I think it looks better as resin, as eye shadow I thought it made me look like I had 2 black eyes lol. I like how it changes colour in the light. Da ich ein Technik-Freak bin und auf kombinieren und experimentieren stehe, hat mich das Projekt 8 in dem Buch „Resin Geode Art“ von @mrs.colorberry total eingenommen. Mixen, gießen, trocknen lassen, zerschlagen, erneut mixen und gießen - einfach fantastisch. Damit ich das Projekt in der mir vorschwebenden Größe umsetzen konnte, musste ich mir eine Form herstellen. Ein Experiment bei dem ich viel gelernt habe. Das Ergebnis hat mich begeistert, doch die Unterseite meiner Platte und die Ränder waren nach dem Lösen aus der Form zum Teil uneben und scharfkantig sowie ein wenig matt. Ich habe mich dann entschieden die Platte zu schleifen. So konnte ich das gleich mal ausprobieren und sehen, wie und was mit Schleifen aus dem Resin herauszuholen ist. Ich kann nur sagen es hat sich gelohnt. Alles was man über das Schleifen von Resin wissen muss, hat @stefanieetter in ihrem Buch „Resin Kunst“ wunderbar beschrieben. Es brauchte neben den Schleifmaterialien nur ein wenig Geduld, um ein tolles Ergebnis zu erzielen. Jetzt muss ich nur noch den passenden Fuß finden, damit die Platte zum Tisch wird. These pieces, inspired by Kandinsky's "Several Circles" (1926) have taken me a while to finish, and I learnt a lot. They were a lot of work, but it's nice to have them finished. They have shapes set in resin, inlaid dots and lines, applied pieces - all cast and sanded and polished by me. ⭐️Sound on⭐️ In this final installment of working with Gamblin’s cold wax medium on watercolor paper, I talk about the results. You can see that this was successful! 😀 Using the wax medium on the surface helped from making the resin soak into the paper. Also, putting an acrylic paint back helped keep the chips stiff. Finally put this necklace together. What started as me playing around with iridescent powders and clear resin, inspired by vintage "soap bubble" jewellery, progressed to me buying a "bubble" mould on Etsy. Only it wasn't bubbles, it was Mickey Mouse heads! Of course you can't sell non-official Mickey Mouse things as Mickey Mouse things, because Disney have lawyers, they are sold as other things - so silly old me accidentally made some iridescent Mickey Mouse-shaped bubbles. Much experimentation with orbs, sanding techniques, construction techniques, glue, and laser cut iridescent perspex circles later... I lost all motivation, and the components sat on my desk for months. The resin jewellery crafting continues. This necklace came out really well! It’s a new mould, and I used my new Hemway gold pigment powder and some holographic glitter. I didn’t have gold jump rings, so silver had to do!

Still here, still making jewellery. I think this one looks like a swirly banana. It was my first attempt at setting pins into this shape as it cured (rather than screwing them in afterwards), and seeing if I could cure it resting over something so it has a slightly curved shape which is a bit easier to wear. Success on both counts!

So when you pour resin onto paper that doesn’t have a protective layer on top, the resin tends to soak into the paper. Kind of transforms the make up of the paper. It also makes your paintings looks “wet”. After a lot of research I found some artists use a wax medium to seal in their watercolors. Now! I don’t feel many have shown whether you can pour resin on top of this seal and achieve keeping your painting fresh. Of course, using high quality watercolor paper would work the best, but I’m going to stick with what I’ve got. ☀️ Here I’ll bring you a series on this experiment to show if it works or not. Behold! The Kandinsky colour theory pieces. Inspired by illustrations and sections in "Concerning the spiritual in art" (1912). These pieces have handmade resin shapes set within swirled black and white resin, which is then sanded and polished.
