Have you ever had a really bad haircut? I havenā€™t had any truly awful ones. The only time I feltĀ ā€˜mehā€™ about a haircut was when I went to the salon on my own and told the hairdresser what I wanted myself. I was never good at that kind of stuff, and always prefer being with someone so they can tell me if Iā€™m headed somewhere good or otherwise. Did you ever order any clothes from the Alloy catalogue? Iā€™ve never heard of that. What brand, color, and type is your favorite eyeliner? Iā€™ve only ever used eyeliner at one point in my life and Iā€™ve forgotten every detail about it. It was black, though. Do you wear eyeliner? I used to. I wanted to look nice post-breakup, so I learned how to do makeup to feel good about myself. Was there ever a time in your life when you couldn't cry? I guess when I have HAD to cry in the past, as in for a skit, I couldnā€™t. But I can be triggered and cry very easily otherwise.
What's your favorite type of yogurt? I hate yogurt, I hate everything thatā€™s sour (except for sour tapes, but even those I can only handle at a certain level of sourness haha). What posters did you have on your wall as a teenager? Wrestling. My mom took them down for no reason eventually, even though I loved having them up on my wall. What are your favorite type of calendars? I mean I donā€™t obsess over calendars enough to have a favorite type? so a digital one on my phone and laptop is fine with me. I do sometimes wish I was rich enough just to be able to spend on those novelty calendars with Audrey Hepburn photos and Monet paintings in every month, though. Do you have a full-length mirror? I used to but it got transferred to my sisterā€™s room. I donā€™t mind it though; I donā€™t use mirrors all that much. When was the last time you bought stamps? Elementary school, probably. Do you have any overdue library books right now? HAH, yes I do actually. It was a book I needed to do a Powerpoint on, and I completely forgot that its due date was on the 4th. The fee is like ā‚±2/day so Iā€™ll have to pay aroundĀ ā‚±8 toĀ ā‚±10 by next week, depending on when Iā€™ll feel like returning the book. How often do you do laundry? I donā€™t; my mom prefers to do it herself. Do you have a piggy bank? Maybe as a kid, but I never took it seriously because I didnā€™t sit well with the fact that I couldnā€™t see the money Iā€™ve been saving. Iā€™ve stuck with a good old wallet ever since, just so I can know my progress. Do you remember your locker combinations from high school? I donā€™t, actually. I wonder what numbers I used to secure my locks :o What's your favorite DIY crafts youtube channel? Arenā€™t a lot of those misleading and downright fake? Could you spend hours on pinterest? Iā€™ve never spent more than five minutes at one time on that website/app. Do you own plaid pants? Nah, itā€™s not really my style. Have you ever had to wear a school uniform? I had to wear my schoolā€™s uniform for 14 straight years. All I ever wore Monday through Friday for that span of time. What was your high school's mascot? We donā€™t have a mascot; we just have school colors. What were your high school's team colors? Gold, white, blue. Who were your best friends in high school? Angela, Gabie, Athenna, and Sofie. Others I was close with were Chelsea, Kaira, and Fern. Who was your first boyfriend or girlfriend? Gab. Have you ever been to Chicago? Nope but itā€™s a dream. If yes, what do you like best about it? The FOOD, the culture, the museums. Have you ever stayed in a hostel? Nope, never been. Would you rather sleep on the top bunk or bottom bunk? Bottom. I wouldnā€™t like sleeping somewhere that felt unnatural, and lying down way high from the floor is definitely one of those things. Do you love camping? Iā€™ve never tried, so I donā€™t know. Would you rather sleep in a tent or under the stars? Lie under the stars for as long as I can, then pass out in a tent. What insects are you afraid of? Cockroaches. Have you ever had a secret admirer that left you notes? I havenā€™t. Are you close with your cousins? I have a good relationship with most of my cousins, momā€™s side; butĀ Iā€™m especially close with my eldest cousin, who I essentially view as my older brother. Iā€™m so-so with cousins on my dadā€™s side - we were very close as kids, but they moved further to the south and I never really get to see them anymore, so we grew more shy as the years passed.Ā  Are you close to any aunts or uncles? I love my momā€™s cousins; theyā€™re all younger than her and theyā€™re mostly late Gen X-ers so theyā€™re more hip and cool hahaha. I wouldnā€™t say weā€™re close but they are definitely much easier to talk to than other older relatives. Are you close to your grandparents? I seldom get to see my paternal grandparents because they live with the ^ same cousins Iā€™ve since grown quite distant from, so I wouldnā€™t say Iā€™m close to them but of course I love them all the same. I was very close with my maternal grandfather when he was still alive as I always knew what to do to make him laugh; and I am also crazy for my maternal grandmother, although in the last few years sheā€™s been all about Jesus so sometimes it gets a little draining hearing about how I should always pray and that ā€œGod can answer all [my] problems.ā€ Still love her loads, though. Who betrayed your trust? A friend did, many years ago. Who was your first best friend (apart from a sibling)? Bold of you to assume a sibling was my first best friend, because youā€™re wrong lol. Iā€™d consider this girl we calle Kaye the first one; we were class number buddies in Kinder 1 (I was 4, she was 5) so we got close quickly. She changed schools by Grade 1 and I havenā€™t talked to her since, but I still remember her fondly. What was your favorite thing to do at sleepovers when you were younger? I was never allowed at sleepovers when I was a kid. What kind of popcorn is your favorite? Sweet-flavored ones. I could never take dry-ass plain/salted popcorn. It has to be something like salted caramel or parmesan. Does your town have a big fountain in it? If we do have one, Iā€™ve never seen it. But Iā€™m pretty sure we donā€™t. What is your town known for? For being on a mountain and being ridiculously hard to get to because 1) of its winding, accident-prone roads, and 2) ITā€™S ON A MOUNTAIN. I live in the area of Antipolo just before you start to go up, so I donā€™t get offended much by the complaints of everyone else; but Iā€™m in solidarity nonetheless with the ~mountain-dwellers~ just because I used to go to school in upper Antipolo. Do you currently live in the city you grew up in? I mostly grew up in Antipolo, so yes I still live here. I did live in Manila in my early childhood but that time was much shorter than the time Iā€™ve spent in my current city. What's one way in which you're behind the times? I hate Minecraft and I hate Fortnite even more. What's one way in which you're still a child? I love coloring books :) What's one way in which you're old? I have a bad back. Do you feel old or young? Or do you feel both at different times? Definitely feel a bit of both, depending on my mood. The perfect example could be that I can be annoyed seeing younger kids make so much noise, but the next day I can be exactly like those kids making a bunch of noise with my friends. How old are you? I am 21. Do you know what you want to do for your next birthday? No, not yet. Quite early to think about at this point, really. If yes, what is it? A private dinner would already sound perfect. What is the last new thing you discovered that was really good? Vaping. I mean donā€™t try it if you havenā€™t already, but yeah. What would be the best surprise you could receive right now? Tbh if my mom came home carrying a box of Yellow Cab pizza. AKA something that would NEVER happen; she snobs Yellow Cab cos she thinks theyā€™re too expensive for pizza. Do you usually forgive when someone hurts your or try to get revenge? I get my revenge, subtly. Were there any subjects in school that were really easy for you? Our subject Language, which was mandatory back in elementary school, was literally basic English grammar. Not everyone in my former school spoke fluent English so a lot of them werenā€™t all that good at the subject; but for people like me who had a solid grasp of English and read a lot to begin with, the class was basically a breather from the other more difficult classes. If so, what? ^ I already told ya all about it. Did you ever skip a grade or get held back a grade? Skipping grades isnā€™t a thing in my former school which is honestly a good thing for me cos it would have bred a lot of competition. But students would have to repeat a level if their grades showed that they had to; I wasnā€™t one of them. What time of day were you born? 9:11 in the evening. What is the best hairstyle you've ever had? I loved my layered hair like 10 years ago. It was probably the only time I did something to my hair that wasnā€™t just a trim, so I enjoyed that experience. I also liked cutting my hair way, way too short last year; it was a bold move but I liked how it look, as did everyone else. Do you think you look better with dyed hair or natural hair? Iā€™ve never tried dyeing my hair so I wouldnā€™t know. Do you think your look better with curly hair or straight hair? Curly, I think. Do you have bangs? I have baby bangs but theyā€™re just stubborn hair standing around my head lmao but no I donā€™t have actual bangs. Do you think you look better with bangs or without? I havenā€™t tried getting bangs as an adult. I did look cute with them as a toddler though :( Do you think you look better with long hair or short? Long. What's your favorite rock band? Paramore, if they still count. Who's your favorite country singer? None. Do you ever listen to Celtic music? No. Do you listen to Hillsong? No. Did you try the unicorn frappuccino, and if yes, were you a fan? No I never tried it. Have you ever won a contest? I won a school quiz bee and an essay writing contest before, but I wouldnā€™t call the latter legitimate. It was just a writing contest about wrestling held by a local TV station and the three best entries got to win WWE t-shirts haha. Have you ever wanted to be a model, actress, singer, or dancer? I wanted to be a model when I was like 12. No fucking clue what was going through my head at the time. When you look at your baby pictures, do you recognize yourself? Sure. Has your hair color changed since you were a toddler? Nope. Do you wear matching socks? Yes. How many drawers does your dresser have? Three. Do you own an American flag shirt? No thanks. Do you own a British flag shirt? I donā€™t. The Union Jack got overused by 2011 Tumblr, honestly. Do you have a seashell collection? I donā€™t. Arenā€™t we prohibited from getting those from beaches? Thatā€™s the case in the Philippines, anyway. Do you have a rock collection? I do not. Do you decorate for Halloween? We didnā€™t decorate the house but I celebrated it with friends this year. What is your favorite thing to do in the pool? Float around and relax. Flamingos or pineapples? ??? Flamingos, I guess? Cacti or seashells? Seashells. Maple tree or palm tree? Palm tree. Dreamcatcher or wind chimes? Dreamcatchers! Have you ever taken a picture at the perfect moment? I probably have at few points. Do you have a crush right now? Yes. What color was your first car? My first and current car is white. Was your first car used or new? Iā€™m actually not sure. It was my dad who purchased it. Do you have a car now? Yep. What color(s) eyeshadow do you wear the most? I never wear any.

Btw, for those whoā€™ve been asking, just a quick update on the jaw sitch:
I had that last appointment on Thursday and it went really, even surprisingly well? Like, better news than even sheā€™d hoped for. We were crossing our fingers that the last CT scan (the one to map exact dimensions weā€™d need the prosthetic to be) would match up with a premade prosthetic so we wouldnā€™t have to wait to order a custom made and could jump straight to trying to expedite the surgery.Ā
Turns out I donā€™t actually need a prosthetic at all. The top of my jawbone, the condyle, which everyone thought was completely destroyed from all the previous scans and was part of what had to be replaced, its actually still there and largely intact. It wasnā€™t snapped off or eroded away like theyā€™d been thinking, it actually just got bent enough at the top of it that somehow it slipped and got shoved up....underneath my skull, or behind my skull, Iā€™m honestly not sure what the right word is to describe it, because of the angles/dimensions involved. The reason they could only see it with this last scan and not any of the others is this last scan like....looked through the back of my skull essentially, and showed the inside curvature of the side of the skull thatā€™s where all the Drama is. And thatā€™s where they saw, oh hey, heā€™s still got an intact condyle, its just been stuck inside/under/behind his skull this whole time instead of resting in the joint where its supposed to be and allowing for proper opening and closing. And as it got worse and worse this past year and a half, it wasnā€™t because I was constantly grinding down on what was left of the bone and wearing it more and more away....it was that it was actually constantly shoving up more inside my skull, day by day. So, still not fun, just a different kind of suck than they thought, lol.
Iā€™m actually a little bit miffed by the reveal, not gonna lie, because like....it literally is EXACTLY what Iā€™d been saying it felt like the problem was to me. For a year and a half. From the very start. From the very first time I went to the ER after it first snapped or slipped out of place or whateverthefuck, the very first doctor I met with, I literally described it as feeling like my jawbone got stuck up under or behind my skull and couldnt get loose or descend properly. And they were like nah, thatā€™s not a thing, must be TMJ. And literally every other doctor I went to since then (including this one), I told each and every one of them the same exact thing but noooooooooo, why listen to the dude whose body it literally is lol why would he know what it feels like is the problem. Lmao. Ah well. Doesnā€™t change anything at this point and not worth souring my relationship with this doctor since at least sheā€™s getting results for me and is easy enough to work with and way better than that other one I was going to before. But still. Annoying. It gives me no pleasure to be likeĀ ā€˜ugh I was right, I told you allā€™ because like, lol I donā€™t need the fucking ego boost, I would have much rather taken theĀ ā€˜get started fixing all this a year earlier than it took to find the solution and thus spare myself a lot of time, money, aggravation and oh yeah painā€™ option. BUT OH WELL.
Anyway. So this changes things a little but not a done. The general course of treatment is still the same. They still have to do the exact same surgery, only now instead of opening me up and putting in a new prosthetic joint, theyā€™ll open me up, cut off the bottom part of my jaw so that they can then basically dig out the upper part from where its stuck behind/under/inside my skull, do something *mutters vague medical-ese in place of the details I glazed over here and didnā€™t totally catch look I am still very sleep deprived all the time*, then manually reset the condyle/top of the jawbone in the joint they restore via the vague medical-ese mumble mumble stuff, manually realign the whole rest of my lower jaw and then screw the bottom and top pieces of jawbone back together with like a plate or something.Ā
But now at least we donā€™t have to wait for a prosthetic, or pay for one, so thatā€™s at least a couple thousand dollars cheaper though the rest of the surgery is still the same as before, like 20K out of pocket or thereabouts. And its always better when they can use/salvage your natural body instead of having to use prosthetics or insert foreign material - theoretically, this means I should heal faster, regain more or fuller function of my whole jaw, and thereā€™s less risk of nerve damage since all the muscles and everything are still attached to the jaw and just unable to do their job because its literally just stuck, but again its always better if like, they donā€™t have to try and reattach or reintegrate muscles and all that around a brand new piece of bone or prosthetic that they place in there for the first time.
So its literally just a waiting game now? She sent off her updated notes and case file to my insurance company now to try and expedite getting a greenlight on the surgery. It only takes two weeks to book the surgery and get into an OR somewhere, and the only thing weā€™re waiting for now is payment, basically. As soon as I can afford the surgery, we can schedule it, and two weeks later, bam. So fingers crossed that my insurance company will approve it - she feels pretty confident they will, because she thinks sheā€™s made more than enough argument and provided plenty of documentation to prove its an absolute medical necessity (hahahahaha just let them try and argue w/me about that, I WILL DEVOUR THEIR ENTIRE SOULS, MY JAW IS 90% UNHINGED ALREADY, ITā€™LL BE EASY).
So mostly its just a matter of how long it takes to get an answer from them, and if theyā€™ll approve the whole thing or only part of it, and if the latter, how long itā€™ll take me to raise the rest. She said give it a week before I start calling the insurance company directly myself, to nag them, lol. But that her best guess is itā€™ll probably be around three weeks or so to hear back, for something like this.
So, fingers crossed that I get a quick answer and a good one in terms of paying at least most of the surgery. And then....blessed scalpel and morphine drip. *weeps in I Have Never Been So Excited To Be Cut Open On A Table Like A Fish, Seriously, What A Weird Thing To Have Be Like Christmas and My Birthday and Some Other Random Assortments of Holidays Used As An Excuse for Gift-Giving*
Sheā€™s planning on doing the surgery on a Saturday as its usually easier to book an OR on the weekend, and the surgery itself should only take a day and I shouldnā€™t need to stay overnight after all. BUT I still need to figure out finding some way to stay with someone for the ten days after the surgery though, which - no idea how to go about that just yet lol, working on it. But my jawā€™ll have to be wired shut for the ten days post surgery, liquid diet only, so she was like ā€œLOL yeah no, you should definitely not count on being able to talk for the first couple weeks of recovery. Or stand up really. Or like, get out of bed at all pretty much. As much as it sucks right now, its gonna suck even more then, you will definitely hate everything and itā€™ll hurt even more before it gets better, BUT then itā€™ll actually get better. Finally.ā€ Like, Iā€™m paraphrasing, but that was my takeaway, lol. Yay. Things to look forward, much excitement, canā€™t wait.
Nah but like, I will literally put up with anything at this point in order for it to be over, and after that, I shouldnā€™t need more than a month or two of physical therapy before I have full function of my jaw back. But she thinks itā€™ll be if not quite as good as new, at least close enough for there not to be much difference. She said she sees no reason for there to be any lingering or residual pain or nerve issues or vertigo once my recovery period is over, and my face should look pretty much the same as it did before all this started then. Said thereā€™s a slight possibility, depending on certain things with how the surgery goes, that my chin might end up a little more recessed than it had been originally, but not enough that itā€™d be especially noticeable - if anything, it probably would only show as different from before when looked at in profile, from a side view.Ā
LOL, she was like, there is an additional procedure I can do right then and there while we already have you under, thatā€™ll bring your chin forward and compensate for any differences there and its easiest to do it right at the same time as everything else. But thatā€™s essentially just a cosmetic procedure, so your insurance likely wouldnā€™t pay for that. And I was like okay, well just so I know, how much is that procedure? And sheā€™s like, oh, 8K. And I was all HAHAHAHAHAHA, doc, you funny. I mean, donā€™t get me wrong, Iā€™m vain and shallow, but Iā€™m cheaper and broker than I am vain and shallow, so thatā€™s gonna be a hard pass from me. Iā€™ll stick to just overcompensating with my wit and dazzling personality, mmkay.
LOL. Anyway, so thatā€™s where things stand right now, just....waiting. And hoping. And crossing fingers. And trying not to fall into my usual trap of assuming this slight uptick of good or positive news means IMPENDING DOOM elsewhere. Like, there is still a slight risk of nerve damage with the surgery itself, not the potential for full face paralysis that the other doc was saying might happen, sheā€™s not worried about that at all, but she did warn that in like 10-20% of cases with this surgery, thereā€™s a chance of nicking a sensory nerve that means like, ending up with your face numb around the chin and above and around your mouth, where you basically canā€™t feel much in those areas. Sometimes that lasts for a month or two, and occasionally there are some people who never regain sensation there, but she stressed that its not a huge risk, again only 10-20% of the time, but she did want to make sure I was aware. Course, my cynical ass is like OKAY BUT YOU UNDERESTIMATE HOW MUCH THE UNIVERSE LIKES TO MAKE EVERYTHING IN MY LIFE LINE UP WITH EXTREMELY LONG ODDS AND UNLIKELY POSSIBILITIES, WHY WOULD YOU TEMPT FATE WITH A DIRECT CHALLENGE LIKE THAT, DO YOU HATE ME, DO YOU WANT ME TO DIE????
LOL. Look Iā€™m a Melodramatic Melvin, this is canon. And in the immortal words of Ugh Stiles, Iā€™m almost to the point of no longer being able toĀ ā€˜milk this anymoreā€™ so I gotta cram my last good angsts in while I still can, yā€™know? Nah, but srsly, Iā€™m gonna try and not stress about that too much because she said thereā€™s literally nothing I or she can do to minimize that risk, it just is what it is, and the one thing I do know is that my body/brain tends to be highly suggestible and psychosomatism tends to play a huge role in my health and how well or quickly or thoroughly I bounce back from stuff. So. Trying to do the whole positive thoughts, eyes on the prize, Speak Only Good Stuff Into Existence until Iā€™m out the other side. Like, take it for granted that the odds arenā€™t gonna fuck me this time so I donā€™t end up accidentally stressing myself into the perfect position for my body to be like Screw You Baby, One More Time.
I mean, weā€™ll see how well that goes, lol, but you know. Goals.
