My favourite thing from the "Cersei used to swap places with Jaime so she could have sword fighting and politics lessons" is that it implies that Jaime wore a dress and went to Cersei's embroidery and sewing lessons. I have yet to see anyone address this beyond a vague 'yea, Jaime pretended to be Cersei with a dress'. guys. guys. Jaime probably had to attend multiple lessons with a septa and learn how to make pretty stitches. Fuck all your 'Cersei is a great lord and mother but a bad queen' rants, I want to hear your 'Jaime is a good lady and knight but a bad lord' rants. Give me detailed analysis of what lady lessons Jaime would be best in. I bet that it's dancing and one time with Brienne he got distracted and started doing all the lady's moves by instinct and everyone watching just blue-screened because he is way better and more practised at the feminine moves than the masculine ones.

duke thomas is the most likely to rick-roll the batcomputer and barbara gordon is the most likely to help him and saying that it's tim and steph is lies and slander because that implies that tim is a good enough hacker to do so and also willing to listen to steph when she vents about bruce and comes up with her newest idea to annoy the man

Working with kids is a gift and a blessing and also a practice of hearing increasingly extremely concerning things and I bet Batman knows exactly how I feel. I bet sometimes he’ll be on patrol with one of the chaotic little buggers and they’ll start spouting off some weird shit like,,,,
“And Charizards my favourite because he’s like a dragon but he’s also not so he’ll be my friend and not eat me. But I think if I ask nicely he’ll burn my furby and eat him.” (Real quote from one of my students)
And Batman has to just look down at his kid and be like “…that’s nice Robin” and move on

There’s a ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ trend on TikTok and everyone keeps commenting “omg this is Jason Todd”
No. Jason Todd was your polite theatre kid. Tim Drake, Terry McGinnis, Duke Thomas, and Stephanie Brown were the teenage dirtbags. Tim was a skateboarding 90s kid, Terry got arrested, Duke started a gang, and Steph was a teen mom.

OTPs are great but poly ships are where it’s at. Here are some of my favourites. Feel free to add more
If anyone wants fic recommendations, I have some for some ships. Also I would love recommendations for fics with any of these ships as well. Or any “real” books with poly relationships.
Harry Potter/Hermione Granger/Ron Weasley
Inej Ghafa/Jesper Fahey/Kaz Brekker
Jason Grace/Piper McLean/Reyna Ramirez-Arellano
Genya Safin/Zoya Nazyalensky/Alina Starkov
Lily Evans/James Potter/Regulus Black
Honestly all the crows together is great
Lily/James/Sirius/Remus
Dean Thomas/Seamus Finnegan/Ginny Weasley
Neville Longbottom/Luna Lovegood/Ginny Weasley
Suki/Sokka/Zuko
Ty Lee/Mai/Azula
Geralt/Jaskier/Yennefer
Poe/Finn/Rey
Peter Parker/Ned Leeds/Michelle Jones
Lyanna Mormont/Rickon Stark/Shireen Baratheon
Chel/Tulio/Miguel
You know I could ship most of the avengers together (fanon of course)
Harry/Ginny/Luna has potential
Hermione/Ginny/Fleur (I’ve read a few good fics with them)

Yooooooo I just finished The Heroine’s Journey by Gail Carriger and it was so good!!! I don’t read a ton of non-fiction, especially not about writing, but  I picked this book up because I love Gail Carriger’s writing (I’ve read most of her Parasolverse and I’m planning on reading her other series eventually) and it was definitely worth it! Would highly recommend to “writers, readers, and fans of pop culture” as it says on the cover.

Invader (1992)
Tumblr media
I delve into my big box of random VHS tapes and what do I find? Another bad sci-fi film so obscure it doesn’t even have a Wikipedia article. Normally, this would mean a lot of painful extra research. This time, I didn't mind having to look up names and facts because I kind of enjoyed Invader in a “so bad it’s good” kind of way.
Frank McCall (Hans Bachmann) is a reporter working for one of those trashy publications, the kind that claim Elvis is still alive and raising Big Foot's children kind of thing. When he stumbles upon a real-life UFO, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime - and possible doom for for humanity. The extraterrestrial computer system has been merged with a U.S. military defence program and now ASMODS (Automated System Managing Offense and Defense Strategies, pronounced Asmodeus) is turning our soldiers into zombies to take over the world!
I like the setup. A guy who makes a living writing bogus stories stumbles upon the real deal. What’s funny is that not even his editor will believe his tales of an alien ship flying around the countryside incinerating some and brainwashing others. He might as well have been a 10-year-old kid trying to convince his parents except he can drive a car.
The biggest problem with Invader is that ultimately, it isn’t very memorable. As I write this review I can already feel the plot's details slipping away. It’s too bad. If you like making fun of bad films, there’s plenty to mock here. We’ve got bullet-proof buses and trucks, obvious models, clunky stop-motion effects that really weren’t required but were probably used for budgetary reasons, some questionable behavior on the part of the military (including A. Thomas Smith as a Captain and Rick Foucheux as a Colonel). Plus it all comes down to a very silly climax with an awesome stop-motion creation with a truly ridiculous head.
This film is all mismatched bits and pieces stitched together. It’s part Terminator with the evil computer that sees humans as a threat thing, it’s part War of the Worlds with the saucer, there’s some Invasion of the Body Snatchers thrown into the mix and a bunch of intentional comedy. I laughed out loud at the unfortunate timing of this plot when I heard everyone panicking over the fact that ASMODS could spread from one military base to another… not through the Internet... through PHONE LINES!
Invader is a terrible film. You’ve got a classic display of lousy action, dialogue, special effects, plotting, and basically everything else attempting to serve a plot that needed a much bigger budget than it got. I was never truly bored though (ok, maybe restless a few times) and when you see what the finale is like, you’ll be glad you made it to the culmination of pure madness. I can’t recommend you seek this one out, but if you stumble upon it at garage sale for a dollar, or you find it in your parent’s basement propping up a table, check it out - if bad movies on VHS tape is your thing. Otherwise, let it gather more dust. (On VHS, October 1, 2015)

omfg i love ur blog;! i was wondering what are your fave whump eps from new and old magnum pi
Why hello, you! ::waves:: Welcome to my private slice of hell, feel free to poke around. ;-)
For the OG Magnum, I highly recommend talking to @blazeofobscurity - I watched them all when I was much, much younger and only recently started catching them on Prime now that they’re listed there, but I am always asking her for reference material, and she’s got the good stuff. Off the top of my head, the classic “Home from the Sea” (4x01) (which Requiem by the awesome @amandagaelic is the Reboot version of it, and very much worth reading), and the sort of knock off version “Solo Flight” (7x16) where he gets trapped under an old WWII plane wreckage and has to save himself.
For the reboot:  The Pilot -  he even starts off the episode beat up, the awesome flashback scene with them at the camps, him getting beat up by the bad guys again, and it still holds a special place because they established that Rick and TC were a couple of badasses in their own right (sniper shot from a moving helicopter at high speeds? The math involved makes me cry).
Death is Only Temporary- he gets bashed over the head and chased around the jungle at night by a guy with a crossbow while his hands are tied behind him
Cat Who Cried Wolf - Thomas gets nailed by a car and breaks a couple of ribs, but they sort of brush it off, but there’s still that 10 seconds I can appreciate. Also, kidnapped by a turn coat fed, dragged out into the middle of the ocean to be killed and decides that his best option is to in fact blow up the boat that he’s on, miles from shore, and hope his buddies find him.
Ties That Bind - admittedly, not much physical whump, but some solid emotional stuff since it elaborates on his time as a prisoner.
Day the Past Came Back - GOLDMINE. Kidnapped and tied up in the first 10 seconds, stabbed making his escape, stitched up dockside, and then shot, beaten up, and thrown from a moving vehicle by his ex (and holy crap, a hospital scene with his buddies worried about physical and mental well being)
And for Rick? Solidly Bad Day to Be a Hero: starts off the episode getting beat up (while also being a badass) at the beginning of a poker game gone wrong, and From the Head Down - the episode where we first find out that Rick was a marine scout sniper, before they drop it for the rest of the series, making me bitter and angry. Oh - and I think Magnum actually gets pretty beat up towards the end, too - in a car accident and all bloodied up from the wreckage.
Season 2:
Knight Lasts Forever - mostly this is on the list because of the set up for Ivan, but he does get kidnapped, so...
Blood Brothers - There is nothing not to like about this episode, though technically the whump is again all psychological, but I love it and am a firm believer everyone should watch it.
Day I Met the Devil - sold out in the Triple Frontier by his former CO to Ivan, baddie from Knight Lasts Forever, captured, beat up, and almost killed.
Hmmm. Typing it out like that, I didn’t realize how light on the whump season 2 was by comparison. No wonder I’m so cranky about it. Yeah. We’ll go with that.

OKAY. i figured id talk about 43 now finally!!! IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT IM NOT TALKING ABOUT 43 THE SONG ... BUT 43 THE BAND !!
PICS ARE AT THE BOTTOM!! SO IF U JUST WANNA SEE THE PICS AND SKIP THE LORE JUST SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM1!
it is honestly one of my favourite little lore tidbits honestly...
OKAY. for some background context, tommy shaffner, steve rauckhorst, jc koszewski, and rick thomas all went to north royalton highschool together.
also important little fun facts that rlly nail in the sentimentalness of all of this: a lot of past (and I guess present) mushroomhead members went to north royalton!... jeff (I think), skinny, gravy, shmotz... likely a few more but those are the ones I know for sure!
tommy was a grade below steve and jc.. I THINK. and rick was a grade or two above steve and jc !!
for more context; jc koszewski was never IN mushroomhead but he worked for them and has been affiliated with them for about the same amount as tommy as, if not longer, since his dad grew up next door to and friends with, dinner!
for even more context; steve grew up living next door to jeff, and jeff introduced steve to a lot of the music he came to know and love, but most especially, jeff was the one who introduced him to mushroomhead! however many decades and years later, jeff would hand-pick steve to be his replacement after leaving!
sometime in 1999, jc was class president, with steve as his campaign manager! this was also around the time of columbine, or like, just after it, which is important to note, because kids who were metalheads and who looked "alternative" started to get more heavy ostracised and scrutinised ... which was something that jc wanted to change, at least within north royalton!
so, sometime in may, jc got all the choir kids together n rushed them into a van halen cover band, and then also got him, tommy, steve, and a few of their friends together to do a mushroomhead cover band for a school pep rally!! which was something jc had really been wanting to do for a while! and so they called themselves 43!!! like the song!!!
eagle eyed mrh fans will now realise that the 43 patch on steve's vest probably has a lot more significance and sentimentality than just being "haha! 43 like the song!"
now, rick WOULD'VE also been in the band, but he wasn't allowed to leave class because he was stuck in detention! also fun little fact, rick was a vo-ed kid!! rick would've been the bronson of the group, so when the time came for them to perform they had to go bronson-less </3 HOWEVER, rick did still help out where he could, in the form of supplying them all with the white camo jumpsuits they needed!
they were also going to perform without keyboards, but then one of their friends said he'd do it like.. the day before, because he figured out he could get out of class for it! so at least they had their shmotz!
for those who want to know who was who, at least out of tommy, steve and jc, I shall now tell you!
steve was jeff jc was jmann and tommy was jj! he was originally meant to be dinner, but their friend who was meant to be jj (some guy called chris... which might've been chris simmons but I'm NOT SURE. so don't quote me on that.) was just... too pathetically skinny to be able to pull it off... so!! they swapped!
let me just say.... how like.. crazy full circle moment that is btw. for steve especially ... like... living next door to a guy who plays in a band, who then gets you into said band, and then that band becomes your favourite band to the point of obsession. then you do a fun little cover band of said band, and u are the guy u look up to, live next to, and owe your obsession to... and from there, starting to hang out with the band more often, becoming a roadie and a tech for them, all to then find urself getting hand picked like 2 decades later by that same guy, to replace him. like..... LIIIKEEE.... STEVE REALLY WAS JUST FATED TO BE THE NEXT JEFF BASICALLY.
ummm! and then that night, they all went and saw mushroomhead!!! . or like day after or something!
and that. is bascially the story of 43!! there's a bit more too it but its kind of just like. little tidbits and whatnot .. not the most important thing ever.. but yeah!! idk!! its one of my favourite little bits of mrh-adjacent lore... :-33
OKAY. 43 PICS TIME1!! i have only 3...!! there might honestly be more out there I think there is probably like. 1 or 2 that I just forgot to save but... eventually ill go hunting again!! also sorry for like. the very clear Instagram screenshot quality... TOO LAZY TO FIX IT !!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay!! ^_^
also... funny story ab the confetti at the pep rally.... they had like.. many bags of confetti right... and jc decided to throw a bag of it... but somehow ended up like... throwing the bag itself further than the actual confetti... also apparently jc was asked to join the track team like.. right after the performance bcos of how much he was bouncing around!! VERY CUTE
OKAY1! THATS THE STORY OF 43!!!

Fatal Attraction - Part 5
Tumblr media
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Summary:When a mysterious man shows up at your job, you find yourself inexplicably drawn to him - and him to you. But behind the beautiful face is the dark lifestyle of a man who has made his wealth through becoming the most powerful drug dealer in the city. Word count: 4k whew my longest work ever I think (there are probably some typos towards the end forgive me!!!)
Song: I wanna be yours // Arctic Monkeys
Warnings: blood, stitches (please ignore if its not medically accurate I tried y’all), smut
Your eyes fluttered open as warm morning sunlight entered the room. With each slow blink, details from last night came back to you. For a few moments you were certain it wasn’t all just a dream, but the bruises on your knuckles told you it was very real.
You looked down at yourself, you were in the pajamas you had packed, but you had no memory of putting them on. You peeked inside your shirt, seeing your bra was still on. Mika must have got you into your pjs because you would have never left your bra on to sleep, no matter how exhausted you were. You thought it was sweet, though, he could have been a creep and stolen a look at you while you were passed out, but he didn’t. He really was a criminal with morals.
Speaking of your favorite criminal, you rolled over, happy to find him still in bed with you. He was closer to the other edge of the bed, which in a king-sized bed felt like a mile away. His back was to you, allowing you to sneak up behind him and wrap your arms around him.
“Morning,” he mumbled softly. His eyes were still closed, but he smiled when you pressed a kiss to his cheek.
“Morning,” you whispered, cuddled against him. He was so warm and solid, curing the little chill you always seemed to feel in the morning, no matter the temperature outside. You couldn’t imagine anything that would be worth leaving this bed for.
“I wish we could stay like this forever,” Mika said, as if he could read your thoughts. He turned towards you, his eyes somehow even more beautiful with a hint of sleepiness in them.
“Who says we can’t?” you asked with a playful grin.
Mika chuckled, “Just about everyone who buys my product.” You thought it was interesting the way he spoke about what he did. It was all very professional, like he was working in a legitimate business. You didn’t mean that in a way to belittle what he did, clearly he did well for himself and you really didn’t have a problem with it. You wondered, though, if it was a show for you, like he thought you were more comfortable hearing “product” rather “drugs.”
“Can they wait five more minutes?” you asked, not ready to leave this little slice of heaven just yet.
“Of course they can,” Mike replied, kissing your forehead.
“I have to say,” you began, absentmindedly running your finger over his arm, “I was a bit surprised about last night.”
“I’m glad I didn’t freak you out too much with Thomas. I was nervous you’d flip out on me,” Mika replied, watching how you touched him. He loved how delicately your hand moved along his toned forearm.
“No not that... well yeah I guess that surprised me too,” you laughed lightly. That was an understatement, but not what you were thinking of. “I mean the window thing. Not exactly what I would expect from a guy that wants to take things slow.”
Mika shrugged, “It was just the way you handled yourself, I don’t know, it got to me I guess. You're not very easy to resist, y/n.”
You were sure his words made your cheeks turn a bright shade of pink. “Guess it’s good you live so far up, or else some people would have gotten a good show,” you joked.
“I’d never let anyone else see you like that,” Mika said, laughing, though there was an edge of seriousness in his voice. You guess Mika was not a man that liked to share.
You laid together for a little while longer, but hunger got the best of you both eventually. You meandered out to the kitchen, thinking you would just be having some cereal or something. You should have known by now that Mika was not just a cereal type of guy.
“A chef?” you asked, not sure why you were even shocked. He was in the kitchen, churning out a little breakfast spread for the two of you.
“I thought you’d be hungry after last night,” Mika replied. Your stomach growled as if to agree with him. You loaded your play with pancakes, eggs, and some fruit for good measure before settling down on one of the stools at the kitchen island.
“Do you mind if Chris joins us?” Mika asked. You shook your head, your mouth was too full to reply verbally.
At first you were sure Chris didn’t like you, but you think he was just very protective of Mika, which you appreciated. You guessed he thought you either just wanted him for his money, or got yourself into something that was way above your head. The former couldn’t be further from the truth and the latter, well, maybe there was a hint of truth to that. You didn’t know exactly what this lifestyle would entail, but you were prepared to do whatever it takes to keep up. You weren’t about to become a liability to Mika. With the look of approval you caught from Chris last night after handling Thomas, you think he was finally starting to see that too.
Chris came in form the elevator a few moments later, greeting you with a reserved smile, but a smile nonetheless. That was progress in your book. “We still on for tonight?” he asked as he filled his plate with eggs.
“Yeah, I’ve texted the guys to be ready at our normal spot at midnight,” Mika replied.
“What’s tonight?” you asked, not following the conversation.
“We’ve got a shipment coming in,” Mika explained, “Nothing big, really. It’s more of a decoy if anything. Dimitri’s trying to figure out where we import from so he can hijack the big one we having coming in soon.”
“Can I come?” The both shook their heads immediately.
“This isn’t like last night,” Mika replied slowly. You could tell he was trying to choose his words carefully. “Last night was secure. These things are... harder to plan for. Things can... go south fast. I don’t want you in the middle of that.” No matter how heavily he sugarcoated it, you knew he was saying there was chance he could get seriously hurt tonight, or worse.
“You could die,” you heard yourself say. You didn’t want to sound scared or like you couldn’t handle this. Mika didn’t need another thing to worry about, and a small part of you was scared that if he thought this was going to freak you out too much he’d break things off.
“Please don’t worry, y/n,” Mika insisted, “I’ve done these countless times and I’m still here. Hell, this one is probably the safest one we’ve done in a while because we are anticipating Dimitri watching. We’ll be ready for him and any of the shit he pulls.”
Chris slung his arm around Mika’s shoulder and added, “I’d never let anything happen to Mika, I promise.” You gave them your bravest smile. It did make you feel better to hear that, but still you couldn’t complete ignore the nerves in your stomach.
“What am I supposed to do while you’re gone?”
“Isn't tonight your normal night to work a shift at the club?” Mika asked. You wondered if he planned it that way. He was right though, you were supposed to work tonight. You had almost completely forgotten about Rick’s shitty club; it felt like a lifetime ago.
“Ugh, yeah a do,” you groaned, “That place fucking sucks.”
“Do you wanna quit?” Mika asked.
“I would love too.”
“So do it,” Mika replied casually, “You don’t need to work, I’ve got you covered.”
“Mika, I can’t, I don’t wanna mooch of you. It’s not fair,” you replied.
“You're not mooching, I want to do it,” Mika countered, “But if you want to work, I definitely support it. I’ll help you find a different job even. I just... I don’t really like the way other men look at you when you dance if I’m honest.” Yeah, he definitely didn’t like to share. You thought it was hot, though, how he spoke with such seriousness.
“Okay deal,” you replied, “I’ll work my final shift tonight and then look for something new. God it will be so nice to be able to tell off Rick once and for all.”
Chris let out a laugh, “Kinda wish I could see that.” You smiled, glad that he really seemed to be warming up to you.
“So I gotta ask,” you shifted the topic, “How did you to meet?” Mika and Chris exchanged a glance as if sharing a silent exchange of who wants to tell the story this time?
Apparently it was Chris’s turn. “Guess it’s not so crazy. I used to live with my family up in Massachusetts, but we didn’t get along well I guess you could say. My parents put a lot of pressure on me to excel in everything. They even wanted me to be a pro hockey player, I mean can you imagine?” Chris and Mika chucked before Chris continued, “Anyways, when I told them that isn’t what I wanted they basically kicked me out and cut me off. I moved to New York and started selling to get by. And that’s when I met Mika.”
“My dad used to have me scout guys,” Mika picked up the story, “Trying to figure out who we could recruit to work for us. I just clicked with Chris unlike I have with anyone else. He's one of the few people I trust completely.” Chris smiled bashfully at Mika’s words. You could tell they meant a lot to each other and you were happy Mika had such a great friend.
“I’m glad you have each other,” you replied. Specifically glad that Mika had Chris. It would make you nervous (well more nervous than you already are) for Mika to be out doing this without someone to have his back. Especially someone like Chris who, the more time you spent, with the more you were convinced he could wrestle a grizzly bear.
The rest of the day was pretty quiet. Mika was extremely calm for someone about to go out and break the law while being watched by some lunatic mobster. You spent much of your time laid beside him, his hand lazily tracing lines over your body as he made phone calls to the other guys finalizing the details. You wished you could get in his head and see if he actually had any fear, or if he was just being brave so you wouldn’t freak out.
Eventually, it came time for you both to go to your respective jobs. Hopefully it would only be your final time doing it. “Hey, don’t look so scared,” Mika said softly, tucking his finger under your chin and pushing it up so you had to look at him. “Everything gonna be okay, I promise. By the time you’re done with your shift at the club I’ll be home. You won't even have time to miss me.”
You couldn’t help but smile softly at the way he spoke to you. It filled you with such a sweet warmth and comfort. “I’ll be racing you back,” you teased, trying to show him you weren’t as nervous as you truly were.
“I know you will be,” Mika smirked, “So on the off chance you beat me to it, or if you need anything at all while I’m out, Lias is gonna be. We always have one person stay back in case- just for precaution. If you need anything call him.”
You nodded, wrapping your arms around him tightly. Mika gave you a peck on the lips and you returned it, which ended up in full blown making out in his living room.
“Jesus there are plenty rooms in this apartment you guys need to find one,” a voice quipped. Lias had let himself in. You and Mika both rolled your eyes and laughed. “Chris and the guys are waiting for you in the car downstairs.”
“Thanks Lias. Make sure you keep your phone on you if we need anything,” Mika turned to you and kissed your forehead before saying, “I’ll see you soon.” You gave your bravest smile as a goodbye and watched him disappear into the elevator. You wanted to go out with him so you could spend as much time with him as possible, but Mika was concerned about being seen with you. As far as he knew, Dimitri didn't know where he lived, but he still didn’t wanna risk it if he was watching.
So after ten minutes passed, you set off to the club one last time. Despite your nerves there was a go giddy excitement coursing through your veins. There were so many times you fantasized about telling Rick off and now you were finally going to be able to do it.
That was all you thought about during your shift. Well that and Mika, but you were trying to not make yourself a nervous wreck and that was the best distraction. It definitely wasn’t your best night in terms of tips but you really couldn’t give less of a fuck. It wasn’t about the money. You were just there to fill the time. Each song brought you closer to giving Rick what he deserves. Each song brought you closer to Mika.
And finally it was time. You eagerly changed back into your street clothes, hugging the girls you worked with goodbye. They didn’t ask questions about why you were quitting. That was best part of this profession, the girls you worked with understood life could be... complicated. You were glad you didn’t have to come up with a lie.
“I’d like to talk to you, Rick,” you stated, shutting the door to his office behind you. It was less office and more closet he turned into a makeshift office to feed his sense of self importance.
Rick smiled a sleazy smile, “Finally gonna take me up on that offer to fu-”
“Oh would you shut the fuck up,” you snapped, stunning him into a brief silence.
“You can’t talk to me like that,” Rick fired back. He could be loud, but you were scared of him. He was coward and he wouldn’t lay a hand on you. Even if he did, you knew Mika would crush him in a second if he heard.
“I can do whatever the fuck I want. Because I quit,” you began, “You are never going to lay one of your disgusting fucking fingers on me again. Or any of these girls for that matter. None of them want to fuck you, they're just to scared to tell you off because you’re their gross, manipulative boss.”
“Why don’t you j-”
“I’m not fucking finished,” you cut him off, “If I hear you even so much as make one creepy comment towards any of these girls I promise you it will be the last thing you ever do. Got it?” You hadn’t realized you were getting closer to him as you spoke until you were right in his face. You never saw him look so afraid. It felt good.
“Got it,” he gulped.
“Great,” you flashed a mean-spirited smile, “Don’t even bother paying me for the shift tonight. I don’t need your money.” With that you left, feeling on top of the fucking world. You almost forgot about what Mika was out doing. Almost.
Once the high of quitting wore off, you were practically running home. Had you not been so caught up in wanting to see Mika so badly, you may have thought more about how you were already referring to Mika’s place as “home” even though you haven’t even moved in. That didn’t matter right now, you just wanted to see his face.
You rushed into the apartment, nerves creeping in as you noted how quiet it was. You found Lias in the living room where you left him. Alone.
“They’re not back yet?” you asked, holding out hope Mika had slipped away to the bathroom.
“No, um, should be here soon,” Lias told you, though there was something off in his voice. He knew something he wasn’t telling you.
“Lias... did something happen?” Your heart was pounding your ears.
“It’s nothing really everything is-”
“Lias fucking tell me what happened,” you snapped. You couldn’t bare another moment in suspense.
“There was a fight,” Lias relented, “Not Dimitri’s people, but they were attacked.” Before you could ask what he meant by that, the elevator doors lid open. Chris walked in with his arm around Mika, who was bleeding down his face from his forehead.
“Oh my god,” you gasped. You knew head wounds bled more than other wounds even if they weren’t that bad, but the amount of blood dripping down his face was startling.
“It’s not as bad it looks,” Mika insisted. You rush over to him as Chris sat him down at on one of the stools in the kitchen.
“Seriously, you should see the other guy,” Chris added with a smirk, “Poor guy won’t be getting a date any time soon.” Mika and Chris had a laugh, as if Mika wasn’t still currently bleeding. You inspected the gash above his eyebrow, a little less than an inch long. You ran a finger over the skin around it and Mika winced.
“This is gonna need stitches,” you stated, getting a close a look as possible. It didn’t appear to go down to the bone, thank god.
“We can’t go to a hospital,” Mika told you, “Hospitals take names and ask questions.”
“Have you got a first aid kit?” you asked.
Chris nodded, “Should be a fully stocked one in the closet upstairs.”
“Grab it and bring it to the bathroom. Lias can you get some towels, please? Either dark ones or old ones. This will stain.” You held out your hand, which Mika took, but not without a quizzical look. You led him to the bathroom.
“Do you know how to do stitches?” Mika asked as you sat him down at the toilet. You turned on the tap, letting it run warm.
“I was studying to be a nurse before I left college,” you explained. By that time Lias had dropped off some black towels. You soaked one, gently removing the blood that had dripped down his neck.
“Is there anything you can’t do?” Mika asked, eyeing you with wonderment. You were trying to focus on wiping the blood around to wound off without pulling it open more, but his eyes on you clouded your thoughts.
“Long division,” you joked, mostly for yourself. You needed to lighten the mood. Once you got enough of the blood off, you instructed Mika to press the towel against his head to prevent anymore from coming out. Just then, Chris brought in the first aid kit.
“Need any help in here?” he asked.
“No, thank you,” you replied, your eyes scanning the interior of kit. You were relieved that it had everything you needed. Chris said something you didn’t really catch as you pulled out the disinfectant. You poured it on to the gauze and handed it to Mika. “Put this over the cut. It’s gonna sting, but it’s gotta get clean.”
Mika followed your instruction without question, though he did wince when the gauze touched his skin. “Jesus this hurt more than the actual cut.”
“Sorry,” you replied empathically.
“Not your fault baby,” he replied, his free hand finding the back of your thigh and rubbing it lightly. You ignored how it made your stomach flip as you tried to thread the need. It took you three tries.
“Try to hold still,” you said quietly as you positioned yourself over him. Your hands were shaking slightly, it had been awhile since you had done this. After a deep breath you were able to proceed, and you were surprised how easily it came back to you. Mika was an amazing patient, only a few little twitches of a frown as the needle went through his skin and the sutures closed up the wound.
“All done,” you said, letting out the breath you didn’t realize you're holding. You took a step back to admire your work. You were surprised at how good they looked.
Mika stood up and checked himself in the mirror. “Wow, you’re amazing, you know that right?” he marveled at you. It made your knees weak.
“You were the bravest patient I ever had,” you told him. He didn't need to know your only other patients included little kids at summer camps.
“Hope you don’t mind how they make me look,” Mika teased, wrapping his arms around your waist.
“I think it suits you,” you replied. It was weirdly hot, in a way. “Plus, I’ve always loved a scar on a man.” You gently thumbed his forehead, just a few inches above the wound.
Mika’s eyes clouded over lightly. At first you couldn't quite place it, but when his lips found your neck you realized it was lust. “How can I repay you?” he asked in a tone that told you he already had an idea.
You slipped your hand under his jaw, making him look at you. You took a second to admire the look in his eyes, before whispering. “Like this.” Your lips were on his in an instant. You kissed each other hungrily. Your hands tangled through his hair while his found your ass. He gave you a slight squeeze and you jumped up, wrapping your legs around him.
He was able to carry you effortlessly to his bedroom without ever losing contact with your lips. You fell into the clouds of his bed sheets gently, as Mika admired you from above. As much as his stare intoxicate you, you needed him. You reached up, pulling him on top of you.
Clothes feel off between kisses and gentle moans. Mika made it clear the other night that he was well-versed in foreplay activities, but right now you just wanted him. Nothing besides him inside you would satisfy the ache you felt between your legs.
Mika sensed this, reaching down to run his finger through you folds. He made sure you were wet enough for him and you were more than certain you were. Though when he removed the last of his clothes, there was a sliver of doubt in you. He was big, both long and thick.
“We’ll start slow,” Mika smirked, noting the look in your eye when you saw him. You didn’t have time to be embarrassed about being caught staring, he was already getting himself ready to push into you.
It didn't happen with you fistfuls of sheets and some gasps, but he managed to get himself all the way inside you. Mika was normally very composed, but you could see his willpower was crumbling as he felt your tightness around him.
Mika kept yo his word, moving slowing until you both adjusted to the feeling of the other. It didn’t take too long before he was able to move with more speed and strength. He felt unbelievably good inside you; you never felt so full in your life. His strokes were long but fast. It was the perfect mix of needy and passionate. He’d been thinking about this moment as long as you had.
Your orgasm approached surprisingly quickly. You clawed at Mika’s back, feeling the pleasure build to a near unbearable level.
“Fuck, Mika,” you gasped when you couldn’t hold on any longer. The sweet warm sensation of bliss filled you completely. You moaned into Mika’s neck as he kept going until he came along with you. The sounds he made were music to your ears.
Mika slowed up and let you both ride out the last few moments of your highs. He was panting lightly by the time he fell beside you on the bed. He had you in his arms within seconds.
“I guess neither of us understand the concept of slow,” you teased.
Mika chuckled, kissed the top of your head, “You get me. That’s why you’re my girl. Forever.”

Oh, boy...wish these scenes would stop popping into my head...no, I don’t....
“Thanks for stopping by TC,” Higgins told the former Marine.  “I’m a bit concerned we may have a problem with Thomas.”
“Oh-kay, wouldn’t be the first time…and probably not the last.  Why? What’s going on, exactly?”
“He seems to be having night terrors.  Two nights ago, Kumu and I were outside enjoying a Mojito when he scared the living hell out of poor Kumu.”
TC frowned, having a hard time picturing the woman that rattled.  “Why? What did he do?  Run around naked or something?”
Juliet smirked at him.  “Oh, no,…I think Kumu would rather have enjoyed that.  No, he suddenly started screaming bloody murder …you could hear him all across the whole estate.  Even the lads ran off and hid.”
“Ah, this may need the assistance of Rick.”
As if magically, said club manager suddenly appeared at TC’s elbow.  “What needs the assistance of Rick, T?”
All three were a bit startled when Magnum came bursting out of the door, running like the devil himself was on his heels, peeling off his Hawaiian shirt and throwing it carelessly on the ground as he raced pell-mell to the ocean, screaming bloody murder in …“Is that Arabic?”
“Hell, yeah.”  TC responded to Higgins.
“Must be a bad one.” Rick remarked.
“His shoulder…the stitches aren’t even out, yet.”  Juliet made to go after the man.
TC grabbed her arm and held her firmly in place.  “Don’t bother…you’re never going to be able to catch him, let alone stop him.”
“He’ll re-injure himself.”
“Probably…”  TC agreed, “but we’ll fix him back up.”
“The saltwater is going to hurt like hell.”
“Trust me…Thomas won’t even notice…until he gets back.”
“Back…where is he going to go?”  Higgins was getting frustrated. “Surely not the open ocean.  There are great whites out there…if he’s leaving a trail of blood he’s liable to wind up one of their lunches.”
Rick barked a laugh.  “I pity the poor shark that messes with TM when he’s moving like that.”
Magnum was swimming back and forth in the tidal pool area, increasing his speed and shortening the distance he travelled each time, shrinking his course into tight rapid circles.  He reminded Higgins of a Bengal tiger she had seen once at London Zoo, pacing within his enclosure into ever-shrinking circles.
Rick remarked to TC.  “He’s going to do it.”
“Oh, yeah.  Been I while since I’ve seen this trick.”
Suddenly Thomas surged up and plunged below the waves, still in the tidal pool area.
“He’s going to breach…”  Rick said, clearly anticipating something.
“Breach?  What? He’s a man, not a bleeding whale.”
“He’s a SEAL, Jules.”
Thomas came shooting out of the water, clearing the rock wall that separated the tidal pool from the ocean and heading straight out to sea from the estate.
“How in the hell?”  Higgins could hardly believe her eyes.
TC chuckled.  “Must have been a really bad one,” He remarked to Rick who nodded.
Theodore Calvin went on.  “Aquaman has nothing on our boy.”
“Another day and age and he would have made a hell of a cliff diver in Acapulco…” Rick replied.
Higgins shook her head.  “We should have stopped him.”
“Jules, if your head was in a bad place, would you let someone stop you from doing Yoga?”
Higgins looked at the Club Manager thoughtfully.
TC finished the thought. “The ocean is Thomas’ yoga, Jules.  It’s his Zen place, his Chi...”
“Thomas needs that more than anything else right now.”  Rick finished the thought definitively.

FOUR ELEMENTS
A little research into the origins of American political thought brings one to the fact that there are at least two or three overall approaches to how and from where those ideas and ideals come.  One school, represented among others by Daniel Elazar, Donald Lutz, and the Center for the Study of Federalism harkens to the role of local government.
A second school looks to the influence of classical thinkers such as those of ancient Greece and Rome.  Here, an example scholar is the historian and Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas E. Ricks. And yet a third school is a “bottom up” approach, that this writer considers to be a critical theory approach and is exemplified by Ray Raphael.  This blog supports and promotes the federalist approach of Elazar, et al. but suggests to interested readers that they should avail themselves to all three to attain a well-rounded exposure to the nation’s history.
Key to this federalist view is the identification and analysis of founding documents.  Lutz provides a thorough review of colonial documents in his edited book, Colonial Origins of the American Constitution.  In that volume, he presents eighty of those documents.  As is often the case, the federal strategy seems to find a compromise between those influenced by perennialism – a philosophy in education that good education consists of studying the classical thinkers – and those who look to the common folk, the bottom up approach, for what pushes social and political agendas.
In comparing the first two approaches, the more elitist, perennial approach and the federal view, Lutz writes,
… there are two constitutional traditions running through colonial documents. The first tradition can be found in the charters, letters-patent, and instructions for the colonists written in England.  In certain respects, the United States Constitution favors this tradition.  The second tradition is found in the covenants, compacts, agreements, ordinances, codes, and oaths written by the colonists themselves.  While the U.S. Constitution embodies aspects of this tradition as well, it is in the early state constitutions that we find the full flowering of this second tradition.[1]
With a bit of license, this writer sees this quote as indicating that while the influence from Europe – emanating from English elites and classical education – was real and of consequence, local American sources in their rule making provide a great deal of direction as to the practical, everyday concerns of the colonists.
And while official documents of early Americans, in part, were also written by well educated colonists, they had to live with the everyday reactions of their fellow companions in mostly frontier environments or small towns and cities. That is, the politics they faced were close and personal.  And, as background, those conversations were within certain parameters.
One, there was the perceived need to write basic laws and this seems to emanate from two traditional, legal/cultural movements.  And two, what was established by these early Americans had staying power and can readily be cited as part of the current situation of today.  They, therefore, came from, one, abroad and, two, from domestic sources.
From England, one had a written constitution, but it was a compilation of common law and legislative ordinances.  This was more or less stitched together and, to a degree, lacked definitive direction. The other tradition was the accepted practice of Americans writing out their own basic law made possible by the practical expectation that England could not rule them from far away as it ruled its citizens in England.
But in addition, there was one more factor to this second tradition.  Besides the practical inability of English government ruling Americans in the various colonies was the congregational tradition that the initial Puritanical settlers brought with them.  Not only were they disposed to writing foundational documents for their religious communities, but this practice seemed a natural mode of establishment for government as well.  And setting the tone for this was the original motivation to reestablish themselves in this new uninviting environment as they escaped another such environment.
That is, many of them made the trip to escape religious discriminatory practices in Anglican England.  Serving as an underlying factor was the hierarchical structure of the Anglican Church – headed by the monarch who replaced the Pope under Henry the VIII – and the horizontal, congregational structure of Puritanism.  This variance from traditional, centered religious structure had its effect on governance in general as being something to avoid.
And moving to this newer setting in America meant they could run their affairs as they saw fit.  Of course, a set of rules is still needed and that tradition of writing and expressing agreement with a covenant provided the method by which those rules were devised, argued, and agreed upon within the various congregations.  Lutz further writes,
… [They used] self-written covenants as part of their political definitions.  It is a very short step move to a blending of these two traditions wherein Americans would find themselves writing single, amendable documents constitutions.  The Pilgrim Code of Law, for example, begins by referring to both the charter from the king and the Mayflower Compact as its legal basis.[2]
And these foundational documents, according to Lutz, eventually had four recurring elements.
Element one is “the founding or creation of a people.” That is, a group identifies itself as having a combination of attributes or characteristics apart from other people and that that group decides to identify that fact and formerly announce to the world that it exists under that identification.  It can be based on an allegiance to a place, a set of ideas and/or values, and/or other cultural elements.  It is significantly more substantive than a fandom of some team or community; it has a wholeness that profoundly defines its members as in “we are Americans.”
Element two exists when such a transcendent declaration demands “the founding or creation of a government.”  When this is so, the foundational document provides for it. Apparently, John Locke points out the following distinction, that element one is a unanimous decision and, element two, establishing a government is a majoritarian agreement.
And these first two elements suggests a structured arrangement within such documents: first one identifies the people, “We the people of the United States…”, and then, after listing some reasons, states the origins of that people’s government, “,,, do ordain and establish this Constitution of the United States.”  But one asks:  this is a “constitution” of what?  And the answer is, of a government.
To further define matters, there is the third element, “the self-definition of the people in terms of shared values and goals so that the founded people may cross generation.”  That is, the document shares with the world on what basis this people define themselves. This is the origin of bills of rights that begin to appear in these constitutions, and they appear just after the declarations of elements one and two.  Unlike with the federal constitution, if one looks at state constitutions, one finds this order:  a people, an establishment of a government, and a statement of basic values.
And why not at the federal level?  Initially, the idea was that the Declaration of Independence already fulfilled this function.  But that was not good enough for those who had doubts about ratifying the constitution of 1787.  Its defenders promised that as the first order of business when the new Congress convened was to submit a bill of rights as amendments and that promise was kept.
And finally, the fourth element is “the specification of a form of government through the creation of institutions for collective decision making.” Interestingly, this term constitution is originally only applied to this fourth element of the document but through use it has now been ascribed to the whole document.
This later change is a bit unfortunate in that it leads people to miss the importance of the whole document being a compact and by so doing the miss the fact that it, the constitution, creates a partnership among its members and their posterity.  In addition, by pointing out these elements, one can compare any foundational document with other such documents.  For example, how do American institutions compare to those of other established governments and their people.
In terms of the US, those institutions would include popular elections, majority rule, minority rights, separation of powers, bicameralism, checks and balances, among others.  Along with these institutions are their accompanying structural features such as the executive, the legislative, and the judicial branches.
And this last bit of concern hints at what this blog will address next when these foundational documents are again taken up.  That will be the definition of key terms associated with these documents and their developments.  Eventually, the plan of this writer is to look at a sample of these early documents, and test the notion that early on Americans shared, as a dominant view, a federalist understanding of what governance and politics is and/or should be.
