Nacida el año 1961 como respuesta a la "2 CV" de Citroën, el Renault 4, popularmente conocido como “Renoleta”, recibirá una actualización de carrocería en 1968, ocasión en que adopta una nueva transmisión de 4 velocidades (3 al momento del estreno), mientras que a nivel estético se identificará por un renovado frontal, dotada de una máscara cromada integrada a los faros, con el “Rombo” de la marca posicionado hacia un costado de la parrilla.

En Chile, en tanto, en la ciudad de Arica, se ensamblarán las primeras 200 unidades durante 1964, las que aumentarán a 350 en 1965. Luego de un receso, en 1968 se retoma la producción con 57 unidades, las que aumentarán a 1.117 en 1969 (Renault 4L), motor 845 cc de 30 CV.

A partir de 1970 se inicia su ensamblaje en la ciudad de Los Andes (Renault 4S), la que para 1981 superará las 14 mil unidades....

Blast from the past. I had a #renault4 model I found in the garden in an extremely poor state, regardless of that it actually looked pretty cool as it was so I wanted to find a project for it. While I was figuring that out an identical model came up for sale, it was missing its bootlid but they older ruined model still had it's boot lid which was promptly transferred to the 'better' model, this was sanded and painted, replaced the steering wheel and made some seat covers.
