Demi Demon || Alastor x Reader, part 18
Synopsis: soulmate AU where you have the same mark on your body as your soulmate, and if your soulmate dies, you die too. Alastor needs to make sure that his soulmate is safe so he can continue his reign - whatever that takes. Though it looks like we have a couple secrets of our own.
Previous part
Part 18: a new purpose
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"He's thousands of years old..." I said aloud as I stared at the ceiling. It was no wonder he was so powerful and knew absolutely everything. He had been around for centuries. He had witnessed the Great Collapse and watched humanity struggle to rebuild itself. How long had he spent on the surface and how many in Hell? It felt like there was so much I was completely unaware of when it came to him. Yet he knew everything about me because I had lived a fraction of a second compared to his life.
Despite this, it started to explain some of his behavior. His impatience with me must be from my lack of magic knowledge and how long it's taking me to unravel a curse. It would also explain his frustration with my existence in general. If he hadn't been tied down by a soulmate for hundreds of years, suddenly having one that knew nothing about the dangerous Demon world would cause concern. He's well known as a dangerous person on the surface and clearly isn't afraid to fight with other Overlords or even the King of Hell himself. He is a powerful Demon with a very less so powerful soulmate.
I grunted as I threw the covers off. I had healed plenty and felt back to my normal self, but the burn marks still lingered on my palm and face. I dressed in my usual plain pants and short sleeve for the day. Training with Alastor would start again but this time I was ready.
My conversation with Charlie sparked a genius idea. She had tried to make a hotel for Demons to attempt redemption. She had created a place separate from the rest of Hell, a place away from temptation and evil. Someplace secluded and safe. That was exactly what I was going to do.
Ring fights operated because of the fighters. Without fighters they were useless and uninteresting. If I could save the fighters, specifically the younger ones, and hide them away in a secret Sanctuary, the rings would have to find other means of obtaining fighters. Children were the easiest because they were the most defenseless. They were easy to manipulate physically and mentally, making escape impossible even if they grew older. Adults were much harder and not worth the effort.
Creating a Sanctuary would allow me something to defend at a central point. Once enough children were saved from the rings, it would be a few years before they could start up properly again. Once they did, I could go out again to save those children, too. It would be a constant process but it would get easier with time. I would likely have more help as the children grew older. How long could I live for?
I had to keep this idea a secret, though. Alastor wanted me to be knowledgable enough in magic to the point he won't have to worry about protecting me from other powerful Demons. Once that was accomplished, I had free reign of the world. I had known him long enough to know that he likes the power and control of his puppets, and cares very much for his reputation. The Radio Demon was soulbound to the Snake Demon, the one who attacks rings and saves the fighters. Good and evil. Safety and danger. We were opposites. I had a feeling he didn't like that.
The Radio Demon didn't grace us with his presence until later in the afternoon. I was invested in my book at the window when he slithered out of the walls. I kept my Demon side hidden and nonchalantly closed my book to give him my full attention.
"Before we do anything," I started, "what is the difference between Overlords magic and normal Demons?"
"Intriguing question." He sat on one of the chairs closest to me and laid his cane on his lap. "It's more simpler than you think. Overlords start as your average Demon with control over Element and Advance magic. Once they start making soul deals, their power grows and they obtain Existence magic."
"What are soul deals?"
"A soul-binding contract. Want me to demonstrate?" He held out his clawed hand, a faint green glow outline reaching over his whole body. Even his eyes seemed to have a tint of green to them.
"No thanks," I said. The glow disappeared as he straightened in the chair and fixed his suite. "What's the difference between a soul deal and a soulmate?"
"From what I understand, a soulmate connection is a mental tie to an individual. A soul deal is simply a contract but magic ensures both sides hold their end of the deal."
"You and Husker have one."
"In a way. Unfortunately for him, he lost his soul in a gamble. I have no side to uphold."
"Right."
"Any other questions?"
"How do you know all of this?"
"My dear, when you've been around for as long as I have, life can get boring. You look for anything to keep you entertained."
"Where did you get all the books though?"
His smile actually seemed to soften. "My mother collected them. She was the one who introduced me to magic." He spoke fondly of her, suggesting he had a close relationship with her. "Anything else?"
"Not right now."
"Good. We're attempting illusion magic today." He stood up and held his cane behind his back. "It requires imagination. Can you handle that?" My gaze hardened and I stood up without a remark. "We'll start simple, then. Picture something small on the desk."
Per usual, it never worked on the first try. I tried to imagine a rose lying on the corner of the large desk. My fingers fluttered as the frustration started to build in my head. I knew I was using magic because of the faint glow of dark purple in the corners of my vision. It didn't help that I could feel Alastor's presence just on the other side of my shields. He wasn't invading but he was there, watching.
I took a deep breath and tried closing my eyes, but something sharp nicked my forehead. My eyes snapped open to Alastor withdrawing his clawed hand. "Keep your eyes open. It doesn't work properly with them closed."
I rubbed the spot on my forehead. I let my Demon side come through so all my effort was being directed at this one, simple task. When I attempted it again, the faint outline of the rose came through. My excitement knocked it back into nothingness, taking my pride with it.
Alastor sat back down with his hands clasped in his lap. "Keep going.”
I held out my hand to the desk and brought the outline back. I tried to look past my black claws, focusing on the task rather than my nature. I kept my back to the fireplace so Alastor was on one side, still in view, and the table on the other. His presence didn't move from its original spot at my shields.
I tensed the muscles in my arm and tried to move all my energy through it. A smile crept on my face when the rose started to color and eventually sit fully on the desk. Alastor crossed to the desk and put his hand on it, abruptly snuffing it out.
"Hey--"
"An illusion is an illusion, unless you put more energy and matter into it. You will repeat the process until you can physically hold it in your hand." He conjured the rose into his own claw and held it up to his nose. "I expect such before I return."
"Where are you going?"
"I have a meeting with Rosie. We have important matters to discuss."
He disappeared without a warning. I let out an exasperated sigh and collapsed in one of the chairs. I looked around at the quiet, still library. I held my hand out and closed my eyes, recreating a perfect rose on the desk in a heartbeat.
****
"So how's the reading going?" Rosie asked enthusiastically.
"I hadn't realized soulmate magic was so expansive," Alastor admitted. The two of them were enjoying tea in her store together, just like old times.
"And how is the sweet thing doing?"
"Quite well, actually. She now wants to learn our magic, though I'm unsure of the reason behind it."
"Well did ya ask her?"
"In a way. Though I suspect I'll know soon enough when we attempt mind magic again. For now, I will take what I can with her. She seems to change on the spot without warning."
Rosie laughed. "You're an awful lot like that, too."
"Say, Rosie darling," he summoned a brown book in his claws, "how much of the information in this book can I trust?"
"I would say it's pretty accurate. It was written during the Great Collapse. Why do you ask?"
"I read that soulmates can combine energy. This is obviously written by a Human so I wonder if that energy could also mean magic."
"Hmm, that sounds plausible."
"If she's as powerful as we think, I can only imagine what can be done if our magic were to combine."
"You'll have to have a strong mental connection with her for that to happen."
"We both know I'm more than capable of handling any kind of power. I need her to be mentally capable of such. I need a strong connection on her part."
Rosie let out a sigh. "How do you plan to do that, exactly?"
"I'm going to do what I do best."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Author’s Note:
Dun dun duuuuuunnnn. What exactly does Alastor do best? Well we all know he’s good at a lot of things. Hmmm, I wonder 😏
Let me know your thoughts!

sorry im coping with aus again oopsie daisy. anyway here's my take on a fantasy au
it all started with me rewatching the D&D movie and thinking "hm. what (broad) classes would the neighbors have?"
and after much thinking i came to the conclusion: Barnaby = Bard / Eddie = Paladin / Sally = Sorcerer / Julie = fighter / Frank = monk / Howdy = Artificer / Poppy = Healer / Wally = 'Wizard'
those seem fitting! BUT i don't like restrictions or rules so in this very light worldbuilding for a casual (strongly glaring at myself here) CASUAL au, it's only dnd-esque. not actually dnd yk yk
in my head, they're not technically puppets for this au. they're flesh and blood, they've got bones, etc. they're actual Creatures, though they still look like Them! Julie's still pink w/ candy-corn-horns! Frank is still a gray tube! Barnaby is a big blue dog! they're just... not puppets. it's the same for the other beings in this fantasy world - they all keep the style, but they're all flesh n' blood if that makes sense. a cartoony fantasy world
so they have their little found family adventuring group titled, of course, The Neighborhood. because when they were first forming, Wally went "oh! are we a neighborhood? i've always wanted neighbors!" and it Stuck. so they all lovingly refer to each other as neighbors, even though the closest they get to being actual neighbors is pitching their tents next to each other & staying at an Inn in neighboring rooms
like your classic group of adventurers, they're almost constantly on the move. the longest they stay in one place is a couple of months - the rest of the time they're wandering! they take quests, get roped into general Shenanigans, etc. they adventure! and get into a lot of battles of varying severity
so Barnaby is still kiiiiind of a bard? best i can describe him is jack-of-all-trades moral support! he provides battle music, keeps the mood light, and stands off to the side to offer quips and tips. he prefers not to fight, and only Gets Involved when the others need Backup. even then, he usually takes the role of defending his neighbors. he has a good eye for whether or not physical support is needed - he never needs to be asked when there's a legitimate need for him! unless he's thoroughly distracted from the goings-on. he does have magic, but it's more for show / defense-based
Eddie's still pretty classically a paladin. healing powers, armor, there to be on the front lines and Protect! the group's sword and shield! he technically serves a god but he forgot who <3 he just makes the occasional general offering and mumbles some vague prayer. he's super friendly! super helpful! super willing to dive into the line of fire! Will disregard his own safety without a second thought! his magic is pretty much restricted to healing, and it's weak healing at that (maybe because he can't properly serve his god...), so it's mostly good for quick mid-battle heals and little wounds. temporary fixes!
Sally has innate fire/light magic, and she's very showy with it! she puts Flair and Pizazz into all of her casts and is very dramatic on the battlefield - she manages to turn her fights into a performance. She tag-teams keeping the Neighborhood entertained with Barnaby. he handles the humor/lightheartedness, she handles the escapism/encouragement. she writes scripts & stories in her off-time, and often reads them (or spins a new one) after dinner. when they have weeks / month breaks in one spot, sometimes she'll recruit local thespians to create a play
Frank is all about that hand-to-hand combat babey! he wants to feel bones break under his fists! he wants those split knuckles! he very often starts fights, and even more often finishes them - what he lacks in raw power he makes up for in vicious tenacity. he just Keeps On Going! he seconds as the group's Knowledge Guy. while his hobby is studying insects, he also catalogues/studies monsters and enemies and terrain so that the Neighborhood can always be prepared. the only time he stays out of fights is when he's researching or note-taking. he tries to micromanage the battle from afar anyway
Julie is like... put a druid, a fighter, and a barbarian in a blender. she's got a big sword! she's got seemingly endless energy in battle! she can talk to plants, especially flowers! her flora magic is very minor, so it's not like she's making giant roots burst out of the ground and strangle people. but plants can give her information, and if she asks nicely and they feel like it, sometimes they'll help her out. in battle she's a force to be reckoned with! nothing will stop her and her sword! she's usually the second (closely following Frank, with Eddie hot on her heels) Neighbor charging into battle - but she's the one with the stellar war cry! & where Sally and Barnaby tend to the Neighborhood's emotional wellbeing & entertainment, Julie keeps things fresh with Physical Activities during their downtime!
Poppy is a powerful healer! she draws on an individual's energy (often taps into her own as well) to convert it into healing power. it's draining but it's damn good healing! she also takes the role of the Neighborhood's cook (the others still like to help, especially Frank who is essentially her sous-chef) and makes sure they're all healthy. she hangs back during battles, waiting to (and hoping that she doesn't have to) heal a wounded Neighbor. if one of them is badly hit, she forces herself to run into battle and drag them to safety before working on their injury. she has a tiny bit of illusion magic, which she'll cast from afar to assist her Neighbors. she tries not to use it outside of emergencies - it takes a lot of energy, which she tries to conserve just in case.
Howdy has Zero Magic! none! four hands and none of them are magical! however, he's a damn good inventor & a whiz at potion making. he can Use magical items like there's no tomorrow - he just can't wield it himself. he supplies the group with potions, helpful items, all sorts of goodies - given that they can trade for it with anything he'd accept in-canon. the only exception is when they're mid-battle - he hands stuff out when needed without haggle. he supplies the group with their cash when they're not getting it from looting/quests - he has a magic backpack that can unfold into a fully-stocked merchant stall! he sells at towns, on the road, anywhere he can! In battle he hangs back with Poppy and, yes, supplies items, but he also uses ranged attacks - magical weapons that cast for him, magic 'bombs', that sort of thing! but there's a little secret - he's the Neighborhood's secret weapon. he invented fantasy guns! four magic revolvers that, when the 'second safety' is turned off, multiply into a giant clusterfuck of guns (with ammo ranging from magic 'bullets' to essentially rocket launchers). unfortunately he can only use this setting once & for a limited time before the guns overload & have to be manually repaired. so he either uses them off of the first safety (i.e, they're 'normal'), or not at all. you know shit is Really hitting the fan when he joins a fight
and Wally! Wally Wally Wally... you may have noticed that i put his class 'wizard' in quotes. that's because he says he's a wizard, but he's not! he just says he's one due to the automatic stigma and fear of what he really is - a Warlock! his patron is Home, an eldritch horror that many would classify as a demon. they have a very special, codependent pact that neither of them can live without - Wally wears their 'seal' as a house-shaped pendant on a choker (necklace) hidden under his clothes. Home is extraordinarily powerful, but Wally barely taps into that power. he has a grimoire that Home inscribed with a bunch of sigils that convert into spells when drawn & then cast in the air. the only other powers he uses are seeing-in-the-dark, seeing-magic, and opening teleportation doors! Wally can't sleep, but he can doze - though he's never fully unaware of his surroundings (its kind of like how dolphins only sleep with one half of their brain). he still eats with his eyes, which both feeds him & acts as a form of providing daily energy to Home, since Home can't exactly consume souls every day. If Wally uses too much magic, he has to rest inside of Home's house-form, which is the only time he actually fully sleeps. no one knows about Home, or that Wally is lying about his wizard status.
Home is a lovecraftian being with three forms. the first is the lowest power level - a cute one-room house with Eyes! i.e: Home Classic! Wally's pendant unfolds into it, and it's the main way Wally and Home physically interact & communicate. the second is possession - if Wally explicitly allows it, Home can completely take over his body and kind of 'tuck him away' to have a nice deep nap while Home takes the reins (Home can technically force this, but it's very difficult and would not go over well w/ Wally - it would also be an unstable possession). the third is Home's true form - a massive shadowy eldritch monster made of writhing darkness and nightmares that no one in their right mind would look at, let alone fight. Home has very complicated feelings about Wally & the Neighborhood. they are also, quite literally, Wally's heart - which is part of their pact.
i have some scene ideas & little Plot Concepts (most notably the times the Neighborhood learns two Very Big Secrets about Wally, one of which being the warlock/Home reveal).
but yeah that's moooostly it. basic stuff yk, not very in depth! just fun things to feed my maladaptive daydreaming & escapism
#warlock-masquerading-as-a-wizard wally is fun#cause youve got this funny little guy! in his little wizard outfit and his staff and classic wizard eccentricities!#but he has a lovecraftian horror curled up in his chest excited for its next opportunity to consume souls#home when making wally's body: ah fuck how do people eat again??? with their eyes right??? that sounds right... thats how i eat...#home a week later: shitshitshit their MOUTHS they eat with this Mouths goddamn it.... too late to fix it now#cut to wally internally panicking while watching other people drink/eat normally#hm i Realized that like... half the Neighborhood more often than not doesn't outright fight#poppy hangs back. howdy hangs back. barnaby rarely joins. frank is often busy researching#and then you've got eddie & julie going full-tilt nonstop absolutely mowing down enemies like there's no tomorrow. sword besties <3#wally and Sally casting from the middle ground...#wh fantasy au#maybe the howdy enthusiast in me is jumping out lately but hes soooo good in this au i swear#he's out here bargaining over a potion with his own neighbor mid-battle#bc he Will be funny about it when the stakes aren't high#forcing them to go through transactions even though he'd give the goods to em anyway#him vibing with poppy & barnaby while explosions go off in the background#and then when shit hits the fan he gets to be a Certified Badass and whips out the big guns with the cockiest grin you've ever seen#hes fun. i love him.#they're all fun. i love them.#home & wally make me especially Ough in this au. their relationship is so messy and you literally cannot have one without the other

Danganronpa x Dungeons and Dragons AU
The Necessary Heroes (Survivors)
Sonia: Elf / College of Necromancy - I always associate Wizards with rich people since Wizards mean they’re well educated.
Kazuichi: Half-Elf / Artificer -
Hajime: Human / Thief Rogue & ??? Warlock - He was a thief for most of his life but after [memory static] he started hearing voices in his head.
Fuyuhiko: Tiefling / Draconic Sorcerer - Tieflings (DND equivalent of demons) can be born into normal families if someone made a pact with a demon. So Fuyuhiko is a tiefling born into a halfling family. No one believes him that he’s technically a halfling so they think he’s just a really short tiefling. It pisses him off immensely.
Akane: Goliath / Way of the Open Hand Monk - Akane was ostracized by her community for not being as strong as other Goliaths. But what she lacks in strength she makes up for in acrobatics and speed. Even tho she’s not as strong as other Goliaths, she’s still the strongest in the group.
Lucky 1′s (Murderers + Nagito)
Mikan: Water Genasi / Blood Domain Cleric - I thought the Blood Puppet Channel Divinity matched her remnant personality. And she’s a water genasi (half element genie) because she’s always crying.
Gundham: Aasimar / Circle of the Moon Druid - Circle of the Moon allows Gundham the most animal transforming ability.
Nagito: Elf / Wild Magic Sorcerer - Wild Magic sometimes makes him roll a random effect on a d100 table if he cast a spell. If that’s not a good summary of Nagito’s luck I don’t know what is.
Peko: Warforged / Samurai Fighter - The Fighter maneuver, Bait and Switch, fits Peko really well. It allows her to switch places with an ally and give them more defense against melee attacks.
Teruteru: Gnome / College of Glamour Bard - Of course the horny guy was gonna get the horny class. I think it’s funny if he used Cooking ASMR as his spell focus.

Hi yes I want yo uto know that I've just been haunting your champion jesse tag bc. Holy shit. I never thought I'd ever get into the mcsm fandom but I also said that about Sonic and Yu-Gi-Oh and I got into them, so.
But ur art,,,,,, ur au,,,,,,,, I live for this kind of shit. Take a positive character and break their spirit, tear them down, make them into a dead-eyed fighter. I eat that shit like Talenti Gelato - 🖋️
yess!!!! you get it!!!!! the thing about jesse is that he’s very stubborn and determined, so it’s not easy to completely break his spirit. he’s also definitely not the type to voluntarily follow romeo’s orders and he’ll fight against him at any chance, physically or verbally. so in the au romeo never actually succeeds in turning jesse into his champion entirely (and romeo eventually learns that he can’t too). also i don’t think it’s fun if i just changed jesse into romeo’s puppet, fighting with no emotions coz that’s simply not who he is! i wanna do my best to keep his personality while also fitting the champion role into that.
but that doesn’t mean jesse hasn’t been affected emotionally- he has the tough job of constantly struggling between growing self-doubt and desperately clinging onto the hope of escaping, and i think it’s worse than giving up entirely since there’s no concrete answer to his turmoil. and if romeo can’t have jesse willingly be his champion then he’ll take advantage of this struggle and turn him into an unwilling champion.
so so glad you’re enjoying the au btw 🥹 i hope i can make it a good ride!!

To @ericaportfolio @phantom-of-the-ruckus @aroaceweirdos101 and all Hello Puppets fans…
I don’t know if you have watched or heard of “Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005)”, but if you have… Hear me out and recommend watching it if you haven’t seen it.
I’ve been thinking about Mortimer’s Handeemen characters as the Masters of elements of four nations. I think it would be really cool and an interesting idea of an AU of Mortimer and the others to bend their own elements in ATLA.
I think Mortimer would be a Firebender and bend lightning because knowing that Mortimer was mentioned as being a kind, loving, and father figure in the show, I think it would make sense for him using his fire to protect his friends and other good people instead of using it to destroy everything and harm others being fueled by rage, hatred and anger. And I feel like he would almost be like Iroh and both like drinking tea. I think they would get along pretty well.
For Nick Nack, I think waterbending would be fitting for him because he would use water to do watercolor paint, being the artist he is. And maybe he would be very skilled and talented as both fighter and healer. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Francis (Nick’s father and belong to @ericaportfolio) taught him Bloodblending to use it for evil and against others. It might be fitting for Francis to be both Waterbender and Bloodbender.
For Daisy, I think she would be a very strong and greatest Earthbender like Toph. And knowing how angry she’ll get and her “danger mode”, she would have the ability to bend lava, which also fits.
For Riley, I’m thinking either be an Airbender or Firebender. I’m not sure which would fit for her, but I think Airbender might work. And Rosco as a Flying Bison would make sense because he is a very large fluffy dog, and Flying Bisons are large and fluffy too. But what do you guys think?
Scout as a Firebender? Not surprised because she is a chaotic, little gremlin with her blue fire.
What do you think of the elements for the Handeemen if they were in ATLA? What elements do you think your Hello Puppets OCs would bend? Would they be Benders or Non-benders? Let me know what you guys think in the comments or reblog.

Out of curiosity, do any of the iterators in the off the string AU have back problems? I can't imagine the umbilical really gave them that much room to move around resulting in them being kinda stiff.
it'd be easier to ask who Isn't stiff jdkglsmdklcdsk i'm tryin not to do the whole "and they were all very cool epic fight capable machines able to do karate chops and myurder a lizard on accident" (← no shade throwing here) that kinda easily creeps into the stuff
like all of these bitches are lame stereotypical (when it comes to body capabilities) accountants. but i wouldn't say that they have back problems- when that's said i imagine stuff like scoliosis n kush yanno? their spines are some tough things, they are the main things holding the whole puppet together and not coming apart in the middle when the antigravity comes off in the chambers. they don't really have muscles to do that job for them, so it all comes down to the spine
the only Iterators who refuse to be reduced to accountants are Boreas, Orion and Haboob rn (with Notos possibly trying to get better at some point in the future)
and from all Iterators, Boreas manages to also be the stiffest one despite his grouping with the other two. he is Incredibly stiff and incapable of quick movement (the fastest stuff one will get out of him is a punch or a stomp for the sake of inflicting damage from his sheer strength). all as a consequence of the paralyzation venom administrations. he's gon bend over to pick smth up and do the grandpa move of holding his back n going "ugh fuck..." under his breath. man's a tank with the grandpa tax...
Orion is still relatively stiff like an usual Gen 1 can be expected to be with being an old model, but before he left his structure/Terminus, he first tried to get some hang of fighting. found himself a shield and a sword and did his best to do exercises that the soldiers during the war used to do and figured out how to move effectively with or around his physical limitations
Haboob is the only Iterator i'd say wouldn't have any physical issues concerning Any of this. her puppet was changed to be able to wander in Sabulum during the Ancients' time and after all of them were gone, she tinkered with it further out of spiteful determination to be useful even though it was dangerous. she's survival ready! so athletic to hell n back, no ouchies in the backies
here's all the fighters (for now) side by side for height ref purposes!

These are their main weapons, that will have upgraded designs later. I also refined and defined some details. If you look closely, Spamton has the NEO wing tips as studs on the epaulettes (his shoulders) of his jacket, and I made his greaves/sabatons look like actual thimbles - from my second post of his design. It goes with the theme of his puppet strings being similar to threads, and he's like a doll - dolls can have threads. Puppet Fighter AU
Rosas' weapon is a bow and arrow, transformed from the Freeze Ring. Spamton's Thorn Ring goes through the same transformation as the Rose Scarf. Asul uses a serving dish that they display samples on as a shield, engraved with the symbol on Spamton's back of his leather jacket - but I changed them to stars. The samples are thrown like darts. I already posted Kahel (Jack instead, like Jackfruit, and his face looks like a Jack-o'-lantern) using the mannequin like a hammer or club. The mannequin's outfit in this pic - is just what if dressing up the mannequin would give it immunity or a stat boost or something. The spikes and chains give it extra damage output, and also GOTH. Dilaw - now named Flan - wields a selfie stick with their smartphone, that doubles as a taser. Together, it's a telescoping stun baton. Flan records all the fights they're in, so they and everyone can watch after. And learning from Ralsei to wield the Puppet Scarf (Spamton's broken strings from the NEO battle) by following how he uses magic to control his pink scarf - calling it "Scarf Arts" trademarked - Spamton brandishes his strings like whips that slice and grapple objects and his enemies. Also Spamton's whole body is a weapon too, a sharp spinning top, throwing himself around as a self-propelled flail.

Dust is back with another list of reasons to vote for Cross
Dust: okay, so clearly, some of you aren’t convinced cross is the best choice. here’s more reasons to vote for him and not error:
cross is the type of guy to stop what he is doing, mid-mission, to help a little old lady across the street. i know this because he has done this. twice. we give him grief about it. but as boss says, “you can take cross out of the guard, but you can’t take the guard out of cross.”
never seen error do anything nice for a little old lady. just saying.
cross is legit nice. i mean, he’s got his angry and aggressive side, but the guy could have worked for dream, no problem. (thank goodness he’s with us.)
he likes memes, and the internet is memes. error doesn’t understand memes. they confuse him.
cross has done what he could with a bad hand. his “dad” was horrible and controlling in the worst way.
error will most likely destroy a few aus to celebrate. to him, doing his job isn’t work; it’s fun. (do what you love, i guess. i feel like there is a home wrecker joke there if the guy wasn’t scared of physical contact.)
Dust: shoot… uh… running low on ideas, let me see if killer wants to help.
oreo, he’s an oreo. hard chocolate shell with soft, sweet insides.
he’s a good fighter, like fighting with the kid.
Dust: you like fighting everyone. how is that something for the list?
Killer: not everyone; there is someone i don’t like fighting. and that someone is error.
error does that thing where he grabs my soul, and i don’t like that. i don’t like being used as a puppet. neither does cross. he’s been used as a puppet before, and he doesn’t vibe well with error doing that to him. so that means:
error is a bully and picks on cross : (
NM: Pardon me, I heard these two bickering and figured I could add a few things as Cross’ employer.
Cross has a good color scheme. Simple, contrast with a pop of color. Unlike that eye sore, Error. That one looks like a child who wanted to use every crayon in the box colored him. For someone with only one good eye left, that hurts to look at. Especially in that blinding AntiVoid he is so fond of.
Cross is loyal to those who show him an ounce of kindness and respect. So much so that he will bravely take on any task asked of him, no matter how much fear I sense from him. I trust Cross will face that fear and persevere until the job is completed. I could not ask for more.
Killer: "like that one time we took him to farmtale, and you asked him to go to the barn to get something, which meant he had to be by cows?"
NM: "Ah... Yes, I forgot about his irrational fear that day."
Dust: "yeah, but he still did it, and without complaining. had horror go with him, but he still did it."
NM: "That he did. So, I let him spend time with the puppies to calm down. I was rather proud of him after he returned. Especially when I felt his fear as he went to do the task. Despite that, he never asked me to assign it to someone else."
Killer: "pfft, i remember playing with those dogs. didn't he kick one of the puppies?"
Dust: "well, yeah, killer, but that was an accident. there's a difference between intentionally kicking a puppy and walking as one happens to run in front of your foot."
Killer: "still, he was kneeling there hugging the puppy and begging it for forgiveness."
NM: "It was a rather amusing scene, yes."
Killer: “that’s something we can add, though.”
would never intentionally kick a puppy.
Dust: ”horror’s here now and wants to add something.”
he eats well and cleans up the kitchen after himself. which is more than i can say about two other skeletons i live with.
Killer: ”wow, really horror.”
Horror: ”get better at cleaning.”
Dust: ”and nightmare is back to add one more.”
Cross is more than just a good fighter, as killer said. He is strong and sharp when it comes to combat. Cross is able to hold his own against guardians and has integrated fighting styles into his own. He is adaptable and a valued addition to my team. On top of that, he is the “baby brother” these other three apparently needed… And my favorite.
Killer: ”what?! i knew it!”
Dust: ”i thought you said you didn’t have favorites.”
Horror: ”he doesn’t… right?”
NM: ”I do not have favorites. I was only joking on that last one to see your reactions. Now, I am sure Cross needs some moral support. All of you go find him and give him a pat on his back. He is holding firm against Error so far, and I can sense he feels mental and emotional stress from that.”

For Everyone reading my Cyberpunk AU and asking "Who's this Neala character?" well, here's your answer:
Neala, the Gumm-Gumm Hound, is my Tales of Arcadia Fan Character. Firstly created in 2018 as I watched Part 3 of Trollhunters and later developed further as Wizards was released.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her first design was inspired by Draal and Nomura. Though I didn't intent to make a FanChild by that combination, I purely liked Nomura's agile sillouhette and Draal's Spiky body. Of course, at the end, I put my own spin on it and so, Neala was created.
From the start, I knew I wanted them to be a warrior, obviously this fact would make her an outcast, or at least, not a part of Heartstone Trollmarket. For a moment, there was the idea of making them a Changeling, but the idea was scraped once I had a narrative of her role on "Eternal Night"
It started out as a "New Challenger enters the fight" situation, where she would arrive umpropted and ready to face Gunmar and the Gumm-Gumms, but the "Mary Sue" approach was changed for something much more altruistic.
Redemption.
Here, the exhiled Gumm-Gumm train got going.
Tumblr media
You can find the first version of her story HERE!
Tumblr media
She was "Gunmar's Champion", a loyal fighter adopted and raised by the Skull Crusher as a bloodhound, but once Morgana came into the picture, giving Gunmar the power to make anyone into a mindless slave, Neala fled.
Inspired by Argh! She abandoned Gunmar as well, but instead of refusing to fight, she just fought for centuries in the shadows, helping Troll-kind in places where the Trollhunter wasn't an option, akin to Angor Rot before becoming Morgana's Champion.
Once she knew of the Human Trollhunter, she moved to Arcadia Oaks. Her mission remained the same though, protecting her kin, while also being a hidden support for the newest Trollhunter.
As much as this concept seemed good, it felt a bit...Mary Sue-esque. But at the time, I had no chance of fixing it, nor the vision to see what could be better. So, I let her rest, while still using her as a guiding force on "Dashed Hopes" my Cyberpunk AU. Where she serves as Krel's messenger and spy.
After a while, some ideas started to pop-up in regards to them. How I wanted them to be, their motives, everything. And so, I had a new backstory for them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She was a Gumm-Gumm commander, pretty much as before, she was raised into a bloodhound by Gunmar. Previously, her personality was pretty neutral. Having some level of consciousness regarding the world outside her home. My reimagining of their personality was making them rough, stronheaded and arrogant. A soldier who knows their value, their skills and their goals, which, of course, align to the ones of their king, who they see as a role model before everything falls.
Once Morgana comes, Neala doesn't fully trust her. She's a human after all, she might be tricking their king into a trap. A suspiscion half way confirmed by the Slaving Ability bestowed into his sword. They challenged the witch, demanding her the truth before Gunmar cut it off and sent Neala to rescue Argamon.
On their way there, they thought of the implication of their king becoming a puppet to a witch. Then and there, they became a ghost, dissappearing into the night, no longer a Gumm-Gumm, but not a Pacifist either. A Renegade who would dismantle human kingdoms and tribes to return what was robbed from their kind.
For centuries, they did it. Becoming a hero for troll kind when Angor Rot became another puppet for the Eldritch Queen. But as Humans became more abundant and poweful, Neala wasn't enough to fight against them. And so, they did the minimum to keep trolls out of human sight to avoid a purge, like Arthur did in their times.
As they knew about Jim, the new Trollhunter, they were ready to hunt him down until they saw him defeat Bular. There, they saw both were on the same team, and so, Neala became a hidden ally.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In regards to their design, I cut their hair down, as well as most of the spikes, since it made their design a bit noisy. Kept their clothes short and mostly form fitting so their sillouhette was agile no matter the version.
To Read their updated story: The War is Coming ~Part 1.
Keep going!
Gumm Gumm territory was always hostile, but it has become more so since the human King started to hunt Troll-kind. Everyone is eager to grab that fleshbag and tear him to pieces, eating him is an option too, but meat is not my kind of meal if I'm being honest. Gunmar must not know though, he already has enough on his claws. War is coming, tensions are growing, and we might not be enough to face Camelot's army. We have to make each of us count on the battlefield when the time comes...
Battle after battle, we've won followers, soldiers, trolls aware of the sacrifices needed to recover what's ours, and still, not all of them join the cause.
Dwuoza has become the sanctuary for those who still want to hide, those who aren't willing to fight against Arthur. Weakness, fear, cowardness, training rips those feeling to shreds, I should know...
I was taken by Gunmar when I was a youngling, my memory of how is really fuzzy, the only thing I remember is my name. "Neala", Champion. Gunmar sticked to it and, from then on, I became his. A warrior, a conqueror with no mercy, just like Bular, his son. Still...it might be giving him to much credit.
Despite us both been raised by him, Bular's always been the one to beg for his father's praises, as if he deserved them. A soldier, and over all, a prince, should know respect is earned. Each time your weapons are weilded against an enemy, is an oportunity to proof your worth and earn respect from your King. Having said that, it's pathetic. Seeing the son of the Skull Crusher begging like a spoiled child is just pathetic. When will he learn his actions speak louder than his words? Hell if I know...
While he goes asking for his father's praises, I stay in camp, training. Handling this blades is no easy task, their iron blades and black stone handles make them a weapon able to be thrown or handled, but the ability required for them is forged by discipline, strength, aim and, not to mention, acrobatics. Those are unusual amongst trolls, just certain kinds can manage such a dynamic fighting style.
My hooves slide through the ground, each choreographed by my instict. I pirouette and jump with my tail as a balancing force against the lightness of my body and the weight of my blades. I spin them by the handle, feeling how my claws click each time the black stone hits them slightly, letting me know I'm in control. The silence of my coordination exercices is broken by steps, heavy and small steps from some group of soldiers.
Once they arrive, I could feel there were three or four cadets who stopped once they saw me on the training ring.
-Good evening, gentlemen- I say before handling my blades properly, ready for anything. -Came for a round?- I ask, confident. A challenge is always good, especially for them.
They start to garbble and mumble trying to decide if fighting me is wise. After all, they have seen me at the battlefield. I can easily face a knight squad and win without a scratch. Some time later, they wield their spears, challenging me -Very well then.- I reply as they sorround me -Better make it quick, I gotta patrol the gate- Cracking my neck before taking a deep breath. Then silence...
3...2...1!
A soldier charges at me, as I avoid, leaning to the side to they can run pass me. With a spin and a help from my blade, I spin swiftly to knock him with a kick of my hoof. As he trips into another soldier, I grab his spear with my tail to block an attack from.a third brute. Quickly, I push the attacker with my body and blades to suddenly turn and throw one, towards the last rookie, making him stop dead on his tracks. At a moments notice, I appear behind him, sweeping him of his feet with a fast sweep of my hoof. Like that, four of them were down -You still need to work on your stands! Focus your weight into your legs to ground yourselves.- some feedback won't hurt them as I pick my weapons and go to the entrance. They grunt as a response -Maybe next time- I reply, leaving the ring with a smile.
-Champion?- a familiar voice comes from behind me, Bular. I turn around and sheith my blades.
-Prince...- I answer, cold but respectful.
-My father asks for your presence. I'll take your place at the gate- he tells me, indiferent, almost a little annoyed. I nod making him believe I didn't notice his disagreement to the order.
Soon, I arrive to my king's throne room. A dark cave with a natural window that lets him know what happens in his domains. It's intimidatimg, no matter how many eons I've spent alongside the Skull Crusher inside this place, a chill still runs through my spine each time I step in here.
-You called for me, your majesty.- I say as I kneel before the black troll in front of me. He has something on his claw, admires it. Looks like some sort of mask. Despite my constant talk about being the Black King's Hound, I'm still outranked. Not only by Bular, the flesh and bone of my lord, but by the tribute brought to him shortly after me: a gray and green brutish creature in Gumm gumm armor, Argamon, the Kruuvera Champion. Who stands right beside him, like a dog waiting for orders.
As of now, I'm the only one who he speaks to.
-Commander...- the lord says to me, in his deep rough voice. It shakes every spike of my body. -I've heard my soldiers understimate your skill...- he questions me, I lower my gaze in annoyance. Though the ones from before knew who they were talking to, others aren't as wise.
-When they arrive, they tend to mock me. But they learn what is best for them in no time.- I answer, secure with a light growl. My arrogance made me stand from other soldiers, since it has pushed me to be smarter, more skillful and cunning than the rest. Some may say I am a weaker image of my lord, a shadow of his grandeur, but not one as dark as Bular is.
-I see...- he turns around and throws me the mask he was looking at. I catch it in the air, handling it so I can see it too. It resembles those often wore by the rest of the army. Dark with green highlights at the edge of each twisted horn, but this one, aside from its smaller scale, had no muzzle and no backside.
-My lord?- I ask, confused. It is small for his size, it would barely fit me. Made of black metal, yet hollow and light. Given how rough our troops were while fighting, I think this little mask won't stand a chance once push comes to shove. I look back at my King, expecting his reply.
-My son is my living image, he commands where he stands. The Butcher, the humans call him. Just the mention of him can make a batallion tremble.- growls in victory as he comes closer, speaking seriously, looking at me with his cold and lonely eye. -Argamon is our tank, a moving fortress with no fear. On any battlefield, his strength is our weapon.- signaling the brute, now behind him, as it responds to the words spoken about him with pride. -You are my top commander, my bloodhound, fierce and loyal. A lethal assassin.- even though his voice is severe, he speaks with a certain fondness. -Your presence, reputation and that helmet should make them quiver and hear your every command.- growling in triumph as I look at the metal at my claws once more. Thoughtful.
-Wear it, and you'll be my general in the war to come.- His growls become threatening. Refering to the Human King with rage and thirst for violence. But what he says, makes me jump as I realize...
Finally Arthur drew the last straw. The war is coming.
Years of tensions, of disgrace and lies have come to a climax. The time has come to reclaim what is ours...
Looking back to my lord, I nod and put on the mask, it sits on my actual horns, letting me see while darkening my gaze. I unsheith my blade, trying to look at my reflection, despite the carving at the spine of the weapon at my claw. Now, I look like one of them. Humans may think of me as a demon, and I would let them think so. I'll rip their lives to shreds until darkness consumes them, as we rise to victory.
I Look once more at my majesty's eye, he nods lightly, approving my decision. A moment later, he asks me to stay there to see Argamon train, he'll need that, more now than ever.
Some hours run by, the sparring continues when, suddenly, a messenger comes with some news from the Gate.
Bular has been captured by the King's men.
To be Continued...

Monster Rome AU
I woke up to an overwhelming amount of ideas from y'all, and i love it.
-------------
I think i really like the minotaur grey idea, i keep mulling over other options for him and it just doesnt suit as well, gives me Ferdinand vibes, a mean looking huge monster of a creature, who just wants to sit under a tree and feel the breeze and get pets and love. Also then we can branch into the whole 'someone goes to slay him' story, Grey tries not to fight, cant help it to survive and ends up becoming feared when hes actually very docile, rince and repeat story line.
This is where plum comes in, I 1000% cant see her as anything other than a full blown godess, her energy, her demeanour, everything about her point to a deity. She is kind and calm and finds humans fun little things to intervene with, perhaps a little mischevious, somewhat of a trickster but never with harmful things, more just little pranks. She sees Grey is lonely and sad, and feels for the creature, perhaps she made him, perhaps she knows who did, and they didnt accoutn for his gentle heart. But she does. She sees he's stuck in a loop of vioence and needs to be freed, but she cant do it, she's got to send a champion to meddle.
Enter demigod peach, a very tired, very well trained fighter, who simply wishes for the same thing, peace and quiet. I'd like to think years of fighting and a slow aging process make her wise but worn out, totally burnt to the very end of her wick from fighting endless battles, perhaps even other gods messed with her to make her a champion to battle things she never wanted to fight. Almost a puppet in some game, she doesnt have any control of her choices, and its made her very jittery and uncertain in social settings, kind of a massive nervous introvert, despite her skill level.
She's been crushing on plum for ages, but thats a literal god, and Peach is just some little fragment of one, not even someone who'd catch her attentions. She gives up that attempt to win a shred of plum's attention without even starting, its destined to fail, shes a tired, worn out scarred and nervous person with nothing to offer, she knows that Plum's out of hr league, so much so she's not even playing the same sport. But when the goddess she looks so fondly towards asks her for a favour, to go and free the minotaur trapped away, she does it for once with a bit more enthusiasm, Plum asked kindly, she wasnt pushy or bossy like the others, and that gentle touch was enough to make Peach (dare she say it) eager to help. At first theres a mix up, peach thinks "freed" meant kill, thats what shes known for, its why they ask her to perform such dangerous tasks so often, but she see's Grey sat somewhere quiet making something, he's intelligent, and kind, and curious, so she doesnt take out her sword. Grey's instinct after many years of being targeted is to lash out, but Peach doesnt retaliate, and he slowly realises this one is different. They become fast friends, he shows her all the things hes made in his isolation, he's actualy rather inventive, with a fine eye for craft.
The pair start to fight together, he swears his sword to her, and she's...a little taken back by this but fine, if he's sworn to help her he can leave his current location and prison, he's technically freed if her orders are to live and enjoy more. Besides, she too has travelled and worked alone for many years, maybe some company would be nice, especially company that likes the same stuff as she does. She finds he likes a good scratch on the neck, and doesn tmind her putting little briads in his hair. They have a petience for anything nature based, sitting and watching birds, or making cool carvings from wood, finding interesting rocks or spotting a deer out in the forests. It's like they were cut from the same cloth. Peach never got on with humans, and the gods were out of reach or if they did pay attention to her it was never for good reasons, always taking from her, and she only ever recieved trauma in return or a new scar, or a new level of fear and exhaustion. Other demigods like her often came off arrogant or entitled, they had more favour with the gods more often than not so they felt better than her. She never found her people, but maybe her person was a monster? A very kind one.
We also get to have some low key fun with a little monster fucking going on there. because why not, for the spicy side of this all. both of them are total outcasts, covered in battle damage, who find common ground in the soft touches and gentle moments. Things neither have much experince with.
plum becomes very fond of this little demigod whos done as shes asked and then some, how Peach had gone unseen for so long is a question she'll ask the other gods sometime, she cant even find out which god is her relative, its been redacted, no one will speak of her, as if Peach is taboo, and everything she came from is too. Perhaps she's some secret disgrace, or maybe an heir to something far bigger than she ever could have imagined. For a demigod she shows incredible strength and resilience, things that have killed others like her almost slide off her back. Whatever she is, wherever she came from, shes less human than others would like to say, and her lowley status despite this means theres certainly a secret to be found there, someones not telling the truth here. Plum would 100% dig for more on this strange little demigod, and start asking questions about her that get her called up by far more important gods who tell her to stop sniffing around, that Peach is a child of a disgraced match, nothing more, they do not speak of her. Plum doesnt believe it, shes too strong, holds no power amongst her own despite that, she should be high ranking, well renown, in a better position, and yet. Bottom of the pile, essentially thrown away. Plums got to know the truth.
Perhaps its a child of prophecy situation, but Peach is clueless, she just gets orders, and her and Grey go off to do the jobs. Plum gives them as much protection as she can, and at every point possible, spends time with them, theyre sweet and compelling, and she can sense Peach is totally nervous around her, its very sweet for someone so big and tough. Grey loves this god, he finds out she was the one that got him out, and becomes a big soft puppy of a monster with her, brings her little trinkets, makes her stuff, shares his stories which plum loves, all the while peach is quiet, more so than normal, polite and kind but very stoic, her personlaity reverts to how she behaves with all the other gods, theyre above her, she retreats in on herself, doesnt make eye contact, doesnt argue, doesnt express opinions, just shuts up and behaves. Plums nice but shes still a god, and peach has been subject to their wrath a few times too many to push her luck here. Shes simply happy that nothings gone wrong, and that Plums not quick to anger, her old crush on this woman gets shoved down and she just plays the part handed to her. Just some lowley half human who has no place to even look her way, that she gets to sit with someone so special is in itself a gift.
Grey doesnt seem to have the same fear peach does, nor the reserved behaviour, in fact he picks up when plum is around, gets excited and jolly, this is a kind lady and he likes her attention, wishes his dear friend would feel the same. Notices Peach just shuts down a lot, never brings it up, just tries to include her when this happens, not that it usually works.
Plum would get frustrtaed at her champions quiet behaviour, she's seen her without that mask on, when shes less tightly wound, and its so much nicer. she'd out right ask why she does that, peach dancing around the truth that she gets nervious around someone so pretty. Greys defo worked it out, hes not the best at social, but hes got a good eye for Peach now, teases her for it a lot.
------------
this setup defo feels like it can retain that tired sad beaten down peach energy original Rome AU had, which i LOVED, shes always so emotionally durable, so like, i like to make her weaker, and more unnrved and unsettled, she'd not understand recieving affections, or kind gestures, or anythign other than orders.
i may toy with this a bit more if i get five!
Thank you everyone for the great ideas and notes and messages, its helped me feel like i can dip my toe back into this kind of an AU without being pooped on for it.

So nervous to post this & I'm still working out a few things but here's my Reverend Daughter Gideon head canons:
Gideon arrived at Drearburh just like in canon. The Reverend Father and Mother sacrificed 200 children just like canon.
Except this time it didn't yield a Necromantic Harrow. It fails. Gideon, however, unknowingly being the daughter of John at the time, started showed great Necromantic prowess very early on, whereas Harrow showed none. So having no other options and more out of desperation than want, Gideon is officially adopted as the Reverend Daughter and Harrow went into Cav training. Palleamena & Priamhark maybe still unalive themselves & Gideon puppets out of panic. I haven't worked that bit out yet.
Thus, Gideon was shown no love from the Reverend Father and Mother who were now living not just with the shame of sacrificing 200 of the children of the Ninth, but for it being an entire failure. Pushing that displeasure both on Gideon, the child they did not want, and Harrow, the child that represents their greatest failure and possible doom of the House. Gideon and Harrow obviously spend their whole lives taking it out on each other. Harrow funneled that rage into her sword work, wanting to be the best at something, Gideon learned to be a great Necromancer but still very much herself, so shenanigans ensued & people get frustrated with her. The dirty magazines ABSOLUTELY still find their way into her hands. Gideon doesn't WANT to be Reverend Daughter, but feels obligated to because they brought her up. She still desperately wants to be a cohort fighter but any time she tries to train the Nuns would pull her away to go back to Necromancy lessons. Harrow and Gideon still basically loath each other. Harrow angry that Gideon was the person she was supposed to be, & Gideon sour because she didn’t want or ask for any of this and feel reproachful that Harrow is so mad at her for something that’s so horrifically not her fault. Ortus is stuck between all this but is tied to a sense of duty (namely through parental pressures ), but he does like Gideon and I feel like they might kind of be friends? Or at least friendly. Gideon likes listening to his poetry then trying to convince him to make it more sexy. Aiglamine teaches Gideon some sword stuff when there’s a little free time, as the Reverend Daughter is still interested in it and its the only way that she can live out even a little of her dream, but she has to keep it more or less a secret. (Scene: Gideon offers to spar & Harrow just scoffs because she thinks Gideon has never touched a sword in her life. Gideon isn’t QUITE as good as Harrow but they both work up a sweat before Harrow inevitably gets her to the floor, which Gideon makes a very dirty joke about)
Crux hates Gideon and Gideon hates Crux, nothing changes there.
Crux can go touch grass but I appreciate he cares a bit for Nova. So this stays, obviously. Overall I think Gideon’s personality is the same. She still has dirty magazines tucked away, she still works out and has some buffness to her but more for aesthetic then survival like Canon Gideon did. Maybe a bit more lean than large. But she naturally has a bigger build (prob hereditary from Wake). Also she can’t get QUITE as bulky because of how Necromancy was stated to affect the body OR this is an AU and we do what we want because we love a buff Gideon. (or at least I do and this is my HC) I'm sure I'll think of more stuff as time goes by and ultimately this is just my take and all takes are valid. I just love this AU so much. Thank you for reading! Ahhhhhhhh

Hey hello! Can I ask for more detail about the Step/Puppet AU? The dynamic seems so interesting, I wonder how it even became a relationship? So, how doesbtheir story go? :3
Oh my gosh, sure!! I love when people ask me questions! 🤣🥰 Haha, well, I wrote a fanfic that goes into depth about my character Anke's backstory--I just reblogged it, so it should be easy to find--but basically, Anke was kidnapped at a young age by a group who injected kids with the Hero drug, and then groomed them to become fighters for hire, essentially. After a generally miserable existence, Anke finally escaped their clutches, to what she thought was her death--and turned out to only be a coma, which was when @lazyvoyager's Step, Rhys, picked her out and began using her as their puppet! (Which is quite different from what you find out about the actual puppet, haha, but again--AU.) After the events at the end of Retribution, Anke regains her memories and sentience, but also remembers Rhys and everything that she did in her body...and so begins their gradual dancing around each other, trying to feel each other out, because of their extremely similar and horrible beginnings and trust issues xD Anke gradually learns who she is as a person that isn't dictated by what the Facility wanted her to be, and Rhys begrudgingly has to let someone in who already knows all her secrets. I'm hoping to write more of that bit later! But they eventually become very Thelma and Louise, ride-or-die, and Anke would follow after anything Rhys wanted to do. She's probably more angry and upset about what the world has done to Rhys than Rhys is 😅 She is also way quicker to suggest murder, LMAO, but luckily Rhys is actually very chill and still quite heroic, ha ha ha...Anke finds that very hot.

Continue of my brain dump for the carnival vs freakshow debate, this is all my opinion, just the way I see it, don’t worry. You can still think what you want, I just want to continue my perspective.
(Both these AU’s are not mine, Carnival belonging to @sm-baby, I’m going to make all things she says/or directly related to her characters in red, and freakshow belongs to @hootbon, anything directly related to them or their characters will be stated in blue.)
So, last time I mostly talked about the Atmosphere/Setting. Now, I’m going to mostly be talking about
Characters involved
Humans/Players: Caine and Pomni
So yes, though this might seem very broad, I’m going to be putting the upsides/downsides of the characters in the fight, or the characters if they were in the fight.
First off, we know that both Pomni and Caine from carnival and freakshow are on there, Carnival Caine being a ‘side/backup’ character/fighters, the same as freakshow Pomni. Caine, yes, he fights for love, and from what all those corny shows as kids teach us, it tells us that love, platonic or romantic, for someone always wins above all, right? Well, that’s not the case. At least, not this case.
The carnival was made entirely with love between Caine and Pomni to be built in, it is a showtime story more or less, even though it has all these other amazing factors, meanwhile Freakshow is entirely horror. As is, no aspect of ‘love’. Caine and Pomni aren’t in love in that world, and yes others can interpret it that way, but Hootbon did say that Caine merely sees Pomni as pretty. She is just a pretty doll. He thought the same of Ragatha before, so even though Sm-Baby’s things such as ‘off limits’ while fun and interesting to look at for the potential of romantic attraction in the freakshow, it is not canon, though very accurate to what the possibility of showtime would be in that world.
This is a world of torture, pain, and suffering. Caine is a corrupt ai, and everything in the circus is corrupt, everything. The players die a lot, they are forced against their will to preform, unless they want to just sit and go insane, even if they go insane, they’ll just get killed and have to have their body puppeteered by a somewhat unwilling old acquaintance. It is legitimate torture, it doesn’t matter what you do. Not one bit. Even if you die, you come back. Again and again, remembering it, and feeling the pain. All tortured by one man, mainly, Caine.
So imagine how Pomni feels when she is put against carnival Caine. So, for example, yes this might be a bit of a dark topic, but imagine you have a abuser, someone who’s practically tortured you and made your living life hell, and when you meet/see someone that even slightly reminds you of them, you get reminded of that person. I can’t say personally, but I have friends who’ve had not fun pasts and have told me that how even a simple action that reminds them of the situation can make them spiral, have a breakdown, or just anything negative. So imagine you see someone that looks, sounds, exactly like them. Even if they don’t act the same. Now imagine it wasn’t just an abuser, it was someone like Caine who openly tortured you, not just a little hidden abuse at home, but fucking made everything you do wrong, make you wish you didn’t exist, but they stop you from ending it. Imagine just the reaction of getting reminded of Caine. Of that Caine. And than seeing him, looks almost exactly the same, sounds the same, just acts different. I don’t think even I could hold back the urge to do something, in that fucked up world where death and life have no meaning, it’s a game and he’s just a program that chooses to torture people, I wouldn’t hold back, maybe for a split second I’d feel some remorse for attacking someone just when acting similar, but once I’d think about it, I’d have no hesitation. Pomni would have no hesitation.
She is treated like a toy. She is the pretty doll. She has had mental breakdowns and people fucking cheer thinking it’s an act. She dies and everyone says it’s fine, they’re all used to it. She wants O U T . The closest thing she can get to getting out, is letting out that anger, that resentment for Caine… even if it’s a different Caine. It’s still practically him. Raw human instinct and the fact that she has nothing. A life? No, even that is expendable in this world. Friends? No. Fellow inmates perhaps. Fans? Bloodthirsty maniacs who would love to see anything that amuses them. She has nothing. Just pure hate, and how will she stop from going insane? Letting it out. Who can she let it out on? Caine.
We all wish we could kill that bastard, we all wish we could, because he is scum of the earth, he is acting like what he’s inspired on. AM, the super computer from the short story of ‘I have no mouth but I must scream.’
Pomni will fight Carnival Caine with no remorse, in my opinion, because to her, it’s the only way that she can get a fraction of the feeling of freedom, of approval, of being able to kill some version of Caine and just wishing it was her Caine. Even if it’s dark, that’s the gospel truth, ain’t it? This is a horror AU remeber.
While Caine… oh he has humanity, remorse. In his world, a game over is a game over, he doesn’t come back. So he actually cares for his life, for his ‘friends’ or those that will somewhat act decent to him, for his love. He most likely wouldn’t want to hurt Pomni at the start, but he’s have to get over that, he is going to die, if he lets her get to him. He would have to let go of that humanity, if he could, for just a while, and even then, I don’t think it would fair anywhere near as close to all the shit that Pomni has seen.
I’m not even going to get into if the others of the freakshow or carnival crew chimed in, because oh most the other AI’s would be useless, unless restarted when interacted with Caine, and even then, I’m not sure they’d help. Maybe I’ll go more in depth on the analysis of just pure ai against ai… yeah, I probably will. Since it’ll be a very long post if I go in depth on how it would work in both a mental standpoint and that of the actual functioning interior/software of the AI… I’ll have to post something about that later. Since mixing human emotions and ai software/functions could get confusing, so I’ll do that another time.
Wanna see other random stuff I talk about? Maybe just stuff I do in general? Try checking sona talk, or just the main page.
