Viktuuri's Figure Skates

Here's what boots and blades I think Viktor and Yuuri would use, or at least what they do use in my story because there I am god and can decide such things how I want

Viktor:

Edea Piano and John Wilson Pattern 99 blade (custom in gold of course)

Viktor doesn't go easy on jumps. He has 4 different quads in his freeskate! So he needs a boot that does offer high support and doesn't break after like two weeks of use. That's why I picked the Piano boot over the Ice Fly for him. The Piano is stiffer than the Ice Fly and cut a little higher, giving Viktor the support he would desire for his jumps.

As for the blades...they just feel right. A classic. I don't know how to explain it. That's just the blade alongside the Gold Seal (which apparently is more popular with the russians from what I've heard but idc, not that Viktor would either).

Also this is the Yuzuru Hanyu combo. If Yuzu can jump a fucking quad axel in those, Viktor can jump a mean quad flip!

IRL Skaters I know wear or wore piano boots: Yuzuru Hanyu, Kamila Valieva, Evgenia Medvedeva

IRL Skaters who wear or wore Pattern 99 blades: Yuzuru Hanyu (at least the revolution ones), Shoma Uno, Denis Ten ( Rip <3)

However...I also feel like Viktor "chanel lip balm" Nikiforov would be the kind of person to invest in a pair of completly custom Harlick boots. Those start at like 1500 $... in comparison the Piano is in the mid 600's I think?

The fact that he has the russian flag on his heels in canon also supports that a little tbh... Yakov stopped him from getting a glitter glaze for the sole. It's how he lost majority of his hair

I'm pretty sure Alijona Savchenko wore/wears Harlicks...but she's the only one who comes to mind rn.

So either Pianos or custom Harlicks...I'll decide on that soon...maybe...If I ever mention this in my story at all ^^'

Yuuri:

Edea Concerto and MK Gold Star blades.

Now when it comes to Edea Skates, the Piano and Ice Fly are what comes to mind when you think of the highest ranked skaters, right? Because those two have the highest support. The Concerto is a little thinner and is, from what I've read, therefor more flexible than the Ice Fly.

I feel like Yuuri would value the more traditional feel and look of the Concerto. Nothing "fancy". He probably tried the Ice Fly or Piano at one point and didn't like it.

First I thought John Wilson Gold Seal, but then I remembered that the MK Gold Stars have a 7ft rocker, which means that they are smother for spins and turns...but sacrifice control for edge work and jumps. But I think that's a sacrifice Yuuri makes, because he spent so much time refining his edge work as a child alone in the ice castle, and doesn't really need it? Idk it makes sense in my head, fight me.

IRL Skaters I know wear Concerto boots: Roman Sadovsky (that's it. I don't know anyone else...)

IRL Skaters who wear/wore MK Gold Star blades: ....I legit don't know any.

I also feel like Yuuri wore some sort of Risport boot when he was younger :3

So that's my opinion on that...based on what I've read about this in the last years...my level of skating isn't high enough to ever have tried any of these whups ^^'

Should I sharpen my skates as soon as they start feeling dull? I've gone 4x this week (around 5hrs) & I did 2 hours last week. I have Edea Balance blades and Risport Antares boots that I bought last week.

Does sharpening always last this long or was it because it was my first sharpen?
