You know, we talk a lot about being kind to ourselves, and this is valid and correct.
But kindness can be had while thinking someone is an absolute fucking asshole. Kindness isn’t always gentle. If we want to change, how can that be lastingly done on a foundation that still holds a grudge?
‘Forgiveness’ seems to be a dirty word in a lot of places on this site, but as far as I’ve seen that’s usually applied outward. How about in the other direction? How many people here simultaneously understand the value of self-kindness while continuing to hold flaws and past actions against themselves?
Perhaps it’s not so much that we ought to start with kindness.
Perhaps we ought to start with mercy.

Gotta be honest, a lot of me not getting back into writing is to do with the fact i don't know what most of my keys are, and the fact I can type a coherent sentence at all is a miracle!
