guys I’m worried about pirate knuckles.

Sonic is seems to be wearing the same hat as knuckles in one of the shots.

It looks a captains hat.

maybe it’s nothing and the hats just a stylish thing and Sonic has the same hat it because it’s a cool hat and there were spares.

But if not, and the hat is symbolic of captainship. Well…
