hello coming directly from your ao3 comments to your inbox to continue being unhinged your world building in space persuasion was sooo good, and i would love love to hear about the space media that inspired you! i also thought you translated SPACE so so well to F1, and i would love to hear just in general about how you went about making it feel so complete and real! and do you have favourite little details that didn't get a lot of airtime in the fic that you want to shine a light on to make me feel even more insane?
thank you kay!! 💖✨
i love love stories set in space - probably my favourite space film is sunshine (2007) but that is not really the vibe of space persuasion lol. i did make a lil visual inspo pinterest board which features the space casino from the last jedi, the hostesses from the fifth element, the casino de monte carlo and the blue lagoon in iceland (i saw a youtube video while i was warming up to write this fic and i was like, this needs more lake, and also someone take me to the spa pls). daniel's skiff is basically a lift from disney's treasure planet (i looked up some windsurfing terminology and i have Not retained it) and i watched the wachowski sisters' speed racer for some wacky races inspiration. the fleet is somewhere between battlestar galactica and star trek (don't worry about it). unfortunately the whole massive ramp/platform in the middle of the lake setup is heavily influenced by the triwizard tournament, because as loathsome as jkr is sometimes images from childhood stay with us! sticking the rest of this under a cut whoops
secret little details... the whole offscreen galex plot of them trying to pick up max's investigative slack in the background lol (and also they're in love). the annoying AI in daniel's room is my version of michael (sorry not sorry) and max's AI that kind of has his accent is supposed to be like a reminder of his mum (he also keeps the scrap of fabric from his mum's dress and his sister's bracelet with daniel's dogtags). i tried to somewhat mirror the structure of persuasion where there's the big incident at the centre of louisa's fall (daniel's crash in the fic) and then the back half of the story is about them coming back together.
when i write AUs i like to try and use related imagery so in the story there's like the three main strands of space stuff, casino/gambling stuff, and austen/period drama stuff, and all of it made me like unreasonably happy. my favourite space imagery is probably the stuff about comets - daniel remembering them watching comets together on the outpost and then thinking about getting to touch max every few years like a comet returning. favourite gambling image is probably daniel calling himself a bad bet, and also when he describes zak as a busted flush. so many self-indulgent austen references and half-references but a few i like are daniel telling alex he barely recognised max - shoutout wentworth describing anne as so altered he should not have known her again. any time daniel flexes his hand that's 2005 darcy. daniel lying down on the floor is johnny flynn knightley. daniel giving max the dogtags when the only thing he had to offer was himself/wentworth having nothing but himself to recommend him. and so on! daniel half-hoping when he touches max's hand at the gala a ref to the wentworth letter, half agony half hope etc, and then max's version of the letter as well obvs
also it's not austen without dancing imo so rule of three: when daniel bumps into max outside the spa they do an awkward shuffle-dance to get past each other; the actual gala where daniel asks max to dance but max thinks it's a joke; when they fuck and daniel thinks of it as a dance they've always known the steps to.
also i could have probably built up to a bit better but i like the lil bait and switch in the race where he thinks fernando's going to get him but actually it's jenson! and after he called him sweetheart and everything
lol thank you lovely kay for affording me the opportunity to go off about it!! 🪩

hi hello i’m LOVING the updates on ropes and fangs and I really can’t wait to see where this project takes you (already the growth in writing from the first snippet to the one you just posted aarargagarg i could go off about how much ur style has evolved but but that’s not truly why i’m here)
what advice would you give to someone who really wants to branch out into writing “homebrew” work who really has only written fan work. where would u recommend posting or how? if you have Any Idea of who Else I could bother about this pls let me know
I’ve been wanting to post some of my more original work for a series I’ve been writing but I just. Don’t Know How (fan work is already something I struggle with cause I can’t seem to write anything that means to someone else what it means for me)
Tumblr media
jfhdask BLESS you, moth; your timing is impeccable, as I was working on r&f this morning >:3 <33
so. ADVICE. You've been writing Homebrew Blorbos, and you want to get other people interested in them. The first thing I will say, is that it is hard, and it will always be hard. getting people invested in your worlds/characters takes work, and without the fandom platform, it's difficult to direct traffic your way in the first place. i.e. ao3 has an original fiction category which is good for hosting a work you don't want to publish, but it's not as if people follow that tag there.
I love reading original work, but I need one of two things to get me to read it: one, I love the author's fanwork and want to read more of their writing (if I love your fic, I will read your book okay); and two, the concept itself is interesting / what I'm looking for -- but for that, I need to find it first.
so. how do you get traffic your way?
tumblr is a good means for advertising. so. there are online writing communities on tumblr that only write original work, and only write the kinds of things I'm interested in reading. it's how I found a few authors whose books I've bought >:3 my advice is to look into tags that contain the same themes / dynamics of your original work, and see how other people are posting their work / talking about their work, and what gets the most traffic. learn from others!
I won't be posting large sections of my original work on tumblr, because once something is out there, it's out there. people can and do steal fiction and self publish it on amazon. also, as much as I love tumblr, it's not a good place for publishing full works, as it's clunky as hell, and posts older than a month vanish into the nether.
so you need to decide what your want to do with your original work. will it become a book? will you post it as an online serial, and then rework this first draft into a book? (like the gabe and odessa fic!) aside from tumblr (which has a thriving short story / serial story community), ao3 (for fic hosting) and amazon (you can publish your story as a serial there, although it's US restricted, and difficult to get noticed amidst the crowd), I don't know really of any other good original fiction hosting platforms aside from self publishing.
(real publishing is a nightmare, and if that's your goal, kudos to you! I know a few authors in fandom going that route for different genres, and they are incredible writers, but breaking through is goddamn difficult.)
but if you just want people to read it, and give you feedback, then talk about it!! post snippets / chapters, talk about the characters, utilise the tags on tumblr and ao3 to find people with similar interests.
...one thing I will say though, as a final note, is from what I've seen, the quality of original work by people not in fandom <<<< people in fandom. you've had years of practice writing characters and scenes, and once you make that leap into original work, you're pretty much set <3

Won't You Shine With Me (Oh Distant Star Of Mine)- Hekster, Kam, Marelliana, Fedex
Act 1 (here). Act 2. Act 3. Act 4. Act 5. Act 6.
Or read on ao3 here!
Word count: 3.6k words
Okay so! A few weeks ago I watched an anime called Revue Starlight, which is basically a magical girl anime about theatre lesbians swordfighting each other with lots of feels. Me, having feels decided I needed to make an au for kotlc
No knowledge of the anime needed at all! I highly recommend (so good!!!) watching it on general though, it's only 12 episodes, and there's extra stuff i don't even deal with in here
I... know very little of theatre, which is a huge part of this fic, so pls disregard/correct things that don't make sense. (Also pls pretend they're all the same age so they can be in the same class)
There's lyrics! Written "with italics and quotation marks"! "Bold" means that everyone involved is singing, and "outside bracket (inside)" means one party sings the part outside, while the other sings the inside. Lyrics written by me except there's no actual song so they're just mildly incohesive lines but i worked hard!
Warnings: censored swearing

ACT 1
SCENE 1
Keeper Of The Lost Cities. A play about a Telepath and an Empath. The Telepath's arrival in the Lost Cities was a harbinger for struggle and change. Various threats tried to demolish the system that the people lived by—though it wasn't like the system was necessarily as good as the people had believed it to be.
So the Telepath and the Empath ventured to the Point of Purity so they could seek out the best way to save their world. They'd already had the power of sunlight and moonlight, all they needed now was the light of the stars. Once the star and its light was obtained, they would have the power and wisdom required to make their choice.
The Empath turned to the Telepath with a relieved smile, relieved that they had both made it here. However, instead of feeling relief from the Telepath, the Empath could only sense dread.
Before the Empath could voice out those concerns, the Telepath pushed the Empath off the platform they were both standing on.
No one ever saw the Telepath again, nor what the Telepath had done with the light of the stars.

SCENE 2
Keeper of the Lost Cities again? Stina thought.
"Each year, the classes perform two plays. One of them is an original that the playwrights will create, and the other is the play that you've performed last year. By performing it each year in your high school years, you'll all be able to see just how much you've improved."
Mr. Forkle droned on and on about what was going to happen, how the playwrights had already started on their revised script and the auditions for Keeper of the List Cities would start soon.
It wasn't like they'd never done this before. As Mr. Forkle himself had said, they'd performed it last year.
Stina knew that she should pay more attention, that she should care more, she had every reason to care, but honestly, she was having second thoughts about whether coming to Foxfire Music Academy was even worth it.
Was it worth trying to build her entire future based on what she'd decided ten years ago, when she was five years old? What did five year old Stina even know? She was too naive, clung too easily to false promises.
"It's time for practice," Linh said quietly, gently easing Stina from her thoughts.
The class went to have their warm-up stretches before there was any actual dance practice.
"Hey Wonderboy, help me out," Dex said, and Fitz quipped a reply before holding Dex's leg to tilt it upward, while Dex wrapped his arms around Fitz to stay balanced.
Neither of them looked like they enjoyed it, but this usually happened every day.
"Hey, go lower," Biana told Marella.
"Alright, alright," Marella said, bending down even further.
"On three," Tam said to Keefe. "One, two, three."
The two of them started squatting down to a chair pose, arms linked and their backs touching for balance.
"Hey, easy, Bangs Boy!"
"If you couldn't even do that, I'll get the lead role for sure."
With stretches finished, Mr. Forkle had them each take turns practicing some of the dance moves. Those who weren't dancing were singing.
Fitz and Biana went first, completely in sync with each other, because of course, those two Vacker siblings were the best at everything. Dex and Marella were the next duo, not as in sync but they made up for it in flair, incorporating more advanced movements to make themselves look better.
Show-offs, Stina thought.
It wasn't really about them being skilled. They were just upset about how bright the Vacker siblings shined, and they both wanted to prove that they were just as good, if not better. She wasn't sure if it was even worth the effort. Probably not.
Stina went through her own movements on autopilot, and she could tell when Tam dipped her that he wasn't really impressed. Whatever. It wasn't like she was doing this for him.

SCENE 3
"Today, we have a new student who has transferred here," Mr. Forkle said.
Stina, who had only been half paying attention sat up straight. A new student? That was odd.
A short student walked into the classroom. The student was pale with golden-flecked brown eyes and blonde hair was adorned with a clip of a moonlark. Stina's own alicorn hair clip that she used to keep her hair out of her face felt heavy on her head.
"Hi," the student began, "I'm—"
"Sophie Foster."
The student froze at the interruption, and it was only when everyone turned towards Stina with inquisitive stares that she realized that the voice had come out of her own mouth.
Sophie stared at her with wide eyes, looking just as shocked as Stina felt. This couldn't be real, how could Sophie be here in her school? Something like that wasn't possible, because she was supposed to be in an entirely different continent.
"Do you know Sophie, Stina?" Mr. Forkle asked.
"I knew her," she replied, looking at a wall.
The temptation to stare at Sophie was strong, but she also knew that if she did, she wouldn't stop staring, her eyes would seek out all the ways Sophie had changed and the ways that Sophie had stayed the same after so long.
(She couldn't bring herself to look at Sophie and have hope.)
"That's good news. The desk in front of you is empty, and it would be good for Sophie to be able to sit with someone that she is familiar with."
Stina could hardly process those words until her sight was flooded with blonde hair.
This couldn't be real. She probably fell asleep in class again and was now dreaming of Sophie Foster.
Stina pinched herself. Sophie Foster was in Foxfire, was really sitting in front of her.
Mr. Forkle's words as he explained what was going on went in one ear and right out of the other, her body moving on autopilot to the dance room. Her brain felt like a train had run into it.
When Sophie was asked to show what she was capable of, Stina realized that she really shone so brightly. Sure, she fumbled at first—classic Sophie—but once she got going, she was smooth and elegant and it was as if she were glimmering.
So this was Sophie Foster now. She couldn't say she was surprised, because she'd always known that this was going to happen, but actually seeing it happen in front of her was completely different.
When lunch came, Stina thought that Sophie would have sought her out, that they would have gravitated towards each other like friends always did. They hadn't seen each other in ten years, shouldn't they talk?
Stina got tired of waiting for Sophie to come to her, and got up so she could just find her on her own and they eat their lunch together. When she eventually found Sophie, she was holding her lunch with one hand, using her phone with the other, talking to Dex excitedly.
Stina turned around and walked away.
So what? So what? Five year olds were young and stupid and Stina was stupid for thinking that they could continue from where they'd left off ten years ago. Why did she even think Sophie would remember? Ten years was a long time. Whatever.
She walked back to the lunchroom and sat down at the table her friends sat at. Well, they weren't quite her friends, but she didn't hate them either. Fitz and Biana were kind of stuck up, like the privileged rich kids they were, but Dex and Marella made snarky comments that made them seem like normal people. Keefe and Tam bickered all the time, always claiming to want to surpass the other, but it could be entertaining to watch from the sidelines. Linh was gentle, but in a purposeful way that was to never be underestimated, and was probably also the reason why Stina hadn't been driven mad from being around this group.
"So," Keefe began, "you know Foster?"
"Foster?" she asked dryly. Since when did those two know each other enough that he'd use a nickname for her?
"Yeah, Foster," he repeated, "C'mon, answer the question! How do you know the Mysterious Miss F, our transfer student?"
"She was a friend from when I was younger," Stina replied.
Linh hummed, then gave her a knowing smile. "Oh, is she Sophie?"
Marella was next to react. "Oh, that's her?"
"Wait, who?" Keefe asked.
"Ohh," Biana said next.
"Were you snooping in my room?" Stina asked.
Marella closed her eyes. "It's Linh's room too, you know. And if you have the picture on your nightstand it doesn't count as snooping."
Okay, she had to give her that one. Still, it was one thing for Linh to know, because Linh was her roommate, and another for the other girls to know too.
"Yeah, it's her."
"Are you excited?" Linh asked.
"Even if I was, it's not like it matters," she replied, leaning back, letting her legs against the bench seat keep her up. "Things change in ten years."
She revisited the thought that had been in her mind for the past few weeks. Maybe even longer. When Sophie walked into the lunchroom, Dex beside her, Stina thought that it was a good time to voice it.
"I think I want to switch to the stage production group."
The mild chatter from the others ceased, all heads turning to her.
"You want to do what?"
"You know I'm not one for self-deprecation, so I'm fully aware that my acting skills aren't that good. And maybe I do have "potential" or whatever crap Forkle would say when I eventually tell him I want to switch. But does potential even matter if going into acting doesn't feel like it's worth it anymore?"
Everyone at the table looked genuinely concerned. Sophie looked at her with wide eyes, as if feeling betrayed. Stina would be lying if she didn't feel any satisfaction from seeing that expression on Sophie's face.
What reason did she have to feel betrayed, anyway? A promise made ten years ago was never likely to come true.
She could feel Sophie's gaze on her as she ate, searing as if it were a brand. Stina simply ignored her. Even throughout their next classes, singing and theory, she could tell that Sophie was staring.
If she wanted to say something, she should just say it.
After all the classes were over for the day, Stina began making her way to her room, when she was stopped by Sophie.
"Stina," she began, and Stina felt hope surge within her. "Could you... lead me to where the rooms are?"
"The girls rooms are this way, follow me," she said, stamping out the hope. She really was an idiot, huh? "What's your room number?"
Sophie looked confused. "Foxfire hasn't given me one?"
Stina sighed. "How are you supposed to stay in a room if you don't know which room you're staying in?"
Silence. The two kept walking. When Sophie didn't say anything, Stina's mind started running full-force, coming up with an idea that was bound to be awful. Before she could stop herself, she blurted: "You should sleep in m—
"Can you lead me to the office?" Sophie asked. "Wait, what did you say?"
"Nothing." She needed to get a grip on herself before she tried to say anything else that was stupid.
Sophie stared at her, unconvinced. "Okay, I won't press on that." Then her face fell. "About earlier, what you said..."
Stina knew exactly what she was talking about, she was referring to when Stina said that she didn't want to act anymore. But Stina didn't want to talk about that.
"See that door over there?" She pointed to one of the academy's buildings, a blue door that had foxfire mushrooms glowing faintly around it. "In there, first door on your right."
Sophie began walking.
"You can just leave your luggage with me for now, you don't have to drag it everywhere," Stina told her. "My room's number 204, you can get it there."
Sophie nodded. "Thank you."
"No problem."
Sophie dragged the suitcase so she could give the handle to Stina. Their fingers brushed, and all at once, various memories flooded her: the feeling of Sophie's hands in hers as they ran and played; the wide, genuine, cheek-hurting smiles that adorned their faces; the breathless giggling; the heartfelt promises—
Sophie left, and Stina dragged the suitcase to her room, her heart pounding.
"You're finally here," Linh greeted. "And what's that?"
"Sophie's luggage. She needs to go find out which room she's staying in."
Linh nodded, then went to take a shower. Stina sat on her bed and looked out the window. To her surprise, she saw Sophie running.
That is the opposite direction to where I told her to go, where is she going?
Before she could decide otherwise, Stina put back on her shoes and began running after her. She was a fast runner and knew her way around, she was able to not lose track of Sophie, though only barely.
Why's she going back into the school?
Stina kept running and caught a flash of blonde hair going into one of the classrooms. When she got to the door, she realized that it wasn't a classroom. It was an elevator.
Since when did Foxfire have an elevator over here? And it leads to the basement?
She stepped inside the open elevator and pressed the down arrow. It began falling without any warning. She screamed, and was she going to die???
She was launched out of the elevator and landed on a soft, red seat.
"Holy sh*t," she breathed. "What the f*ck."
Once she finally regained her composure, she looked around. In front of her was a large stage, and she was sitting up in the audience's seat. Two large spotlights from opposite sides of the stage. Two people stood in the centre: a girl in red and a boy in black. While the colours and finer details of the outfit were different, they both wore a jacket and a skirt that went down to their mid-thighs. They both wore a pelisse jacket over one of their shoulders, held on to a white sash by a golden aiguillette and golden button.
What? Are they—
"The light of the stars ignites our burning hearts."
The two people sang, facing each other and lifting a hand elegantly. They spun away from each other in a series of chainé turns.
"We've made a vow to become the Top Star."
Those two actors weren't just ordinary people.
What are you two doing here?
Those two dancers were Sophie Foster and Tam Song.
"I'll use this rage of mine to tear the night apart!" Sophie sang, unsheathing a sword that gleamed in the light.
Tam sang next, unsheathing his own sword, "I don't intend to lose here, I call for the dark!"
All the lights turned off, the stage turning black save for the faint light that shone on Sophie, and a series of letters that briefly glowed way above it all.
☆ REVUE OF BEGINNINGS ☆
Then even those letters faded into the darkness.
"Revues..? What is this place?" Stina murmured.
Tam continued singing, but no spotlight shone on him, but she could see him appear in brief glimpses as he charged at Sophie, a ghost in the darkness, swinging his sword. Sophie, who struggled to see, could only barely parry his attacks.
"You're going to f*cking kill her!" Stina yelled.
Not having seen Sophie in ten years, Stina couldn't say much about her, but in the little bit that she knew Tam, she knew that he wasn't so reckless, wouldn't get himself in whatever swordfighting event this was. He was a serious, responsible person. So what the hell was he doing?
"Interesting!" A voice said from beside her.
Stina whirled around and saw a horse. No—not a horse. An alicorn.
"Revue!" The alicorn said cheerfully.
There were swordfighting duels in Foxfire's basement, and there was an alicorn watching it (since when did alicorns exist???).
What the hell.
"Song! Dance! Compete! Shine! Brightest light! Become Top Star!"
"You're telling me that they need to compete in duels to become the 'Top Star?'" she asked.
"Knock off! Jacket! Win!"
The constant pauses between words and the relatively monosyllabic way the alicorn spoke confused her, but she was starting to understand what they meant. As she looked closer at the revue, she could see that Tam wasn't blindly swinging, nor was he aiming for below the shoulders. Each swing was meant for that golden aiguillette that held the blue jacket Sophie wore to her shoulder. The swings grew increasingly precise, Sophie spinning around and around as she tried to guess where Tam would attack from next. She'd grow dizzy at that rate, and that was probably what Tam was intending on.
"She's going to lose!"
"Stina audience! No disrupt! No compete! Only actor compete! You give up acting!"
That was right. Stina had told the others that she was going to give up on acting. Her passion, her desire to act came from a childhood dream that seemed to be long gone.
She's going to lose.
Tam kept singing, his voice growing louder, and now multiple spotlights were shining on him. His swordfighting on the offensive, his singing the loudest, his movements the flashiest; Tam owned the stage, he was the brightest of the two.
Sophie had fulfilled part of her promise, she had promised to come back to Stina. Didn't that mean that Stina had fulfil some of hers too?
She stood up and took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come next. She made her way to the aisle, then took a few steps back. She ran and jumped off the balcony, the promise singing throughout every part of her body.
Sophie and I will become stars together!
As she landed, she slammed her weapon on Tam's, preventing him from making the cutting blow. She wore her own purple outfit akin to the other two.
"On this colourful stage of light and dark,
I shine like a shooting star!
Reborn, I am Foxfire student, Stina Heks!
A dazzling night sky will be created!"
Her entrance speech was overdramatic and cheesy, but Stina Heks was on the stage now, so she would fall into the role that she needed to play. All the spotlights were on her now.
"You shouldn't..." Sophie murmured, but Stina ignored her.
Instead, she focused on Tam.
"What are you doing here?" he asked.
I can ask you the same thing.
"You have the blaze of your own hopes and dreams,
My passion to act, embers that burn so low."
She swung her axe with a surprising amount of grace, considering that she'd never used  weapon like this before. Tam leaped back, for once, on the defensive. The stage lit up, all traces of the shadows that Tam had used as his surprise weapon gone.
Their weapons clashed, again and again.
"Yet in this fight, I refuse to concede,
For I have a promise to uphold!"
She poured more of her strength into her next swing, knocking him slightly off balance. It was all she needed to go in and cut off the aiguillette, his red jacket falling to the floor. She grabbed him by the arm and dipped him, a mirror to their dance practice class yesterday.
He looked shocked and annoyed, wrenching himself from her grip.
Stina twirled to the centre of the stage, looking right up at the alicorn as she slammed the axe on to the stage, the bit piercing the 'T' symbol on the ground.
"Position Zero!" she declared, "I am Stina Heks!"
By putting herself in position zero, she was casting herself as a prominent role—the lead role.
Giant red curtains closed, blocking the view of the audience's seats.
"Audition one! Over!" The alicorn announced. "Stina win! Stina actor! Stina compete revue!"
Stina looked down at Sophie who was hunched down on the ground, looking up at her with wide eyes.
"I saved you, Foster."
Sophie closed her eyes. "You shouldn't have come here."
"Why not? I just saved your *ss, didn't I?"
"I would've won. You shouldn't have come here."
Stina huffed, putting a hand to her hip. "I see why Keefe calls you the Mysterious Miss F. You've got to tell me what's going on, because that alicorn—"
"Her name's Silveny."
"Silveny won't give too many answers, I think. Not in the way I want them at least."
Sophie kept quiet.
"Fine. Just... you don't have to bother going to the office, just sleep in my room."
Sophie's eyes widened. "But there's only two beds—"
"Sleep in mine," she blurted, "it's big enough for two."
"Are you sure?"
Today was a day that Stina kept saying things that would surely turn out bad for her, but she found that she didn't want to actually take back those words. She couldn't even make the excuse that they'd shared a bed when they were younger, because they hadn't.
"Do I make half-hearted promises, Foster?" she asked, then immediately winced and turned away, too afraid to look at her reaction. "Never mind."
She finally gathered the courage to look at Sophie again, only to see that she was gone. "Sophie?"
"Revues secret!" Silveny said. "Reveal secret punishment!"
"Punishment?"
Stina woke up in her bed.

my ask tag is #liv got mail if you'd like to block it!
hello!! ૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა
⋆.*゚ minors/ageless blogs please don't follow or interact
i’m in my late twenties! i’ve lived a full (-ish!) and good (debatable!) life.
i know i’m just some random girl on the internet and that i can’t force you to do anything (or not to lie to me), but i really do ask that you please consider for a moment just how uncomfortable going against this simple request could make me, or any other user who asks this of you. there is nothing wrong with being a minor. there's not even anything wrong with not wanting to put an age indicator on your blog. but at the same time i'm well within my own rights to ask, if either of those things are the case, that you keep our experiences on this website separate by not following me or interacting with my posts.
if you are a minor/ageless blog and are found to be following/interacting with my posts you will be blocked, and if it continues to be a persistent issue i will delete my blog and stop posting my work--for my own safety as much as yours.
⋆.*゚please don't steal my ideas
i know that parallel thinking is a thing. i don't claim to be doing anything revolutionary. i don't claim ownerships of tropes or character archetypes or generic conventions. that being said, please don't plagiarize/otherwise copy my work. it feels AWFUL.
i also get you might see a hyper-specific, detailed headcanon/drabble/post and be like 'hey i like that idea and want to make it a full fic!'. i get that you might see a title (in this instance I mean the more specific or distinctive ones I've come up with)/line of dialogue/scene in something i write and be like 'hey i'd like to use that in my own work!'. i get that you might see a piece of writing for a character you don't know but think it applies to a character you love and want to adapt it to suit your own tastes/fandoms.
but just... please don't. it's hurtful and incredibly devaluing to see someone else trying to take an original idea (that you have put time and effort into nurturing and developing) and present it as their own.
there are so many ideas out there for you to come up with, i promise you that you don't need mine.
⋆.*゚don’t repost/recommend my work on other platforms (ESPECIALLY TIKTOK)
please. please. I don’t care if you're saying nice things, or if you’ll credit me, I don’t care if you’re translating it, I don’t care if you offer to literally send me money.
i appreciate the sentiment SO MUCH. it means more to me than i know how to say that you have read/enjoyed something I made, but PLEASE don’t do it—it makes me very uncomfortable.
⋆.*゚pls don’t send me/ask for fic recs uwu
i am MUCH MORE of a writer than a reader, and i tend to be really particular about what i read in my free time/when the desire to read fic does infrequently strike. that being said i reblog EVERY fic i read and tag it #fic recs - and if you're looking for a specific character try #(character name) recs!!
that being said PLS feel free to tell me about what you’re reading if you need somewhere to rant/gush!! i enjoy hearing about stuff that makes you happy!!
⋆.*゚be nice!

just the keys to paradise
jatp au - prologue - part 1/15? - 1834 words
relationships: blaine & sam & tina & artie
okkkk we're doing it 🤪 idk how regularly i will update this (omg ongoing fic??? who is she) but i do have like technically a ~few~ chapters i guess done,,, and i am working on the next so . we're gonna try this lol
anyway if it wasn't clear this is an au based on the most amazing tv show ever with only 9 episodes pls watch or rewatch it on netflix the emmy-award winning julie and the phantoms !!! 🤪
that being said if you haven't watched it what are you doing jk i think you can still read this and hopefully it makes sense 😂 feel free to ask me if there's anything that doesn't make sense lol :)
also fyi in case it influences your decision to read: this will be more focused on platonic relationships for a while but will almost certainly have main endgames klaine, quinntina, and samcedes 😋
prologue title and lyrics in this part from "now or never" from the jatp soundtrack
plot and some dialogue from julie and the phantoms so like credit to all those creators and writers 🤪
warnings for this part: car accident, major character deaths (both of these are not actually in writing/"on screen" just implied at the end (especially within the context of this being a jatp au) and nothing really described -- if you want/need more details feel free to ask me)
read on ao3 or under the cut :D

1995
“Dudes, we fucking killed that !” Sam cheers when the smoke has cleared, going around and giving each of them something that could be called a high-five, just not to their hands. Tina laughs and cheers too as Sam excitedly taps her feet after she gets out from behind her kit, still elevated on the drum stage. Some of the workers applaud them from the audience space.
“Too bad we wasted that on the soundcheck,” Artie jokes, putting his guitar down and grabbing his water bottle. “That was the tightest we’ve ever played, yo!”
Tina grins and hops down from the drum platform. Sam slings an arm around her shoulders and she grabs his wrist. They’re both sweaty and too warm but she doesn’t mind having Sam’s heat pressed against her right side.
God, she thinks… that really was something else, even though it was just the soundcheck. She looks around at her bandmates’ faces -- shiny with sweat, red with exhilaration and exertion, bright with elation, eyes wide with excitement and --
Wow. They’re playing the Orpheum.
Blaine pats Artie on the back, jostling him enough to spill the water he’s trying to drink down the front of his shirt, but Artie just laughs -- he’s soaked with sweat anyway. They have spare clothes backstage just for this reason.
“Just wait until tonight, guys, when this place is packed with record execs,” Blaine says, looking out wonderingly into the empty (for now) audience. His grin widens almost imperceptibly, which is impressive considering how huge it already is.
“We’re gonna be legends!” the other three of them chorus, before Blaine can, and they laugh when he turns to them, affronted. “That’s my line!”
“It’s what you get for saying it ten times a day for the last month!” Tina teases. Blaine pushes her shoulder playfully, putting his hand within reach for Sam to grab. It’s a strange position considering Sam’s arm is still around Tina’s shoulders, but Tina adds her hand to their hold as Sam beckons Artie over from his side of the stage, barking out his name with joking anger.
Artie puts his water down and walks over to complete the group, placing his hand on top of Tina’s. “Tina, you were smokin’,” he says.
She rolls her eyes a little and grins back. “Pretty sure you’re just talking about the pyro. You guys were the ones on fire,” she says, pointing her drumsticks around at them.
“T, can you just own your awesomeness for once?” Blaine exclaims.
“Queen T!” Sam calls, pulling her closer into his side. She stumbles into him, laughing as the guys all start cheering it after Sam.
“Okay, okay! Thanks, guys, I got it!” she squeals, trying to get them to quiet down although -- they are in the Orpheum, where they’re playing later, it’s not like they have to be quiet -- while Sam leans his weight on her, causing them to stagger into the drum riser. Tina catches herself on it and Sam finally detaches from her and they’re still being loud and raucous and probably somewhat annoying to the staff, but she’s just laughing too hard to care.
“We’ve got an hour ‘til the show; I say we go celebrate before we become legends!” Blaine proclaims, jumping off the stage. The other three follow.
Tina starts, “Celebrate our last night of being -- ”
“Losers?” Artie interjects.
They’ve caught the attention of one of the Orpheum workers -- a woman with brown hair who’s wiping down the tables, smiling at them as Tina catches her eye. “There’s some nice restaurants around here,” she says with a wink. “You guys really killed it, by the way. But it seems like you know that.”
Blaine laughs, a little sheepishly. “Thanks. Uh, I’m Blaine,” he says. “This is -- ”
“Sam, hi!”
“Tina, how’s it going -- ”
“Artie, hey.”
Tina raises her eyebrows and stifles a laugh at Artie as he leans his sweaty arms onto the table that the woman just cleaned.
“We’re Sunset Curve!” Blaine says to complete their introduction.
“Tell your friends!” Sam calls, raising his voice and drawing the other workers’ attention to them. Tina elbows him lightly in the side.
“Nice to meet you,” the stranger says. “I’m Elle. So… what were you guys thinking for this -- what was it -- ‘celebration of your last night as losers’?”
“Well, we really can’t afford any nice places -- ” Sam starts.
“Oh, you know what? We should just go to Tip Top!” Blaine says, clapping his hands together. The others are quick to agree -- it’s the small, cheap diner where they spent the evening after their first “real” gig, and they’ve spent countless hours there since, annoying the staff and depleting their supply of plastic silverware. The employees there have learned to let them take what they legally can (and sometimes what they couldn’t), and the band is friendly with most of them. They haven’t been there in too long, having been working hard to get the Orpheum gig, and then writing and rehearsing like crazy once they got it.
Elle smiles as they excitedly and loudly recount stories of Tip Top to each other -- sentimental memories and the ridiculousness they got up to -- talking over each other and having multiple conversations at once.
“I guess you don’t need my recommendations?” she says lightly.
“Oh! Yeah, sorry, we’re good, thanks so much for offering,” Blaine answers, polite as ever.
“Have fun! Looking forward to seeing you guys perform again tonight.”
“Thank you!” the four of them exclaim as they make their way back to the exit. Tina yanks on the back of Artie’s shirt as he lingers at the table, a dumb look on his face that tells her he’s trying to flirt, or at least, his version of it.
“Tina!” Artie yelps and she laughs at the annoyed look on his face.
“You are not exempt from this last night of loser-dom celebration. You’re telling me you’d rather flirt with a girl than this?”
“Yes,” Artie grumbles. There’s no heat behind it, and Tina playfully pushes him sideways.
“Plus, we need you to drive.”
“You can drive!”
“Technically we all can drive!” Tina laughs at Artie’s horrified expression, probably at the prospect -- and memory -- of the one time Blaine drove them to a gig. “Just not your car!” she calls, jogging to catch up with Blaine and Sam, Artie running after her. “Your car is the fucking worst.”
“Don’t talk about her like that!”
“Blaine and Sam agree!”
That gets their attention and the two guys turn, Blaine asking, “What are we agreeing with?”
“I agree with Tina,” Sam says immediately. Tina nods gratefully at him.
“You don’t even know what we’re talking about!” Artie complains.
They’re at his beat-up car now and they pile in, Tina in the passenger seat laughing as Sam all but tackles Blaine into the backseat when he starts for the driver’s side, jostling her and Artie in the front. They continue shuffling around while Artie attempts to start the car, to many concerning -- but normal for his car -- noises.
“This thing is gonna go down and take us with it, Artie,” Tina mumbles teasingly, absentmindedly twirling a drumstick in her right hand. (She realizes too late that she probably should’ve left them at the Orpheum, but it’s not a big deal -- they’re not her favorite pair which are safe in their studio and she has extras backstage in case something happens to this pair while they’re out.)
The car finally starts with a rumble and Artie lets out a cheer. “We’re fine, T. Let’s go, y’all!”
“Floor it, Artie!” Sam calls from the back. The car accelerates comically slowly even as Artie presumably “floors it,” but they’re going somewhere.
After a few minutes, Tina finds herself unconsciously humming her solo in the bridge of “Now or Never,” only noticing when Sam interjects suddenly with his “Tomorrow!” leaning between the front seats and slightly startling her. She laughs and continues with the words, “‘Cause we got all we need today! ”
“Today!” Artie echoes, miming his guitar playing with one hand on the steering wheel.
“Living on a feeling that’s been running through our veins!” Blaine sings loudly, joining Sam in crowding into the front of the car.
“We’re the revolution that’s been singing in the rain!” It’s Sam’s line, but they all belt it at the top of their lungs together.
“That’s my line!” Sam exclaims at the same time that Blaine cheers, “My favorite line!” Tina continues to clap the beat for the next part of the song, Artie hitting the steering wheel in rhythm with her. Her face hurts from smiling.
“Artie, dude, where’d you go?” Blaine asks suddenly. Tina looks around at their slowly darkening surroundings that are completely unfamiliar. Slight panic rises in her stomach but she swallows it down; she’s with her boys, they’re safe, just a little lost.
Sam bursts out in uproarious laughter as Artie complains, “You guys distracted me!”
“Told you I should’ve driven!” Blaine says. He leans forward again and Sam follows. Tina stays quiet, pressing herself against the door a little to make room; her boys aren’t that much better but she’s always been completely hopeless with navigation and directions.
“You would’ve gotten even more distracted from singing and veered us right into a fucking building,” Artie grumbles, but he obeys as Blaine directs him to turn left and chooses to ignore his comment.
“Safe driving, am I right, dudes?” Sam cackles as he returns to the backseat, and Tina can’t help but laugh with him. “We’re gonna miss our gig, that’s how we’ll be legends!”
“‘Sunset Curve Skips Orpheum Showcase For No Reason’?” Tina suggests, turning around in her seat to face Sam.
He points at her. “Exactly. Or, 'Sunset Curve Skips Orpheum Showcase Because They Don't Know How To Drive.' The end of a promising career,” he jokes somberly. “No one would ever book them again.”
They fall silent and only the mutters of Blaine and Artie fill the car, along with the loud engine.
“Still haven’t figured it out yet?” Sam groans loudly, laying on his back across the backseats as Blaine is leaning awkwardly out of his seat to help Artie navigate.
“Not like you’re helping!” Artie says.
“That’s the street!” Blaine exclaims, pointing ahead. “The next intersection.”
“Give it up for Mr. Blaine Anderson, everyone,” Artie drawls, speeding up the car a little bit. “Perhaps not able to drive, but navigator extraordinaire.”
“You chose the wrong career path, dude,” Sam says, propping himself up on one elbow to clap Blaine’s shoulder. “Like, songwriting?”
Blaine looks down at him, raising an eyebrow. “Songwriting?” He gestures for Sam to continue.
Sam shrugs, sitting up finally. “Just, you know, songwriting, bro…" His gaze suddenly shifts and fixes at a point beyond Tina. "What th-- that car Artie!”
Tina snaps her gaze away from Sam just in time to see him yank Blaine down into his seat and the set of blinding headlights through the car windows in her periphery.

as a final note, i'm not sure if it can be seen this way but i'm not trying to erase artie's disability or anything and i believe i'm not doing that; as you might be able to guess, the car accident at the end of this is what paralyzes him, like in glee canon but just several years later (in his life not in actual time). please let me know if any aspect of this is disrespectful or anything <3
#i guess the warnings do kinda spoil it but it is the main point of the show lol#bye i'm stressed alksdhfgkajdhkkdsjf#kurt and the phantoms#i'm making a fucking tag for this yeahhh#will probably go back and tag some things where i shared lines or whatever lol bc i couldn't shut up about this 😂#this will be following the songs on the soundtrack... all of them not just the ones that are episode titles 👀#i'm really excited i love my ideas aksdghdfjkghlsdfjghkasdjf#so i hope i can do them well haha and i hope posting will help me keep motivated#but also i'm just really excited about it and want to share#and kinda reminding myself how i'm fine with wips being not updated for a long time or abandoned like it's not too big of a deal#so if that happens with this the person i'll be disappointing most is myself 😂#omg now or never came on shuffle while i'm putting it on ao3 a sure sign i should post lmao#what the fuck is ao3 doing putting spaces after italicized words excuse me???? kldhgklsdjfgh#AHHHH ok shit here we go????#dude editing this took way too long and it was just removing fucking spaces before and after italicized words after copying and pasting#from docs to ao3 and then from ao3 to tumblr???? why ??????#so i have forgotten anything else i wanted to say lol i will also put other tags in a second#ahhhjkdgfhkjlsdfgkahd;lkjadfghsdljighaksfd#glee#glee fic#jatp#julie and the phantoms#blaine anderson#tina cohen chang#sam evans#artie abrams#glee fanfiction#my ficsssss#ALSO this is why i've been on some blamtina bullshit lately lol 🤪 we got some blamtina comingggggg#and kurt of course ahhhh :DDD

If ur still doing the questions thing I would love to know ur answer to
3,4, and 28
hello anon !!
3. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?
hmmm that is actually a very good question. i don't entirely know what makes my writing stand out. sometimes i think its my ability to write such long pieces and i'd like to think my descriptive writing is alright !! i never entirely think of my writing,, its all kinda in the moment and what have you.
4. Are there any writers that inspire you?
do you know what ?? i am SO GLAD you asked me this question,, whilst unfortunately my obsession with twilight and stephanie meyer got me in to writing fanfiction without even knowing,, i do have an odd nostalgia to it so i cant entirely let go. but in terms of my writing now,,, bestie there are so many writers on here that inspire me.
@slythersxth is one of the people that got mein the snapedom and i am so glad we met because they have such a lovely enery and i love talking to them,, i would recommend reading coughing up lilies on ao3 also PLS PLS PLS CHECK OUT THEIR ART BECAUSE BESTIES THEY ARE GIVING TALENT
@eternal-silvertongued-prince is one of the besties of course,,, alan rickman supremacy knows no bounds. she is a genuinely kind person and KNOWING THAT SHE WRITES AND WRITES GOOD !?! I AM INVESTED. the moment she posted her first fic i ZOOMED TO READ IT,,, in many conversations we have had she mostly writes non fiction stuff ( ie: essays and theses ) so seeing her come into the writing community makes me not only happy but very very proud of her for doing so !! the thanksgiving dilemma is one for recommendations and i would seriously appreciate if you gave her some love for her fics
@amazingzou is my girlboss !!! my biggest fan,, she is just a BUNDLE OF ENERGY AND EVERY TIME I GET THE CHANCE TO TALK TO HER IS SOME OF THE BEST. she just exudes a radiant energy and i only have nice things to say about her. even if we are literally 10 hours apart i always cherish every conversation we have. and yall have no idea how lucky i am to have met her,,, if you are ever in need of a hypewoman girlboss,,, SHE IS THE ONE
@insomniacaesthetic ah yes. ashlee. firstly let me just say that i ABSOLUTELY LOVE ASHLEE. NOT ONLY AS A PERSON BUT HER WRITING ?!?!?! ON A DIFFERENT UNIVERSE,,, WOULD REFERENCE FOR MY ESSAYS IF NEED BE !!! no but seriously,,, look up the definition of inspiration and she will pop up. they are an absolute gem and i dont think i can stress this enough. i am always SO HYPED to see what she comes up with,,, deadass im forever on the edge of my seat when she shares her writing and vice versa. ashlee OOZES inspiration and it shows in her writing and i would recommend reading ALL OF HER FICS,,, LIT RALLY ALL OF THEM. also all the conversations we have had.... GOD THEY MAKE ME LAUGH AND CRY AND EVERY EMOTION IN BETWEEN AND IM VERY GLAD TO BE BESTIES WITH HER
@deepperplexity now,, let me just say i LOVE PLEXX's writing is just.....wow WOW. im on their taglist so every time i see new fics from them,, I JUST GO RUNNING. her fics are the first thing i read in the morning and eventually the last. they are curently the host and creator of the rickmas event so PLEASE PLEASE SPREAD SOME LOVE TO HER because she has an absolute way with words and it is evident,,, this is another writer on here where i would say check out their entire masterlist and genuinely speaking you wont regret it.
of course there are many more writers that inspire me and i am very lucky that i have not only the people that appreciate it but the platform to do so 💞💞💞
28. How well do you handle criticism when it comes to your writing?
i am a capricorn i literally cannot handle criticism SJFJSJFJSJFJS,,, no but generally speaking i think i handle it well. of course there is a fine line between critiquing and advising to downright being rude and harsh to the creator. as a creative,, we spend a lot of our time and effort doing the thing we love,, whether it be writing or drawing or any form of art it is very important that we loft each other up and not be discouraged from doing so.

Okay so moc has been on my to read list since i found your blog (thanks to kinktober) but the length intimidated me but im not working rn so i think i want to start it soon! Was just wondering if theres any difference in experience wether i read it on tumblr or on Ao3. I just find reading lengthy things on ao3 easier bc if i need to stop mid-chapter or something i can close the app and itll still save my spot. Either way im super excited to start reading it! We love a good fic with lore 😭
eeeee thank you pls the length is RIDICULOUS 😭 i fully get being intimidated like if i saw a fic that long unfinished i’d be like damn bro... that’s a whole relationship commitment to make... but !! there’s really no difference at all between reading on ao3 vs tumblr, i keep the fic the same across all platforms as well as warnings and the order of chapters, all the interims are pushed to the end of the act on ao3 but they’re also there for more insight and not necessarily crucial to the main plot, ofc i would recommend reading them but you can also choose based off warnings n such, i have all that on ao3 too <3
