Ephraim's Iniquity
"Whenever I want to heal Israel, all I can see is Ephraim's sin and Samaria's wickedness. People cheat each other. They break into houses and steal. They rob people in the streets.
They don't realize that I remember all the evil things they've done. Now their sins surround them. Their sins are in my presence.
"They make kings happy with the wicked things they do. They make officials happy with the lies they tell.
They all commit adultery. They are like a heated oven, an oven so hot that a baker doesn't have to fan its flames when he makes bread.
On the day of the king's celebration, the officials become drunk from wine, and the king joins mockers.
They become hot like an oven while they lie in ambush. All night long their anger smolders, but in the morning it burns like a raging fire.
They are all as hot as an oven. They consume their judges [like a fire]. All their kings die in battle, and none of them calls to me.
"Ephraim mixes with other nations. Ephraim, you are like a half-baked loaf of bread.
Foreigners are using up your strength, but you don't realize it. You have become a gray-haired, old man, but you don't realize it.
Israel, your arrogance testifies against you, but even after all this, you don't turn to the LORD your God or look to him for help.
Ephraim, you are like a silly, senseless dove. You call for Egypt and run to Assyria for help.
When you go, I will spread my net over you. I will snatch you out of the air like a bird. I will punish you for all the evil things you have done.
"How horrible it will be for these people. They have run away from me. They must be destroyed because they've rebelled against me. I want to reclaim them, but they tell lies about me.
They don't pray to me sincerely, even though they cry in their beds and make cuts on their bodies while praying for grain and new wine. They have turned against me.
I trained them and made them strong. Yet, they plan evil against me.
They don't return to the Most High. They are like a defective bow. Their officials will die in battle because they curse. The people in Egypt will ridicule them for this. — Hosea 7 | God's Word Translation (GWT) The Holy Bible, God’s Word® Translation Copyright 1995 by God’s Word to the Nations. All rights reserved. What Does Paul Say About Ministries?
**The end result (fulfilment) of our labour/work of preaching the good news is to see souls saved (the reconciling of lost men to God), and Saints edified (the reconciling of their ministries to God). Acts 12:24-25But the word of God grew and multiplied. And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark. **We…

"Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will REPROVE the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged." John 16:7-11, KJV "For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light . . . And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather REPROVE them." #DailyDevotion God Does Not Give Up On His Wicked People Without A Fight Psalm 50 16But God tells the wicked: "What business is it of yours to recite My laws and talk about My covenant? 17You hate to be corrected, and toss My words behind you. 18When you see a thief, you want to be with him and share the life of adulterers. 19You let your mouth talk evil, and your tongue plans deceit. 20You sit and talk against your brother, slandering your own mother's son. Just who are these wicked people God is talking to? His own holy people. These are the people He has chosen from all the people in the world to be His own people. Yet as we see, they are not acting like God's people. Well they have a veneer of being God's people. That is why He asks them, "What business is it of yours to recite My laws and talk about My covenant?” These people have the appearance and even the sound of God's people but they do not have faith in the LORD. They do not fear, love and trust in Him. They talk all the time about God's commandments. They talk about His covenant. But when the rubber hits the road, it's like nothing they forget everything they said. The LORD charges them with seeing a thief and adulterers and then going and joining them instead of rebuking, reproving and correcting them. These are just examples. Their mouths talk evil and tongues plan deceit. They talk against their brother. Family really means nothing to them. They themselves mean everything to themselves. Do you Christian do this? Do you talk a good game around your fellow Christians but then go and join wicked doers when you see them? Do you lie, cheat and steal? Do you honor your mother and father? In what ways would the LORD be addressing you today? Think about it. Confess it. Turn back to the LORD Jesus Christ and His ways. 21You do this, and should I say nothing? You plan to destroy; should I be like you? I will correct you and lay it before your eyes. 22Consider this, you who forget God, or I'll tear you in pieces and no one will rescue you. The book of Hebrews says in chapter 10, “29How much worse a punishment do you think he will deserve who tramples on God's Son, treats as an unholy thing the blood of the testament that made him holy, and insults the Spirit of grace? 30We know Him Who said: 'I have the right to punish: I will pay back,' and again: “The Lord will judge His people.” 31It is terrifying to fall into the hands of the living God.” God does not ignore the sins of His people. He does not ignore your sins. He sees what you are doing and not confessing as sin. He sees you turning away from Him and towards worldly pleasures. Do you think He is going to let you go without a fight? God will correct you. He will discipline you so don't completely fall away. However, should you refuse His discipline and set your heart on the ways of the world destruction awaits you. 23If you bring your thanks as a sacrifice, you can honor Me. If you set your life in order, I will have you drink your fill of God's salvation.” Here our LORD Jesus Christ shows us the love and mind of God. He does not want us to perish. He does not want us to suffer for all eternity. He wants to accept you back into His life. The Father has given us Jesus as the atoning sacrifice for our sin. He is here calling us to offer thanksgiving for the repentance and salvation He offers us freely. Faith then begets right living. As we thirst for righteousness, He has us drink our fill of God's salvation. Merciful God and Father, grant us repentance of life that we may turn from the world and turn to You and Your Son Jesus Christ with repentance and faith so we may drink of Your salvation. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Read the full article
