I actually really encourage in general for people to take a new show, pick a day of the week, and watch one ep a week
Make it moment
You're sitting down with your favourite show and enjoying it
Really just take it slow and enjoy it and build up anticipation for what's to come
In fact?
Fuck it. 2024 I'm making my own schedule.
Monday - Star Trek (starting with TOS cause I never got very far into TOS as I was a TNG girlie as a kid)
Tuesday - New Terrible Show - TBD
Wednesday - Good Omens (starting from the beginning because I want to watch it again)
Thursday - day off because that's Taskmaster day when a season airs
Friday -Twin Peaks (never watched it, always kinda wanted to)
I am going to savour my shows
You want me to watch something new I have to find time in my schedule for it

Star Trek TOS S1 Ep6 - The Enemy Within
I'm back! It's been missed for quite a few weeks due to poor physical and mental health but I'm back!
Too bad it was this episode
It's just not my favourite. It's not the worst thing I've seen but not the best either
The story isn't a horrible concept but Shatner's acting was....variable to be kind and shit to be unkind.
Frankly it only ranked as high it did in some categories because of unicorn dog.
The sexual assault scene was difficult to watch. I understand it's place in the story and I appreciate how they handled it and how they were not at all depicting it was a positive thing. Still fucking hated it though
So saying that, the scores:
Story: 7/10 - it's a Jekyll and Hyde inspired story and the added pressure of the crew on the planet needing to be saved was a decent story line
Acting: 5/10 - it's this high because mainly the other actors didn't deserve such a low score
Cheese: 8.5/10 - UNICORN DOG. Also the moment evil Kirk in intense eyeliner first turned to the camera with dramatic lining was really funny. Evil Kirk had a lot of funny moments
Enjoyment: 3/10 - not my fav episode at all
Effects: 3/10 - they couldn't get a double that at least looked a little like Shatner?
Charm: 4/10 - all of that is Unicorn Dog
Cringe: -8/0 - that one scene was awful. Also why do all evil entities in the galaxy hit on that one Yeoman?
Aged Like Milk: -1/0 - mostly the lighting, acting and directing choices
Overall ranking:
C grade
All credit to the unicorn dog

look all i'm saying is if you give mash a chance with a very grounded sense of the time it was airing in and the pressures it was rebelling against and the brand-new trends it was setting, there will be a point, maybe a few episodes in or maybe a few seasons in, where you suddenly go "okay, yeah, i see why this show became such a popcultural juggernaut that the finale is STILL TO THIS DAY the most-watched tv show episode ever"

I'm only 3 weeks and a day into my retro-watching experiment thing and I have to say I have a couple of things I noticed already
1. Watching a show with someone else on a set day makes it so much more fun. Especially as we do the rating afterwards as we talk about the various things we liked and didn't from the show and generally discuss it. Plus it's joint thing to look forward to. I gave people the option to watch with me so they want to be there and it's just nice. Plus everyone watching is fully engaged and it's a shared experience. Not us all on our phones barely paying attention
2. Everyday has at least one thing about it that I am looking forward to and I get excited about the next episode. Even for the bad show (La Brea). This can get me the motivation to make lunch because I can watch that day's show while I eat. Since my mood is pretty low right now this is a big help in getting me motivated to get out of bed
3. It's giving me structure for my day and week. I plan things around that day's show or shows and I can more easily keep track of the days of the week which is something I struggle with sometimes since I don't work due to disability
I'm really enjoying this so far. Sometimes I have to miss episodes because of life but that's okay. I can pick it up again later
And I'm always watching a good percentage
Idk this is really giving me something just fun and positive to anchor myself to right now

Twin Peaks S1 Ep1 Pilot
I have never watched Twin Peaks or, in fact, anything by David Lynch before.
I knew enough to know it was a bit odd, that it was about the murder of Laura Palmer and that there was "Damn Fine Coffee"
When the pilot started my first thoughts in order were:
"What the fuck is up with the sawmill in the title sequence?"
"I remember being places that looked like this and also I remember all women having that perm. My mother had that perm in 1990."
"How am I going to judge the acting in this? In any other show the acting would be terrible but it fits the vibes wtf?"
The vibes were immediately different and what would have been hack acting was perfectly in keeping with the tone and camera work and music of the scene.
Everything felt just slightly uncanny and weird and I thought "Oh okay this is what people meant."
Then Agent Dale Cooper showed up.
What the absolute fuck is with this guy?
I love him, but also what the fuck is up with him?
And everyone else got like 20% weirder or more around him.
And what the FUCK was up with that one doctor?
It's also weird seeing this after watching a lets play of Alan Wake 2 because I got unreasonably excited about the Norwegians.
Also as a younger sibling Harriet is a true younger sibling.
"Yes I will cover for you!" *immediately spills all at the lightest pressure*
Saying that I liked it! I like the weirdness and uncanny nature of it all and I am suitably intrigued
Ratings:
Story: 6/10 - dragged a bit because the pilot is really long and the show is not fast paced, at least not in the pilot.
Acting: 7/10 - In any other show the acting on display would have been lower but here it fits and I can't explain why
WTF: 7/10 - I had surreal pencilled in for this category but WTF felt more accurate. It would have been a six but then Agent Cooper arrived. Just on him it would have been higher but I need room for the weirdness to go up
Enjoyment: 6.5/10 - I enjoyed it but it did also drag a bit
Effects: 5/10 - weren't really many effects other then Dead Laura makeup so I'm giving it a score that basically means its fine
Charm: 8/10 - I don't know what's happening, everything is weird and painfully 1990s but I do find a charm in this kind of weirdness
Cringe: 0/0 - no cringe
Aged Like Milk: 0/0 - nothing really stood out. Yes there is domestic violence hinted at and shown and general misogyny from some of the men but you're not supposed to be on board with that. At least in this episode
Overall Ranking:
B Tier
