hell
EDIT: <Stim Please> and <Down With Sith Bus> is now active, and so's the discord server! Please DM me or send me an ask for the discord invite, or to coordinate guild invites!

swtor player asks
5. Favorite advanced class and discipline? i think it's a tie between the sith juggernaut and the jedi shadow, specifically their tank proficiencies. imo, the juggernaut feels the most tanky out of all the classes and i love the animations for the shadow. i am just now realizing this is the only game where i pick tank over healer every time lol.
16. Do you have a favorite Flashpoint or operation? A least favorite? temple of sacrifice has a special place in my heart because it was the first operation i ever did and i had a great time doing it with my guildmates. i don't think i have a least favorite op or flashpoint, but i've never done gods from the machine.
