1. The Cremation of Sam McGee by Seth Boyer

It was the credit song to Jacob Geller's Fear of the Cold video, and I think it's kind of a fun/ny poem. Also I'm a sucker for banjo

I don't know why I'm on a folk and country kick either, I just like the wordplay.

Not that they have them very often but Sylvain would pull the love you card more.

Sylvain would beg her not to leave but if her position threatened him or their children she would leave to protect them.

Zuriya would definitely do this to him. Having traveled with mercenaries most of her life, she's picked up some stories that could make Sylvain turn as red as his hair 😂

Watching the clouds. Lying down on a blanket in her garden, the two of them would gaze at the sky and tell each other stories or hold hands in silence enjoying the quiet.

when you have to break a five year follow because someone swallowed the "to support Palestinians you have to hate jewish people" koolaid.

And no, just saying "i just hate zionists!" doesn't make it better, because zionism is literally just sitting there going "i think the jewish people should have a land to live in that won't try to kill them the second its vaguely convenient to do so". Even if that weren't the definition, slapping the distinction on arguments nowadays is just a quick way to say "i hate jewish people but want to have plausible deniability".

I'm sick of people deciding all jewish people are horrible just because the israeli government is pulling something.

you know what, I'm going to say it - bioware waited too long on dreadwolf. they left it open on the table and dreamworks rolled in and yoinked it right from under their nose. they gave us a near perfect design for a dreadwolf. anything bioware does is either going to look like a rip off or just bland in comparison. dreamworks cornered the market. it's all over.

A story about my relationship with autism I keep thinking about.... (read more bc it's kinda long)

I spent a semester abroad in college in Barcelona, living with a "host mom". I met another student on the same program at the airport, and we became fast friends. We went out together in the city almost every night, we'd eat tapas and she'd drink mocktails and I'd drink wine. I've since lost touch with her, but a few years after that, she told me she was diagnosed with Asperger's (I know, I know, but), and I thought, oh, well that explains a lot, the diagnosis seems to be making her happy, so I'm happy for her!

The part that I keep thinking about is a conversation I had with my host mom. She had met my friend and determined that she was weird and later asked me why I didn't hang out more with other people and less with her.

I have a vivid memory of her saying about my friend, "No es normal." ("She's not normal.")

And even as deep in my codependency as I was at the time, I knew then how fucking rude and shallow that was.

So I looked her in the eye with all the defiance, and confidence in my statement, that I was feeling at the moment and said, "Tampoco soy yo." ("Neither am I.")

And only now do I realize just how right I was!

I think the end of the conversation was her trying to explain how much weirder my friend was actually, and me telling her I don't care. Which is very parallel to how stereotypical our autism traits were. I was much better at masking, especially things like eye contact (she had been told as a kid she didn't make enough eye contact, so she overcorrected and kinda stared sometimes and it could be really intense). I could seem normal, even if I didn't like it and it exhausted me. And that's also why she got diagnosed by a professional in her 20s and I diagnosed myself in my 30s.

Honestly, the moment at the end of the semester when the Catalan professor asked us how we found the course and we both said, way too easy, we've both studied French and are in advanced Spanish, and they said, "Why didn't you request to be in a harder class then?" And we were both like, "Because you told us beginners had to start at level A...?" That conversation right there should have gotten us BOTH a diagnosis, lmao.

1: Are you name after anyone? My great grandmother on my mother’s side and also a town in Arizona, USA.

2: When was the last time you cried? I think it was watching a Pixar movie.

3: Do you have kids? Nope!

4: Do you use sarcasm a lot? Yes but specifically to be funny.

5: What's the first thing you notice about people? Shirt color, which isn’t helpful for remembering people.

6: What's your eye color? Full on Maximum-Ride-chocolate-brown.

7: Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings as default. Scary movies and tragedies are usually better when I’m aware something’s coming.

8: Any special talents? I played the bassoon in high school?

9: Where were you born? In the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

10: What are your hobbies? Video games, reading, showing people pictures of cute dogs.

11: Do you have any pets? I’ve got a tabby cat, Ridley.

12: What sports do you play/have you played? Does marching band count? Also i did soccer in middle school.

13: How tall are you? Last I checked taller than a person who claimed to be 5′9″, shorter than a person who claimed to be 5′11″.

Also me: there is no way in hell this poll should be this close. I will be passing away if my boys lose to a not-even-hinted-at pairing from UD and my vengeful spirit will be posting pissy messages about how homophobic the voting bloc of the SMG fandom is for years to come.
