this little butterfly is Sarota acantus, a fingernail-sized work of art found in Central and South America. you can tell this one is a female since she’s walking on all six legs—male metalmarks have a greatly reduced first pair!

And Rantasia didn't even fight from the front, so why don't we count all of Maris' allies who didn't appear, hm? Anyway, we both know that it was unfair. Even if we beat Sylvana, like we would in a normal fight if she didn't sneak up on us, the Guardian would just send more people after us, and if we beat them all, someone would just go back in time to undo it all. The real question here, with so many broken powers at her disposal, why didn't Maris already won? Is she even trying? Or she just enjoys being the city's unofficial mascot so much, she lets villains rampage?
"And come on, tell me you wouldn't be caught off-guard if I flew into your face on a freaking jetpack! Like seriously, what kind of bullshit power Genesis is? Isn't the Ladybug and the Black Cat, you know, the two we have beaten in that battle, supposed to be the strongest? But Maris only gets a random item she doesn't even understands half the time, and Sylvana can ask for anything? My power, I mean Venom needs to connect to even work, and she can ask for a sniper rifle and take me out from a mile? Did the guy who designed the iraculous ever heard of balance? With a Miraculous like that I would be unbeatable!
Anyway, as I said... I don't really care."

it took me a few minutes to realize what I was looking at here, but it wasn’t predation: these Azteca ants were fiercely guarding this Theope (Riodinidae) larva for the nutritious honeydew it secretes from glands in its rear (photo 2). at first I thought it was a normal caterpillar being eaten by ants, but after walking past a second time I saw what an unusual specimen it was!
not sure what the bulbous ornaments on its head are for, but it did sort of look like clustered ants, maybe some sort of ant mimicry in case no ants were in attendance? literature on this genus suggests they cannot survive without defense from Azteca

What is the Marisverse?
Maris Stella is a Miraculous Ladybug Original Character Alternate Universe, or a MLBOCAU. The Kwamis remain the same, but the humans Holders have all been replaced by OCs.
Originally I was going to use only my own OCs but I borrowed some from friends (and some of their friends joined in.) Oh and a few canon characters from other series ended up in here.
I'll be focusing as my OCs here, and mostly the major ones (being the Holders) though if you have a question for some of the Kwamis, that might be fun too. I'll probably just be answering questions from friends and not interacting much with other posts- maybe.

"Can we talk this out‽ Did I mention that I'm sorry for my entire bitch asshole phase‽ I don't know what you're trying to accomplish but I promise you don't need Riodinidae to - WAUGH" Hallie waughs as Hitomi yanks them away from the akuma. "Tomi! What are you doing?"
"Hal, I recognize that you feel a need to clean up your mess here, but THIS IS THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME. At least let the heroes turn her back into a person first!"
