How Scott joined the Rattic
Plot: After spending a few days alone fighting to survive in the big house he had stumbled across, he finally meets a new friend.
Fandom: Rats SMP
Notes: This is all platonic, pls don’t put it in any other context!
Got inspiration to write this last night and wrote it today! I'm sorry for any spelling errors lol
Scott was alone.
After what had happened on the farm he had been forced to leave, and somehow he had ended up in this big house with humans walking up and down the stairs and cats trying to kill him.
He had no one to talk to in the house, but winter was coming and he would freeze to death out there. There was no farm house filled with rats, just him and him alone.
The cats were hunting him, and Scott was running. His breath was short and he knew he couldn’t run forever, but he wasn’t ready to die. Especially not to a cat. He had to just endure it until he could get into one of the holes in the walls the cats couldn’t get into.
Suddenly a hand grabbed his arm and he was pulled to the side, ending up in a hole he was pretty sure hadn’t been in the wall before. He fell to the floor, breathing heavily.
His saviour, a tall rat with goggles on his head and an orange tunic, looked out quickly. Scott saw a cat’s tail pass one of the corners.
“Thanks for saving me” Scott said when he had managed to catch his breath. His legs felt like jelly, so he elected not to stand.
“No worries” the rat sat down next to him “I’m Owen, by the way”
“Scott” Scott replied, taking the hand the other was holding out for him “When did you get here?”
“A few months ago” Owen replied “We have a little rat colony up in the attic, I just went down to get some food when I spotted you”
“You’ve got a rat colony? You mean… there’s more?”
“We’re plenty” Owen confirmed “Sniff built some stairs recently, so it’s easier to get up there for us"
"And the humans… don’t know?"
"We're trying to keep it a secret" Owen told him "How long have you been here?"
"Just a few days" Scott explained "I thought I was the only rat here"
"That explains why the humans have noted a rat running around" Owen said, standing up and reaching out a hand "Let me take you to the attic, you'll be safer there"
Scott took the hand, and let Owen drag him to his feet.

I unironically believe that my FAVORITE thing about rats smp is how blatantly obvious it is that the narrative was supposed to be “oh all these lovely rats helped this lovely family in their times of need! truly a friendship against all odds!!”
But the rats just won’t stop trying to murder and steal and lie and cheat.
Like PVP deaths weren’t even supposed to be a thing but day one Martyn and Oli came out swinging and not a single person has been capable of deescalating since, so it keeps getting worse.
