Scott Lucille has recently unveiled a brand new studio work: “The Music Man.”
Scott Lucille is an artist and songwriter with a passion for creating emotional, intimate, and relatable songs. His sound is refreshingly stripped down, yet at the same time, he is able to create a deeper connection with listeners. Originally from England but now based in Bangkok, Thailand, the musician continues to release music and perform internationally. He debuted in 2019 with EPs like "Jack Of All Trades" and “Stripped,” marking the start of his solo career. After collaborating with labels, he decided to take a more direct route, opting to self-promote his songs.
Scott’s most recent single, "The Music Man", is a great example of this. The track stands out in the way Scott explores his acoustic roots, while still capturing some crisp, modern melodies. Fans of genres like indie-folk and soothing acoustic music should most definitely feel at home here. However, "The Music Man" has so much more to offer, bringing more influences to life with his lively and  unique formula.
Fans of artists as diverse as Damien Rice, Ray LaMontagne, Dead Rituals, Elliott Smith, and Bob Dylan should definitely give this one a go.
Find out more about Scott, and listen to "The Music Man," which is now available on the web.

It is 7:04. Alex Hirsch, Chris Van Allsburg, Paul McCartney, Ray LaMontagne, and Richard Madden were born yesterday. Aidan Turner, Blaise Pascal, Jean Dujardin, Lou Gehrig, Nick Drake, Paul Dano, Salman Rushdie, and Zoe Saldana were born today.
Today is also Juneteenth, a holiday celebrating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Juneteenth became a federal holiday just two days ago, but for some weird reason, the holiday is not recognized in South Dakota. In celebration of Juneteenth, I will be posting a transcription of James Weldon Johnson’s “Lift Every Voice and Sing”. Happy Juneteenth everybody!
And now on to birthdays.
Alex Hirsch is a voice actor and writer who created the television series Gravity Falls.
Chris Van Allsburg is an illustrator and writer of children’s books. Some of his most notable works are Jumanji and The Polar Express.
Paul McCartney is a singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer. He climbed to global fame as the co-lead vocalist and bassist for The Beatles, and later found similar fame as a solo artist.
Ray Lamontagne is a singer-songwriter and musician. He has released eight albums in his career and operates in the genre of folk music.
Richard Madden is an actor who has portrayed many characters across various types of media, including playing Robb Stark in Game of Thrones.
Aidan Turner is an actor who played the lead role in the BBC series Poldark.
Blaise Pascal was a mathematician, physicist, inventor, philosopher, and writer. A child prodigy, Pascal went on to write treatises on projective geometry and strongly influenced the development of modern economics and social science.
Jean Dujardin is an actor who won an Academy award for playing George Valentin in The Artist.
Lou Gehrig was a baseball player who played first base for the Yankees. He played baseball professionally for over fifteen years.
Nick Drake was a singer-songwriter and musician. Known for his acousic guitar-based songs, he never achieved success in his lifetime, though he is now more well-known, especially for his song “Pink Moon”.
Paul Dano is an actor who has participated in many films, including Little Miss Sunshine, There Will Be Blood, 12 Years a Slave, Prisoners, Love & Mercy, and Swiss Army Man.
Salman Rushdie is a novelist and essayist who has written fourteen books in his career, most of them combining magical realism with historical fiction and dealing with the connections between Eastern and Western civilizations.
Zoe Saldana is an actress who is most famous for portraying Nyota Uhura in the Star Trek film series and Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Happy Belated Birthday, Alex, Chris, Paul, Ray, and Richard! Happy Birthday, Aidan, Blaise, Jean, Lou, Nick, Paul, Salman, and Zoe!

Who are your favorite musicians? If you could be famous for anything, what would you want to be famous for and why? Do you know anyone famous? Have you met any celebrities?
Oh man. . .these days, I don’t get SILENCE very often--not nearly enough--so other than kids songs, I haven’t been listening to much music.
Still, I like country because it reminds me of my home and backroads and adventures growing up in the country. Dolly and George are my top favorites.
I will always hold a special place in my heart for Green Day because Dookie was the first non-country album I EVER heard in the sixth grade and it expanded my horizons so much! I still listen to that album sometimes.
I love Ray Lamontagne’s voice and Hold You in My Arms is the song my husband and I danced to at our wedding.
Any 90s-early 2000s alternative song probably has a high school memory attached to it so is loved for that reason.
My go-to Pandora station is probably a decade old now and is the PERFECT mix of Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Social D, Dropkicks, Rancid, and similar band songs.
Rancid’s 20th anniversary show at the Moody Theater was the best concert I’ve ever attended.
Here I Go Again and I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) are my go-to BLAST in the car with the windows down when I’m in a bad mood songs.
I would absolutely NEVER want to be famous. I like being anonymous; I VERY MUCH like privacy, and I would absolutely HATE being famous. I honestly can’t think of anything much worse! Also, I have no talents for which I would ever become famous! Lol
I am close friends with country singer Mickey Guyton’s sister, so I have met her at my friend’s wedding and several other family gatherings they’ve had and have spent enough time with her to say I know her. I don’t really think of her as a famous person, though. *shrug* Maybe because I met her before she ever became famous??
A friend of mine enjoys going to author events, so I go with her to those sometimes. So, I’ve met several famous authors. My favorite being Angie Thomas! I’ve met some celebrity chefs. And, once I was at a restaurant where President Obama ate (in a booth right behind me), so he shook my hand and chatted for a bit. But, although I’ve been places where famous people were around, I just have zero interest in meeting famous people. That might be different if I were to meet them in some way that was organic and just involved us talking like normal human beings--because I do like meeting people in general--but I do not like anything contrived or the whole I’m-famous-and-thus-I’m-here-to-talk-to-you-because-that’s-what-my-publicist-wants-me-to-do type situations.

Niall Horan's lockdown listening: 'Pop is definitely at its best right now'
Tumblr media
I’m in London in my apartment, cooking – I’m making a Victoria sponge right now – and writing a lot: two songs yesterday. I had to cancel my tour, so I might as well go on the hunt for a big song. I started writing a Hey There Delilah-type one about when this is all over, called, well, When This Is All Over, and I was also writing about the idea of meeting someone without actually meeting them, and getting to know them because of this crisis. It’s an odd one: it’s actually a good way to get to know someone. Usually, say you went to a bar for a date, you’re probably drunk after five drinks and you forget everything you’ve learned about them. Now, you actually have time to ask questions. There’s no romances as of yet, but I wouldn’t mind if they started to blossom.
I come in the kitchen every morning, put on the kettle, and straight away I’m listening to acoustic music. Me and my two cousins live together, so we listen to a lot of the same stuff – Ray LaMontagne, Damien Rice, Angus and Julia Stone, Chet Faker, DMAs, things like that in the morning.
A lot of pop music, you wouldn’t sit down and delve properly into it. That’s probably quite an ignorant thing to say! But when it’s melody based and dance-y, you don’t always break stuff down and see what they’re talking about. So a lot of the new pop albums I’ve properly delved into: Dua Lipa, 5 Seconds of Summer, the Weeknd. His album is insane, incredible – everything he touches he turns to gold, but he’s written his best stuff now. Dua was like: “I wanted to make people dance but write really sad lyrics.” I was in a similar spot. I wanted a few uptempo songs and to have a laugh with it, but also disguising the sad lyrics in some fun stuff. And she’s done that so much. Don’t Start Now is the perfect example.
The 5 Seconds of Summer boys smashed it this time. I’m not sure if they’d be pissed off at me for describing it like this, but their new album is like EDM punk-rock: they’ve got these drops, but they’re guitar driven. There’s a song called Best Years that has this really random, cool moment where it sounds like the Edge is playing: one of those Where the Streets Have No Name riffs.
One Direction, we were a boy band, and you’re told by the public you’ve got a sell-by date before you even start. It just depends how you deal with that. I thought we dealt with it quite well, and 5SOS, too – they’re all unbelievable musicians and they’ve developed. You learn from other artists, even subconsciously. They’re mates with [EDM duo] the Chainsmokers; they went on tour together, so they’ve started to develop sounds perhaps without realising it. And they’ve got to the age of 25, 26, and their sound has done this lovely little arc.
I’ve been doing this 30-day song challenge – name a song you like with a person’s name in the title, or a song from the year you were born. Thin Lizzy were on my list yesterday, with their song Sarah. This is a rock band in the 70s in Ireland, with a guy with a big afro, and it’s: “You came into my life and changed my world, my Sarah.” It’s storytelling, and very on the nose.
I wouldn’t say I was a major hip-hop fan, but my cousin is a big fan of Aitch. I must live under a rock, but apparently that fella has been doing unbelievable things – he played me a few tunes that are really great. I’ve also delved deeper into the artists I love anyway: Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, Crosby Stills and Nash, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen. When I sit down to sing a ballad or play the guitar, I’ll always play a Bruce-type melody. If I write with a pop writer, they always say my melodies lean in a bluesy, rocky way – I have that ingrained in me. But I don’t want to be a rebel either. I know there are people out there who want to hear certain stuff from me, so I like to put my own tinge on it.
If I’d come out of One Direction and made a straight pop record I don’t think people would have been shocked at all, and it would have been the easiest thing for me to do. But I just don’t believe in it. I’m either going to put out something I love or not put out anything at all.
It’s not the easiest music industry right now – it’s tough out there. The quality of music is so high, and quality artists are more prevalent than ever, like the Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift. You go to these award shows and you see the calibre around you and you’re like: fucking hell, I’d like to stay at this level. Pop is definitely at its best right now, and it’s good for everyone – it keeps you on your toes. I just have to hope that the next time I open my mouth and sing into a microphone it’s a good melody. That’s why I’m writing a lot now. I know the types of melodies I can write when I’m at my best – I just need to get to them. I’m going through the shit water to get to the clear water.
• Niall Horan’s album, Heartbreak Weather, is out now.

hey james trainthief have you listened to any good bluegrass lately
Honestly when I think of bluegrass I mostly think of the bluegrass bands I've played in since I was little, all of which were about improvised music based around classic tunes. But if you want to be a little looser with the definition than that then I’ve been enjoying The Devil Makes Three after another asker rec’d them, especially the song Drunken Hearted Man. I mention him a lot but Nick Shoulders is another of my favorite up and coming musicians with a great acoustic sound, his song Rather Low was my #1 on this year’s Spotify Wrapped. Ray Lamontagne’s Rocky Mountain Healing was one of my favorite songs on my November playlist. And the Punch Brothers can always be relied upon for some great songs that really emphasize each individual instrument in the group, This Is The Song (Good Luck) is a pretty apropos one right now. Finally if you want a really classic acoustic jam sound then check out Foggy Mountain Top by the Hillbilly Gypsies

Oh, Little Orange Fox ~ by Brendan.
Lyrics;
Those clouds they're acting like a blanket,
The grass that I lay down flat on my back it's my mattress,
And I see trillion of faces just glowing,
I'm afraid of letting go,
And you are all comforting me,
While I'm dying, (x2)
 Here on the floor,
