Continuing with September Emergency Preparedness month: A great addition to a family first aid kit is making sure you have your prescription meds as well as over the counter meds. I put together a dedicated med pill box since I’ve spent more time on the range and camping with groups and more often than not, I’m asked if I have the OTC (Over The Counter) meds for allergies, headache, results from grabbing a quick meal that disagrees with them or a bug bite. I wanted a well organized set up that doesn’t take up a lot of room and can transfer from back pack, med pack, tackle box kit to vehicle kit for road trips. I’m using a @planofishing Guide Series Waterproof Stowaway With Dri-Loc Technology for my OTC pill and med kit and at about 5”x9.5”x2” it doesn’t take up that much room with room for two to five items each which is more than enough. Disclaimer: I’m not playing doctor, diagnosing or prescribing anything to anyone out in the field since I don’t have that level of certification. If someone knows their symptoms and directly asks for it, I’ll have it on me and make life a little easier. Anything trauma related, I won’t give them anything that could make their conditions worse while waiting for EMS. Use good judgement and exercise caution when giving someone something even if it is OTC meds. Today I took some time to work on fire skills (kajutsu) with my kids! Not going to lie, I used an old ferro rod that has more bumps on it than “Bobs Road” on the back 40! 🤷🏼‍♀️ I used this to make it harder on my daughter, since she usually uses a nice straight/smooth ferro rod.
