Ok this fandom has so little ship name consistency - like they don't even use the same rules! - so before I pick one at random I'm putting it to a vote!
Options derived by centering my mind and asking "What would people using *existing ship name x* come up with for this?" 😆
Feel free to argue for whatever you want in the tags, but your write-in will have to win on overwhelming and undeniable tag / reblog support alone lol

How Riverdale Taught Me About Fate
i've never been a tremendous fan of fate and destiny as a narrative device. i like oedipus as much as the next guy, but it's a trope that gets deployed fairly often and it just never really worked for me. and then something happened that made me Understand, and that thing was fucking riverdale of all things. not on purpose, of course, completely inadvertently, but it has never left my mind.
i'll try to set the stage as briefly as possible. nothing in this show ever makes sense so just work with me here.
we've moved into a parallel universe, twilight zone version of riverdale where lots of weird shit is happening but most importantly, dead people are coming back to life. jughead eventually figures out that this is a bubble universe leeching energy from the main/real universe and will destroy it given enough time, so he has to destroy THIS universe to stop that from happening. just as he is heroically about to do this, what villain should show up to stop him but gasp archie andrews himself! our golden boy!
why? because dead people are coming back to life, and if they just wait--he doesn't care if it kills another universe, if they just wait, his dad will come back. he wants to see his dad again; he's getting married, i know my dad would never miss my wedding, i know it.
and readers, this broke my heart, because i knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that fred andrews was not going to show up. not because of any narrative foreshadowing, not because i'd been spoiled on the plot, but because frank perry is dead.
frank perry played archie's dad in the show, and died unexpectedly, which is the only reason fred andrews dies in the show. but archie doesn't know that. how could he? that fact was dictated by factors not just beyond his control, but utterly beyond his comprehension.
and that's when it hit me square in the chest: THAT'S what fate is. forces operating on a scale you can't even begin to imagine, and it has nothing to do with anything you've done, but it's going to show up and crush you regardless.
is this what it feels like to be god? to see all the machinations on a grand scale and look at one person saying, maybe my dad will come back, and it's as comical as it is tragic, his complete and utter ignorance of what's really happening. watching, laughing, pitying as someone hopes for the impossible.
fate is some terrible beast you will never be able to see because it exists on planes you can't even imagine. fate is a truth so much bigger than you, than your life, than your world. there was nothing archie could ever have done that would have made a difference. frank perry is still dead. even the people who share a plane of existence with frank perry can't change that. archie has no way of influencing whether his father returns; he has zero agency. he will never understand any this. that's fate.

This is why I stopped watching riverdale to begin with - because it sucks. What the actual fuck was the point of getting Jeronica finally together only to end it one episode later!?
LIKE - I seriously hate this show and I should have never gotten my hopes up ffs.

I think literature should canonize Cheryl Blossom the way it did King Arthur. include her in everything, have her appear just to say something true and beautiful then leave the narrative, a thousand parodies and references and allusions to someone being her reincarnation or successor. I want it to be hazy and up for debate whether she was a real person a hundred years from now so that i can imagine a better brighter future. there should be episodes of Star Trek that talk about her like a saint-figure from the past. she should be in Fate.
