On the weekend, Renee took Robbie out to take his mind off things. He felt more comfortable if Jayleen was there, so Renee came along with Vincent! Visiting the Bloom Garden & Cafe was a nice escape from the busy city and they enjoyed the splendid views! But Renee and Vincent started talking about their jobs; something Robbie didn't want to hear. He tried to block out their voices, but all he heard was their success, making him feel like even more of a failure...
Then he heard enough. He made some snide remarks about their careers targeting Vincent's success and left to get some space. Renee should have known better about Robbie's work situation and went to check on him, "I'm sorry Robbie, we should've stopped." She let him vent his frustrations, listening and offering some big sister advice.
"There's one more thing...I'm a bit embarrassed to say this," Robbie admitted and talked about how he was intimidated by Vincent. "Oh, Robbie," Renee finally understood his perspective.
"Sorry, I shouldn't have said all that to you," Robbie apologised to Vincent. "Hey, it's ok. I get what you're going through, I've been there too," he managed a small smile, "You remind me of myself...when I was at the lowest point of my life." Robbie doesn't know much about Vincent or his past: all he thinks about is how he is now and how perfect his life seemed. His train of thought was interrupted by a gentle touch, "If you ever want to talk about it, I'll be here for you."

It was her brother. Robbie has been quite absent in his sister's life. Since working as a researcher at a pharmaceutical company, he has been very fixated on his job. He stood there awkwardly, seeing Vincent in person for the first time and then noticed Renee's baby bump. "You're pregnant," he looked like he was about to cry, realising how much time had passed. Their relationship hadn't been the best and he avoided her texts as he struggled to communicate honestly; afraid of facing her. He didn't want to admit his faults or appear as weak in front of Renee; work hadn't been going well.
"We're expecting twin boys," Renee smiled. "How are you doing Robbie? How is work?" she replied as if they never had a difficult dynamic. Suddenly he missed his sister so much and wanted to tell her everything about his burnout. "Renee I missed you," he blurted out. Hopefully, this will be the start of rebuilding their relationship ❤️🩹

Today was Robbie's job interview for a big pharmaceutical company. He was anxious and was practicing to get him in the right mindset when someone called his name. Jayleen. "W-What do you want? You're wasting my time," he sighed, voice shaking slightly from the nerves. "I'm here to wish you-" Jayleen replied when he cut her off.
"I can't talk. I'm gonna be late," Robbie said and walked off. Not even a hello or a see you later. She thought they grew closer over uni and came to cheer him on his job interview.

Robbie knew he fucked up. No, not with the job interview, he aced that! But with Jayleen. How could he be so rude to her? He tried calling and of course, she didn't pick up. When he saw her, he gave her the biggest hug, but announced without thinking, "Jayleen, I got the job!" Jayleen couldn't help but smile at his excitement. He then awkwardly let go. "I'm so sorry. I'm such a fucking asshole. I guess nerves got the better of me," he explained apologetically, "You don't deserve me as a friend-" and that's when she kissed him.
"I still don't get you after all these years, but I know you're a good person at heart," Jayleen smiled and when she looked up, Robbie was all red in the face. He's shy when it comes to love…just like his Dad.

What has Robbie been up to these days? Honestly, he'd rather me not share anything, judging from his face here. Well, he is studying biology at Foxbury and he's made the most unlikely of friends. Remember Jayleen from Sulani? She is studying at Foxbury too! Turns out that knowing someone from home at campus, makes uni less daunting for him. He also met Zeke (by @tulipsimss) who he stumbled across in San Myshuno one day, strumming Robbie's favourite tunes! Robbie and Jayleen ended up being the biggest supporters of Zeke and hung out whenever they were all free!

Renee: I need to speak to you.
Robbie: [sighs] What do you want? Spit it out here.
Renee: Alone.
Renee: Stay away from Keon.
Robbie: Why should I do that? [under his breath] My god you're so fucking annoying.
Renee: [debating whether to tell him what happened] He's trouble.
Robbie: I don't know what history you two have or how you even know him, but at least Keon treats me like someone. Not invisible like you do to me at school.
Renee: Why can't you listen to me for once? I'm telling you the truth-
Robbie: When things go well, you come and ruin it. But do you know how humiliating it was starting high school and getting ignored by your sister? Oh you don't want to be related to the loser with no friends.
Renee: [quietly then loses it] No, it's not like that, that's not fucking important right now-
Robbie: How your reputation as top student would fall if you talked to me? How people pity you for having a brother with issues?
Renee: [Renee has never been this angry] Robbie, shut up and listen to me.
Robbie: Get lost. I don't wanna hear it.
...
I know I didn't show any of their interactions at school or focus much on Robbie having a hard time, but everything he said is true: Renee has not been the most supportive big sister. Being overshadowed by her all his life, pressure from his Dad as a kid, favouritism, low confidence, everything adds up to how he is now. And it really is a shame he doesn't believe Renee.
