no seriously y'all on these two manips i fix junko's hair to the red first and just both times you're so pretty, you're SO pretty and then i get her eyes to the red. but just like every time with her hair. just. wow.

junko you didn't need to bleach your hair to trash and back man you could have been ultimate fashionista just fine.

(i know there are very intentional layers to the ultimate gyaru thing, and that required her to have blonde/pink hair. but like. ugh, baby girl, your natural hair color is GORGEOUS, it just IS.)

conditioning dyes? what kinds of dyes are those? 🤨

Like stuff that only deposits color onto the hair, as opposed to penetrating the strand / lifting the pigment from the natural hair! so, stuff like manic panic or oVertone and stuff like that- they only deposit color, they don't strip it. those are conditioning dyes, they're basically just ultra ultra pigmented conditioner, which your hair does absorb, but they don't PENETRATE. the benefit there is that you aren't damaging the hair every time you re-dye it. hair DYE, like box dyes and stuff like that, usually contain some sort of developer (or ask you to use your own developer), which opens up the cuticle of your hair and like... dissolves some of the melanin inside? which lightens the hair, and deposits the color in a more permanent way, but is damaging to the hair.

#there are more brands than overtone and manic panic BUT those just happen to be the ones I've used!#coloring conditioners are great bc you can get color payoff while keeping your hair as healthy as possible #bc application is just like a deep conditioning #and hair dyes are great because they can lift color from your strands to give you a brighter more permanent color #but they damage the strands in the process #it's sort of all about personal preference and also what color hair you have #mine is either a dark blonde or a light brown depending on who you ask #so it's REALLY easy to put red coloring conditioner on that and get a really intense dark cherry red #but if I put like. blue. on there. it may get swampy fast #if you have naturally light hair then there is no reason to not use coloring conditioners #and if your hair is super dark it would be hard to SEE the color unless you lightened your hair first #etc etc etc #that's more info than you asked for lol but I have opinions abt these things #sergle.txt #I only started dyeing my hair in the first place bc someone did me a HUGE SOLID and sent me some overtone. FOR FREE #so coloring conditioner was my first experience with dyeing. and probably my friendliest experience

Here's the other pumpkin I carved this year (I did it yesterday but I was too busy doing other things, like cooking the pumpkin on the stove, and didn't carve it until late).

Dracula on the front, simple bat design on the back.

#pumpkin #jack o lantern #dracula #asj post #I went by Dracula's description near the start of the book.#I didn't want to carve his nose that way but I couldn't get carving it from the back side to work. ...The shape still doesn't come across.#I was thinking about using a black wet-erase marker to color in his hair and the bat.#So that he would have light hair sometimes and dark hair other times.#But when I tested the marker on the bat I realized it blocks the light from shining through.#I also found out wet-erase markers don't erase well on porous things. So there's a tiny black mark on the bat.#There's also some reddish staining on the white part of the pumpkin because I used red marker to make the sketch.#I need to remember for next time to erase the marker after making an initial outline with my x-acto knife.#I probably should've made his eyes' sclera and eyebrows and mustache lighter but was worried about it blending in too much with his irises.#I was thinking of using my red wet-erase marker to make his irises and lips reddish but then I found out light won't shine through the ink.#...I think it looks better in-person... My camera just can't pick up on jack-o-lanterns right.#I got slightly over 1 1/3 cups of pumpkin puree out of these two. Same as last year. ...And maybe around a cup of seeds.#It was easier to cook this time because I didn't add much water. Really hard to cook off water.
