Why did Ch'en drop in the CN popularity poll when her alter is more powerful than her original?
Ch'en the Holungday was widely criticized by CN players when she was revealed because they were afraid that this would mark precedent for them releasing busted, tone deaf summer/holiday alts. I agree with CN.
Ch'en the Holungday is extremely busted, and not in the fun way: She's an M3 operator, that is, you only need to invest in one of her skills as opposed to two or three in order to get the most out of her, as all of her skills are pretty much the Exact Same with each skill just being outright better than the last one (this is very lazy design coming from a team that's known and praised for giving new 6*s at least 2 interesting and key skills).
Besides that, it's Ch'en, a character that has a lot of lore and that they could've done a lot more with, getting saddled with a bikini alt instead of something interesting. The summer fit could've easily just been a skin for either Guard Ch'en or whatever else they could've done with Holungday. It instead became her identity: A girl in a bikini with a water gun that completely outclasses proper combat-ready Operators in terms of firepower. It's just silly for a game that takes its lore and design as seriously as Arknights.
"But wait," you may say, "the Dossoles event explains this and that about her and the water gun and--", to be frank, all of that rings as hollow as "you see, it's VERY important for Silent to be almost naked at all times, it's essential to the lore", that is, just because a lore justification exists for something, doesn't mean it's a good one nor that it has to be accepted point blank without criticism. It's not good writing. It's a disservice to the character and to the fans.
Additionally, the original E2 art for Ch'en was low quality, with wonky proportions. She has since been fixed, but people will continue to dunk on it forever, as its become something of a meme.
So, to summarize, you end up with a tone deaf bikini Operator that is stupidly strong, brainlessly so even (even Surtr takes rubbing two braincells together at the very last, and she's as unga bunga as it gets) that requires minimum investment to absolutely wreck and that takes away a valuable opportunity from a character that is widely loved among fans, and at the moment, also served as a sort of harbinger of ill news in that if she was well received, Hypergryph might have gone ahead and made more tone deaf brainless gamebreakers and we just become Fire Emblem Heroes 2.

🔥 anime
Uhhhh is "people getting up in arms about anime being uniquely bad when it includes stuff like incest or nudity as if people didn't fucking love Game of Thrones for including incest and nudity - with much less controversy - are legitimately just racist" still a hot take
probably right
so yeah that one
(also "just in general treating anime as if it's a genre and not a medium - or really just the work out of one country in a broader medium - and overgeneralizing from there are like... not being overtly racist but there's something bad there too")

WIP Whenever
I have no descriptions or real writing done, but I have dialogue for 1 scene blocked out and dialogue for 1-3 other scenes half done for a dreamling fic... I worry that by the time I get to it, it'll all have been done before and I'll look very silly. Even so, I thought I'd share blocked dialogue for the 2nd, 3rd or 4th scene depending on how much of the others I intend to keep. It would be for a second meeting between Dream and Hob, or, the first one after the latest one in the n*tflix series. A meeting where Dream has prepared himself to risk something-like-honesty. They are outside the New Inn, Dream arriving just as Hob's about to go inside.
661 words. maybe rated T.
Dream: Evening, old friend.
Hob: Good evening, Dream.
Dream: I am glad you hadn't forgotten.
Hob: I could never.
Dream: Hob Gadling. I missed you, during my long absence. I watched a friend die. I watched the world crumble and my powers fade. I thought of our meeting, as selfish as that was of me, when—
Hob: Dream, friend, you're ahead of yourself.
Dream: That I am. And our locale is inappropriate. [blocking a doorway]
Hob: [gesturing to the door] Do you want to find a table?
Dream: The alternative is your apartment?
Hob: Doesn't have to be.
[a long pause where Hob wishes he'd said anything else]
Dream: Lead the way.
[at the apartment]
Hob: I can still get you a drink? [pouring himself something]
Dream: No, thank you. I fear I had quite a feast not too long ago. [this is extremely relative]
Hob: Really? You?
Dream: Food from my realm. It replenishes me to a far greater degree than anything I might find … here.
Hob: Your realm. [an acknowledgement]
Dream: Have I unsettled you? Despite your immortality, you are still human, Hob Gadling. There are meant to be boundaries between us. Bridges uncrossed and mysteries unexplored. I will skirt the lines of several rules to speak with you in terms that honour our friendship… Which is something else that risks us both.
Hob: Dream. If there is anyone for whom I would risk myself for, my life, my reputation, my soul. I owe you over six hundred years of human experience, and every moment we have shared between them. I have learned to trust your judgment. Even, or perhaps especially when I've felt slighted. Even if you're a demon—
Dream: No.
Hob: Or seek to one day devour me—
Dream: [firmly, nearly offended] No.
Hob: [dismissing this to ease its weight] No matter. [an oath] I will not balk, nor turn from you, even were I unsettled. I cherish our friendship, and I value you. Trust that I can hear all you have to say. That I can carry the weight of whatever you tell me.
Dream: You humble me. That isn't easy.
Hob: Christ, I know.
Dream: I am Endless. Dream is only one of many names. It is what I am called, and who I am, as much as it is my purpose. I am the manifestation of every dream of every creature in all of creation since the dawn of time. I am the King of Dreams, the Prince of Stories, Lord of the Nightmare Realm, and yet others. [a long pause] And while I have taken mortal lovers in the past, I have never made a friend of a human. I worried it signalled a weakness in me, though it was not this weakness which was exploited most recently.
Hob: With responsibilities such as you described I can hardly fault you for … your diligence.
Dream: [amused, bordering on self-depreciating, intuiting what Hob avoided] You would not be remiss to mention my ego or my self importance.
Hob: [still serious] But it's not only that, is it? Kings and Lords are in positions of leadership. [teasing a little] I am not beyond acknowledging that you likely hold importance beyond self importance. [calmer] That you have duties and subjects, perhaps even wars?
Dream: Your grace is unexpected.
Hob: [dismissive] Dream. I'm only a man.
Dream: [insistent in his wonder] Humans are unique beyond measure. And you are stranger still. With motivations and curiosities that defy prediction. You risk to derail me.
Hob: [delighted] Apologies, Dream. Do go on.
Dream: My elder sister, Death, it was she who took yours from you. That gift was never in my power. [resigned] Worse than Johanna Constantine came looking for it. I was captured, stripped of relics of my power, and clothing besides, and kept in a crystal prison in the home of Roderick Burgess for some decades. My realm decayed. The sleeping sickness manifested. My subjects left.
Hob: Slow— Slow down a moment.

everytime I've quit the game since the Veilbreaker update, it's reset my UI theme to the default Vitruvian (my selected theme is Tenno).
I'm sure this is the kinda the thing that should have a bug report, but I'm not sure how, exactly, to submit it? (like, i know the site, just not sure how i should put it)
has anyone else on Xbox (or any platform, really) had this?
