RVB19 SPOILERS!!

I expected it through a mile even a lightyear, tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but with the company practically going to be deleted- it's like through their rush they forgot that s19 was continuing directly off the part where the reds and blues were ready to die together, then Red team later in the movie ditched caboose to be almost strangled to death by his possessed teammate and friend?? There is moments where I mildly laughed yeah but some of the serious scenes just didn't made me emotionally connect. I was vividly chanting in my head that there's no way they got rid of Sarge just like that, and I was in full belief that Sarge is gonna dig out of his grave any second now right? Right?? Also where's donut. Beamed when I saw Sheila but what about freckles? Grif is a private again?? What about his title as captain???? It all felt like some sort of unserious crack plot, and that's literally also rvb's entire thing and they failed at it. Had to admit, Tex coming back folded me backwards like a lawn chair in the best way possible, but again, is it just me or did the fight scene at the almost end felt like some sort of death battle video.

I'm more upset about the fact that everyone else had a mild reaction to Tucker as the Meta, I was so especially excited on what Carolina's and Wash's reaction would be to Tucker losing himself in the same process that took a friend away. The horror the devastating potential of Meta!Tucker, ended with an off screen joke, alright. Gonna cutely wait for the fix it fics to flood in soon enough.

Ramble, Bahamut Knight edition!

In my own little ffiv offshoot/au/whatever you wanna call it, I have different ideas for Kain. Ofc.

I politely and respectfully (against my will) dislike the Holy Dragoon getup. This idea initially stemmed from my dislike of the armor alone. However, the more I thought about it and as I actually played (and again, respectfully disliked) The After Years, the more the idea/concept developed.

Kain becoming a Holy Dragoon, to me, takes away from his whole spiel of “I didn’t kill off the dark parts of me, I just accepted them as part of me”. The gist of becoming a “Holy” anything is that the dark is completely purged, removed, eradicated— Kain explicitly does not “kill” his Dark Side, rather he absorbs it. The dark is there, but honed and harmonized. Of course, I don’t want this alteration or Bahamut’s involvement to detract from Kluya’s spirit recognizing Kain’s strength. I feel that that detail fiercely emphasized the bond Cecil and Kain share, for Cecil’s dead father to share power he’d once granted to his son to what I can only assume is another son figure for him. I do feel Kluya’s spirit’s involvement is a testimony to their brotherhood and devotion to one another.

I want to connect Kain to Bahamut, first and foremost. As the dragon god of the eidolons, Bahamut’s gotta know something or another about dragoons or, if we’re feeling pretentious, Mr. Highwind himself. Kain fights Lunar Bahamut during his Lunar Trial, and I want to build on that. A lot. Bahamut likely would’ve also known about the slaughter of dragoons and wyverns in the ffii storyline.

In my mind’s eye, I picture Kain defeating Dark Kain during his trial, Lunar Bahamut appearing and, upon its defeat, its scales flake off and the real Bahamut emerges like something of an odd cocoon. Hatching out of an egg, maybe. For symbolism.

(Alternatively, it would be neat for Bahamut to hatch out of an egg and parallel the last wyvern in ffii that baby Kain bonded with…but I digress)

Anyways, the real Bahamut appears in Kain’s trial. Ideally, Kain will have done a bit better in accepting the darker facets of his persona within my au given Thrush’s presence and therefore doesn’t feel the need to fuck off to Mt. Ordeals for ten years. Instead, Bahamut would appear at the end of Kain’s trial and, with Kluya’s lunarian spirit shrouding the room in some sort of magical aura, Bahamut commends Kain for his strength, resilience, and willpower. He offers to boost his strength and bestow upon him the capacity for black magic.

Kain, knowing the regality of the lunar dragon, kneels and accepts. Bahamut then inhales and unleashes a plume of flame onto the dragoon, enveloping him in a biblical cleansing flame. Once Bahamut’s breath flickers out, Kain stands in a brand new suit of armor with a new weapon fitting nicely in his hand.

“Now,” Bahamut begins, his draconic voice emanating from every corner of the room. “I declare you the Lance of Bahamut.”

Kain, as a Bahamut Knight, now possesses the ability to use black magic. He may not bolster tier 3 attack spells, and as a matter of fact, he might utilize black magic in the same way that Cecil uses white. They may lack the most useful spells that Rosa and Rydia harbor, but they make great backups and can still wail out physical damage. Kain, now with Abel’s Trident, finds that his Jump ability has been replaced with Dive Bomb, a skill that when used, adds a selected elemental charge to Kain’s jump while also increasing the damage output. He withstands magic attacks a bit better and is still a deadly quick fighter.

The development of Kain into a Bahamut Knight rather than the Holy Dragoon makes more sense in my mind as it truly does encapsulate the acceptance and control of his inner darks. It is the honing of the very facets of his persona and channeled into carving a path to his future and fully restoring his honor and dignity.

doing some thinking about health and mental health and grief and all those things one thinks about from time to time, and you know, one thing i really can't escape is that the absolute worst thing i can ever do for my own mental health is look at a thing and always assume bad intention. or a lack of care. or any other thing that suggests a conscious negativity. minor inconveniences and petty tribulations aren't evil, they're just the world being differently shaped. yes there are many bad things, structurally and socially, but... not everything is. and for every shite person in a space, there are just as many people doing good things, trying to make the world better, performing tiny acts of kindness and just generally being decent. in fact, i'd say there are more of them than there aren't.

i had a para here explaining why i have been thinking about this, but actually i don't need to explain it or owe an explanation for it. the conclusion is i'm getting tired out from people assuming the worst of everything and everyone all of the time, so that is basically where i'm at. i'm tired of the choice of activity being to tear down instead of build up.

i'm gonna try, i think, to figure out how to make this into a workable boundary. i want to uplift and be uplifted. this isn't to say i won't talk about the hard stuff, the heavy stuff. i welcome being a support to my friends. but i want to start all my days from a place of believing that the world has a core that is good and our job is to find it over and over and over.

They've been doing this for years but it still never gets old.

The clunk of the window opening echo in their quiet townhouse and he smiles. The weight of heavy, tired footsteps thump against the floorboards, growing louder as they get closer. He holds his arms open as the vigilante more or less falls into them, wrapping around him like weighted blanket. It's not the most comfortable hug in the world, the press of texture and hard armor puts pressure on both of them, his cape's hard material creases unnaturally under his lover's arms, and his lover feels the grooves of his gloves dig into his back.

But that doesn't matter. It's warm and safe. It means that he's alive and home. The vigilante reluctantly pulls back from the hug and the love of his life cups his face in his hands, wiping the grime of the city away with his thumb. He traces the outline of the domino mask until he reaches the corners. He grabs them and gently peels the mask from his face to reveal those familiar cerulean blue eyes.

"There's my boy wonder."

According to a post in r/ModCoord (moderator coordination), moderators of r/MildlyInteresting moved forward on Tuesday with changing the sub to NSFW after a user vote.

However, according to the now-former r/MildlyInteresting mod that wrote the post, just after they switched the subreddit over, they were logged out of their account and locked out. It quickly became clear that Reddit-employed administrators (as opposed to the mods, who don’t work for Reddit) were involved:

Following this, another mod posted our update instead. Right after, the u/ModCodeofConduct [a Reddit admin account] account removed the post and flipped the sub back to restricted instead of public. Then, the second moderator was also logged out of their account and locked out. Other mods tried to re-approve the post, one of them was promptly logged out and locked out as well.
