The world of KCD feels so alive.

Introducing The Lads in the prologue, as well as some rivals, who all show up later. They have stories too, not just one quest, but several, or you'll find them in new locations and a new situation. I feel obligated to do their quests because they're mates!

NPCs we meet or see in passing, also have multiple quests and develop some kind of relationship with Henry I wasn't expecting. (Dont get me started on Herman the executioner. I took a pummelling trying to steal from him lol, later completed the quest differently and now we're pals. I was delighted to play match maker and see him practically jump for joy 🥹).

I can't tell when an NPC is 'done'. You know, you do their quest and they turn robot with no unique or new dialogue. (Every now and then Lady Stephanie calls Henry over and wants to talk... I tell you I stop by whenever in the area in the hope of some new happenings. It really feels like an ongoing friendship/ affair!).

It's the first game I feel you actually 'make friends' with NPCs! I'm so attached to some, dislike others. And you know, they'll see you passing and call "Henry's come to see us!" And you know what, yes, I have cone to see you. I wasn't just running to a quest objective. I come to drink with my frens.

Also, just how brutal the game begins... I find myself buying all my horse tack at Neuhof, to help out after how rough they had it. I don't fight bandits who attack me with nothing but farm tools. They seem like desperate peasants, it seems quite awful to cut them all down for 7 groschen and some linens.

The side quests feel linked to world events, a natural progression. The world is happening around Henry, he isn't the Main Character. You're just a sopping wet lad- and everyone in game knows it.

The darkness always ends, Magdalene. We must remember that.

As terrifying as it would have been, I like to think there was a moment of peace there at the end, among the stars.

So... this is the next part of the Shakarian comic, but it's not the big one I said would come next. I've made the decision to put that on the back burner for now and pick away at it a lot more slowly while I continue on with what I originally had planned. The next thing you see from me will likely be the Joker-centric part I mentioned a while back, but for now please enjoy this rare coloured comic in the meantime.

did I watch another supercut of an Outer Wilds playthrough? yes. have I done it multiple times before and played the game a lot myself? yes

Will I ever stop bawling my freakin eyes out each time at the ending? No

btw the playthrough I saw was done by a astrophysicist and it was a great watch, I highly recommend it if you for any reason can't experience the game yourself, or if you're looking to try to remember the blind playthrough feelings as a veteran.

I highly recommend trying out the game first if you've never played it before. There can only be one blind playthrough of this game and it will be the best experience possible. Please try out Outer Wilds.

I finished act 2 again, but properly this time. and I cannot even begin to put into words how satisfying and beautiful all of that was. I loved act 2 the first time I played, but figuring out how to save the last light this time, properly completing halsin's quest, storming moonrise towers with jaheira and her harpers, seeing aylin reunite with isobel...all of it. I love it even more. and the beginning of act 3 feels all the more rewarding, having fixed my past errors.

actually thinking abt college dropout andreas now. kind of falling into the family trade because he couldn't hack it at university. he's excited to tread down the artist's path but ofc he feels deeply obliged to his family and has been told verbatim by his father that there's no leeway for him to fuck up again, that this second chance is already more than most people ever get. and so the prescribed life (allegedly his last and best chance to live) unfolds around him, and by the time he realizes what a deeply unpleasant shape it's taking he's stuck. and THEN at long last...(without spoilers)... there's a silver lining that seems to make all that struggle and uncertainty worthwhile, to give it a purpose in retrospect. a bright light. and then that blinks out too and what's left is an unfathomable dark.
