I wanted to post just these two images to focus on how smart and touching it was to foreshadow the importance of water. This is the opening shot, and the sight and sound of the waves lapping, the modulation of it, would be repeated in almost the end of the film during the iconic, scary and heartrending beach scene. Watching all 1001 before I die is slightly complicated by new films being added (and old ones dropped). However, having now watched Capernaum I agree it's a worthy addition, in fact I think it's my favourite non-english film of 2018, above even Cold War and Roma.
