Noteworthy details about the first two PJOTV episodes (spoilers)
First of all, every single of them ATE DOWN. just wanted to throw that out there, i'm so so impressed with the cast, everyone was perfect and gorgeous and i'm completely sat for any and all future installments. A fine piece of media. Let's begin.
Percy's confusion and bewilderment finding out that he's a demigod. "You fell in love with God.... like, Jesus????" LMFAO but seriously his frustration in this moment, thinking there's something actually wrong with his brain, feeling lost and confused and hurt and BROKEN. the struggle in that moment is so relatable to people discovering they have some sort of mental illness or neurodivergence, especially when they weren't believed/listened to etc and i think walker played this part beautifully
GROVER AND PERCY PLAYING MYTHOMAGIC TOGETHER. GROVER AND PERCY PLAYING MYTHOMAGIC TO TRAIN PERCY. I AM LITERALLY SCREAMING OFF ROOFTOPS THE IMPLICATIONS THAT THIS HAS???? ARE YOU ACTUALLY JOKING??????? IMAGINE SEASON 3 PERCY FINDS NICO AND THEY HAVE THIS IN COMMON???????????!?!?!?!?!? FEELING SEVERELY FRANTIC AND MASSIVELY UNWELL ABOUT THIS
luke's empathy towards Percy throughout-- his apologies for what happened to his mother at the bottom of Half Blood Hill, him telling P that he relates to the nightmares, the restlessness, the ADHD..... so fucking sick and fucking twisted, I will be sobbing at the ending, gorgeous job on both ends on making this relationship feel very warm and authentic and the trust starting to build. this will H U R T.
CLARISSE. she's so gorgeous and vindictive. Her beauty took me off guard initially, but she's such a spiteful little badass that I completely fell in love with her. I CANNOT WAIT to see more of her characterization, especially into season two. perfection.
Percy burning the blue jelly beans- the thing he'd miss most- out in the middle of the woods at night in a damn can, just to pray to his MOTHER. *sobbing intensifies* i couldn't ask for a more sweet, heartfelt, honest moment. the perfect addition. 10s across the board
Percy's ANGER. OH BOY this was one of my most favorite parts. I feel like we see Percy as a very happy-go-lucky kid altogether but I loved, LOVED to see his frustration and agitation from the very beginning. Everything is so confusing and foreign and all he knows is that 1. he's been betrayed or left behind by everyone he knows and 2. he's been ignored his whole life by his godly parent. His mission is to MAKE HIS DAD SEE PERCY, at ANY COST. Before he even knows who his dad is. He is entitled to feel ALL of this anger and hurt and resentment!!!!!!!
Annabeth calling Percy "sunshine". TOTAL CULTURAL RESET. I gasped. The dawn of a new age of Percabeth. I will be screaming into my pillow about this for the foreseeable future.
The entire characterization of Percy throughout the capture the flag scene. His contrast of being just a kid- flossing (lol), peeing the woods, petting a gecko, just vibing and hanging out VS. being thrown suddenly into attack from his peers that don't care about the rules, surprising himself and everyone around him with his finesse in battle, quick instincts, swordsmanship..... i'm weak fr. I can't wait to see him grow, train, become stronger and more confident.
Overall, I'm entirely floored and beyond happy. I can't wait to see more. 10/10

Not that anybody really cares, but these are my personal takes on the first 2 PJOTV episodes.
1. Grovers character so far is getting too much hate! I, personally, think that the additions of Grover aren't that bad of a change for him. The scene in the office genuinely show how he is willing to risk his friendship just to save Percy. Also, be mad at Chiron for that, not Grover. Chiron made him do it.
2. Mr. D is adapted so well in this, and you cannot convince me otherwise.
3. Gabe is actually NOT written too nice. As someone who has dealt with manipulation/emotional abuse he is almost exact to the people who are like this (atleast in my personal experience.) Like, I'm no pro, but it's pretty spot on.
4. I don't really like Lukes character development... you're supposed to like him before the big betrayal and his character just feels super stiff.
5. THE BLACK SCREENS FOR TRANSITIONS ARE SO ANNOYING AND A TERRIBLE CHOICE. It doesn't really take away from the episodes, and I still enjoyed them either way, but it was still a really lazy and weird way to show a time skip.
6. Episode 1 had really weird pacing and went super fast. I can't really explain it, but it just felt rushed.
7. The fight with Ms. Dodds was super disappointing :( although Percy being unconscious on the floor while everybody is standing there was really funny.
8. The mythomagic for training is actually a really cool detail and I'm super excited to see how that helps him and Nico bond in the future! However, it's gonna make Nico running away hurt even more😭
9. Clarisse is amazing. The restroom scene felt a little disney channel, but she is so cool and well executed I love her anyway. Also, THE CAMO PANTS!! I am so happy that made an appearance.
10. Walkers sass for Percy is literally the best, he is literally him. Same thing for Leah for Annabeth. The small detail with her fixing Percy's strap was hilarious. Her blunt "tell it how it is" attitude is honestly such a good personality trait for her, and I think will mean a lot in the further episodes.
Overall rating?
Episode 1: 7/10
It was a great start to the series! The editing is certainly... a choice. Felt kinda rushed, but I really loved some of the changed made. Kind of mad that the outro song isn't Riptide (PJO version.) Still got me hooked!!
Episode 2: 8.5/10
They shouldve knelt when he was claimed. Pacing was better, but the weird transition point was still there. Lukes development is super boring, and I genuinely considered skipping his scenes. They should've shown the Council of the Cloven more, but I don't really care about that, it was just a missed opportunity. Loving Annabeths character, even if she wasn't there a whole lot! Chiron is making me mad, though. I LOVE DIONYSUS.
I'm super excited to see what they do with the characters. I'm trying to be super patient with the characters development, since its only the first 2 episodes, but I'm super worried that 6 more episodes won't be enough to properly execute everything necessary for the book. This is especially because most of the book is spent explaining things and is mainly world building. Everybody is almost exactly how I imagined, with maybe a few minor details, but nothing I even mind.

pjotv spoilers!!
maybe this is an unpopular opinion but as someone who has been in the pjo fandom for 10? years i really liked the show despite the changes from the books. its valid to ask for an adaptation that is identical to the books but i think its also unrealistic. personally i liked the changes they made! it gave me more of a “what’s gonna happen next” feeling after the episodes that i wouldn’t have had if the show was a carbon copy of the books. the scene with poseidon surrendering so zeus wouldn’t kill percy ? immaculate. i do miss the pit scorpions and sally using medusa’s head but the scene with luke was still so good and i think the new gabe post-credit scene makes sense. i see so many ppl nitpicking which is okay, maybe i just didn’t have my hopes set as high bc of how previous adaptations turned out but i think the show is a really good version of percy jackson all things considered!!

[[ let me preface by saying that this definitely is a ramble, but I really do appreciate the patience and kindness so many of you offer me. the fact that so many of you are here and so overwhelmingly positive in the little corner I carved out for Katie and myself means so much. 💙 each of you have never made me doubt about how much she means to you or your muses, or how much we mean to one another behind the screen as friends and writers developing our nostalgia better than the author or show/movie creator does.
while this post summarizes it well, the last few months haven’t really allowed for me to return to writing like I keep wanting needing to because IRL keeps adding more to everything else happening right now (I might detail it later but just know it’s been A Lot.)
I recently updated my rules to reflect this so here is a summarized version --- I have been formally (yet only recently) diagnosed with a neurological / sleep disorder has brain fog, excessive daytime sleepiness, and other symptoms accompanying it. my energy level when writing, plotting, or even casually talking out of character, is going to be sporadic. sometimes I have plenty of ideas to plot with, but not enough energy to type all of it; sometimes I think I already answered a thread / message / ask only to find out that I didn’t (thanks, brain fog) or I never even received a notification (thanks, tumblr). sometimes it means taking awhile to check out the about and rules of new followers. I’m currently in the middle an uphill battle with this condition and medicine / treatment, but please know that if I follow you, I want to write / plot / talk with and get to know you and your muses, no matter how long it may take me to personally gather enough spoons to do so. since I know that the blue hellsite sometimes causes stress for people, I’m also open to writing and plotting on channels through D.iscord. ;;" (though it’s set up under my personal info not Katie’s.)
I still have plenty of my own headcanons and development for Katie that I want to bring from my behind the scenes to this blog’s center stage, regardless of how big her role is in P.JOTV. I really hope that the new year will bring more consistency with my writing — for Katie, Colton / my sideblog, the multi which I hope to launch in the new year — and mean it since I know that I have been saying this for awhile now (:upside down face:) — whether it’s on tumblr or D.iscord, fanfics, and especially with the original works — and hopefully better health.
I'm going to be visiting some family for the new year (and finally watching PJOtv — while also missing my pets 😭). I'm also going to be hopefully have time to begin looking for loose threads / starters in this blog's labyrinth, into new followers, tweaking tags if needed, and adding final touches to the multi (even if it still doesn't have a fancy promo, oops). I hope all of you had a very merry Christmas, happy Hannukah, good yule / wintertime, and are enjoying the releases of PJOTV episodes (or DW specials or just...whatever has you excited). and again, thank you so much for being here!! ]]

FRIEND <3. Alright so...manee. maneee. Where do we start. I wont say everyth i didnt like i'll j focus on ep 1 & 2
i wanna say 1st and foremost that i knew they were gonna change stuff and i didnt mind however:
the first two. well. three episodes were too rushed. they didn't lay down any foundation, they didnt expand on anything it was just as if they were rushing you along and cutting out any...depth that adds to percy's character
i.e. miss dodds fight is like 0.2 seconds long and she practically falls on his sword + sally and percy barely speak like...about not the plot? if u get me? no speak of montauk in detail, no talk of sally's day really iirc...just.....Lines from the Script
and a lot of the show is just Lines from a Script rather than a believable show
smelly gabe is no longer abusive and is just...mildly annoying? maybe a bit of an asshole? sally even yells at him -- and i get it, but because of the lack of time spent at home + percy's home being damn near PRISTINE + THEY DONT EVEN GO INTO HIS ROOM, there's ZERO like. depth added to percy's character from his home life. i wouldn't mind them changing him if they like....branched it out but they just removed it and did nothing
dionysus, i personally found weird bc i perceive him to be like. ...he just acts like he doesn't care and is pretty much an asshole to percy, but he's still a God, y'know. they didn't do this at all in my opinion...he was weirdly tense the entire time. i just dont like him 😭
percy's claiming scene was 0.1 seconds long, underwhelming and rushed
they made clarisse like...? clarisse is a bully sure, but her reason for being mean to percy is because she provoked him & didn't expect him to talk back--and percy said some snarky shit in the books lmao. in the tv show they like...she doesnt believe he beat the minotaur. Which...i mean...ok
ANYW if i dont stop here i'll go on forever. but what i DID like
they gave grover more depth (i didnt like some things but for the most part, i just like that they tried)
the set design was beautiful
poseidon's claiming....symbol (yk the trident) looked good
casting for the most part is rlly good
but yeah. also keep in mind im like. Austistic. abt pjo. like its a special interest. so i'm way more....picky than i guess most normal fans would be abt shit 😭. but ya!!!
