Raphael - but it gets progressively more filthy.
Headphones highly recommended.
(I didn't include Haarlep's lines because someone already made a post on it and they don't really count/match Raphael's timbre)

I have seen no-one post this, and it's been stuck in my head for two days now so i NEED to share it. Be AWARE, this is Baldur's Gate 3 Spoilers from Act 3!!! I will post specifics and lyric transcription under the cut under the cut, but if you Don't want Act 3 spoilers: don't click play!
This is the Raphael boss fight theme if you decide to cause havoc in the House of Hope, and let me tell you--I GASPED in delighted AWE when this started up. Just perfect for him and KILLER delivery. He also has 666 health, which I found just perfect. I love how unabashedly in love with the high fantasy high camp of DnD and TTRPG this game is.
Lives, all mortal lives expire, Souls go to their dooms, in flames, Forevermore! Hell! Hell! Hell has it's laws, Hell! Hell! Effect and the cause, Curtain falls, but hold your applause, Squirm squirm--for now down here come the claws! Lives, all mortal lives expire, Souls go to their dooms, in flames, Forevermore! Fools fools, how hard you have fought, Brave brave, but it's all been for naught, True souls, that couldn't be bought, Doomed, detected, and caught! No more deals, it's over! The final act your doom, No more breaks, it's over! This House of Hope--CONSUMES!

Dan Allen Gaming interviewed Borislav Slavov, the composer for Baldur's Gate 3 and I about fell out of my seat when he said that he can't wait to meet Andrew Wincott and shake his hand. (Around 37:40) THEY STILL HAVEN'T MET IN PERSON!? I also still can't wrap my head around the fact that the whole song direction for Raphael's Final Act was done over video calls. Incredible.
I sincerely hope he wins the Best Score and Music award from The Game Awards on the 7th. I mean, how often do game scores end up topping Spotify lists? It was an absolute crime that BG3 wasn't even a nominee for Best Audio from the Golden Joystick awards.

Things I want to know about my fellow writers!
Tagged by @bearhugsandshrugs who always is so kind to me!
I'm tagging @theemptyislost and @24hourmess and anyone else who wants to join! No pressure at all!
Last book I read: Seven Faceless Saints by M.K Lobb. Honestly it was only a 3/5. Easy to read and had an okay plot, but the twist was poorly done and frustrated me A LOT. Also, a weird romance thing was thrown in the last 30 pages and I got so confused where tf it came from.
Greatest literary inspirations: Steven King is honestly my favorite author, followed closely by Diana Wynn Jones. Totally opposite genres and styles but I take a lot of inspo from them both.
Things in my current fandom I want to read but I don't want to write: Lol I'm a degenerate and need more Ascended Raphael fics. I physically can't read my own writing/enjoy my own smut so I'm always hunting for very specific shit.
Things in my current fandoms I want to write but I think nobody would be interested in them but me: My Phantom of the Opera/BG3 crossover is my silly little passion project, but I'm also the type that loves to take 2 characters and stick them in every AU known to man. I don't think most ppl are as insane as me about that. (Consider the 'HAHA AGAIN!' TikTok audio.)
You can recognize my writing by: occasional typos (I get horny and impatient), reader inserts, no use of y/n in my x reader fics, big powerful men/power imbalances, choking, men munching (as they should)
My most controversial take (current fandom): Ascended Astarion groupies scare me. He was my first romance and my favorite romance of the lot, but I don't think my appreciation can even compare to half his fanbase. (Also some of them need to leave Neil alone.)
My top three favorite tropes: mutual pining when they both think its unrequited, enemies to lovers, ʰᵉᵃᵗ/ʳᵘᵗˢ ⁽ᵃ/ᵇ/ᵒ⁾
What’s your current writing mood (10 – super motivated and churning out words like crazy, 0 – in a complete rut):  Like a 2, honestly. I've been struggling. I have like 7 half-finished fics that I'm trying so hard to brute force but it is simply not happening. Which is insane because in November I was cranking out like a fic a week. Maybe I just need to rot in bed for awhile and contemplate lie a philosopher.
Share a random frustration: I'm juggling 2 jobs and school and social life and hobbies rn and GOD am I not doing to hot with it lmao. Pray 4 me

Realizing that one of the plus sides of BG1/BG2 being more simplistic in terms of visuals and audio is that it allowed for so many mods that can change/add to the story if you want them. Like want a new companion character? There are like 30+ to choose from. Want a romance with a character that wasn't originally romanceable? Chances are there's a romance mod for them. Want a new quest in the game, or one that was cut before release? There are mods for that.
(More rambling under the cut because this got long).
Sure, some mods are . . . weird or annoying by varying standards, or not the best written (a lot of modders didn't speak English as a first language, or were teenagers when they made them), but the love behind the writing can absolve some odd phrasing. A lot of people in the modding community also translated mods into their native, non-English languages. All of this for free, just because they loved the game. The level of content (dialogue, quests etc) in some romance mods puts any studio-made romance to shame, because a modder could just focus on romance rather than all the other aspects of game development.
(Also, IMO Bioware totally took the "kiss your love interest" option in DAO from "flirt pack" mods and other romance mods where your character could choose a lot of different flirtatious things to try on your love interest, from kissing, hugging, playing with their hair, etc. Or you could ask them more about their past, their family, or whatever the modder thought to add. The Bioware devs were definitely aware of the modding community and I honestly think that's one of the reasons you can kiss your LI on command in DAO and now BG3).
I think what I've felt kind of sad about, or like I'm "missing" with BG3 the past few days, is this . . . sense of almost infinite possibility with the game, and collaborative storytelling. Which is silly, because obviously BG3 is a great game as is, and Larian has been doing a great job of updating things, and there are a lot of talented writers, artists, and modders who make content centered around the game.
But I have to reconcile the fact that there are probably never going to be companion mods for BG3. There are never going to be new quest mods for BG3. Like for BG2, someone would totally make a mod to adventure in hell with Karlach or cure Astarion or romance Raphael (like a real romance, whatever that would look like, not the incubus thing). A mod to hug Gale, or ask Astarion about his family before he was turned, or braid Shadowheart's hair, or ask Wyll to tell you all the Baldur's Gate scandals he's heard. But with games being more advanced with graphics and voice acting these days, I seriously doubt any of these things will happen unless Larian does them. And Larian only has so much time and resources. (I also get that for many people, graphics and voice acting are more important than having more written content, but for me it's the opposite). Fanfiction helps a lot, but there's something really magical about seeing things happen in the game.
And if I'm somehow wrong about how these mods will never come to be, I'll be happy to see it (unless people try to do crap like add voice lines with AI, in which case I do NOT want to see it. Ever). But modern game modding has mostly just become cosmetic as far as I can tell. When there's such a focus on graphics, that's cool and all, but I sincerely doubt I'll remember a mod hairstyle after 20 years. Story and character mods I do remember.

Bg3 playthrough - House of Grief (it all comes together for my tav)
Spoilers!
Some notes first: I’ve been noticing lately that I’ve got some annoying bugs happening after patch 6… I can’t say they 100% for sure never happened before the patch, but I know they’re happening a lot now - quite often, the incidental companion dialogue as we walk around won’t load the audio - words will appear above their head, but there’s no spoken lines with it. More annoying - sometimes my character gets stuck in conversations. I’ll go to talk to an NPC, it seems like the conversation is going to start, but nothing happens: we all just stand there with the game frozen and no way to back out or go forward.
I thought it was so neat that Jaheira and Minsc had dialogue with Sarevok, and I never bothered to check what the conversation was like if you don’t bring them along - it’s much longer, if you’re a durge, and I probably should have done that instead. Oops!
It ALSO looks like I was supposed to have a cutscene with Jaheira after my bhaalspawn reveal dream at the beginning of act 3, but it only triggers if Jaheira is actually in your traveling party - simply being at camp isn’t enough.
Act 3 NPC names are the worst. It’s like they got tired of naming people and just picked random jokes or food related names. In a way it’s funny I guess, but mostly I don’t really like it. You guys are the ones who chose to fill the city to the brim with NPCs, name them properly if you’re going to do that.
You used to be able to pray every day at the tabernacle to get your buff. It seems that with patch 6, it’s now a one-time deal. I guess that’s less annoying for most players, but I actually liked doing my daily prayers. Every single time, Bhaal got mad at me, and I liked having my daily little “fuck you dad, you’re not the boss of me” moment.
Ok now the main event - I finally did the House of Grief. Yet another little callback to the older games, yet another pain in the ass act 3 fight. I really rely on summons now to help me pad out the fights, I don’t think I’d be able to win any of these otherwise. It was super neat meeting Nocturne and the little memories she had to share, but I wish I could see what the encounter is like if Shadowheart had the noblestalk. I was never able to get her to take it. She won’t just consume it directly, and I never had any options pop up in dialogue if the mushroom was in my inventory or hers or whatever. No matter what I did it never worked. Oh well!
Hey what do most people decide to do with Shadowheart’s parents? I don’t see a lot of discussion about it because I’m not usually hanging out in those corners of the internet.
I played through the encounter once. The parents were requesting, specifically, over and over again, that they wanted Shadowheart to free herself from the curse.*** You have the option to let Shadowheart decide what she wants to do, and I’m always interested to see what the characters are set to do by default, so I took that route, and Shadowheart chose to kill her parents like they were asking. It’s a very very touching and emotional scene, her parents say they will always be with her, you can choose to give her a hug during her cut scene, very satisfying tie-up. It felt like I made the right choice.
But then I went back and ran it again just to see what would happen if I made different choices, and it made me change my mind. I know her parents are able to articulate clearly and unambiguously that they want her to free herself from her curse, and I know, being a parent, I 100% understood where they are coming from. For sure. But just because you think you want something, that doesn’t mean it’s actually the best thing to do. And you know what… I think… my poor tav’s really been at a loss for most of act 3, and all the backstory he’s learned about himself. He kind of feels disposable. It’s the reason he agreed to Raphael’s deal: his soul is void to begin with, so it doesn’t even matter.
But I think it was the conversation with Sarevok that really cemented a positive course of action for him. Sarevok told him a little more about his position in the bhaal cult, and kept repeating over and over how I was made for murder, how I was perfect murder. And I think… the whole point of the game clicked in my brain. You know, it’s in that song, “I Want to Live”. That’s the whole entire point. For EVERYONE. All the companions. Each one has to find the reason to fight for their life, their own life, sometimes figuratively and sometimes literally. Each one is learning to want to LIVE. That’s the whole entire point. No noble but pointless self-sacrifice. No throwing yourself away, no fear, no hiding, let’s fucking LIVE. And I think it has all clicked especially for my resisting durge, who now wants every single one of his actions to be a big “fuck you” to daddy. My tav was made to murder: now he’s going to save everything, aggressively, passionately.
So Shadowheart’s parents want to give up now - I don’t think my tav is going to let that happen.
***plus I mean… I think another issue is that the curse is a bit vague. What exactly is the drawback? Shadowheart gets pains in her hand occasionally? I feel like that’s not a huge deal. Maybe if the curse had been described more, had more awful things attached to it, it would be a harder choice.
If you tell Shadowheart not to do it, you can talk about how - sure there will be some pain to figure out how to live with - but that’s life, life involves pain sometimes. Shadowheart will say that she doesn’t want to just give up now that she’s come this far, and laughs that it’s her parents that she gets her rebelliousness from anyways! They’ll figure it out together.
No one expresses any regret if you make this decision. Her parents come to your camp and stay there and talk about how happy they are. Shadowheart has someone who can actually tell her about her childhood and fill her in on her old memories. She still has a cutscene where she cries, but this time she cries about feeling like she doesn’t deserve to be anyone’s daughter. You don’t even get a CHOICE to hug her this time, you just do, and then her parents appear to comfort her as well and you get a great big family hug. Amazing. I’m so happy with this choice. My camp is very very fully now, with all my companions, and also Mizora, and Yenna, and Volo, and now Shadowheart’s parents as well. I like it. Wish a certain old Hellrider was here too, bet he’d have fun helping Yenna with her soup. Sigh.
So again I haven’t seen much discussion, but I wonder if there’s any discourse about what to do with Shadowheart’s parents. I don’t even want to look and see - I’m afraid I’m going to see ableist discussion about how Shadowheart’s mom is better off dead and should be put out of her misery and I don’t want to risk putting that in my eyeballs.
Hey. I saw some interesting discussion about Dammon and how his character is a bit more morally complicated than he appears. Dammon is a lovely guy of course, but he also very conspicuously is the only tiefling who misses something about living in the hells: he enjoyed working with all the infernal machinery - but don’t forget - it all runs on souls. In Baldur’s Gate, I don’t think it’s a coincidence at all that his forge is RIGHT next door to the Devil’s Fee. Honestly I kind of like this aspect of his character, makes him more interesting, to me.
Feeling good, feeling JOYOUS, my poor old tav feels like he’s finally got a clear direction. Next up is taking care of Orin!

Cleaning out my BG3 vids and I forgot about this weird glitch I found. If you pick up the cauldron directly behind Raphael at Last Light Inn, for some reason it triggers Mol to get up and Raphael to leave before you talk to them, and after, Raphael has that dialogue text but no spoken audio. I still don't know if the dialogue is directed at Mol or at the PC...???
"If you'll excuse me, I must see to urgent matters. But don't you fret. I shall always find time for my most treasured acquaintance."
I've never found another way to trigger him saying this, because not interacting with either of them just has them sitting there for eternity.
