Fanfictions and Hinduism.
Those who are active on Wattpad, might know that there are many many writers (including myself) who tend to write fiction over itihāsa or historical epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, purely for fun and our love for them. It seems very odd, yes, and we do get to see blasphemy there too. People love some characters, hate the others with a burning passion and there are hour long debates over human nature, characterisations, myths involved, folklores and the many versions both of them have.
We have OCs, we make graphics and video edits, we pair the said OCs with CCs and sometimes with other OCs. The comment sections are the most fun things because writers and their audience interact there. Some works are much more impressive than published paperbacks while some are simply atrocious. You know it, shades are everywhere.
Now, very recently did I come to know that in Tamil literature, a fictional tale that is weaved around a couple or more incidents or points coming from the purānas or itihāsas is called a prabandha. Fun, right?
We do get to see fanfictions in Hinduism by the name of Pancharātram by Bhāsa (the one who also penned Svapna Vāsavadattā) and Kalidāsa's Abhigyāna Shākuntalam. While the latter romanticises and adds non canon events to the canon event of Lady Shakuntala and King Dushyanta's love story, the former is about a "what-if" scenario based on the Mahabharata.
So, do we promote fiction writings on such stuff? Definitely. I got much into the Sanatana culture solely via such fictions. They promote higher thinking skills, brainstorming, even fun facts many a times if the author is literate enough. And is that different from disrespecting scriptures and our very own ancestors? Also yes. Because neither of these authors claim to strictly follow the canon events. You do not like something you see, click away. As easy as that.
Do I support all of them, tho? For sure not. There are some which whitewash the bad guys and blackwash even the divine figures. Some straight up induce cringe. But that's just my opinion. A debate is always based on facts, not personal opinions. So yes, you do you.
But are they also dangerous? Umhm. Look at the Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. One word : atrocious. Some modern day prabandha style novel which sat a little above average in my reading experience? Abhaya by Saiswaroopa Iyer is the one (she's also written Mauri, Avishi, Draupadi and a few more if I'm not wrong.) (Abhaya is an OC paired opposite Kanha and tbh their chemistry was chef's kiss jsjshdjsjd-)
Should you write such, if that is what you want? Yes! I'd love to read-
But do you have to be careful with the message you deliver via your work? Swayam vichar kijiye *wink wink*
Some fanfictions which I may recommend. Note : not all of them involve OCs. All of these are from Wattpad. The authors' usernames are in bold.

Who can join?
Everyone. Whether you’re new to the fandom or you’ve been around since way back when Uther was still king, you’re more than welcome to join and share the love. No sign-ups required.
And we do mean everyone. As long as you do what you enjoy, we’re happy to see what you create, whether that’s edits, gifs, drawings, fanfiction, character analyses, poetry, playlists or anything else you can come up with!
Are there any minimum requirements?
No. We’ve chosen to host a low threshold event. As long as you feel like your post fits the theme, you’re good to go.
The goal here is to create something for Camelove2021 to fit the theme of the day. Other than that, you’re free to contribute in whatever way you like!
We do ask you not to share someone else’s work without their permission and to tag appropriately (NSFW and/or trigger warnings).
Asks about this topic: 1. 2.
What are the themes?
You can find them in this post (which you can reblog as often as you like to spread the word!).
The idea is to pick one (or more) character(s) who fit the theme and to create something about them.
For example: The day 2 theme is: “Knights in shining armour” - This means you choose your favourite Knight(s) and create something about them. If you choose to write for a pairing, the person you pair your Knight(s) up with can be anyone! Another Knight, any other character from the show, an original character, ... If you choose not to work with a romantic (or other) pairing and you’re giving them some good old self-care (bubble baths are the best!) that works too!
Asks about Day 2: Knights in Shining Armour: 1. Asks about Day 3: Wait... What? “It’s Wednesday”: 1. Asks about Day 4: Cupid’s Aro: 1. 2. 3. 4. Asks about Day 5: The More the Merrier: 1.  Asks about Day 6: Always by your Side: 1. 2.
How do I know if what I created fits the theme?
We’ve given short descriptions of the themes we felt were a good fit.
As you can see, we’ve focused on the characters the day’s contribution should be about. The idea is to show one or more characters who fit the day’s theme some love. The way you fill that in is entirely up to you. (Yes that means angst, unrequited love, platonic love, lost love and even some good old self love are more dan okay!)
If you read the theme and have another idea, just go with it! If you feel like your work is a good fit, that means it is. And when in doubt, our ask box is always open!
Asks about the themes/content in general: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
Any restrictions on content?
This event is about celebrating love. We aim to be inclusive and open-minded, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have to watch out when it comes to protecting our minors. This is why we ask of everyone who participates to tag appropriately. We ask you to use #NSFW ( for e- and m-rated fics or for any content you feel should be tagged nsfw). You can find more info on tagging here!
If you don’t want to see all content, make sure to filter out the tag #NSFW when visiting our page, and we’ll make sure to tag everything that’s not suited for minors accordingly.
That being said, we have decided not to reblog anything that could fall under one of the following categories: racism - homophobia - discrimination - incest. Thank you for your understanding!
If you’re a minor, we would like to ask you not to contribute anything that’s considered nsfw. Not because we don’t care about your work. But because we care about you!
Asks about this topic: 1. 2. 3. 4.
Are collabs okay?
So you’re saying you want to embrace the Camelove and pair up with someone? Please do! If you work together with someone, make sure to tag all the creators when you post your finished work!
And of course, never post anything without the creator’s consent! Collabs only work if everyone knows they’re participating!
I’m a fanfiction writer, can I add my work to a collection?
Yes you can! The event is still Tumblr-based. This means that if you don’t post your work on Tumblr with our tag, it won’t be reblogged, but we also created a collection for people binge-reading on AO3 to find everyone’s work more easily!
So if you post your fic on AO3, feel free to add it to the Camelove2021 collection!
Asks about this topic: 1. 2.
I’m a fanfiction writer, does my WIP count as a contribution?
Sadly, no. In order to participate, what you create must be made for the event, so a WIP doesn’t count, unless you add a chapter to your WIP especially for the event with that day’s theme.
Example: you’re writing a WIP and on Day 1: Ladies First, you post the chapter where your leading lady finally gets together with her one true love, that’s perfect (and good for her, too!).
Do I have to post something for each theme?
This event is about having fun. If one of the themes isn’t for you, or you don’t have the time to post something for each of them... don’t!
If you do complete the Camelove2021 event, feel free to create a master post, linking to all of your posts, so we can reblog those, too! Make sure to tag it with #camelove2021completionist
Can I post more than one contribution for a theme?
Yes you can! We’re blown away by the positive reactions we’re getting so far! It’s humbling to see how inspired some of you are. If a theme inspires more than one contribution, feel free to share all of them with us. We look forward to seeing what you’ve created!
Can I cross-post works for other events?
We’re huge fans of pairing things up around here — so yes! As long as your submission fits the necessary requirements for both events and the other event doesn’t mind cross-posting either, we say go for it. Share the CameLOVE far and wide!
Asks about this topic: 1. 2.
Where can I find other people’s contributions?
We’ll reblog fandom contributions that are tagged with #Camelove2021 during the event, so you can find them on our page! We have noticed a bug that keeps some posts tagged with Camelove2021 from showing up in Tumblr searches. If you notice we haven’t reblogged your post, send us an ask with the link to it, so we can fix it!
We can’t promise to reblog anything that’s posted before or after the event.
The mods are free to choose not to reblog anything they deem inappropriate or offensive. This is about spreading love, not hate.
Art is beautiful, but not all of it is suitable for everyone. Make sure to tag appropriately (see above)!
If you create something for every theme of the Camelove2021 event, feel free to create a master post, linking to all of your posts, so we can reblog those, too! Make sure to tag it with #camelove2021completionist
What if I don’t want you to reblog my posts?
As long as you don’t tag them with #Camelove2021, we won’t reblog them! But then again, you’ve spent time working on this, so we’d love to help you share it with the other people in the fandom!
What is up with all the Gwapple shipping?
Good question. Click here and read all about it!

Cap-IM Big Bang 2019: Getting Your Groove On
Tumblr media
Mood music can be inspiring for some people as they create—to help set the tone of a fanwork, to help drown out distractions, to help with dialogue or scenes, and perhaps most commonly: to help with titles!
As prospective Cap-IM Big Bang writers type away at their fics, we'd like to remind everyone about all the gorgeous Stevetony-themed playlists out there. Let's get a Stevetony groove on!
Earlier this year, the Cap-IM comm launched its very own Spotify account, which has a variety of collaborative Stevetony playlists ready for you to listen and add to. The playlists are divided into 3 categories: event playlists, mood playlists, and universe playlists. You are welcome to comment on our DW playlist masterpost or email [email protected] at any time to ask for another playlist to be added to the list. The DW post also has links to other playlists fellow fans have made—everyone is welcome to drop their own Stevetony playlists links in a comment!
If you have a Spotify account (which has a free tier), you can add the Cap-IM playlists to your own Spotify library, and also add more songs to any playlist you like! You can also comment your Stevetony-themed songs on the DW post and we'll add them to the appropriate playlist for you. We've recently added an Endgame-themed playlist which is ready to be filled with feels-inspiring songs!
Listening to songs on Spotify is only open to people who make an account, but the good news is that if you don't want to get a free account, you can still see all the songs that have been added to playlists! We now have a publicly-viewable spreadsheet of all the songs on our playlists, with a tab for each theme. Here people also have the opportunity for noting down why a song suits a playlist, or what is so Stevetony about it, or what the most fitting lyrics are!
If you're looking for Spotify alternatives, a good number of Stevetony songs can be found on Youtube by searching a keyword like "stevetony" and seeing which songs and fanvids come up. You can also try your luck with 8tracks, which doesn't require an account to listen to tracks. Just type in a search term like stevetony, stony, superhusbands or stony fanmix and you'll find plenty of playlists at your fingertips. However, please note that a song's availability is dependent on which country you're in, so a playlist may end up skipping forward a lot if you live somewhere outside the US or Canada.
Good luck for your Big Bang fics, everyone—we hope you're making good progress!
Running since 2011, the Cap-Iron Man Big Bang challenges the community's writers to create Steve/Tony-focused fic with a minimum of 25,000 words. Artists are then invited to claim a fic and create accompanying art! To sign up as a writer you need to send us your 20,000 word draft and summary by September 25th.

FAQ
Posting this as a post to replace our previous “page”.
Feel free to drop us an “Ask” if you can’t find what you are looking for here!
Hey, I’m kinda new in town, can you tell me more about Alpha/Beta/Omega // Omegaverse?
Oh boy, can we! We could probably talk about it all night! But the best way to discover more is to read some fics, because everyone has their own take on the A/B/O AU and some writers even write several stories set within completely different A/B/O societal structures.
The basics you need to know: Society is usually split into two genders (male/female) and three secondary genders (alpha/beta/omega) which come with a variety of anatomical differences as well as societal norms and dynamics. Biologically the most important aspect is the heat/rut mating cycle that drives alphas and omegas to mate. You will notice Mpreg, yes male omegas can get pregnant! And also see the word “knotting” a lot, and there’s no way we can address this without confirming - yes, knotting, like dogs. This whole thing rose out of Supernatural fandom werewolf fics so… what can we tell ya? But the most important aspect of many fics is the societal dynamics. You will find lots of parallels drawn within fics with feminism and gender and sexual equality.
If that sounds like something you’re interested in, then dive right in! If you want to know more, do check out this awesome Alphas, Betas, Omegas: A Primer by norabombay
How does the Library work?
On a weekly basis we trawl tumblr and AO3 for new content.
Then on a weekly basis (usually Sundays and occasionally Wednesdays or both), we reblog and crosspost everything we’ve collected, along with anything you have submitted to us or @ at us.
We will crosspost from AO3 (with an @ to the author if we know their tumblr handle). However we always try to reblog from tumblr if there is also a tumblr post, so that the creator gets the blog traffic.
Where can I find things?
Originally we started out by logging everything in Pages. Which was not only time consuming but also it turned out that tumblr hadn’t made the pages function available on Apps - which is how many people access tumblr. As such we discontinued updating these pages, but instead have now set up this MASTERPOST.
The Masterpost links through to tags on the blog so that you can click a tag/pairing/theme/dynamic you like and scroll through everything we have so far reblogged. The Masterpost is constantly updated (so do always check back), as new tags/pairings/dynamics, etc are added.
NB: In the future we may reformat the pages to host all completed fics from AO3 that fit out remit, but this is going to be down to time constraints of the mods.
Can I link you my own fic/art/gifs/etc?
Yes absolutely! We will blog your own work or any recommendations you have, as long as they are Hannigram/rarepairs/AUs etc and A/B/O in nature. Feel free to send it as an Ask, submit it via the blog, or @ us in your tumblr post so we don’t miss it.
What about where only a single chapter in an ongoing fic is A/B/O ?
You are more than welcome to link it to us, but where possible link us the specific chapter(s) and/or make clear which chapter(s) are A/B/O so we can make this easily accessible for the readers.
Tagging on Tumblr
On a weekly basis we search for various Hannigram and A/B/O related tags within tumblr to find your posts and reblog them.
To help up find you, please tag your posts as Hannibal and/or Hannigram and include at least one variation of an A/B/O tag - such as omegaverse, alpha hannibal or omega hannibal, etc.
Important Note: This is not fool proof. If your blog is marked as private it may not come up in the searches. Also - we know from experience that tumblr tags do not always work regardless of the settings and searches we use. For example the posts of almost all our Mods never show up in searches despite being tagged correctly, Overcoming fic updates show up only 50% of the time, many ongoing fic and art series that we know of rarely show if at all. Please tag anyway because we still do find a lot that way!
I linked you/posted/blogged some a fic/art/etc but it hasn’t been reblogged yet!
Our current schedule is that we run a queue of reblogs and AO3 crossposts every Sundays (and occasionally on Wednesdays). However, there will be times this might not be possible due to life constraints of the mods.
If Sunday has come and gone and you were not reblogged please feel free to send us an Ask to double check we saw it. As always, we’d always prefer to get things more than once than not at all.
Regarding Asks - we tend to save these up and answer a few in one go (usually not on a Sunday). So replies to Asks may get posted any day. If we anticipate a long delay in replying to an Ask one of our Mods will possible message you to let you know that we are on it!
Canon, non-canon, AUs and Rare Pairs!
We will reblog all of these as long as they fit out remit of being A/B/O in nature. As always, to ensure we find them on tumblr please do let us know about them in our Ask box or @ us.
On a weekly basis we search the Hannibal (TV) and Hannibal Extended Universe tags for A/B/O fics. We strongly recommend you include your rarepair fics under Hannibal Extended Universe. See this info post for more details.
We also encourage creators to also tag as Hannibal and/or Hannigram on tumblr so that it isn’t missed by us or other readers.
What about reccing non-con, underage, specific kinks etc?
It isn’t going to be to everyone’s taste but we won’t censor submissions/reblogs/crossposts. We only ask that they are clearly tagged where appropriate (including AO3) so that readers know what they are getting!
Can you link my tumblr name in the library pages or crossposts?
We’re can’t @ tumblrs in the library pages, as unfortunately they don’t work the same as posts. However, where the tumblr name is known or given we will include them in any crossposts from AO3.
What if I see something mistagged or logged wrong in the library/Masterpost?
Please do get in touch with us via the Ask box if you think there are any errors, or with suggestions how to make this more user friendly. We are totally not infallible, so we welcome any and all feedback.
Is there anything you won’t reblog?
For the sake of our Follower’s dashboards, we will not reblog overly long tumblr posts that do not include a “keep reading” page cut.
We also don’t currently reblog works inspired by Overcoming (only the fic and podfic updates) as it has it’s own blog that we would just be duplicating - see post here for details. The only exceptions being works tagged specifically for one of our infrequent fests.
We reserve the right not to reblog or crosspost from AO3 anything from creators who have abused or harassed this blog directly or any of it’s mods. We’re sorry to have to add this, but based on events that occurred we don’t believe we should be compelled to cater to anyone who has behaved poorly, harassed, abused and/or threatened this blog or anyone associated with it.
Can we link work from anywhere?
Yes! Link us the AO3 or tumblr no problem! If it is on another website please be sure to mention if it is your own work or who should be credited/source if it isn’t clear.
This is awesome! How can I get more involved?
The first stage of this library is to fill it, so the best way you can get involved right now is to read, write and rec the ABO to us. Just drop them into our Ask box so we can reblog and add them to the library.
We also run occasional events/fests that we welcome participation in.
Who the heck are you people and what is this all about?
Just like you, we are readers, writers and lovers of A/B/O. We decided to set up this blog after seeing something similar (non- A/B/O) in another fandom and thinking “why don’t we have one of those for Hannigram A/B/O?!”
Our aim is to create a user friendly and interactive resource in the form of a library of A/B/O works in easy to find categories, as well as a blog dedicated to reblogging A/B/O works and recs. In the long run we hope to do more to encourage more A/B/O writing in this fandom, which is so excellently suited to it!
This blog is administrated by @desperatelyseekingcannibals / TigerPrawn and @VictorineB / Victorine with assistance from @tcbook / TCbook and @Slashyrogue / nightliferogue
Feel free to say hi to us!
