yes i am an adult male who loves high school dramas this is because i literally never experienced normal coming of age drama like ever and am disconnected from the collective experience of having a relatable peer group forever hope that helps
#i JUST want to experience high school#without like. my whole shitty life thing having gone on#i want to go to high school and have stupid drama and sexuality crises and worries about grades#not... That#i never had that im never going to have that#can i get (one) permission to go a little crazy if i survive into a university#fuck everyone befriend and be-enemy everyone get all up in peoples stupid mind numbingly low stakes drama#i want that sweet golden experience where the worst thing ill ever fear is annoying my classmates#or accidentally spilling something on someone at a dance#i deserve it i deserve to have had a childhood and a young adulthood and a life#i deserve to have dealt with unserious issues to prepare me for bigger ones#rather than serious danger that leaves me permanently severed from normal people and life#and makes me incapable of reacting proportionally or finding it in me to care about less serious problems#like yes it sucks your mom is going to miss college graduation#but i thank my lucky stars that you are not dying or being abused or starved or beaten or exploited#i literally dont know how to take things seriously a lot of the time like im not able to even if i try#because to me the mildest real problem is someone purposefully isolating you and ruining your health#the MILDEST#i try to care ab simple stuff i really do i just CANT#and it sucks so much trying to be a good friend and kind feeling like i cant do enough#the loud thought 'i wish that hapoened to me/i wish i worried about that/i wish the people i love only had that as a problem'#i get so envious. like thank fucking god your parents divorced like normal adults when it should be over#thank fucking god that 'friend' cut you off when they were actively insulting you and betraying your trust#thank the fucking universe that shitty partner dumped you before you fkn hurt yourself over them#yk?#and its a 'mean/cold' way to think about it but i just dont have the capacity to think or feel the little picture#i can imagine my friends subjected to such horror even tho i dont want to

been realizing as ive been writing lately that i truly love nothing more than writing useless arguments between characters that go nowhere its my passion in life. what this means is i need to add more of this in signosie and i have the perfect place to do it so the address' plotline is gonna get all the horrible interpersonal arguments. yay <3

#The Poisons We Drink#aroaessidhe 2023 reads#this is…….a lot of cool ideas but also so many elements and high stakes that i kinda lost track of them#the pacing is weird. the worldbuilding is random?#why is brewing SO overpowered & risky for her but the other powers seem to have pretty normal low-scale risks?#it’s definitely ambitious and has some cool ideas and also some great characters just. didn’t execute as well as I’d like#as much as we’re told the main threat is the government trying to put through a Registration Act#most of the actual antagonism we see is from other Witchers?#like the systemic discrimination got a bit lost in the witcher family drama and murder politics#important things to say about oppression and police violence but like....idk#she has this ‘deviation’- essentially evil sentient magic inside her head (and you KNOW I love that trope)#but it’s barely explained and very underutilised? other than helping her get out of bad situations you could take it out & would barely#change anything#also it’s explained at the start that she’s an empath but other than the very occasional mention I kept forgetting#will also note that I bumped this up my tbr because I saw the author talking/promoting it as the MCs sister being aroace but no mention#maybe it’ll come up in a sequel (there weren’t really any places where it would have made sense to bring it up here) but idk#(just the way the author was asking for advice on how to write an ace character and stuff you’d assume that they’d….put that in the book?)#not really a critique of the book itself but anyway. I really wanted to like this but the way it was put together just did not vibe with me#edit: I saw the author say on twitter that the version used for ARCs was before ace stuff was added and that there's other signif changes?#so perhaps that will be there! i'm not sure if I want to read it again but might skim just to see what that's about

I love slower pacing in shows.

i am sorry that i cannot decide whether this court has jurisdiction because you only gave me selected pages of some general terms and conditions and idek what the name of your contract is so i can’t determine which of these terms even apply

i also think these early takes on sayains + super sayains are really interesting and im curious to see if they hold up to modern db or if they kind of get left behind.
#i ADORE the idea that failure / near death makes them come back physically tougher#and i like the way the super sayain transformation was portrayed as a loss of reason + really letting rage consume him#and i know a lot of transformation stuff SAYS its the same deal but the weight isnt really the same#idk just something about the way this first transformation was done and the way he talks about krillin and the SHIFT#in gokus tone from before#where even in the thick of it he still had that very goku-esque lightess and was clearly having a good time#because the stakes are all just kind of abstract to him yk#<- low empathy moment#but uh the way he just cuts the bullshit entirely in the back half of the fight#and literally just goes fuck your entire life#is SUCH a good and badass tone shift#red.txt

Our official Sweets Baker has the rest of the week off volunteering at a camp for cancer survivors, so I've been in charge of the whole sweets bake. Was a bit nervous yesterday but I did good!! No slip ups and I got the whole bake done by just after opening :)
#scooped muffins in record time and didn't get burned once pulling stuff out the rack oven#actually wasn't super stressed about it like i thought I'd be#something about the relatively low stakes nature of baking versus other jobs/projects I've worked is really easy on my anxiety#i speak

I had this idea for my 8th year fic (that I have mostly dropped bc I felt like this storyline was making the fic too complicated) about the muggle studies class doing a play and Ron and Draco are playing the leads bc they’re the best actors in the group but the leads happen to be a married couple so they have to (petition to of their own volition bc it’s not in the fucking script) kiss onstage.
#They’re still reading Macbeth#They’re just not acting it#Maybe they will act it idk#I’m just not sure how much it makes sense for them to do a whole ass play#When the concept of theater is completely new to them?#So like they have to build a stage?? When they don’t know what a stage is#I really liked the idea of Ron and Draco acting together and Harry just zoning out in stage crew#Painting sets and humming a little tune in his head and relaxing#Give that boy some low stakes physical labor!#Would he be soooooooo jealous if he saw Ron and Draco kissing?? Yeah#Even in a play#I can’t remember how I picked Macbeth#I think I just decided it would be dope for Draco to play Lady Macbeth#I have some different stuff I want Harry to be doing in this fic#There are two versions of him I imagined for this story and they don’t marry well#So I have to pick one#This version of Harry is in denial about his trauma because the war is over!#We don’t have to talk about how bad it was!#Yes he’s head boy#But he’s also dragging his tent around everywhere and avoiding Ron and Hermione (they’re a couple and he feels left out)#Im only like 5k into this one#And im already so intrigued by the dynamic between H&D#They are both so sad and lonely and trying so hard to keep it together and be okay#And it’s like this mirror between them and they can finally see how much they have in common#And Draco is finally accepting like#How much he depends on Harry to give him a sense of who he is
