tl;dr: I don't have a conclusion. Just lots of love and sympathy.
We have so little info to understand why Chay decided not to go through with his uni exams.
Oh yes, he might be just an ungrateful little shit. Let's hear it for the boy, tho.
At the very beginning, when the situation got tough, Chay asked Porsche to sell the house and move somewhere cheaper. He also suggested, that it's not the time for getting education.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It seems to me that Chay doesn't think that his education is a form of "fighting". He's wrong, but Porsche didn't tell him enough. That unresolved issue still stands many months later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe Chay when he says that he likes music. I believe him when he said that he chose Antranameka because his celebrity crush is studying there. Why Chay is making such a rough decision? I don't have an answer satisfying in its fullness. Just these thoughts.
Nampheung told very very young Porsche that he mustn't die before Chay will finish his education. Porsche's dream was to fulfill that request. Many sacrifices were made, Chay knows. Chay doesn't want sacrifices from him. He wants piece and love and his brother alive and near. He can make sacrifices too.
Then Chay comes to the point where in several days period he learns that Porsche is in grave danger. That his first love was lying about loving him back (that's what concerns Chay the most about Kim). That his life now is changed beyond recognition. He needs strength and time to regroup. Chay still doesn't have a confidant, a friend who can help him. Ohm is trying, bless him. Ohm is helping a bit with the heartbreak. But since Chay says later that Porsche doesn't have to tell him all and Chay himself doesn't tell Porsche all of his concerns, Chay doesn't consider Porsche as support, but rather as a part of the problem. He must support Porsche now. Just on his own terms.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chay starts behaving like Porsche when he has problems. He turns to the vices, he changes his look and he... sacrifices? He makes decisions for himself. Maybe for the first time in his life he makes such an important decision as he did about the uni.
It wasn't about the money for Chay. It was symbolic from the start. To help his brother by being good Nong and good student. But did Chay think that it was a fair trade? He is the smart one. He grew up and saw that it was unfair for Porsche.
I never forget the first thing Porsche said about Kim, when Pete told him as little as "Khun Kim moved out a long time ago".
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will talk about it later, hopefully, when I finish that big long-ass post about Kim, Korn and conspiracy that eats my draft folder like a bunch of termites.
But Porsche. Porsche is opposed to that. He doesn't want to be an egoist. He is responcible, he is a good son. It is cultural thing too, which I'm only now learning, so I hope I understand this enough not to make grave mistakes in my conclusions.
So, Porsche doesn't like egoists. Does Chay count himself as one if he let Porsche do such awful things for him like being in mortal danger? I think he does. When Porsche made stakes so much higher and didn't even tell Chay, all bets were off.
In the end (of the series) Porsche didn't change anything from this drastic situation Chay found himself after the kidnapping. So the changes were on Chay then. Chay is no longer trusts Porsche with his problems (he didn't in the past too, I guess, but there were little kid problems which Porsche didn't need a permission to solve). I guess there had to be a confrontation between Kittisawat brothers at the beginning of s02, where Chay's uni application would be the cause, but the reason would be elsewhere.
Well, we'll never know. I just think that Chay believed that he was solving something. Sacrificing his dreams to get off of his brother's back. Maybe he planned to run away, who knows. Or to join Porsche in that fighting on equal footing. One thing is clear to me: Chay didn't want a normal more or less safe life while his brother would be risking his. Yes, Porsche had other reason named Kinn. But what did Chay really thought of Kinn? Chay answered Kinn's questions, he tried to be friendly, but it was romantic love which tied Porsche to Kinn and romantic love just bit Chay on the throat. If Porsche is happy with Kinn, so be it. Chay thinks he can take care of himself so his brother wouldn't have to. Porsche was his age and supported them both. And Chay wants, Chay...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he still is barely 19. Kim reminded him that his decisions can have severe consequences. But the thing is, you can't be told about it. The only way out is through. Chay went that way.
He threw everything he loved in the trash (well, the guitar and all the WIK merch didn't fit but it's the thought that counts :)), because pursuing it makes him an egoist (and Kim talked about sacrifices too, they both were similar in the way that their older brothers let them pursue their dreams by cost of their own (and it's Kinn who let Kim have his long leash, Korn didn't let Kim shit, and Kinn is a hostage in exchange)) and is an empty canvas now. His talking shirt is giving us a hint.

[thread fic] 04.
introspection, fluff, kinnporsche: happily living in the countryside after not returning to the mafia, content in spending the rest of their days catching fish and talking.
twitter link
-
“Do you regret it?”
“Hm?” Kinn turns to look over his shoulder, hoping that the fish he’s cooking over the bonfire doesn’t suddenly burn as soon as he stops watching it.
“Staying here,” Porsche gestures to himself and the wilderness around them, “With me.”
Kinn rakes his eyes over Porsche’s appearance - he’s a little worn around the edges, his clothing frayed and dusty from hiking around the terrain, but his eyes are bright and warm as they reflect the flickering flames of the fire. Porsche picks up on the intense look and shifts in his spot, a telltale sign that he’s becoming shy, but he doesn’t look away just yet.
“Come here,” Kinn says, turning back to the fish. It’s perfectly crispy on the outside, and even without any seasoning, he knows it’ll taste good. He’s gotten used to this now - the small things in life that he took for granted before after being waited on hand and foot for as long as he could remember. Yet, the simplicity of it all - of not being able to season his food like he once did, or not being able to take a hot shower whenever he wanted, or not having constant access to everything at all times with his phone or tablet, has finally faded into obscurity when faced with the things he does have now.
Porsche sits with him, crossing his legs and pressing their knees into each other's for reassurance. This is another small thing, the constant presence of another person next to him, someone that has stayed with him despite all the signs pointing him to run the other way and never look back - this is the thing he’ll never take for granted. Porsche is full of tiny fragmented pieces that all add up into something so big that Kinn still can’t quite fathom that he’s lucky enough to have this: a life, just the two of them, alone and free from the immediate worry of having to be anything else apart from themselves.
Kinn sits back on his haunches and hands over the stick that has the fish on. They have a perfectly good set of plates and cutlery now, hidden away in cupboards in their small home just up the hill, but there’s still something so comforting and fulfilling to sit outside under the stars, their only source of light and heat being the poorly cobbled together fire they’d made earlier, as they sit and trade stories into the night.
Porsche glances at him, but takes the fish and starts picking it apart, immediately giving Kinn the first bite. Kinn smiles around the mouthful, playfully nipping at the tips of Porsche’s fingers to make him yelp and flinch back.
“I don’t regret it,” Kinn finally answers after he’s finished chewing his food. “I get all this - freedom, happiness, no responsibilities, and I get to have you, too.”
Porsche’s scowl melts off his face, opening up into something more youthful. Wide eyes, lips parted, and so hopeful that Kinn can’t believe that he’s his.
“Sap,” Porsche snips, but there’s a small smile blossoming on his face. “I don’t regret it either.”
Kinn nods, grinning right back at him. He recalls how truly glad he is that their brothers had all banded together to cover for them this whole time, funding their life secretly while also taking turns to come and visit whenever they could. They’re the only ones who know that they’re still alive, out in the countryside and thriving.
“Why did you ask?”
Porsche pauses, his hand halfway up to his mouth with flakes of fish between his fingers. “Because I don’t want this to end,” He huffs a laugh and shoves the fish into his mouth, “I just… assume that you’d wanna go back one day.”
Kinn’s heart thuds in his chest, the cool night breeze slicing through the contrasting heat of the fire warming their skin. He shivers, goosebumps rippling over his body.
“I’ll only go when you want to go,” Kinn answers honestly.
“Then we’ll probably never leave,” Porsche chuckles, humming in contentment as he eats. He always does this cute little shoulder shake when he’s eating something good, the corners of his lips curling up at the corners like a content kitten that’s finally gotten its first taste of cream.
Kinn bumps his shoulder into Porsche’s, who immediately returns the gesture and offers him another bite of the food.
“Guess you’re stuck with me then,” Porsche jokes, but he can hear that underlying worry that he wishes he could erase for good.
“Forever,” Kinn promises, placing a chaste kiss on Porsche’s cheek, feeling the pleased glow of them beneath his lips.

The grey shirt (and other outfits)
While I can understand @chaotic-beautiful‘s view that the shirt stands out from the rest of Kinn’s clothes, I can’t agree that it’s bad 😁 I feel the same as @itsayellowdaisy in her post.
KinnPorsche costume design masterpost
Kinn’s usual choice is a smooth or velvet texture that screams quality and wealth. He looks polished and accomplished. The colours are muted or dark.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At home he wears outfits with satin shine which show his love for comfort and also his sex appeal. He indulges himself.
Tumblr media
We first see the grey shirt when Kinn feels the need to dress down because the bar is not as fancy a place as he is used to. The shirt has an absolutely different texture, it’s more raw and looks very down-to-earth. Kinn also looks (and is) more approachable in it. Then we see the wild night out and the pier scene where despite all the complaints about dirt Kinn still follows the moment and lies down in it. He’s not risking ruining anything white in that shirt, and he dares to open up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see it for the second time when Kinn goes after Porsche to his house. In the scene Kinn is actively trying to reconcile, and he even ditched his bodyguards. So I believe he wears the shirt when he tries to be on an equal footing with Porsche. Kinn also wears rougher textured fabrics in the hotpot scene and in the hotel scene. In both cases he is also trying to get closer to Porsce and wears his heart oh his sleeve (that’s obvious to anyone but Porsche).
Tumblr media
P.S. - The only outfit that I dislike is the velvet one that Kinn wears to the auction. With the traditionally black buttons for a tux outfit he looks like a snowman 😭 And look at Kinn’s blue silky bathrobe! The sleeves are too long 😢

can't get over how chay and porsce's mother kept looking at chay when they met, it was kind of chilling, what was she thinking? is she disappointed in how soft he looks? or sad that she missed out so much, plotting to use him?

Somehow, i am realizing this now
Like every moving frame in ep 13 is just SAD...there really is no comedy, no lighter moment.. JUST UTTER SADNESS
Vegas X Pete -
Please, everything was sad. From opening sequence, to cooking, to self loathing, to running away, to asking Porsche to believe, to the bar and the deluge of sorry’s
Porsche X Kinn -
Porsche was not happy. Kinn could sense the entire episode that he is not the safe and the most trustworthy or goto person for Porsche. That hurts.
The pool scene, from Porsche’s perspective was a breakup/crap is about to happen sex. Kinn was trying to comfort Porsche and really TRYING VERY HARD to not directly ask Porsce. He was giving Porsche the freedom to come and talk about it on his own terms, when Porsche felt ready to.
Kinn was a really good boyfriend this episode.
Kim X Porschay
we sure do need that side story
Tankhun
Even his comedy has sad undertones
Korn and Kan
Even they were sad; hiding the truth from kids because it is complicated...but Korn is struggling...lost his sister, trying to protect his dumbass brother

KinnPorsche Character Appreciation: Khun Korn Theerapanyakul
So I rewatched EP7 of KinnPorsche and I learned something. Khun Korn, the mafia clan patriarch, may not be in the running for Father of the Year (because you know, he IS MAFIA) but he really does his best for his men and most especially his children. .
He may not be the kind of dad who would shower his kids with warmth and affection. Most of the time he is stoic, though he speaks in a gentle manner, he is very much commanding (it comes with the title, I know). He knows his sons so well and understand them in way only a devoted parent could. Though at the surface the mafia family comes first, deep within and in a casual way, his children are his priority. But as much as he loves his children, I can feel his guilt for raising them in such a dangerous environment and his actions reflect that. Yes, he is not your typical dad, but just like any parent, he wants what is best for his kids (no matter how twisted some people may perceive it).
For Tankhun, his eldest and the supposed heir, he let’s him get away with pretty much anything. Though it is obvious to everyone who is going to take his place, Tankhun is still revered and feared, not only by his men but the rest of the clan as well. As somebody who holds such a fragile position in the kind of life they lead, Tankhun is considered a liability. And those who wants the seat could smell the slightest hint of weakness and would definitely take advantage.
Khun Korn could have locked away Khun in a remote place somewhere very far from their base, but he did not do that. Instead, he surrounds him with bodyguards (though sometimes I think Tankhun is better off without) even if Khun just stays home most of the time. He assigned three security, to always be with Khun inside a house full of bodyguards even if all they do is play and watch TV. He made sure that no one would make fun of Tankhun and as his eldest child, receive the same respect as a member of the major family. That may be part of the guilt he feels towards his son, but he is making up for it as best as he can. (I missed Khun in EP7).
Kim, his youngest, has probably the most freedom. The one allowed to just come and go inside the massive house. Do something he loves which is completely not related to anything mafia. Though that may be the case, he ensures that his trusted people watch over him (though I’m quite not sure about Big). Kim is like his redemption, that one kid he could feel less guilty about because he could have him distanced from the life of the mafia (but Kim is snooping around, for what, I have no idea). So he is okay for Kim to live separately while keeping an eye out for his son.
As for Kinn, the one he is molding to take over the family someday, he is equally lenient and strict. In their line of work, again a minute flaw is reason enough to shake and question the leadership. Khun Korn knows that Kinn’s preference is being used to put doubts in his ability to lead the major family. I love his acceptance of Kinn for who he is and at the same time teach him how to show the rest it would not be an issue. He trusts Kinn’s judgments, but as the leader, he is there to remind him of his duties. I might be in the minority here, but I love the subtle pressure he puts on Kinn and the manner of which he tells him. When Porsche was drugged, Khun Korn straight up told Kinn he was aware he slept with his bodyguard, he was not angry but Kinn understood he is being admonished.
Kinn knew he was not being scolded for sleeping with his security, but rather for showing people (their enemies really) that they could get to him through Porsche. The punishment was just a standard procedure since Porsche was really at fault (geez he was on duty, he really should not be drinking, regardless of what was being offered, and I think Porsche got that too when he had the time to think things over. He was just sulky because he never thought Kinn would actually punish him after being intimate and that Kinn was being cold and indifferent. Porsche is sensitive, yes but that sensitivity is tripled because he is in love, but that is for a different post).
That entire conversation about a knife ruined by the apple juice was actually brilliant. It is not about Khun Korn being against Kinn and Porsche’s developing relationship nor it was a hint he would get in their way. I saw that as an encouragement for Kinn to let go of something old and useless. He did say that he wants the “old Kinn” to return and I believe he is pertaining to the Kinn who was not as paranoid as the one right now. I guess before Tawan, Kinn was not as ruthless, maybe just enough as a scion of the ruling family (hmm, perhaps this Tawan not only broke Kinn’s heart and caused his trust issues, this dude perhaps endangered the major family as well). It was Khun Korn’s way of saying you are with somebody better now and to hold on to that one. So what did Kinn do after that conversation? He escaped from the hospital and went to see Porsche. Gave him his lucky gun, engaged in a flirty banter (with that gun reference) and showed his care and support with a forehead kiss (sweet!).
So yeah, Khun Korn may come off cold and aloof but he cares for his sons like any parent would.

Khun Korn
I confess that I caught myself laughing when I remembered all the speech of kinn's father during the chess game, about weaknesses, risks and blah blah blah, where then Kinn makes Porsce go through all that punishment and still replaces him with another one at work, only to go after him unprotected afterwards, because Porsche has spent a full day out of his sight and he can't wait JUST ONE week, and with that, putting them both in far greater danger…
I'm sure Khun Korn must be VERY angry with his son right now!

I've seen a few people act shocked about this moment. But all I could think about it, is that Chay might have experienced something vaguely similar in the past!
As we already know they did informal loan! Porsce told it multiple times and we've also been shown how it was like!
He probably knows a little bit how to react in situations like this, even though knowing and being able to successfully evade the situation, are two entirely different things!
