Watching a short piece my kid wrote go viral* (11,000+ notes and counting).
Of course, this has attracted a bit of discussion and critique, as well as a handful of outright ass-trolls. But the vast majority of responses have been very positive.
She's been handling the negativity pretty well. But I think she's a little shocked by the response, too :-)
You and Harry had always raised your son with good morals. But then again, you both applied those morals everyday so by nature your son copied off of his parents. You and Harry treated everyone with respect and kindness no matter what and it was something you both were proud of. So when you're son was born, as parents you both worked hard to instill good values into him.
Well, today was when all that hard work paid off. At your son's school, a new student was introduced. He was different from the other children as he was missing an arm. Some kids shied away from him, while some treated him in a unintentional patronizing way. You and Harry were seeing your son off at the door and giving each other pity looks for the boy. "Aww poor kid." Harry said. You nodded in agreement. Your son without blinking an eye went up to the little boy and started talking to him like he would anyone else.
The boy seemed happy to not have someone treat him so differently than everyone and they happily went inside to class. The amount of pride you had in that moment was indescribable. "Our little boy...." you started. "Not giving a hoot about how different someone is. He has a way with people." Harry finished. "Oh I can't wait to give him a big hug when he comes out from school later on today." Harry wrapped his arm around you as you two walked off to the car.
My 5 year old son did this set up. He told me the story of what’s happening. “He just put sand on this guy’s shoes and then turned around to play his banjo and there is a Rescuebot hiding in the giant head. And a skeleton is spying on them.” He told me where he wanted the camera so I helped with lighting and working the camera. I’m very impressed with how well he did. #prouddad #actionfigures #dungeonsanddragons #toyphotography #dnd (at Dallas, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpSlL56O8Pz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
My little boy ain’t so little no more. 🥹 13 years old today…these next few years are gonna be even more important in preparation for his transition in becoming a young man and the big world that awaits him…but today, I’m just gonna love on my son, celebrate him, continue to see him, hear him, confirm and affirm him, and letting him know I’m his biggest fan.
