ABOUT THE CHARACTER

Personality

 Remus has always been impossibly kind, and undeniably trustworthy. He’s more resilient than most, and he uses it not only for his own sake but for others as well. He is the definition of adamantine. More than just that, he’s clever, in both strategy and his words.

 However, Remus is also fervent and it’s that intense passion that can make him difficult now and again. There were times that it turned into something like righteousness. On the flip side, Remus has a tendency to curl in on himself. His insecurities undeniably get the worst of him sometimes.

School

They went to HOGWARTS and belong in GRYFFINDOR. Remus was sorted into Gryffindor without any hesitation from the hat. Though he didn’t stray from his friends for the first couple years, he did end up joining activities later on. He became a tutor rather early in his Hogwarts years. He joined the video game club in his third year, and later the potions club. In his later years, he was inducted into the SlugClub. He made prefect his 5th and 6th year, but was actually grateful to see James take on the responsibility of Head Boy his last year. 

Bio

Lyall Lupin forever changed the course of his son’s life with a couple of ill placed words in the heat of the moment. Five years old and Remus would always be haunted by what happened the night he was changed into a werewolf. No amount of time, acceptance, or family therapy was able to fully heal his wounds from that night. It got better for a while, but then his father left with a letter expressing his greatest apologies and explaining that the guilt was too much to take. Remus stayed in his Mum’s bed that night, and when she asked him to promise that he’d never turn into a coward like his father, he did so without so much as a breath of hesitation.

Eleven was an important birthday for every magical child, but for Remus it was unbelievably life changing. Not only was he accepted to Hogwarts, he was actually going to be able to go. On the train he met a group of boys, ones who promised to stick by his side, and the nerves he had started to dissipate. Remus felt like maybe things were starting to change for him. When he got sorted into Gryffindor, he was nothing but proud, especially when he sat down among all of his new friends. He wrote home that night to tell his Mum that he got into the bravest house there is; he’s going to keep his promise.

Remus was terrified when his best friends found out that he was a werewolf, but arguably he was more relieved than anything. Not having to lie to them every month was refreshing. However, a new wave of terror and a fresh one of awe washed over him as he heard their plans of becoming animagus. Thirteen and he couldn’t believe he had friends that were willing to risk this for him. It was hard to hate himself when he had a Mum that loved him wholeheartedly and friends that would risk just about anything to bring him an ounce of peace. Running each moon with a stag, dog, and a rat made it almost bearable, and at the very least, allowed him to stay grounded.

Which was why he'd been utterly betrayed when their routine had been broken by Severus, and he realized that he’d been betrayed by one of his own. Remus had felt that fragile thread of good start to fray. During the aftermath, he spent less time in his dorm and more time branching out, trying to avoid the awkwardness. It took him some time, but eventually he came to understand the situation in its entirety. From there, he was able to forgive Sirius for all of it. Though it took time, they eventually got back to what they were.

Right out of Hogwarts, Remus joined the Order without batting an eye. Even as a child, Remus understood that he had to fight for his existence, and fight he would. Remus wasn’t going to give anyone the satisfaction of seeing him fail. Still, he continuously rose above. He went on to study the intricacies of magic and muggle relations. When he got the job as the head librarian of the London Magical Library Institute, he was thrilled. It allowed him to not only continue his research, but to also update and fully advance it into the 21st century; bringing in the technological advances that it needed.

On the side, Remus did hacking for the Order, as well as app developing. The Marauder’s Map was just the beginning for them, and he knew that there was so much more that could be done now that the technology was there. As such, Remus did all that he could to develop it for the Order’s uses.

what we all know: Growing up is hard enough, let alone adding in the trials of being a werewolf. The attack happened what when Remus was a kid, but he actually took it in stride. He knew it was going to be a struggle but never let it stop him. Dumbledore helped him get into Hogwarts and he was sorted into Ravenclaw house. No one knew about his secret, but he had to admit that a lot of them were suspicious. One night he found a fellow student who had been bitten and felt obligated to help him, teaching him everything he could need to know about being a werewolf. That was how he became friends with James Potter, and now the two of them are working together in order to stop those who attacked them.

JAMES POTTER - Remus never thought he would actually know someone who had the same condition he did. However, when he found James, he did what he could to help him. Somehow that whole experience ended up bringing them closer and are now close friends. He isn’t sure what they will do when they meet who attacked them, but he’s willing to help his friend out.

FENRIR GREYBACK - The man who made Remus what he is. The attack happened when he was young and Remus was never the same. Even though he accepted his fate, Remus hopes that he might find him one day and deliver the justice he believes is deserved.

DORCAS MEADOWS - A close friend Remus has always had was Dorcas. They met when they had just start going to Hogwarts and have been friends since. It’s always been easy to talk to her and he enjoys his time with her better than anyone. She’s the only one outside of his family, James, and Dumbledore that knows his secret.

RUMOR HAS IT… This quiet soul is hiding a huge secret. Could even say the secret is as big as the moon. Remus has always been one of the more reserved members of the marauders, but he never is too shy to tell his friends when they are doing something stupid. Definitely the only one with any real brains within the group of boys, this little moon child is sure to keep his distance from people and keep his secret close to his heart. Can he really trust that his secret will never see the light? 

A BRISK SPRING EVENING: born to hope and lyall lupin on march 10th, 1960, remus john lupin was a happy and problem-less child; he hardly cried, never posed his parents any problems and often slept soundly. the family were happy. the lupin household peaceful. for the first four years. barely four years old, remus lupin slept peacefully in his bed, as he often did. the breakage of a window, their childs’ pained cries. the lupins’ awoke, and lyall ran to check on their son. that night, werewolf fenrir greyback broke into the lupin home and attacked their boy, inflicting him with the lycanthropy that he himself had. the werewolf curse. a payback against lyall , for labeling greyback a monster, worthy of only death. now his son was the very monster lyall so hated. a perfect revenge. the family visited healer upon healer, desperate for a cure, for their son back to normal. but coming up empty at every turn.

THE NEXT FULL MOON: still merely a child, four years of age, abandoned alone in the cellar, chained to the wall. confused and afraid. bad emotions for a werewolf to feel before a shift. you see, the wolf harnesses whatever emotions it’s host is feeling, and acts in accordance. negative emotions equate to a bad shift, leaving child remus lupin screaming in agony as bones break and rejoin and the wolf takes over. his parents away from the scene, hope lupin crying, her heartbreak over her broken son evident, wanting nothing more than to help him, but being unable. when he came to in the morning, remus sported fresh scars, cuts and bruises that he knew, even then, would never fade. a constant reminder. his parents had explained it all, the night of the attack, but the boy now understood the severity of his situation. he’d have no friends, no relationships. they were too much of a risk. he wouldn’t go outside of his home to play with the other children, he’d stay inside, read his books and have his schooling from home.

HOGWARTS: remus had thought that he’d have to pass on his hogwarts invitation, posing far too much of a threat to the other poor witches and wizards in attendance and far too afraid to ever hurt anyone. but headmaster dumbledore had reassured him and his parents that precautions were already in place. select teachers were aware of his condition and on the full moon he would be taken to a shack just outside of the hogwarts grounds, with special precautions in place to prevent trespassers an enclosed area with no way out, perfect for keeping the wolf in and away from everyone. his parents had allowed it, after some convincing of his dad on his mothers’ part, and the september following his eleventh birthday saw remus heading off to his first year at hogwarts. sitting in a far off compartment, book in hand and eyes glued to the pages, alone until he was not. accompanied by another boy, shy seeming, but friendly. peter pettigrew. both remus and his new found friend were sorted into gryffindor house, where they caught the attention of two seemingly loud and rambunctious first years. remus easily befriended them, and two quickly became four. remus told his three friends that his mum was deathly ill, explaining his monthly disappearances as visits to his home to see her. but by his second year at hogwarts, they had figured out the truth. afraid and panicked, remus was assured by all three boys that it wouldn’t affect their friendship. he feels indebted to them for not abandoning him, his fear of being abandoned less of one now that he still had them. FIFTH YEAR, james potter, sirius black and peter pettigrew dragged him into the forest, proudly showing off their new animal forms. disbelief struck. they had illegally become animagi in order to help him through his monthly ordeals. james, a stag. sirius, a black dog, and peter a rat. the four quickly adapted their new nicknames, labeling themselves the marauders, and the full moon became less of a chore and more something to look forward to. the pain still unbearable, but easier to deal with thanks to his friends’ company.

THE PRANK: the morning after the full moon was always one filled with pain and remus would often find himself overwhelmed with a wave of exhaustion and aches in his bones. but this time there had been something else, a thought stuck at the forefront of his mind: did i hurt someone ? it felt different, for the first time since he’d began being accompanied by the marauders, he was worried that something had gone wrong. it was a gut feeling, one he couldn’t shake. it had been professor dumbeldore that had informed him of what had happened: severus snape had happened upon the shrieking shack, witnessing the end of remus’ shift into the wolf. his heart dropped into his stomach, but before he could assume the worst, he was assured that snape was fine, sworn to secrecy and wouldn’t be telling anybody, and that he had been saved from any attack by james. though it was the news that followed that shocked him most. that it had been sirius, one of his best friends, that had taken it upon himself to tell snape how he could get into the shack. he felt utterly betrayed. he had never wanted his friends to know the truth about him, he’d tried desperately to keep that part of himself hidden. the part he so despised. yet they had found out, and he had been relieved; relieved to not have to lie to them, to not have to hide anymore. he had been foolish to trust that they would keep it hidden, that they truly thought nothing of it. and yet he had been made to be seen as a monster, like he already feared it was. one of the people he was closest to had treated him like a means for a petty revenge scheme, used him like a wand, all to get to snape for whatever reason. it hurt to think about. he was unconditionally loyal to his friends, grateful to them for not abandoning him and not treating him like the monster he believed himself to be. remus lupin has always had an immense respect towards his friends, even putting up with their incessant bullying when he didn’t agree with it, for them. perhaps that had been a mistake. he finds himself wondering now if they ever truly felt the same for him as he does for them. he’s unsure of what to do now, feeling the heavy tension between the group and knowing he’s part of the reason behind it. but betrayal is a hard thing to forgive and forget.

THE ATTACKER: the ministry fallen, voldemort in control. it’s the worst thing imaginable for anybody with a heart, and given the already terrible attitude against werewolves like himself, remus was terrified. the only werewolves truly safe were the ones on voldemorts’ side; he’d kill any others, his blood purist, racist ideals extending to half-breeds. the only one truly safe, that remus could recall, was one fenrir greyback. the very monster that had turned him into one to, for his petty revenge. there is nobody in the world that remus holds hatred for as much as greyback, tied alongside he who must not be named himself. remus had been an innocent boy when the curse had been inflicted upon him. he had done nothing wrong and wasn’t deserving of such a horrible life-altering change. he had despised his dad for the first few years, blaming lyall for his attack. if he hadn’t lashed out against werewolves fenrir greyback would have felt no need to infect his son, and yet he had. FEAR wasn’t an emotion he felt often in relation to another person, but if there were one person remus was truly afraid of, it would be greyback. and with him in line with the dark lord, who had just taken down the ministry, trouble was most definitely heading his way.

JAMES POTTER, SIRIUS BLACK, PETER PETTIGREW – His three best friends, his most trusted advisors, there’s nothing that Remus wouldn’t do for his friends. However, their dynamic has been especially estranged since the ‘incident’ at the Whomping Willow. Sirius could have made him a killer in his heated need for getting one-up on Severus, he can’t help but think in the back of his mind that none of the boys respect him as much as he does them.

FENRIR GREYBACK – The man who made him the monster that he is, there’s a loathing for Fenrir that’s unparalleled, the strongest emotion he’s ever felt. If he’d come face to face with the man on the battlefield there’s no telling just how far Remus would go.

SEVERUS SNAPE – There’s no way that Severus could have known it was him in the werewolf body and yet there’s a voice in the back of his mind telling him otherwise. If the man does know his secret he’s yet to spill it but paranoia keeps him on his toes, waiting for something that he hopes never comes.

Bright moon against a dark sky. A pint with friends. Books spread across a table. Fur moving in the wind. Woods. Smell of old books. Comfortable trench coats. Red plaids. Messy brown hair. The silence of a library. Strength of those around you. The laughs of a easy night. Fear of what’s coming. The light of learning something new. Storm from a monster brewing inside. Crimson. Chocolate. Late night adventures. Support of family. Gold. Memories that last forever. Acceptance of who people are. 

Remus was born the son of a wizard and a muggle. Both his mother and father were quiet and kind people. They didn’t bother anyone in any way, nor were they bothered when someone asked for some help. People had always said such nice things about the Lupin’s, however, even the nicest people can make terrible judgment calls. For Remus’ father, Lyall Lupin, the terrible judgment called happened in court one day when he was face to face with Fenrir Greyback. There was just something about the man that didn’t seem right, no matter the lies that he had been telling the rest of the court. The frustration that Lyall had towards the situation grew before it finally escalated into the same type of judgmental words that someone might think about werewolves. Once the situation had been over, Lyall thought that everything might be okay. Little did he know that not only were his suspicions right, but Fenrir was the worst werewolf to piss off. It wasn’t until a few days later, possibly to give the Lupin’s some false sense of security, that Fenrir made his attack. Remus had been fast asleep in his bed, just like every other almost five-year-old, when suddenly he felt an excruciating amount of pain and started into a scream. Opening his eyes, he didn’t recognize the being next to him and he tried to squirm or do something, but Fenrir was just too strong, and Remus too young. Lyall heard the commotion and ran to his son’s aid as quickly as he could. It took a lot of fight and some very strong spells to get Fenrir out of his house, but he was only glad that he saved his son. The bite marks that Remus know had only told his father one thing, that while he had been successful in saving his son's life, he wasn’t as successful in keeping him human.

Some would say from that moment on, fear had taken over Remus’ parents more than they had Remus, for Remus was only a child and didn’t fully understand how people felt about those like him. Like most children, Remus believed that when you meet someone, there shouldn’t be judgment right away because you don’t know them. While he wasn’t wrong, it just wasn’t how the world worked, especially if you were a werewolf. For the rest of Remus’ childhood, he was forced to move from place to place because his parents started to become a little worried when people began to notice that something was odd about Remus. They began to notice his patterns, and his father didn’t want someone coming after his son. Remus however just wanted to have some friends of his own. He wanted the chance to stay in one place and maybe make some friends that were the same age as him. While his parents understood this need, they didn’t agree with it. There was too much danger in him potentially telling people what he was for him to spend time with other kids. Remus felt like this was going to be his life forever, spent hiding away from people, until his family was visited by a wizard named Albus Dumbledore. It took a little work on Dumbledore’s part, but he was able to ease the worries of Remus’ parents and convince them that it would be okay for Remus to go to Hogwarts. He told them that there were already precautions taken in the form of a shack in Hogsmede where Remus could spend his week of transformation. Even though they were still reluctant to let him go, they agreed to try it out, only hoping for the best.

Remus was thrilled to be going to school because not only was this his chance to spend time with kids his own age, but even a chance for him to prove that he was more than his condition. Possibly even make a better name for werewolves. On the train, he kept to himself a bit, not wanting to try and draw too much attention. Even though he was excited, he was still a little scared. This was his first trip off on his own and he really didn’t know what to expect, or even how to act. Upon entering the Great Hall and sitting under the Sorting Hat, Remus waited for his house to be announced before finally Gryffindor was called out for all to hear. This announcement gave Remus the feeling that maybe this would end up being a good thing. He had heard about the Gryffindor house from his parents and believed that it could be a start to something good. After the ceremony, he followed the pack and headed into his dormitory where he met some of the friends that he would have for the rest of his life.

James, Sirius, and Peter were the friends that Remus had always dreamed about having. They were funny, loyal, and just good to be around. They helped Remus come out of his shell a bit and grow with some confidence. It wasn’t until their second year that it came out that Remus was a werewolf, but it didn’t make things worse like Remus thought it would, it actually made things better. The other boys teamed up to learn how to become an Animagus, and soon started going to visit Remus in the shack as their own animals when he was out for the week. Of course, Remus had some friends outside of these three, but mostly it was just the four of them. Remus had always been the smarter of the bunch, or maybe just the one who really wanted to pay attention in class. He always did well on exams, got high marks in classes, and never seemed to disappoint in the work he did. Remus loved being in Hogwarts more than he really imagined he would. Everything was perfect from the lessons to his friends, and even the trips home when he could tell his parents all about the events of that year. Everything was going great until a prank went terribly wrong towards the end of their time at school.

Remus knew that James never meant it in a serious way when he mentioned pulling a harsh prank on Severus. Sirius, on the other hand, seemed to think it was actually something they were going to do. Remus doesn’t have much of a memory of that night, but he has enough to put the pieces together. It wasn’t until after he had transformed that Severus had been stuck on that tree, with Remus closing in on him. Without the ability to stop himself, Severus was sure to have died that night, until James had stepped in. The stag had helped Remus get to the shack he used for hiding and stayed with him until everything had calmed down. That was probably the hardest time for Remus, in most of his life. Having to not only think about the fact that his friend, whether he meant it to be that bad or not, had put him in that position, and that he almost killed another student. If James and Peter hadn’t been there that night, who knows what would’ve happened in the end. Remus’ final year could’ve ended in a very different place.

With certain events behind them, but the effects still present, Remus finished his time at Hogwarts and moved on to something new. It was time for him to find the next part of his life. Even with the thing that happened with Severus, Remus didn’t want to go back into hiding, well, not like how his parents had been doing it. He couldn’t change who he was, so there was no point in pretending that he could go without human contact for the rest of his life. At this point, he still tries to keep in touch with his friends as much as possible, mostly because he cares for them greatly. As well, he’s trying to find out what’s best for him in the idea of a career. His professors told him that he could do just about anything he wanted to at this point, for he had been such a great student, but that still meant having to find something that he really loved the idea of doing.

Something that had been really bothering him since graduation was the idea of the war that was brewing. It seemed that whenever Remus had the chance of something positive happening in his life, something else would come around to complicate it. There was really nothing they could do to stop this war from coming in the first place, but that didn’t mean that they weren’t going to try and help end it. James had been the one to tell him about the Order, and Remus didn’t even hesitate to join. While it was dangerous and he had his own personal concerns, he knew that he needed to do this. This was going to be their chance to help make sure their world was protected, so why not put in the effort?

THE MARAUDERS – James, Sirius, and Peter are Remus’ three best friends, and the best of friends that someone could ask for. While it’s still awkward to be around Sirius after what happened, he’s trying to move past it because he doesn’t want to lose someone who means so much to him.

FENRIR GREYBACK – Remus hasn’t seen Fenrir since the night he was attacked, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t looked.

LUCINDA TALKALOT – As long as possible it had always been him and Lucinda, despite rocky roads and other forces greater then they tell them that they shouldn’t be friends. Despite it all, they persevered.

BIOGRAPHY —

WHERE WE BEGAN  → Your upbringing was not the normal as others that were born in this life, you lived with your mother while your father was across the street living with your half-brother and his mother. Next door to them was a woman not related to you but in everyway another parent in her own regards. You had your mum, your father, two bonus mums, and your brother who was simply your best friend in every way it mattered. You took your mother’s last name because there was a certain rule that had to be upheld, with the state of the world that you lived in there was an appearance that had to be upheld. Your father was a pureblood and to protect everyone he and your brother’s mother had to appear in love. But it seemed that nothing would escape the notice of the Dark Lord, he found out about the “mishap” that your father and his wife had been living. Fenrir Greyback had been sent to attack you and your brother, or that’s what you were told after it happened. You’d seen the figure approaching the window and moved to shove James out of the way ensuring that you took the brunt of the attack and were the only one that was given the bite that would change your life forever. It didn’t matter that you had been hurt, what mattered to you was that you had spared your brother the same fate. DURING SCHOOL →  Life at Hogwarts wasn’t as easy as it could have been if your life had just paned out differently. With the status of a werewolf you were essentially classified as a muggleborn and without the last name of your pureblood father you were viewed as a bastard. The purebloods were cruel despite the fact that James was prepared to pummel anyone that dared to call you names. But James couldn’t always be there and entitled children at Hogwarts were exceptionally cruel. To keep your mind off of things around you and the cruel insults being tossed at you, you threw yourselves into your studies. You excelled at your studies because magic came easily to you, likely with help from the fact that your parents were talented themselves. But still, even with your brother and your studies life at Hogwarts was lonely. However, it was Madam Pince that helped you study for your classes and exams, and it was with her help that you discovered your love for books, your love for the care that goes into them. WHERE WE ARE NOW → Getting out of Hogwarts was likely the best thing for you, letting you become your own person away from the chaos inside those four walls. You’d been into Florish and Blotts many times over the course of you life but the most memorable day for you was shortly after graduation when you walked in and saw the sign that advertised they were in need of help. The schedule was flexible, they pay wasn’t terrible and it meant that you got to be around all of the latest books as they came out. You were an eager to share knowledge with everyone who wanted to learn, helping them find books on the topics that they were looking for. Perhaps, if things were different you would have become a professor but a werewolf teaching pureblood children was something that would never be allowed. It was because of James that you were invited into the Resistance, the others hesitant about letting you join for obvious reasons but your brother wouldn’t have it. Together you can hope to make the world a better place for everyone, the muggleborns and the people who didn’t have a choice, just like you.

Ever since the day he was born, Remus was always loved by his parents. He was their little beacon of light. Lyall Lupin worked at the Ministry and avidly spoke about his hatred for werewolves. Out of revenge, Remus was bitten by a werewolf when he was a five, turning him into the very creature his father despised. From then on, he was afflicted with lycanthropy, an incurable disease that would impact and shape the rest of his life. Eventually, Lyall got over his resentment for his son. Remus grew very close to his parents, they always protected him and comforted him. Hope Lupin was especially close with her son, spending everyday reading and playing with him.

Remus and his parents assumed he would never be able to attend Hogwarts, as he was much too dangerous to his fellow students. Albus Dumbledore, however, approached the family and made the proper arrangements to ensure Remus could attend the wizarding institution. This was one of the best days in the young wizard’s life. He had always asked his father about stories from when he attended the wizarding school. Once at school, he was quite shy at first, unsure that he could ever make friends. But soon, Remus met a group of three boys, Sirius, James, and Peter. Remus was slow to connect, unwilling to trust others out of fear that they would discover what he was and cast him away forever. However, the boys drew closer and closer, and soon became the inseparable Gryffindor pack. This was the first time Remus ever had real friends and he was beyond happy to be with them. They soon found out his secret and embraced him, eventually becoming animagi to help him through the nights. This was the first time Remus felt like he belonged somewhere, the first time anyone outside his mother and father had shown they cared about him.  The Marauders were his best friends and he knew they would have a bond for the rest of their lives. While Remus’ friends always attempted to cheer him up, Remus had many self-esteem and self-confidence issues. He saw himself as a monster and a menace to society.

Academically, Remus was always strong. He studied for hours and made sure he knew all the spells, potions, and charms before exams or papers. He was at the top of his class and everyone would say how he was going to have such a bright future. However, in the back of his mind, he knew that that could never be the case. His condition would impede him from ever living out his full potential, as his kind was always discriminated against. It was something he always struggled with, knowing everything he was doing at school was pointless because he would never find a job, but at the same time, he loved learning and helping his fellow students.

After school ended, Remus was immediately drawn towards the Order of the Phoenix. He wanted to be there and fight for those who stood no chance against the dark forces at hand. Remus easily transitioned to his new life out of school and in the Order. Although he did not have a real job and barely any money, Remus was happy with what he was doing. He felt it was the push he needed to keep going and to keep fighting for justice.

THE MARAUDERS: James, Sirius, and Peter are Remus’ best friends and brothers. These boys were Remus’ first friends and they mean the world to him. He can’t imagine his life without them.  LILY POTTER: Remus and Lily are platonic soulmates. They understand each other on a deeper level and always offer support. From their Hogwarts days to now, the pair has always been able to have a nice time together. EMMELINE VANCE: Remus breifly dated the Ravenclaw during his seventh year. He broke it off when they started getting too close out of fear she would discover what he was or he would hurt her.

Fenrir insisted that he was nothing more than a muggle which was bought by the rest of the department save for Lyall who told the board members that Fenrir may not have been on the werewolf registry list but that he was a werewolf. Regardless, they released Fenrir who was still going under the guise of being a muggle, who escaped before his mind could be wiped as the Department had intended. Out of anger for what Lyall had tried to do to him, Fenrir had broken into the Lupins’ home, biting Remus to spite Lyall to show him just what he could do if he set his mind to it. At just five learning to deal with the bite was difficult, but with the help of his parents he would learn to adapt. He had to. His childhood included frequent moving when the neighbors would begin to notice something was off with Remus. He wasn’t allowed to play with the other children around him because as a registered werewolf at such a young age once they knew his name they would look at him different, something his parents desperately wanted to avoid and thus his childhood was a lonely one, often Remus would bury himself into a book, imagining that he was in a different world where things weren’t as terrible as they were for him. Remus would never picture himself as the hero of the stories he read, instead he would wish to be something simple such as the person who helped the hero, the cook who would put a meal on the table every time or anyone who lead an ordinary life, something that he would never be able to have. He had often been told stories of Hogwarts by his father but knew that he wouldn’t be able to go, but that was until Dumbledore himself showed up at his door. He knew of Remus’ condition and had already found a solution, insisting to Lyall, Hope and Remus himself that there was no reason why he couldn’t attend school and receive an education like anyone else. The plan was formed, during the full moon Professor McGongall would take him to the newly planted Whomping Willow that lead to a tunnel that took him to the Shrieking Shack in Hogsmede. It was because of his transformations that the shack got it’s reputation for being haunted, his howls mistaken for the sounds of ghouls. While at Hogwarts he made friends, something he had never had the opportunity to do, James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew were the people he learned would have his back. But still as he transformed monthly he made up stories that his mother was ill, that he had to go home to care for her for days at a time. One night his friends followed him and when they learned his secret in their second year they were never ashamed of him for what he, they never would have abandoned him as he feared, but they were upset that he felt that he could confide in them. The three banned together, determined that they would do whatever they could to help their mate and became unregistered animagi and helped him by giving him animals to spend the full moon which brought him mind more and more forward so that eventually with instead of hurting himself during full moons the four could run and explore the grounds together. But there was one incident that bothered him, Sirius, who hated Severus more than the rest of the Marauders told him of the Whomping Willow and how there was was a passage to the Shrieking shack. Severus went to explore and at the end of the tunnel discovered Remus going through a transformation as Sirius had hoped, wanting Severus to be hurt. Thankfully James was able to get to the boy into time, saving him before something tagic happened. Remus has not been able to look at Sirius the same, furious that he would not only put Severus in that position but Remus, one of his best mates, in a place where he could hurt or kill someone innocent. Something that Remus would never be able to live with himself if it happened. As graduation loomed over him Remus was once again the scared boy, no one wanted to hire a registed werewolf and despite his charming personality and wonderful grades in school he struggled and was turn down time after time. Because of this he was forced to take jobs that were below his magical level of ability, but he could never stay long, while his employers knew of his secrets, his coworkers didn’t and rather then letting them find out he would leave after a few months, onto the next job. Because of his inability to hold a job down he was able to give much of himself to the Order, spending time trying to make the world safe again. He kept his secret from most in the Order, save for the rest of the Marauders and Ted Tonks. He volunteered to work on missions with Alastar Moody, wanting to keep his distance from people and work with someone who wanted to skip the chit chat and get the job done. That was what Remus needed, he didn’t want to work with someone who wanted to be his friend.

JAMES POTTER & PETER PETTIGREW : Best Friends - His best friends, the three, along with Sirius, have been inseparable for as long as they had been in school. They were the messed up foursome at best but they made it work for them. They had always bee there for one another, that meant even when he was transforming every full moon into a killer.

SIRIUS BLACK: Doesn’t Trust - Ever since the incident on the full moon where Remus could have killed Severus he cannot look at Sirius the same. He feels betrayed and hurt beyond believe that Sirius would ever put him in that position. He fears that there is no way to repair their damaged friendship.

ALASTOR MOODY: Partners - When he was asked to partner with Alastor he didn’t hesitate, he knew that Alastor knew what he was doing. He was strong and Remus knew if something happened Alastor would let him go if he had to. Remus didn’t want to be partnered with his friends because they wouldn’t just kill for him, they would die for him and Remus didn’t want that to happen.
